Human Encampment: Akiza vs Shelly
Akiza followed her adoptive sis towards the tent they've been sharing for the last two weeks. Ka'an still hadn't sent any word as to where or why he left, and Shelly's been acting differently, not homicidal or he doesn't love me, but more like she just couldn't feel it anymore. They had something, something great, but it never developed, never evolved, it just didn't go anywhere. Akiza remained silent about this, her sis was smart and strong, she could figure a way out of this, right..right?
"Aki." Shelly suddenly said.
"Huh, uh yeah sis?" Akiza said, coming out of her thoughts.
"What would ya' say to a duel?" Shelly asked.
"A duel? Yeah, sure. I guess." Akiza was unsure why this was suggested so suddenly.
"What's up kiddo?" Shelly noticed the hesitation.
"Uh, well, it's just that, with all that's happened, is a duel right now really something we should be.." Akiza began.
"Akiza," Shelly said with an edge to her voice.
Akiza had never received such a response before from her adoptive sister, it really freaked her out to hear her name.
"Yes?" Akiza replied tentatively.
"I need this. I need it to try and clear my head." Shelly stopped before entering the tent. "I don't know if it's the approachin' battle, Ka'an steppin' out suddenly, the realization that some monsters genuinely hate humans, and more than likely vice versi, or that some people are actually losin' faith or trust that we can do this." Shellys' shoulders sagged slightly. "I need to do this."
Akiza stepped up and placed a hand on Shellys' shoulder, "okay sis. Let's do it."
After they got their decks and disks, they went to the sparring/training area and stood opposite each other.
"Duel!" They said together.
"I'll go first," Shelly stated. "I draw. I summon Field Commander Rahz in attack mode."
A man with a knight's grey armor and a tattered cape formed on the field.
"He allows me to maneuver a warrior in my deck to the top of the deck. I choose Amazoness Paladin. Let's see what ya' got Aki!" She finished.
"Alright, I draw! I set one monster and one card facedown and end my turn." Akiza finished.
Two card backs formed on her field.
"I draw. Big surprise what I got. Now I summon Maraudin' Captain in attack mode, then use his ability to summon Paladin in attack mode, and her ability grants her 100 extra attack for each Amazoness on my field." Shelly said.
A man with light teal knight's armor, twin swords, and red cape appeared, then a blonde-haired woman in simple tan cloth, hood and cape, and a long sword appeared on the field.
"Next I'll activate the field spell Amazoness Village, now my Amazoness monsters gain 200 extra attack points. Battle! Rahz attack her facedown monster!" She commanded.
Rahz drew his sword and leaped into the air, slamming down and slashing the card in two.
"Ah, my only defense!" Akiza said.
"And now for two direct attacks! Captain, Paladin, attack her directly!" Shelly continued.
Both monsters raised their swords, and moved forward, slashing her, dealing Akiza 3200 in damage. 4800lp
"Aaahhhhh!" Akiza skidded back a few feet but kept her balance.
"I end my turn." Shelly finished.
"I draw. I summon Junk Anchor in attack mode." Akiza said as she took a step forward.
A little mechanical warrior all-metal grey appeared on the field.
"Now I use Quillbolt's ability, since I control a tuner monster I special summon it from the graveyard."
A puffball with bolts sticking out of its back appeared on the field.
"Now I tune level two Anchor and level two Quillbolt in order to synchro summon level four Underworld Fighter Balmung in attack mode." She said.
The monsters went into the air, Anchor turned into two green glowing rings, Quillbolt flew into them becoming two stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a knight in all black armor and cape, carrying a huge sword and shield on the field.
"Now battle! Balmung attack her Marauding Captain!" Akiza commanded.
The Fighter leaped at her Captain and slashed him in two dealing Shelly 900 in damage. 7100lp
"Oof. Is that all?" Shelly questioned.
"Yeah, for now. I set one card facedown then end my turn." Akiza finished.
