Notes:
I decided to leave the title of this chapter in Spanish for a simple reason:
I could not find a word in English that could express the meaning of "Galerna".
Galerna: Is a sudden and violent storm with strong gusts of wind.
Enjoy the chapter!
09. 🌊 Galerna🌊
Summer
Secrets, lies and bad deeds can turn into furious gusts of wind that are often called "galernas". These strong and violent winds can cause greater havoc as well as dangerous scenarios.
June 05
11 weeks pregnant
10:00 a.m.
Since he found out he was going to be a father, a thousand thoughts and questions came to Yuta Okkotsu's head that he could not ignore.
First there was the matter that both his and Maki's lives would be completely changed with the arrival of that baby.
Although he was completely excited by that arrival, it did not stop worrying him.
Perhaps the expenses to some extent would be covered. He knew that as a special grade sorcerer, he earned more money than other lows ranks sorcerer. But even so, they were still heavy expenses that were approaching.
The fees of the gynecologists, the consultations each month, the purchase of medicines, supplements and prenatal vitamins, clothes for both Maki and the baby, diapers, toys and everything they would need before and after of its birth. Yuta as a father really wanted to cover all that. In addition to the fact that he also wanted to be there at all times for his son.
But above all, he also had to look out for Maki, because after all, she was the one who was carrying that baby inside her womb.
Yuta's main fear as a new father was that both his wife and baby would have an accident, especially he feared for Maki.
Not just because of how reckless or how risky his wife could be at anything. From risking getting on an unstable base just to change a light bulb in the house or trying to carry something heavy as she used to.
What he feared the most was the fact that Maki was still very reckless and rude when it came to removing curses. Her mercilessly hitting them with her bare fist even if it meant getting hit in the attempt.
Although "luckily" in the last month, she had only been called on three missions that were category one or that could be classified as dangerous.
Missions that as dictated by their part of the deal and as part of the promise they had made in the city of Atami, they carried out as a team. Although later this treatment would change drastically due to a decision by Yuta.
But there was something more important at that moment, which made Yuta begin to feel desperate and even a little fed up.
And that was trying to keep that pregnancy a secret.
Although Yuta already wanted to shout to the four winds that he would be a father, he knew that he could not break that promise, because that was the most important thing for his wife. Who was trying in every way to cover all his symptoms and to hide his body, which hardly showed any changes.
Also, as he was keeping the pregnancy a total secret, Yuta couldn't directly ask Shoko about all his doubts about a sorceress pregnancy or if there was a chance that Maki and the baby weren't compatible.
That doubt tormented him at times, because Maki was someone without cursed energy, and even though she had the appointment as a sorceress, she was practically a woman with a heavenly restriction, who was someone invisible to others under certain circumstances.
And he was afraid that if that baby inherited more of his genetic load regarding his power or if he inherited a huge amount of unlimited cursed energy, he didn't know what effects these could have on his wife's body. Or else, he didn't know how the heavenly restraint could act in defense against that baby.
Above all, that doubt had arisen due to the exhaustion that Maki began to suffer from nowhere at times, those seemed not normal, in addition to the times that he saw her fight, he saw her with slower movements and she even seemed less concentrated. She even complained of slight back pain during her breaks and of being very sleepy in the afternoons.
Yuta really wanted to be as informed as possible, he wanted to know if all this was normal due to the pregnancy or if perhaps it was due to something else, but the time he spent on his own missions made it difficult for him to do his research, as well as being on the lookout for Maki.
He really looked nervous and thoughtful while he was in that waiting room.
Yuta was moving his foot too much, he was trying to think of some strategy to make it so that perhaps an assistant or colleague would help him by asking Ieiri san directly for some topics about the pregnancy to be prepared for everything.
"Maybe I could ask Nitta-san for a favor, but what if she suspects the pregnancy? She was with us in Atami and that would raise too many suspicions... How about I ask Megumi for a favor? Well I feel like he's the only one I can trust... but Maki would kill me if I told him about the pregnancy, right?"
