"Picture of the Perfect Future"
Tandre (Tori/Andre) - Tori and Andre are married with two children, and they are preparing for their first family portrait.
Andre is searching through the house, not even having the chance to button up his shirt or tie his tie, trying to find his and Tori's wild, playful little boy, Orlando. The five year old has been running through the house all morning while the couple attempts to get the family ready for their first family portrait. The photographer is due to show up at the house in the next twenty minutes, and the couple still had to get themselves ready in addition to their two little ones. Things were quiet for a moment as Andre walked into the family room, calling the little boy's name. It wasn't long before Andre saw little feet coming from the other side of the couch, and he thought he'd sneak up on his son. Orlando did end up seeing his father in time to run the other way. Andre had only managed to get a dress shirt on him, as the boy ran past his father still wearing his Paw Patrol pajama bottoms. Andre followed his son into the kitchen trying to catch up with him.
"Orlando! Orlando, come on man, we still have to get ready!"
Orlando crawled under the dining room table, but instead of following him, Andre waited him out until he attempted an escape. Watching carefully, he finally was able to catch Orlando coming out the other side. Andre scooped him up, and the little boy was laughing.
"Boy, what are you doing running through my house?"
"Oh, you found me, Daddy!"
"Yeah, I did. Come on, little man. We need to get ready to have our picture taken." Andre told him.
Andre plopped the little boy on his shoulders, walking to the bathroom, and Orlando was laughing the whole time. He stood Orlando on a stool, buttoning his shirt, and helped him with his tie. Andre did the same to complete his outfit, and father and son looked at themselves in the mirror.
"What do you think?" Andre asked.
"We look the same, Daddy."
"Well almost. We have to get your dress pants on."
"Why?"
"Because, a suit and tie doesn't go with pajama bottoms. Come on, let's go."
Andre walked Orlando to his room, and helped him into his dress pants and shoes. Despite the time it took to get his son into a nice outfit like this, he and to admit, they did look good.
"Okay bud, do you think you can stay looking nice, while I help Mommy?"
"Yes Daddy." Orlando said, and began playing with his legos.
Now that Orlando was settled, Andre went to check on Tori and their three month old baby, Layla. He hoped his wife had an easier time than he did, being that Layla couldn't run around, but the frustrated sigh coming from Tori didn't leave him feeling optimistic. Tori was wearing a teal knee length dress, with clips still holding up her hair, as she tried brushing her daughter's hair while the little girl was protesting, grabbing the brush away. Andre sat on the bed opposite them in an attempt to help.
"How's it going in here?" Andre asked.
Tori lets out a sigh. "This is the third dress I've put her in because she spit up on the other two, and now I can't even get near her with a hair brush without her crying."
Andre leaned over Layla, taking her tiny hands in his fingers, gently bouncing his hands up and down to calm her down.
"Hey baby girl. What's wrong, huh? Don't cry, you look beautiful."
With two of them on the job, Tori was able to get Layla's hair smoothed out enough that it looked neat for the picture. Layla was finally starting to grow little curls at the end of her soft, brown hair, and she looked more and more like her mother every day. Tori sat her baby up who was finally smiling, and Andre sat her on his knee.
"I call that a success." Tori said.
"I think so. Now I have two beautiful ladies to take a picture with."
Tori smiled, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Yeah, If I can get my hair ready in time."
Andre took Tori's hand, kissing her knuckles.
"I think you look lovely." Andre said, and Tori kissed him.
"Thank you. I think you look lovely, too."
Tori went to finish doing her hair, and Andre took the kids into the family room. The photographer came in, and Andre told him to set up in front of the couch for the photo. Andre is holding Layla, and Orlando is sitting on the couch, when Tori comes out ready to go. Andre smiled at his beautiful wife, with her hair parted to the side and pinned up, with curls that draped over her shoulders. She took Layla in her arms, and they sat together for the photo. The photographer made a few adjustments to how they were seated, set up the necessary lighting, and took a few photos to make sure they would have the perfect one. The photos were loaded up on the photographer's laptop, where Andre and Tori were able to take a look at the final product. There they were, the family Tori has hoped to have since Andre proposed six years ago. While it was challenging to get the kids dressed this morning, this picture came out great, and just the way the couple wanted to present the family they had together. They would be able to have the picture framed in their home in a couple of days, and they couldn't wait for their parents to see it.
The photographer gathered up his equipment, and the kids could finally relax, no longer having to be careful with their outfits. Orlando took off his tie and shoes, hopping on the couch ready to play again.
"Mommy, can I watch TV?"
"Sure Sweetheart." Tori said, ruffling his hair.
Orlando happily ran to his room to grab his Paw Patrol toys, and play along with the show. Tori stood holding Layla, who was resting on her mother's shoulder with her thumb in her mouth.
"Sure, now she's calm." Tori said, while brushing back Layla's hair.
Andre wrapped arm around Tori while kissing Layla's forehead. Layla closed her eyes, nuzzling into Tori's shoulder.
"Would you mind holding her while I go change?" Tori asked.
Andre took Layla in his arms, and sat on the couch while accompanying his son watching his favorite show. As Andre held his little girl resting on his chest, Orlando came up next to him hooking his Daddy's arm. Andre leaned down, touching his nose to Orlando's forehead.
"Hey little man, you did good today."
"Thanks Daddy." Orlando said, hugging him tighter.
Tori came back dressed more comfortably, and joined her family in the living room. Orlando hopped up to hug her, and she took her little boy on her lap, snuggling him close. She leaned into Andre who pulled her in next to him, and in the other arm, Layla was finally asleep. Tori took Layla's hand with her finger, rocking it back and forth.
"Do you want to get her changed, too?" Andre asked.
"No, let her sleep for now. I'll wait until we have dinner."
"When are we having dinner?" Orlando asked.
"Not for a few hours, Kiddo. You can have a snack if you're hungry." Tori told him.
"Fruit snacks?"
"Sure."
Orlando climbed down, and ran into the kitchen to grab a bag of fruit snacks, before rejoining his parents. He opened the bag, offering one to his mother and father as they each took one. The family settled into each other, watching the rest of the kid's show on TV. This became a regular routine for Tori and Andre, and they have almost forgotten what it was like not to have children's shows on. If it meant bringing the whole family together to snuggle up, and be close with one another, they would watch children's shows all day long. With their first family portrait complete, Tori and Andre forever had a document of how much their family has grown, and most of all, they would remember this day.