"I draw. I activate Polymerization, sendin' Amazoness Queen in my hand and Paladin on my field, to the graveyard to fusion summon Amazoness Empress in attack mode!" Shelly said.
A pool of swirling colors formed on the field, then the two monsters turned into flares and shot down into the vortex of color and a huge flash shot up, a woman in animal skins, fiend skulls for decoration, and a huge sword appeared on the field.
"Battle! Empress attack her Balmung!" Shelly commanded.
The Empress took a few steps forwards and dropped her sword onto Balmung's head like he was insignificant, cutting him in half dealing Akiza 900 in damage. 3900lp
"Grr!" Akiza gritted her teeth.
"Now Rahz attack her directly!" Shelly continued.
"Not so fast! I activate the trap, Reject Reborn! Now I can end the battle phase and then reclaim a synchro and a tuner monster from the graveyard!" Akiza countered.
"Not bad. I end my turn." Shelly finished.
"I draw. Heh, since you have a level five or higher monster, I special summon Junk Giant in attack mode." Akiza said.
A huge blue machine with what looked like massive train whistles on each shoulder appeared on the field.
"Now I normal summon Changer Synchron in attack mode." She said.
A smaller machine with orange glider wings and a switch on its head appeared on the field.
"I tune level one Changer and level four Balmung to synchro summon level five Junk Speeder in attack mode," Akiza said.
The monster went into the air, Changer turned into a green glowing ring, Balmung flew into them becoming four stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a white armored monster with rocket boosters everywhere on the field.
"When Speeder is summoned, he automatically summons as many Synchron tuner monsters as possible from my deck onto the field. So I special summon Jet and Steam Synchron in defense mode." Akiza said.
Two small machines, one a miniature jet the other a miniature steam engine train appeared on the field.
"Since Changer was used for a synchro summon, he turns your Empress to defense mode," Akiza stated. "Now I tune level six Giant and level one Jet for level seven synchro summon, Black Rose Dragon in attack mode!" She said.
The monsters went into the air, Jet turned into a green glowing ring, Giant flew into them becoming six stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a dragon, all black with red rose petals for scales and wings with long black thorny vine-like appendages on the field.
"Now, normally I'd go straight for her field blast effect, but I don't want to right now. Instead, Jet has an ability, since he was sent to the graveyard via a synchro summon, I gain a Junk monster from my deck, I choose Junk Servant. Now since I control another Junk monster, I can special summon Servant in attack mode." She continued.
A red and yellow machine with a strange apparatus for a head appeared on the field.
"Now I tune level two Anchor and level four Servant to synchro summon level six Stardust Charge Warrior in attack mode." She said.
The monster went into the air, Anchor turned into two green glowing rings, Servant flew into them becoming four stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a white armor and winged warrior on the field.
"When Charge Warrior is summoned I can draw one new card. Now battle! Speeder attack her Empress, when Speeder battles on the same turn he is synchro summoned, his attack doubles for that turn. So he's strong enough to decimate her!" Akiza commanded.
Rockets firing, Speeder shot straight at Empress and crashed into, then through, destroying her.
"When Empress goes to the graveyard, I'm allowed to special summon one Queen from my hand, deck, or graveyard. So welcome back my Queen!" Shelly countered.
A throne shot up from the ground with a blue-haired woman with an eye patch sitting in it. She has a smug look, wearing animal skins, a red cape, and carrying a large sword.
"She doesn't allow any Amazoness monster from being destroyed in battle, and that's not all, when an Amazoness is destroyed, while I control my Village field spell, I gain another Amazoness of equal or lower level from my deck, and I choose Amazoness Tiger in defense!" She continued.
An orange tiger leaped out from behind the throne, it also was missing an eye, wearing gold brackets and collar and chain leading to the Queen's hand, appeared on the field.
"He gains 400 extra attack for each Amazoness on the field and ya' have to attack him instead of all other Amazoness monsters." She explained.