He was so caught up in his thoughts that it was his wife who snapped him out of them.
"Yuta" Maki named him.
But he didn't listen. He had a hand covering his mouth and he was staring into space.
"Yuta"
The sorcerer's foot moved non-stop.
"Yuta, I'm talking to you! Stop moving your foot like that, you're making me very nervous!" Maki commented as she gently squeezed his arm.
That sorcerer jumped because he was abruptly taken out of his conversation with himself.
He shook his head slightly to clear those thoughts. "Sorry my love, it's just that I'm nervous. It is the first time that I accompany you to this place and it is also the first time that I will see our baby in a live ultrasound and that has me with many mixed emotions" he commented with a smile.
Yuta was really nervous. It was not for less. Today he was going to see his baby for the first time in the ultrasound since the missions he had to carry out outside the city made it impossible for him to be there two weeks ago.
Maki sighed a little and her hand went over her still very small belly, which was barely noticeable.
She was also nervous to see her baby again and especially to check that everything was okay, since in the last ultrasound that was done two weeks ago, they had told her that the sound of that little heart was barely perceptible and that perhaps it was due to the weeks of gestation in which she was. So they sent her to wait two more weeks to check that everything was fine.
Yuta smiled at her and took her hand to calm her down. "Calm down. Everything is going to be fine. I'm sure our baby is strong and healthy" he told her, kissing her forehead.
"I know, but I can't help but worry. He is our first son, Yuta. Also, it's a huge responsibility and also" her mouth twisted in a slight grimace "I'm getting bored of being home, I haven't had enough interesting missions lately and as I said, I still don't want to stop doing them" she sighed. "Definitely the housewife life is not my thing." She crossed her arms.
"I know, but this baby is also a blessing" He told her, caressing her belly "And maybe they won't take long to assign you missions... " He try to hide his nervousness caused by this topic "Perhaps it is because summer is just about to begin and with it, the high season for missions is just around the corner" he smiled a little and scratched the back of his neck.
Maki continued with a grimace on her lips. "Easy for you to say! You've had mission after mission in the last few weeks" She protest. "And to me, they have only assigned me very basic missions such as recognition of haunted places or having to supervise the students, Agh! How I hate having to supervise them!" A slight smile appeared on her lips "Although I like training them because I can make them suffer for a while on the court."
Yuta laughed slightly at that last comment his wife made.
That smile that appeared so quickly on Maki's face would fade as she looked at her belly. "I really don't want to regret this..."
Yuta hugged her tenderly, putting his arm around her waist. "I don't like seeing you like this and I suppose the baby doesn't like that you're sad either. Don't worry, maybe soon we'll have a mission together, I promise you"He kiss her shoulder. "And besides, you're not alone in all of this. We will overcome this challenge of being parents together"
Maki sighed. "If you say so..."
The minutes passed and his turn to enter that medical office had not yet arrived. Maki observed with curiosity some of the women who were also there waiting her turn in that living room.
Both were surrounded by women of different ages, some had huge bellies and others were young, perhaps it was their first time in the medical office. Although one or the other were accompanied and others really went alone.
Maki felt all eyes on her, maybe it was because she drew too much attention due to her physical appearance, she knew that her scars were striking, as was her still shapely body, which sooner or later would change once her belly looked as big as it did theirs.
So she better decided to focus her sight on something else. She looked at the magazines that were on the table and took one at random. It was one of fashion and beauty. She browsed through it without much interest, until she saw an article that caught her attention.
"What kind of mother are you according to your zodiac sign?"
Maki frowned. She didn't believe in those things, but out of curiosity she read what she said about her zodiac sign.
