I don't own twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and the plot of my story.
Important Author's Note at the end.
"I didn't lie," Tanya tells him defensively standing up and sitting on the couch opposite him with her hand crossed. Edward frowns at her in surprise not sure what is up with her. They were not dating six years ago. They meet six years ago sure, but they didn't date. He made sure that Bella knew that distinction.
Did she lose her mind or something?
"Don't look at me like that. I wasn't lying. I have been interested in you since day one. You know that. Sure, we didn't start dating right then and there. But as far as I am concerned we have been together since then," she clarifies raising her head in defiance and looking him in the eye.
So now if it is in my head then it exists in her defense?
"Then please go to her and explain that to her. She is best friends with my ex who I was dating six years ago. Your lie could create a lot of problems for me."
Of course my lie is not going to do that as long as it stays a secret.
She rolls her eyes at him as she gets up and saunters toward him adding an extra sway to her hips. Tanya is extremely sexy on a normal day and knows pretty well how to add even more to it. She comes to stand in front of him and then straddles him.
She wraps her arms around his neck as she whispers in his ear, "why would I do that. An ex is an ex for a reason. Would she even really care?" she asks pouting.
Tanya ramps up the sex factor like a switch when she wants to. To say that Edward is not turned on, would be a lie. The way she is grinding her core into him is making the blood in his veins rush in the wrong direction.
But Tanya doesn't enjoy being objectified by people. She hates when people judge her based on her looks. She usually dresses in an extremely conservative way that undermines her looks. She only plays the sexy card when she is trying to get his mind off something. That is enough to ring alarm bells in his head.
"This has nothing to do with my ex. It has to do with my friend Bella thinking the worst in me," Edward replies but it is of no use as Tanya ignores his words and continues the kissing she started moments ago that has been inching it's way towards his jawline.
"Tanya, you need to promise me to talk to her," he tells her as she starts pulling at the hems of his shirt. She plays with the hair at his waistline before her hands move up to explore the rest of his abdomen.
"Stop talking about her. I wanna celebrate the fact that you aren't sick," she whispers her voice breathy. The scent of her hair overpowering him and overwhelming his senses.
She continues to run her hands all over his chest and runs her fingertips across his nipples a couple of times making it extremely hard for him to think let alone know why he doesn't want to participate.
Him not kissing her back doesn't deter her as she proceeds to run her tongue over his lips trying to gain access. She tries to pull his shirt up only for him to stop.
"God, I give up," she yells jumping off him and standing up.
"I am trying to have sex with you but you wanna hammer on about some college friend who happens to know your ex?"
She blows a breath out of frustration. She bends over making sure to give him an amble view of her butt as she rummages in the clutch that she discarded at the coffee table when she ran in. She finally finds what she is looking for as she pulls back.
She uses the hair tie she found to tie back her hair as she turns to face him with her hands at her waist then asks him, "So, what is so important about Bella knowing the truth?"
"Tanya I don't want Bella to think less of me and assume that I am a cheater and the same applies to my ex," he tells her patiently.
"Why does it matter?"
"It matters because my reputation is extremely important to me. I don't want people to think the worst of me."
"Would it matter if they did? Would you care that much if Bella stopped being your friend over that and your ex confronted you and told you that she thinks less of you?" She asks. To Tanya, it doesn't matter if a friend leaves, many will replace them.
The problem is that Tanya doesn't realize that her money is part of the reason people replace them, if not the only one. The same thing with respect applies, they only do cause they know that being nice to her pays off. She doesn't realize that.
Without her father's money and power, Tanya wouldn't survive in the real world. She might be smart, well educated, and capable of executing her work effectively, but outside of that, she is lost.
He needs to look no further than the fact that her father needed to make Bella break up with him for her to have a shot to know that.
"Yes, it does. The opinion of people matters to me."
"You will get over it," she tells him, thinking that she ended the discussion.
"You do know that Bella is close to my family. If she told them can you imagine what will happen?" he asks her. He knows that at moments like those he needs to find a way to make her believe that what he wants is in her best interest too. That is what he had to retort to in most of their disagreements.
"Does it matter? It's not like they like me," she states rolling her eyes at him.
"Exactly, they like Bella more than you. If she tells them, they will believe her no questions asked. They won't think the worst of me alone. You can kiss them liking you goodbye. And I would like to spend the rest of my life with someone my family likes."
The threat is not missed by her. He knows he shouldn't be giving ultimatums. He knows that they are a sure sign that things are heading south, but he won't back down this time. She walks toward him and drops to her knees.
"Babe if I do that, she will think that you control me. Do you want her to think that?" she asks him leaning her forehead against his and closing her eyes.
"It's better than thinking that I am a cheater," he replies. Her eyes snap open.
"My answer is different than yours."
"It's not that serious. Things are less tense than you think they are. If you explain things to her she will applaud you and respect your decision not think less of you," he tells her soothingly, his hand rubbing her fingers gently.
"No, it is. I will never look less than in front of her. Maybe if it was someone else sure, but not her," Tanya snaps getting away from him.
"What is going on Tanya. You are making it too personal. Bella has never done anything to you."
For a second he wonders if Tanya found out that Bella is his ex but dismisses the thought cause if she did she would have made it known the moment she found out. She isn't the one to sit back and he silent.
"Because it is personal. This Bitch is a monster and I hate her. I will never let her get the best of me. Not after what she did," Tanya rants getting off the floor and pacing his living room looking ready to commit murder.
He is taken aback my Tanya's words because they are the opposite of how she behaves in front of him toward Bella.
"What did she do?" he asks patiently.
"She had an affair with dad when mum was still alive."
I hope this chapter answers your question as to why Tanya stays with Edward. I know some of you guys might not be happy with Edward keeping Tanya, but its not time for her to leave yet, and her presence will serve a purpose a couple of chapters down the line.
One of you guys commented that this is not how cancer works. I know it doesn't. That said, sometimes when people have cancer they end up with side effects that they need to medicate for a period after recovering from cancer. Many people just point out that their medication is cancer related instead of telling them that it is related to a side effect of cancer. Of course, if that person was a stranger, you wouldn't mention the cancer part but in nonformal settings, most people aren't as accurate.
Moreover, both of them were extremely angry and frustrated at each other so it makes sense for Bella to go for the shock factor. Now you have to understand that she is also trying to get him off her back. Giving him an explanation that has cancer in it when she could not mention it and play it off as some small thing would be out of character for her. Him finding about cancer made him ask less questions which is what she wanted.
