I don't own twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and the plot of my story.
"Hey Edward thanks for the donation," Bella says. He looks up and discovers that Bella was in the bathroom of Cece's hospital room.
"Look mummy, Eddie drew me balloons," Cece tells her waving the casted arm around. Bella walks toward Cece and throws her head back laughing when she sees the drawing on her cast.
"Your drawing is still terrible, isn't it?" she asks smirking at him.
"We can't all be Picasso like you," Edward replies.
He doesn't know how, but somehow he manages to mask his real emotions and pretend that he didn't just find out that Cece might, is his daughter. He manages to laugh and joke with both Bella and Marco despite knowing that they kept him intentionally away from his daughter.
He also manages to drive them back to his parent's house and plays for a little bit with Cece while the rest of the family chats with Bella and Marco. She makes him walk around the garden with her and tell her the name of the plants. Which is both easy and hard for him to do since it's Bella who taught him everything he knows about plants.
Even being in this garden is painful for him. Back in the day, it was hard due to him being heartbroken, now it is because it takes everything in him not to smash everything. He has to remind himself that Cece is beside him every time a memory hits him.
Bella was the one who designed it as part of her graduation project. His parent's backyard was bare before you that. All it had was a willow. It was perfect for her project. He looks to his right as he hears laughter to find Bella throwing her head back and laughing.
His family is eating out of the palms of her hand. He has got no one to blame but himself for bringing this snake into their home. He had to have Bella drag him by the hair to spend time with his family.
Before they met, he never hung out with his family. Rarely showed up to family dinners. Hung up on them when they called. When he met Bella, she got him to talk with his family, host dinners at his apartment for his family, and mediate confrontations between them.
Edward was so angry at his family when at the age of 19, he found out that Carlisle isn't his father. She was the one that softened his edges and helped him see things from his family's point of view. She mended his relationship with them.
Once they broke up, things didn't go back to how they were when he was 19, but they weren't the same either. That's why they welcomed her because as far as the family is concerned, she is their long-lost daughter and he is the black sheep.
Of course, Tanya tried to do some of that herself. She couldn't help him the way Bella did. She doesn't have communicating skills Bella did. She is not good at persuading him. She doesn't know how to make sense of all the noise he makes in his anger. She doesn't understand him the way Bella did.
Simply put, she is not Bella.
He wonders to himself if that was her plan all along. She was cunning enough to do that and smart enough to know that once shit hits the fan he will lose his shit too.
Was this her plan all along? To alienate me from my family and make them her own?
Whether his line of thoughts makes sense or not doesn't matter as he hurls bottles, plates, cups, and everything breakable in his house at the wall. He doesn't care. It doesn't matter. All that matters to him is that he feels wronged.
It's that anger that keeps him up all night.
It's that anger that makes him leave the gym with bruised knuckles.
It is also that anger that gets him to drive to her office instead of his.
"Tell me you didn't do what I think you did," he tells her as he marches into her office.
"Huh?" she mutters looking up from the design in her hand.
"Don't you know how to knock?" she asks him looking irritated.
"I am going to ask you once and you will answer me truthfully. Is Cece my daughter?"
"I was waiting for you to ask," she tells him taking her glasses off and putting them on the surface of her office.
"Since I heard you and Cece talking in the hospital I have been waiting for everything to dawn on you. When did you realize that? Don't tell me it didn't cross your mind right then and there. Don't try to question my intelligence, cause I won't try to question yours by assuming anything else but that."
"You knew that I will find out that Cece is my daughter when she told me she is four years old?" he asks her feeling dumbfounded.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I meant that it will cross your mind that you might be her dad, not that you are."
Was not planning on making it a cliffhanger but the chapter ended up being too long so I had to divide it into two chapters.
Hope you liked this chapter, tell me what you think in the reviews.
To answer a question in one of the reviews.
Bella and Edward went to the same uni. I don't know about every university out there, but mine had us tested for our blood type and included it in our student ID.
You will be sitting casually on campus minding your own business when someone on a speaker says that a student needs a blood donation and include the blood type. That is how Bella knows his blood type. In my head their university had this too.