"Mothers of this sign can become intense, passionate, somewhat nervous and protective but fun. It takes a little while for them to show their feelings to their children through physical contact. However, they know how to show their love by dedicating their time and giving themselves to them through actions. They do not hesitate to defend their children tooth and nail from any threat, although they are also concerned that they are independent children. They are mothers who can be a bit cold or distant in certain aspects, but they are also loyal and like let your children be creative. Your children are your most precious treasure and you would do anything for them."
Maki was thoughtful. Would she be like that as a mother? Would she be a good mother? Could what the zodiac said be right? That made her wrinkle her nose slightly.
Then she secretly looked at her husband and was curious about "What kind of father Yuta would be". That gave her a little humor, since she knew his zodiac sign thanks to Nobara.
She looked at the article again and looked up what it said about her sign and Fathers: Pisces.
"Pisces father are sensitive, creative and understanding. They know how to listen and support their children in their dreams and aspirations. They are affectionate and fun, but they can also be indecisive and distracted. Their children are their source of inspiration and joy and they teach them to see the magic in the world."
Maki smiled. She knew that Yuta would be a wonderful father, no doubt.
She also wondered what her baby would be like. Would it be more like her or Yuta? What sign would it have? she was calculating that her baby would be born in December, so it could be a Sagittarius or a Capricorn.
What personality would it have? Could it be a baby with cursed energy? Or would he be born with a restriction just like her? Or was it possible that it was a normal baby? All those questions began to haunt her head and her fears came to the fore again.
Suddenly, she heard her name being called and that snapped her back to reality.
"Okkotsu Maki" a female voice said from the door.
"It's us" Yuuta said, getting up and helping Maki to do the same.
"Come in, please," said the voice of that nurse.
Maki felt a tickle in her stomach, she felt nervous and excited to know how her baby was.
Instead, Yuta felt great joy. It was time, finally I was going to see her baby.
Maki followed the doctor's instructions, carefully lay down, and uncovered her abdomen area.
That cold gel gave her chills while the doctor began to check the monitor, with those cold tones and the noise of that machine as well as the air conditioning.
She felt that her heart was coming out when for a moment, the screen was black since they couldn't find that little seed, which, after a few seconds, suddenly appeared.
Yuta's face lit up in such a way that he could swear that this was one of the happiest days of his life. He felt like the most blessed man on the planet, while he held Maki's hand and together they could observe more closely how his little baby soybean was now a little bigger and more shaped than that time in Atami.
"Now let's listen to this little boy's heart" the doctor commented, still moving that device in Maki's belly.
Both parents held their breath, Maki fearfully squeezed Yuta's hand, she was afraid that that heart was still or that it would be almost imperceptible again.
Sound started coming out of that monitor. It was a strong beat, somewhat fast and rhythmic.
They both sighed in relief.
Maki finally looked calmly at the screen where her little seed was seen and by the way she could hear her baby's little heart beating.
That sound warned that everything was fine, it was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard in her life. That Maki even watch as Yuta shed some tears and smiled proudly. He was the happiest father in the world.
Maybe a man becomes a father when he finally hears his son's heartbeat. thought the sorcerer.
"Congratulations to both of you, your baby one looks very healthy for the weeks it is, maybe the previous time the sound of its heart was almost not perceptible because he was still very premature due to the week of gestation it was in, and because of how It currently looks, I estimate that you are very close to completing your first trimestre" replied the doctor as he continued to review that ultrasound.
"And is it possible to know its sex?" asked Maki curiously.
Yuta raised his eyebrows at such a question. He still didn't feel ready for that revelation.
"Maybe in one or two more months you can see more clearly if it's a boy or a girl" The doctor finish removing that gel from Maki's abdomen. "I'll give you the pregnancy notification¹ that you'll need to take to the town hall and your medical report in case you need to take it to work" the doctor commented, going to his computer while Maki was helped by the nurse.
Actually, there was one more reason because Yuta had finally been able to accommodate his schedules that day.
01:00 p.m.