"Hm, alrighty then, Black Rose attack her Rahz!" Akiza commanded.
A black vine whipped out and slapped Rahz sending him flying, destroying him dealing Shelly 800 in damage. 6300lp
"Now I'll use the facedown trap, Urgent Tuning, and during the battle phase I can use this to send level three Steam and level five Speeder to synchro summon level eight Stardust Spark Dragon in attack mode!" She said.
The monster went into the air, Steam turned into three green glowing rings, Speeder flew into them becoming five stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a white dragon with blue patches and large wings on the field.
"I set one card facedown then end my turn." She finished.
"I draw. Battle! Queen attack her Charger Warrior!" Shelly commanded.
"I activate Sparks ability, I target Charge Warrior and now he is immune from destruction for the duration of this turn." Akiza countered.
"Ya' still take the damage Aki!" Shelly said.
Queen lunged forward for Charge, but Spark let out a beam of energy covering him from harm, but the attack dealt Akiza 600 in damage. 3300lp
"I end my turn. Seems we got a stalemate on our hands." Shelly noted.
"Maybe so, let's see what can be done about it. I draw." Akiza began. "First I'll turn Charge Warrior to defense mode. Then I set one card facedown, and I end my turn." Akiza finished sooner than she had liked.
"Aww, too bad, my turn. I draw. I think I'll set this card facedown. Now battle! Queen attack her Black Rose." Shelly commanded.
"Sparks protect her from destruction!" Akiza countered.
Again, Queen leaped out, and Sparks formed a shield over Black Rose, the attack dealt Akiza 200 in damage. 3100lp
"Well, it may only be 200 damage, but it's still a chip off the ol' block. I end my turn." Shelly finished smirking.
"I draw." Akiza began but stopped when she looked at her new card.
"What's the holdup!?" Shelly shouted.
"Huh? Oh, nothing. I set one card facedown then end my turn." Akiza finished.
"I draw. I set one monster in defense mode." Shelly began, then considered that last card Aki threw down. "Should I, eh, ya' only live once. Battle! Queen attack her Black Rose again!" Shelly commanded.
"I activate my trap, King's Synchro! Now I can negate your attack then banish Black Rose Dragon and one tuner monster from my graveyard in order to synchro summon immediately!" Akiza countered.
"So that's whatcha' drew. Not bad." Shelly bemused.
"I banish level seven Black Rose, and level three Steam Synchron in order to synchro summon level ten Stardust Chronicle Spark Dragon in attack mode!" Akiza continued.
The monsters went into the air, entering a black portal, steam turned into three green glowing rings, Black Rose flew into them becoming seven stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a large golden dragon with light for its wings on the field.
"Not bad at all." Shelly was impressed. "Not that it will change much of the current situation though. I end my turn." Shelly finished.
"We'll see, I draw. Battle! Sparks attack her new facedown monster!" Akiza commanded.
The white dragon flew forward, charged a blast in its maw, then released it in a stream of energy, blasting the card off the field.
"That was my Warrior Lady of the Wastelands, when she is destroyed, I'm allowed to special summon one Earth attribute Warrior monster from my deck. So now I special summon Amazoness Swordswoman in attack mode!" Shelly countered.
A woman with wild red hair, blue animal skins, and a huge sword appeared on the field.
"So what? It's weak, and that means it isn't much of a threat to me. I end my turn." Akiza finished.
"Don't be so sure Aki, during ye'r end phase I activate my facedown, Amazoness Willpower, and special summon an Amazoness monster from my graveyard. So welcome back my Empress!" Shelly started.
"No! I activate my trap card, Solemn Judgement! Now at the cost of half my life points, I can negate that trap cards activation and destroy it!" Akiza countered.
A portal appeared, and the Empress tried to step through, but a man in white robes blocked her return, and then it all disappeared. -1550 1550lp
"Tch! Very well. I draw. I summon Command Knight in attack mode." Shelly began.
