I don't own Twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and the plot of the story.

Author's note at the end of the chapter.

"Cece, if you don't get down right now, we will be late to your dad's," Bella calls out to Cece. It's been a week since they had the Fourth of July party and now they are going to Edward's place for dinner. Last she remembers, Edward doesn't know how to cook, but it seems that things changed and he learned how to after they broke up.

"I am coming mummy," she yells back and then runs down the stairs three minutes later. Bella watches as she puts on her shoes and then opens the door and closes it behind both of them.

"You will not complain about the food, got it?" Bella asks her. Ideally, she would want Edward to know Cece well, but they really don't know how good or bad he is at cooking, and Bella doesn't want to risk Cece hurting his feeling if it's bad. Let her be the one who breaks it to him. She does not mind having a shaky relationship with him if it means her daughter gets to have a good relationship with her dad.

"Okay," Cece tells her right as they park their car in front of his house. Edward knows to greet them at the door as he called me five minutes ago to see when they are coming.

"Eddie!" Cece yells as she runs to her dad the moment she is out of the car.

"Cece!" he exclaims just as loudly the moment she reaches him. He picks her up and spins her around.

Her giggles are infectious as he takes her into the house. "Smells good," Bella tells him smelling the food the moment she steps into the household.

He smiles at her from behind Cece's hair and tells her, "We have homemade pizza, a salad, and lazy cake."

Bella sighs in relief. Pizza isn't hard to mess up once you know how to make the dough and lazy cake is called lazy for a reason, and a salad is simply cut veggies. She won't have to worry about Cece complaining about the taste.

"Do you want another slice of pizza Cece?" Edward asks holding one up.

Cece nods her head and Edward places it in her plate. He lifts another one for Bella in question and she tells him, "If you can find me a smaller one, I am game."

Edward places the piece back and plates her a smaller one. She smiles at him in thanks and laughs at his expression as Cece talks his ear off. It's obvious that he is trying to keep up with her, but is failing miserably.

Bella could get used to this. Edward making dinner and Cece talking their ear off until they can't wait till they put her in her bed. Bella shakes her head to get rid of her thoughts. Where did they come from? Not a good place.

She finishes her plate in silence and watches both of them chat. Once they finish, she helps Cece take the dishes to the sink and put them in the dishwasher. Edward wanted to do that saying that he is the host, but Bella told him that rules are rules. If someone doesn't do the cooking, they will do the cleaning.

Bella and Cece return to find Edward holding three board games in his hands. "I figured that instead of watching something together, we could play a board game."

Cece claps her hands in excitement and runs to Edward. She starts looking the games over and asking Edward a million question. Finally, she settles on monopoly.

"Ohh, how the mighty have fallen," Bella sings as Edward gets thrown in jail. Edward just glares at her in silence.

The both of them keep playing with Cece who gets super excited with the game. They keep going for over an hour until it's time for them to leave.

"I had a lot of fun," Edward tells Bella as they talk outside her car with Cece inside it.

"Cece had a lot of fun too," Bella answers him smiling.

"What about you? Did you have fun?" Edward asks.

Bella frowns then tells him, "It's not about me having fun. What's important is the two of you bond and Cece seeing us as a unit."

The smile on Edward's face drops and he tells her shaking his head, "No. It's about all of us having fun. Cece will sense your disinterest. I don't want to do this if it feels like a chore to you."

Bella looks at her feet and tells him, "I don't know what you want me to say. There is too much history between us for me to pretend that I can simply have fun."

Edward nods his head in understanding and tells her, "I understand."

He turns away and starts walking to his front door, and right as he is about to enter, Bella calls him. "Yes?" he mutters in question as he turns to face her.

"Today wasn't a chore," she calls out. Before Edward can react to her Bella hops into the car and peels out of the street.

Hey lovely people,

I hope you spotted the progress on Bella's part. If you didn't, did you even read the chapter? I could only think of Monopoly. That's the only board game I know of. If you have a board game you enjoy playing with your family, let me know. I am always open to recommendations.