Neither Yuta nor Maki had imagined that being parents meant too much paperwork in that country.
"A pendant?! Is seriously? This seems absurd to me! A pendant for being pregnant²? I feel like this is a mockery!" Maki commented somewhat annoyed while she looked at that pendant that she had been given at the town hall.
"I don't think it's such a bad thing my love, they also gave us the boshi kenkou techou³ and it seems that the coupons and the information that comes will help us for the following months when we go to the medical consultations" Yuta said with a smile while looking at that book. "Even here we can keep track of how our little baby soybean is growing"
"I still feel offended! They treat me like I'm still a "teenager"! I hate when they make that stupid face when I tell them my age! I hate being stared at from head to toe because of my scars! Do their think I'm still too young to have a baby? Or do they say it because of my physical appearance? Sometimes I feel like my scars bother their! Are they really so horrible that they scared my baby?" Maki asking annoyed.
"Calm down love, so much stress can hurt you and the baby" Yuta caressed her arms to make her relax "Just ignore those comments, you are a beautiful woman and above all, you will be a beautiful and young mother. Let's only see the positive side of being parents in our twenties, we will be able to enjoy our son more!" He smiled at her a little to calm her down.
Maki exhaled furiously, but she felt that Yuta had a point.
"Well, you have a good point in all this and that is that our knees won't crack yet when carrying our baby... not like Satoru's idiot with Takeru, he already looks like that child's grandfather" Maki answer trying to relax.
Yuta smiled slightly at that comment, kissing her forehead before looking into her eyes "Let's just try to find the positive side to all of this, okay?"
His wife just rolled her eyes. "I'll try, because all of this seems to have more negative things than positive" she blurted out annoyed.
Maki sighed, trying to see the positive side of that, but really she still had doubts and by the way, she wanted to delay that revelation as long as possible and she also didn't want to give clues to others about being pregnant, but that paperwork was important and That little accessory bothered him because it seemed to be crying out for him to reveal that state of grace.
She looked once more at that pendant that said "I have a baby in my tummy." She felt that this bordered on too corny and ridiculous.
"Do I really have to carry it everywhere? Should I put it on my sword as an accessory? "She asking sarcastically, looking once again at that plastic object.
"Well, the staff of the town hall said that preferably you always have it visible and that you will carry it hanging on your bag or backpack, so in theory, everyone should see it" Yuta commented, observing his wife's behavior.
"Tsk! That she would be corny..." she sighed angrily.
"Still, I think it's a nice pendant my love, plus I suppose it must have its advantages as the manual says" Yuta commented looking at that piece of plastic.
"I guess" Maki commented dryly as she hung it in her bag and settled it on her arm.
Yuta raised his thumb as a sign that she looked very good with it.
02:00 p.m.
They both decided to enjoy what was left of that day before returning home. So they decided to go eat at the mall.
When they boarded the train, Maki was surprised that a person gave her their seat once she looked at that pendant.
She was also surprised that in the restaurant they went to, they gave her preference to be served faster thanks to wearing that pendant, making her pass next to Yuta to a more comfortable area, free of cigarette smoke and incidentally giving her preference to order.
It really surprised Maki how "nice" some people were being to her while she was wearing that pendant, maybe that could be her positive side and Yuta hoped that this would give Maki a new perspective that maybe it was time to announce to others about her pregnancy.
Which would not be so.
05:00 p.m.
At her husband's request, Maki agreed to enter a maternity clothing store.
They were first looking at some clothes for her, but Maki felt that this would be a very obvious sign to announce her pregnancy, so she decided that she would not buy such clothes yet and better went to another store to buy clothes of the style that she commonly wore., but in a larger size, fresh and loose.
After buying clothes for her. They decided to go into a clothing and baby things store.
They began to look at the different clothes. There was everything: pajamas, hats, socks, bibs, etc. Yuta was amazed at how small and adorable they were.