A female warrior wearing red armor and feathers appeared on the field.
"Her effect grants all my warriors 400 extra attack points, makin' Queen now equal in strength to ye'r Chronicle Dragon." She stated.
"Then bring it sis!" Akiza taunted.
Shelly smirked, "battle! Swordswoman attack her Chronicle Dragon!" Shelly commanded.
"What!? But she's weaker than my monster!" Akiza stated.
The Swordswoman leaped at the dragon with a crazed hunger in her eye, but Chronicle just blasted her away to ash dealing Akiza 900 in damage. 650lp
"What!? Why'd my life points suddenly drop? That was your monster, not mine!" Akiza noted.
"True, but Swordswoman has the ability to grant ya' all the battle damage I would have sustained instead," Shelly stated. "I end my turn."
"I draw." Akiza looked at her cards, "no, no, no! I can't lose now!" She said to herself. "I end my turn." Akiza finished.
"Hm? Nothing? Okay, I draw. I summon Amazoness Princess in attack mode." Shelly began.
A much younger female with white hair, red animal skins, a purple feather skirt, and a small spear appeared on the field.
"When Princess is summoned I gain one Amazoness spell or trap card from my deck, Amazoness Fighting Spirit will do. Now I activate Fighting Spirit, this grants 1000 attack over whatever monster happens to be stronger than one of my attacking Amazoness monsters." She stated. "Now battle! Princess attack her Charge Warrior!" Shelly commanded. "When Princess is involved in an attack, I send one card from my hand or field to special summon another Amazoness monster from my deck. I send a card from my hand, so say hello to Amazoness Blowpiper in attack mode.
The Princess ran forward and leaped at the Warrior, then another woman in blue skins and carrying a hand-carved flute appeared on the field. The Princess's spear found its mark, destroying Charge Warrior.
"Now Queen attack her Chronicle Dragon!" Shelly commanded.
"I activate my trap, Half Unbreak! Now my monster isn't destroyed by this battle and I take half the damage!" Akiza countered.
A bubble formed around Chronicle, protecting him, but was still dealt 300 in damage. 350lp
"Very well, I'll set one card facedown then turn Knight to defense mode. That ends my turn." Shelly finished.
"I draw. I summon Bright Star Dragon in attack mode. Then I activate the spell Double Summon allowing me to normal summon once again. So now I summon Torque Tune Gear in attack mode." Akiza began.
A yellow dragon and a small set of mecha gears appeared on the field.
"Now I tune level one Torque and level four Bright to synchro summon level five Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth in defense mode.
The monsters went into the air, Torque turned into a green glowing ring, Bright flew into them becoming four stars, then a beam of light shot straight down and formed a dark dragon with an Ankh on its chest appeared on the field.
"And to finish up, I'll turn all of my monsters to defense mode. That ends my turn." Akiza finished.
"Awe, hidin' behind ye'r precious monsters. So cute. I draw. During my standby phase, Blowpiper reduces one of your monsters' attack by 500. Chronicle sounds like a good choice, not that it'll matter in the long run." Shelly began.
"Tch!" Akiza grunted.
"Now I activate Fusion Recovery, gainin' the Polymerization and Paladin from my graveyard. Next, I activate Polymerization to send Tiger on the field and Paladin in my hand to the graveyard to fusion summon Amazoness Pet Liger in attack mode." Shelly stated.
A pool of swirling colors formed on the floor, then the two monsters turned into flares and shot down into the vortex of color and a huge flash shot up. A massive golden furred Liger with black armor and massive claws appeared on the field.
"Liger can gain 500 attack when he attacks, and if another Amazoness attacks, your monster loses another 800 attack points. Now battle! Liger attack her Spark Dragon!" Shelly commanded.
"Sparks protects himself from destruction!" Akiza countered.
Liger leaped at Spark, but it enveloped itself in a shield, protecting itself.
