Chapter Nine – Hot Summer

The Reigns Household, Pensacola, Florida
Beth and Jeff Hardy were besides themselves with anxiety over what had happened between Stephanie and Hunter back in Washington DC. While Stephanie insisted that the kiss didn't mean anything, it made it incredibly uncomfortable for the Hardys and the DX family to be in the same space. Hence, why Jeff and Beth Hardy were in Florida and Stephanie and the DX family were in New York City with Seth and the God Girls. Jeff and Beth needed space themselves; being around the DX family in New York right now was too humiliating for them, so they went back to the one person that could give them comfort.
The Tribal Chief looked after them with his own family. He was already looking after Abiyah Rollins while Seth and the God Girls were on trial, having the Hardys back was no problem at all.
"I really think you guys need to relax," Roman assured Jeff and Beth who were drinking some of Jeff Hardy's homemade herbal peach and black tea. "Stress brings out the memories in most of us. When stuff gets rough and let's face it, your family is going through some rough times with this trial and Shane McMahon right now, people tend to fall back on what's familiar. Stephanie isn't trying to hurt you guys, being around Hunter against her brother just brought back a lot of good memories that's all. I think it would be a mistake to take any of what happened in DC personally,"
"Roman I've been through this," Jeff Hardy said to the Tribal Chief. "I've seen Stephanie fall in and out of love with Hunter before. I know she loves me but when this happens, sometimes I can't help but wonder which of us she truly loves. When the chips are down and her brother is driving her insane, I can handle it but when it comes to DX…this is just too hard man,"
Beth Hardy sighed, "I agree with Roman, mom is stressed. She has no interest in Uncle Hunter but I understand how you feel dad. I'm kinda torn myself; I would much rather be in New York City with mom and the God Girls but I didn't wanna leave you alone," she said and her father kissed her on the head.
"No that's fine baby girl, if you wanna go and help out in New York that's fine. I'm gonna stay here and sulk with Roman," Jeff Hardy said and Abiyah who was playing with Ra-Ra and his blue bear on the mat, sighed.
"Please no, God no," he said and Roman shot him a look of disapproval. "You both need to get out of here, you're dragging down the whole vibe of this place. I wanna spend time with my dad, not you two miserable people,"
"Abiyah that's enough," Roman rebuked his son and Abiyah fell on his back and made a starfish shape with his arms.
"Can't we go to the beach? It's a great way to relax. I know you like water Uncle Jeff," Abiyah said and Jeff Hardy nodded.
"You know what Abi, that's a great idea. What do you say Roman, wanna go hang out at the beach?" Jeff Hardy said.
"Actually I told some of the roster I'd go and meet them in town. Some of the talent are pretty concerned about Summerslam with all stuff going on with DX, Seth and the God Girls. Maybe next time," Roman said and he picked up Abiyah and left with Ra-Ra, leaving Beth and Jeff to decide what they wanted to do while he was away.
"Do you wanna go to the beach or do you want to go to New York and face the music with Steph?" Jeff asked Beth who nodded.
"We've given her enough space, let's get back to our real family," Beth said and the Hardys left for the East Coast hoping to mend the wound that Stephanie and Hunter had ripped open once again.
On their way into town, Roman continued to chastise Abiyah who was about as receptive as he had ever been to his father's instructions since Seth and Sasha had been arrested for stealing classified military assets.
"I want you to be more sensitive when people are hurting Abiyah. Don't turn into a Bonehead like your Uncle Hunter. He is one of the most insensitive people I have ever known and I don't want that to rub off on you. You're my kid and I want you to behave the right way. When people are hurting I want you to show compassion okay?" Roman said and Abiyah furrowed his brow while stroking Ra-Ra.
"You're not like the tough guy you play on TV dad," Abiyah said. "Give me a break I'm only 2 years old,"
"Don't play the age card with me; you're a very special kid, just like Faith Star and Rebecca Rogan, you can hide behind your birth date all you want, I know you understand what I'm saying. Use your tongue for good and not evil," Roman said.
"But they were being so pathetic," Abiyah said. "I ain't got time for pathetic people dad, I'm all about action,"
Roman smiled, "Okay so you're proactive, I like that, that's my boy. You still gonna show empathy but I guess I'm gonna have to teach you that while Seth and Sasha are on trial, or at least until they're out of hiding," he said and Abiyah nodded.