"What do you think of this? I feel the color is nice" asked Yuta, holding up a small yellows pajamas.
Maki raised her eyebrow when she saw that garment. "Don't you think that color is very striking? It's a very bright yellow"
Yuta smiled a little "Maybe, but since we still don't know if it's going to be a boy or a girl, I was thinking of buying her a first piece of clothing in a nice color, oh maybe this green looks better! o What do you think of this white with black lines? Or maybe one with an adorable print? Which one do you like the most?" He raise other clothes very excited. "Oh, how about we bring you all these?"
"I think I like pastel green better for the baby. White with black will make it look like a panda and we don't want Panda to steal that garment with the colors of his fur, right? Just as he stole the stuffed animal that you gave me" his wife answered with a soft smile, while she continued to see more baby clothes.
Yuta laughed at that comment "Ha ha ha! my mistake was giving you that panda stuffed animal that I won for you on our first formal date as boyfriends in front of him." It seemed to be a nice but funny memory.
Maki turned to continue looking at those baby clothes. Above all, some hats and small gloves had caught her attention, since that little seed would be born in winter.
Maki seemed undecided between wearing gloves and a small hat in pastel pink or sky blue.
Boy or girl? Did that really matter?
Yuta noticed how Maki looked at those two colors too carefully, he approached her, hugged her from behind to encircle her waist with one of his arms and caress her belly a little. While his other hand, he hid a small detail.
"What do you think it will be?" Yuta asked over her shoulder, looking at those little clothes.
"Huh?" Maki raised an eyebrow.
"When we were with the doctor, you asked if it was already possible to know the sex of our baby, Maki, What sex do you think our baby will be? A boy or a girl?" Yuta asked curiously.
Maki caressed her husband's hand and a little noise came out of her mouth from thinking about that answer.
"I'd like it to be a boy, so that it would be a mini male version of me and, be able to annoy Megumi" she answered with a big smile.
Yuta burst out laughing at that last point. "Do you have a feeling that it will be a boy?" He made some circles on her belly, excited by that answer.
Maki pursed her lips slightly. "I still don't know..." she commented doubtfully, shrugging her shoulders. "And you, Yuta, what do you think it will be?" Boy or Girl?" She asked looking at him a little over her shoulder.
The sorcerer kissed her cheek several times. "I don't know, if he is a boy or a girl, I will love him equally. The important thing is that he comes healthy and strong" he answered smiling as he showed her what his other hand was holding, which was a teddy bear to replace the stuffed animal that Panda had stolen from them.
"I'm sure that he will be a very strong baby and even more so if he inherits it from both of us, so I think I'll take the gloves and the hat in pastel green, something tells me that he would like that color" Maki said very proudly and putting that hat to that stuffed animal.
Her husband only nodded his head about her decision in those clothes and was happy that Maki will like that stuffed animal that he had bought for her.
07:00 p.m.
After seeing some things that they could buy little by little, such as bottles, the crib and other things they would need for the arrival of that baby. They decided to leave that store to finally head home.
Yuta was the one who carried almost all of his wife's bags of clothes.
Instead, Maki carried in her hands those small bags with those first gifts that they had bought for that baby. In the end, they had bought some white shoes that they had both chosen, as well as the gloves along with the pastel green hat that Maki had chosen. They also bought the bodysuit that Yuta had chosen as his first gift for his son. And for Maki, Yuta gave her that teddy bear that he had chosen for her.
And while they walked away from there hand in hand, a female voice made them both jump in fright, above all, that voice made Maki very nervous.
"Maki-senpai!" Okkotsu senpai!" It was Nobara, who seemed very happy to see some familiar faces in that place.
The girl approached them with a big smile. "What are you doing here?" She asked curious.
"Nobara!" Maki gasped and even let go of her husband's hand in surprise at seeing her best friend in that place.
"H-Hello kugisaki san!" Yuta answered with a friendly smile, trying to hide his nervousness.