"Tch! Fine. Queen attack Chronicle Dragon!" Shelly continued.
Queen leaped from her throne and buried her blade deep into Chronicle, destroying him.
"When Chronicle is destroyed, I can special summon a dragon synchro monster that is currently banished. So welcome back Black Rose Dragon!" Akiza countered.
"Doesn't matter, Princess attack her Black Rose and get her off this field!" Shelly commanded.
The Princess did the same as her mother, burying her spearhead deep into the dragon destroying her.
"I end my turn." Shelly finished.
"Phew! Okay, I draw." Akiza stared at her hand. "Oh come on!! Grr! I set one card facedown and one monster in defense mode. I end my turn." Akiza finished.
"This ye'r last gamble?" Shelly asked, noticing her empty hand.
"I guess, maybe I should just stop dueling. Let someone else use these cards and see if they can go farther." Akiza stated.
"Aw c'mon! Then who will I torture if not cha'." Shelly said playfully.
"Ka'an," Akiza stated flatly.
Shelly stopped moving for a second, the name hitting like a truck. "That..it's..I...I draw." She finally said, a little on reflex, drawing a card.
Taking a minute before she played anything, Shelly's mind reeled about everything that's happened since she first met Ka'an, then the mission to Canada, the Baddeck, their first kiss, she grazed her lips at the thought, she ain't never been kissed like that before.
Shaking her head she got back into the game. "Okay, enough reminiscing, battle! Queen attack her Sparks!" Shelly commanded.
"I activate my trap, Storming Mirror Force! Now all your attack position monsters are returned to your hand!" Akiza countered.
A vortex of wind built up between the monsters and blew all of the appropriate monsters off Shellys' field.
"Wha!? Ugh, fine! I summon Maraudin' Captain and then special summon Princess in attack mode. Then I gain Amazoness Baby Tiger from my deck to my hand. I end my turn." Shelly stated.
Shelly's mind went back a few months when the humans came to the monster world.
"A baby? I thought we agreed, no babies until we're settled in and aren't going anywhere else? When we have a home babe." He said.
"I know, but I want us to take the next step. Ka'an I want to be married," Shelly stepped forward, grabbing his hand and holding it to her bosom lovingly, "and I want it to be with you, now and forever."
Shelly shook her head of the memory, "no dammit! I need to focus!" She chastised herself.
"I draw. I activate my facedown trap, Jar of Avarice." Akiza started. "Returning five cards from my graveyard to my deck, reshuffle, then I draw one new card. I turn Spark to attack mode, now battle! Spark attack her Captain!" Akiza commanded.
Spark flew forward and blasted her Captain away, dealing Shelly 900 in damage. 5400lp
"I end my turn there." Akiza finished.
"I draw. Battle!" Shelly started. "Now I activate my facedown trap, Amazoness Onslaught! Now I can special summon an Amazoness from my hand, grant her 500 extra attack points, so say hello to my Queen once again. Now Queen attack her Spark Dragon and end this duel!" Shelly commanded.
"No, no, no!" Akiza screamed as the attack landed.
The Queen's sword cut a huge slash in the dragon, destroying him dealing Akiza 500 in damage. 0lp.
Akiza lay on the ground sprawled out like she was dead, then she suddenly screamed. "Dammit!"
Shelly walked over to her and looked down at her. "Problem?" She asked nonchalantly.
"Ugh, I thought making you think of Ka'an would throw your game off," Akiza said.
"It did. I failed to stop ye'r mirror force trap and it nearly cost me all my monsters." Shelly admitted. "But it also made me miss him dearly and now I really want to know where he is."
Akiza sighs, "well I hope he returns soon because his disappearance has really messed with morale here." She gestured to the human camp. "I even hear some couples from the space flight and training we did while coming here have started to break up," Akiza noted.
Shelly turned her gaze to the wilderness of the monster world and thought to herself. "Ka'an, where are ya' dammit!?"