"I miss them dad, but all this sensitivity talk is gonna make me runaway to New York. You don't want that do you?" Abiyah said and Roman shook his head that he didn't. "Good, then give it a rest and be the Tribal Chief!"
Roman smiled and he picked up Abiyah and tickled him until he laughed and when they got to where the roster was waiting for them, it was clear to the roster that Abiyah was right at home with the Head of the Table.
"Okay enough with the soppy stuff," Rhea Ripley said firmly. "Finn Balor and AJ Styles have gone missing,"
"They're probably hanging out with Cody and Kenny, relax Rhea. Here, have a kid," Roman said handing Abiyah to Rhea but Abiyah wriggled free not wanting to be held by the Eradicator.
"I love you too," Rhea said and she growled at Abiyah causing Ra-Ra to growl at her.
"If I know Finn Balor and I think I do, he's up to no good but we can't focus on him. We've got a major show in a few weeks and with Charlotte, Bayley, Becky and Alexa under arrest, you need to be ready," Roman said to Rhea and the rest of the roster. "That goes for all of you guys, I know my storyline is in tact but its not just about me is it?"
Austin Theory furrowed his brow, "Are you kidding Roman? Of course its about you, its always about you," he snapped before walking off.
"Austin wait!" Roman said but Austin continued to walk away, "What's with him?"
"He broke up with his girlfriend," Damien Priest explained.
"Who that McCool chick? That was weeks ago, I would have thought he'd be with someone by now," Roman said but Rey Mysterio shook his masked head.
"Nope, I think he really liked her and he realises that he made a mistake by getting into this whole war with Shane McMahon against her family. I think he wants her back. Don't tell him I said this but I caught him crying in the locker room over the weekend,"
"Oh for crying out loud, that's it, I'm going to the beach dad, I've had enough of this tear fest. You wrestlers really need to stay in character when you're off TV," Abiyah Rollins said but Roman picked him up and blew a raspberry on his belly causing him to laugh out.
"Never mind him, he just needs some sensitivity training. I'll talk to Austin, maybe he can win Carla back," Roman said and Rhea smiled.
"With your help, he can win the heart of any chick," Rhea said and Roman grinned.
"Seriously, have a kid Rhea," Roman said handing her his son but once again Abiyah wriggled free and the wrestlers laughed at how cute he was. "Let's talk more at the beach, I'm on dad duty and my boy isn't going to stop until he gets what he wants,"
"Like father like son," Rey Mysterio said and the roster headed to the beach with Roman and Abiyah.
"They sure bonded well," Zelina Vega said and Mia Yim nodded. "Shame that won't the case once Seth and Sasha come back,"
"You mean if Seth and Sasha come back. If DX, Seth and the God Girls go down, this could be a permanent arrangement," Mia Yim said and Liv Morgan shook her head.
"Seth and the God Girls will never go down, you'll see. When this summer ends, Shane McMahon is going to regret ever trying to mess with our Girls," Liv said and Mia and Zelina furrowed their brows at her.
"You want Charlotte, Becky, Bayley and Alexa to come back? How dumb are you Liv? The longer the God Girls stay away, the more TV time we get. This is a business chica, not a fan girl club. You better put your name on Summerslam and forget about those God Girls and start thinking about Liv Morgan," Zelina said and Liv Morgan sighed as it was clear that not all of the locker room wanted the God Girls to come back.
Liv tapped Rhea on the shoulder and she turned and gave her a dark look. "What?" she snapped.
"You miss the God Girls don't you?" Liv asked the Eradicator.
"I love competition so yeah I'll be happy when they're back so I can keep beating the crap out of them," Rhea returned. "I'm not threatened by other women, the more of us there are, the stronger the division will be,"
"That's what I think," Liv said noticing the look of scorn on the faces of Zelina and Mia and she couldn't wait for the God Girls to return and change the looks on their hateful faces. "Wanna team up against Zelina and Mia at Summerslam?"
"Nah, I got bigger fish to fry. That's a house show match at best. Plus you don't need me to beat up those to idiots. God Liv, when are you going to stand on your own two feet?" Rhea said leaving Liv speechless. "Now's the time to stand out, stop finding someone to hide behind and let the world see how truly talented you are,"
Liv nodded and ran up to Roman and pitched an idea for her at Summerslam. Now it was the Tribal Chief that was speechless.