Maki felt a cold sweat break out all over her back. "Uh... well... us" she stammered, trying to quickly hide the pendant in her bag, pulling it backwards to hide her bag on her back.
She didn't want Nobara to find out about her pregnancy yet. She knew that her friend would be happy for her, but she also feared that she would judge her or feel left out of her.
Maki was not ready to face that reality.
"We were buying some things" Yuta intervened showing those bags of clothes.
"And you? Wh-what are you doing here Nobara?" Maki asked as she tried to hide her nervousness without letting go of the bags.
"Oh excellent! I? Well, I also came to do some shopping, especially I came to buy some summer clothes to withstand the heat and I was going to meet Megumi for dinner. Would you like to join us?" Nobara commented with a big smile.
"He he he! no thanks, maybe it will be another time, and more than Yuta and I just ate" Maki lied trying to cut off that conversation.
"Oh, it's fine! Maybe another time the four of us could go out to eat" Nobara replied with a smile.
"Yes, better another time, when I have free time from work again" Yuta commented with a slight smile.
"Do not worry. It will be for the next one and tell me what were you buying?" Nobara questioned with more curiosity when she saw the bags of clothes that Yuta was carrying.
But quickly, Nobara fell silent when she saw the bag that her friend was carrying and that she seemed to be trying to hide. Above all, she was struck by the logo of one of them.
"And that bag from a baby store? Don't tell me what?!" asked the orange-haired girl, her eyes wide open.
"Well, actually we were buying some baby clothes" Yuta had a big smile on his face, he really wanted to reveal that and maybe because she is Maki's best friend, she would take it well Yes, we ..." but he was quickly interrupted by his wife.
Who invented a lie "Oh this? It's for Utahime sensei!" Maki was trying to sound convincing "Ha ha ha! as you know, she's pregnant and we're thinking of giving her something for her next baby that will be born in a few months" Maki commented with a fake smile.
That made Yuta's smile fade and he looked a little puzzled at his wife.
"Right, Yuta?" Maki asked, still with that fake smile on her face.
Yuta pursed his lips a bit, before continuing with that lie. "Yes, that's right, we want to give sensei a special gift," he said with a cold tone.
"Oh I see! They had already scared me!"— Nobara sighed a little in relief "I suppose it would be a good idea to make her a baby shower and more than she never had one baby shower with her first baby and well, you know what happened with her second baby..." Her voice trailed off thinking about that tragic event.
"I also think it would be a good idea to make her a baby shower so that she feels supported with her next baby" Maki continued to answer, it seemed that she was very good at lying.
"Yes" Yuta responded again coldly. "And that's why we decided to go into that baby store and buy her a gift"
"And now that we have it, we were going to retire home to rest" Maki wrapped her arm around her husband's arm.
"I understand, well I guess I'll buy her something also" Nobara replied to what luckily she was believing.
"Sure, but for the moment, don't tell Utahime sensei anything about these purchases, let alone tell Megumi that you saw us here and with these gifts, please Nobara. Can you keep the secret for us? Yes, please?" Maki commented, putting her index finger to her lips as a sign of secrecy, while Yuta just kept silent
Nobara's face lit up "Of course! So the four of us could get together one day and organize something for sensei"
"I like the idea!" Maki faked that enthusiasm very well "Then we agree to go out another day" she said, taking Yuta's arm tightly "Well, we have to go do some more shopping. See you later, bye" she commented quickly as she pulled her husband with her.
"See you, Kugisaki san" Yuta only said goodbye slightly raising his hand, that attitude of his wife disconcerted him too much and even annoyed him.
"Bye..." Nobara said, watching them leave with surprise.
09:00 p.m.
Yuta and Maki arrived at his house after escaping from Nobara in a hurry. Throughout the way, Yuta was silent, disappointed in Maki's attitude towards Nobara, while she couldn't stop looking at that stuffed animal that her husband had given her.
