I don't own twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and the plot of my story.
Edward drives to his parent's house for his nephew and niece's birthday party. He hasn't been at their place since the vodka incident 5 days ago. His interaction with his dad was essentially over after he told him what he heard from Eleazar.
He still doesn't know what possessed him to drive home drunk and how he wasn't stopped by a police officer. What he does know is that if Rosalie hadn't made it clear that skipping the twin's birthday party wasn't an option, he wouldn't be in attendance. Not only does he dread seeing his dad. He also dreads seeing Bella.
Rosalie told him beforehand that Bella, Marco, and Cece will be in attendance today. Rosalie was always on the best terms with Bella. When Bella left, while she missed her, she thought it was what he deserved. She always believed that Bella should have dumped him a long time ago.
Is she his sister-in-law?
Yes
Did she take his side?
Never.
As a matter of fact, As far as Rosalie is concerned Bella should have done that a long time ago. The only thing eclipsing her happiness over their breakup is that because she left, Bella didn't attend her wedding, but then Rosalie didn't attend Bella's wedding, so maybe that is why Rosalie is not very angry at her.
For the fifth time since the morning, Edward asks himself, "Is escaping Rosalie's anger worth seeing Bella?"
A part of him is angry. Angry at her. Angry at the circumstance.
Another part of him is in denial. There has to be an explanation for all of this. Something that will wrap up everything with a pretty bow and mend his broken heart. Something has got to give.
There has to be a light at the end of the tunnel. A purpose for his heartache and pain. No one should be in pain for nothing.
That part of him is delusional. As if the other parts of him would ever be okay with what she did to him. As if any thing could explain away his pain and anger.
A slightly rational part of him, that is equal part angry and in denial is bargaining with fate. It wishes that there is an explanation for everything that happened in which neither of them is the bad guy. That part is attached to the last words his dad told him
I refuse to believe that Bella would do that. You should know her better than to believe that.
That is the thing. He doesn't know what to believe anymore. He only believes Eleazar because of what Bella said. He only believes that Tanya had nothing to do with her dad's deal because she is friendly to Bella. It all comes back to Bella.
He parks his car and shuts down the engine. He spots Tanya's car two cars away from him. He had planned to arrive to the party on time, but a client crisis meant that he had her arrive on her own so she wouldn't miss the beginning of the party unlike him.
He hears the sound of the kids as he steps outside his car. He walks towards the backyard and looks around. He spots his family, some kids and their parents, and Bella's family. He spots the twins jumping on the trampoline and knows that they won't say hi to him until their parents force them to get off it. If there is anything the twins love, it's jumping on the trampoline.
He spots Cece. Or to be precise, Cece spots him as he only sees her when she is running in his direction. He bends down and picks her up and spins her around. Her giggles alert her parents and his to his arrival.
A part of him was worried that he will feel differently about Cece after finding her parentage, but now he knows nothing could change how he feels about her which is strange because he is not a kids person.
"You came. Rosie said you will but you are late," she pauses as she pulls back and tells him authoritatively, "Don't ever be late again, got it?"
"I promise I won't. Now tell me, why aren't you jumping with the other kids on the trampoline?"
"I wanted to but mummy said I shouldn't because I might get sick," she tells him curling her hair around her finger.
After chatting with him for a little bit and telling him all about her school and her hospital visit in which nothing she said made any sense because it was like she was speaking in riddles, he drops her on the ground, and she runs toward her dad.
He says hi to his family and drops his gifts at the gifts table before he asks his mum about Tanya. She tells him that Tanya went to his bedroom to make a phone call.
He climbs up the stairs and walks towards his room and finds her on his bed.
And to his horror, she is holding the box that was under his bed.
First of all, I want to thank everyone who has been kind enough to review, favorite, and follow my story. You guys are amazing. I can't thank you enough. What I can do though is give you are early update.
One of you guys left an interesting review. All I can say is you hit the nail on the coffin with the working for a man that probably has blackmail on her.
That said just to be clear, Bella never accused him or confronted him about having an affair. The reason on why she left him till now is unknown. What happened is that when she returned Tanya told her that they have been dating for 6 years when Bella left him five years ago which means that six years ago they were still together. Till now Edward doesn't even know that Bella believes that.
Also everything Bella does is for a reason. It will all make sense if you stick around and read the rest of it.
The next couple of chapters will have a couple of surprises for you and Edward so wait for the upcoming updates. That is partly why I wanted to update sooner than usual. Because I want to get to the exciting parts.
Please leave a comment in the review section. It could be your favorite part, thoughts, feeling, or even criticism. Any and every comment you leave is read and taken into consideration. Your comments motivate me to update faster, and help me grow as a writer.
Until my next update,
