Miles Speaking:

I blamed myself a bit for Gwen's condition as I stood beside her, we were at Spider Man from 2099's lab in his universe. Gwen laid on a bed like a hospital bed in the lab. She was still in her uniform but with her mask up as the computer around her ran analysis on her condition. I placed my hand on hers, a really sad look must have been on my face, I didn't want to loose anyone again and I almost lost her today, partially because our opponent was crazy strong but also partially because I was barely focused and weak even before the fight.

The others were in another room in the Lab. I looked at the clock in the infirmary , it was half past ten at night and they had been in there over two hours. Gwen would have loved it if one of us was at the meeting but I couldn't leave her side and Penny and Peter was there, they would relay whatever was said to us when it's done. Suddenly a figure materialized on the other side of Gwen's bed, it was a woman dressed in white furry clothes and seemed semi transparent, it was Miguel's personal Artificial Intelligence, Lyla.

"Hi Miles." She said, more like a...it said to me. The voice kind of reminded me of a party girl from a 90s movie, even her dressing.

"Hey."

"So, would you love to hear ?"

"Huh?"

"The results of Gwen's condition analysis, would you like to hear." She said

"Oh, go ahead."

"She's going to be fine." It said at first which startled me a bit, I looked at the AI's face and she gave me a smile, was she trying to cheer me up? I smiled back realizing that she was,

"thanks."

She turned her face to Gwen's and I did also,

"Her vitals are stabilizing, she really took a blow to her systems." She said.

"What did he do to her?" I asked.

"It seems that the subject called Morlun is a Life feeder." She said.

"Ok..." I said looking at her again "what does that mean?"

"It simply means Miles that he feeds on other's Life force or Essence"

"Life Force?, You mean like their soul?" My eyes widened a bit as I asked. She moved away from Gwen's side over to a screen which screen in the room which showed the internal nerve system of a human, possibly Gwen's, it wasn't well shaped to tell if it was even make or female.

"Not exactly, but the end point is one would loose his life if all his essence is drained, so yeah, the soul would be gone too." She said staring at the screen.

"Oh..." I said, she just struck a nerve there when she said that, I could have lost Gwen today.

"You too..." She said, she was suddenly beside me, I nearly jumped out of my suit.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."

"Scare me? Nah, I wasn't..I wasn't scared." I said and cleared my throat "me too what?"

"You too, your system also has taken a blow." She said

"Really? But he didn't suck my life force as he did hers."

She disappeared and appeared somewhere else in the Lab.

"I didn't say from him."

"Oh...?"

"You need to rest more Miles, clearly from my reading of your vitals you haven't."

"You can read my vitals? hey is that legal?..."

She disappeared again and appeared where she first did, beside Gwen's bed.

"Rest up Miles" she said lastly and disappeared.

I didn't know if it was just me but the way she said it standing beside Gwen made her last words sound more like. "Rest up Miles, or this could be you."

I smiled a bit and sighed, she was right. There was another bed at a corner of the room, I went over to get it, I rolled it a bit closer to Gwen's and laid on it, facing the ceiling which had round circles of light all over I began to think of home, my world, my school, my family, what were they up to now, had they noticed I was missing today? I had to get back soon but before I could meditate more on that I drifted into a deeper sleep than Gwen's, didn't think that was possible but I was gone.

Hours later someone shook me awake, it was Gwen. She stood beside my bed as I did hers. I quickly sat up.

"Oh hey" I said smiling a bit "you feeling better already?"

"Yeah, thanks to you." Gwen said smiling with one side.

"Me?..." I asked standing up "but, what did I do?"

"You stayed with me and that's enough." She said

"Gwen..."

"Hold that thought" Gwen said stopping me "we have a briefing to attend.

"What? Now?." I said getting up and wearing back my mask.

"Yeah."

"Where's Peni, and Peter?" I ask.

"Come on guys let's go." I hear a voice say impatiently at the door, it's Peni's.

"There's Peni..." I smile and say.

At the briefing room I see Peter and the two new (well other new) Spidermen apart from Miguel standing side by side. The forest green suited spider man standing beside the Superior spiderman but in another suit from the last time I saw him, this time it's red and black almost like a real spider man and not a doc oc and spiderman hybrid. Miguel is there too, we all stand about a round computerized table like King Arthur briefing his knights only that this time King Arthur was Spiderman 2099.

"Now that we're all here." Miguel started "Lyla?..." He continues and the computer AI though not seen at the moment poped up a screen behind him, on it is the picture of the being who took us on and nearly took the life of Gwen.

I frown seeing him.

"Let me bring us up to speed of what we're dealing with especially for those of you who weren't present in our last meeting."

"I wouldn't call it a meeting." Superior Spiderman said, a bit of irritation in his voice.

Everybody turned to him.

"Fine, let's get on with it." He said annoyed. "

I wondered what his problem was.

"As I was saying..." Miguel said frowning at Superiors direction. " ...We discovered the origin of the this being, Octavious?" He said gesturing to Spider Oc to speak.

"And by we, you mean me Miguel." He said walking over to the screen himself.

"[Clears throat] now children..."

"Children?" Gwen said in a low tone.

"This guy is a pain." Peter said lowly beside me

"Hehe." I laugh,

"...on my first encounter with another world after an accidental explosion in a lab from my world I found myself on the site of an ancient world, broken down and forgotten, a world we now know as Earth 001." Octavious turned to the screen. "There I found one of the last remaining survivors of the unslaught of that planet and it told me an interesting Story."

"There are the images I took while there." He said

The screen flickered and changed to a scene of rot and decay, the sky was a mixture of orange and red which painted almost everything underneath the same. Bodies where scattered here and there with some bones too. It was like the starting of some post apocalyptic horror movie that you didn't want to watch.

Gwen gasped a little and asked "What happened to it?"

"War, famine, pestilence, science, and... The Inheritors.."

"The Inheritors?" I asked

"That my friend..." Miguel said, " is what our attacker is called, and these pictures are from the world's they have visited and almost completely dissimated"

Looking at the screen again, the destruction, all I could say was.

"This...this is bad news."