Once they entered that apartment. Yuta was the first to drop into that sofa, he ran his hands over the back of it while he thought about everything that had happened that day.
Like going from how excited he was to see his baby, to being disappointed that Maki had the nerve to lie to her best friend.
"Uff, thank goodness we left quickly from there!" Maki said relieved, sitting next to her husband and resting her head on his chest, while from one of her bags, she took out the little shoes that would be her baby's and looked at them excitedly.
"Yeah... but I didn't like having to lie to Nobara" Yuta said with a frown. He really seemed upset.
"Eh? Why? " Maki asked surprised to see her husband very serious about her.
"Because she's your best friend and at least she deserves to know the truth, just like Megumi and everyone else" Yuta answered seriously.
"But I don't want anyone to find out yet. It's my decision and you should respect it! Besides, that was our deal in Atami, we swore that we would tell everyone when I was ready and right now I don't feel ready to reveal it to them" Maki said annoyed, standing up. "Or have you already forgotten?" You promised me we wouldn't tell anyone until we were four months old!" Her hands traveled to her hips as she looked at her husband.
"I haven't forgotten!" Yuta answered offended by that while he stood up "Maki, I respect you, but I also care about you. You can't hide your pregnancy forever! Sooner or later your belly is going to start showing and then you will have to face the consequences! Also, it would be good if someone we trust like Nobara or Megumi knew in case something happened to you!" He said worriedly.
"What consequences will I have? What do you think can happen to me? Are they going to kick me out of the academy for hiding my pregnancy? Or are they going to take away my sorceress title? Or do you think our friends are going to reject me for hiding this from them?" Maki asked, very upset and moving her hands from one side to the other.
"I don't know what consequences it could bring to both of us!" Know? I would love to tell everyone that we are expecting a baby! But you make it very complicated" Yuta said sighing.
"Sorry? What are you trying to say?" Maki asked angrily.
"What I'm trying to say is that you can't live with this hiding your pregnancy all the time. You have to be brave and face this reality. You are pregnant, you are not sick! You can't be turning down something as beautiful as this! You don't have to be ashamed or hide!" Yuta said trying to take her hand.
"I'm not rejecting it and it's not as easy as you say it is either!" Maki withdrew her husband's hand somewhat aggressively as she continued to answer very annoyed.
"You don't understand what it means to be a woman in this world of men! It's so easy for you to assume that this is 'beautiful' when it isn't! There are days when I really feel terrible about myself, sometimes I couldn't stand the symptoms or the hormones! You're not carrying this around on your body!" She raised her voice and pointed at her belly.
"I know! Unfortunately I am not carrying that baby in my body, but I am trying to be understanding with you! Anyway, I'm trying to put my all into this relationship, both as a husband, as a father-to-be, and above all as a sorcerer!" He was furious too.
Maki pointed at Yuta annoyed by that last thing "As a sorcerer do you say? HA! It is very easy for you to say it! You are a man and by the way, you were 'blessed' in this world! You don't know what I've had to suffer and fight to get to where I am! You don't know what it's like to have to give up your dreams because of a baby! You are being showered with missions and instead, I haven't had missions in days!" Maki replied, she was on the verge of tears due to stress and hormones.
"If I know what you went through to get here Maki, I know because I was there. Also, you shouldn't give up on your dreams... it's just a pause while the baby is born... let's try to calm down and talk calmly" Yuta said approaching her, he didn't like seeing her cry.
"No!" she took a step back "I don't want to talk to you about this anymore because it's more than obvious that you wouldn't understand" Maki tried to push him away.
"Maki, please! Dont be like that! You will hurt our baby!" Yuta tried to hug her.
"Don't put me like that? Yuta, you don't even understand how I feel about all this! Besides, it seems like you only care more about this baby than me!" She pushed him away again.
"It's not like that, I care about both of them too much!" he answered offended. "I'm trying to understand you!"And I just want to do the right thing as your husband and as the father of that baby!" Yuta raised his voice somewhat brittle.
"Well, if you say that you try to understand me so much, then respect my decision and don't tell anyone anything as we promised! It's the only thing I ask of you..." Maki said, wiping away her tears.
Yuta sighed and nodded. He didn't want to argue with Maki anymore. He loved her too much to make her suffer.
"Okay... I'm sorry... I promise I won't tell anyone as we agreed" he apologized just to calm her down.
But I didn't agree with his attitude either. He knew that sooner or later they would have to face the truth and he didn't know how Nobara would react when she found out that she had been lied to.
But neither would he escape the consequences of his actions. Since he wasn't being completely honest with Maki either. Especially for what he was about to do.
Those strong winds full of lies, secrets and bad decisions were only increasing in intensity, beginning to cause small havoc that would gradually increase, to the point of making that relationship on the path of a typhoon.
🌊To be continue...

First of all, I want to apologize if there was no chapter last month, the truth is that I had a very strong emotional downturn that blocked me from writing, but little by little we are getting out of said blockage and depression.
I hope you liked this chapter❤️
The last minute truth, and thanks to someone's suggestion, is that I decided to get Nobara involved at once.
I can only assure you that, just as the presence of more characters and more entertaining situations is coming, a typhoon is also coming in the relationship between these two.
Now some notes, because as you know, sometimes I take this writing seriously and more than try to investigate some aspects and situations that happen in Japan.
Notes:
1 Pregnancy Notification (ninshintodoke,妊娠届): Japan has always been characterized as a somewhat "unique" country in its laws or customs. In this country when a woman becomes pregnant and after taking the necessary tests to prove that she is pregnant, doctors must give her a "Notification of Pregnancy", where the doctor details: How many weeks pregnant she is, the approximate day of delivery and other details.
This notification must be taken to the District Municipality (kuyakusho, 区役所), where the pregnancy is registered with the government of the municipality where she are staying.
2 Pendant for this pregnant: Well, once they notify the municipality that the woman is pregnant, here a pendant will be given to the woman, which practically says "I have a baby in my belly" onaka ni akachan imasu おなかに赤ちゃんにいます.
The woman, even if her belly is not yet very bulging, must wear it so that other citizens can identify that she is pregnant. This measure has been done in Japan for a few years to date to "empathize" with pregnant women and to take them into consideration, for example, to be given a seat, etc. Although, according to the testimonies I read, it is sometimes difficult for people to empathize with them, especially in public transportation.
3 "Boshi Kenkou Techou: It is practically a Maternal and Child Health booklet. It is given by the government to inform parents about the baby's development, vaccinations, pregnancy care.
This booklet serves, among other purposes, to record important events that occur from the time of the baby's birth until the child is six years old.
The booklet also contains a series of discount coupons for necessary examinations or tests during pregnancy, such as ultrasound scans, tests, or other routine visits. This is because in Japan (unlike other countries) pregnancy is not covered as such by the Japanese National Health Insurance.
Having a baby in this country (as well as in the rest of the world) is very expensive, that is why the government "gives these coupons" where only a discount is given and the rest is at the expense of the parents. The same goes for childbirth, which is very, very expensive.
About when Maki says "They treat me as if I were still a "teenager", I am referring to the fact that in Japan, even if you are 18 years old, they will see you as an adult until you are 20 years old and here Maki is 19 years old.
About why I omitted Maki's zodiac sign, well, that's because I didn't want to put a specific sign (Capricorn or Aquarius) since she is in both signs, although because of her birth year (2002), she would be an Aquarian (I even researched all that stuff). Although some say that she is a Capricorn. So I decided to omit it to avoid problems (although for me it gives me vibes of being an Aquarius) and I better create a horoscope taking things from both signs. Do not kill me.
Anyway, I hope you found all this interesting.
We'll keep reading ❤️
