I don't own Twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and the plot of the story.
Author's note at the end of the chapter.
A couple of minutes later, Victoria tells Edward, "You can go to your bedroom or something if you want to. You don't have to babysit me."
Edward barks a laugh then tell her, "No way in hell. I don't trust you," then returns to silently observing her.
Victoria raises an eyebrow and then tells him, "That's offensive. It's not like I would steal anything."
"What's offensive is doing what you did to a friend," Edward yells out then lowers his voice to continue, "What's offensive is you using your daughter to backstab a woman you befriended."
Victoria stares at him for a moment unflinching as he yells then tells him once he is done, "What I did was for my daughter, and if I went back in time again, I would do it. It was never about Bella."
Edward barks a laugh at that then tells her, "There were other ways for you to do it."
"Did Bella have any options aside from leaving when Denali ordered her to?"
That shuts Edward up. As much as it pains him to admit it, he knows that Denali has too much power. He had the power to force Bella's hand and make her move, and he has the power to make Victoria hurt Bella. The question is; would Bella have killed anyone under Denali's instructions?
Would he kill to protect Bella from Denali?
The answer is simple; he would kill to protect Bella. Bella would have figured out a way to not kill, but Edward would never risk it. He would do anything to keep her safe. That's a fact he has been struggling with since he found out what Victoria did. He isn't very different from her.
"Your silence is all the answer I need. You and I aren't very different. I bet you would kill to protect Bella too," Victoria finally tells him smirking after minutes of silence as if reading his thoughts.
"I don't know what you are on about?" he tells her gruffly.
Now it's Victoria's turn to laugh, "Don't be ridiculous. Anyone with eyes can tell that you are in love with Bella."
"Zip it and keep your voice down," Edward tells her not wanting Bella to hear them. When Bella learns that he loves her, it will be from him, not from this bitch.
Victoria giggles lightly then tells him, "You want to keep it a secret? That's adorable."
"Shut it."
"You know, part of the mission was for me to seduce you and for James to seduce Bella, but one look at your face and I knew that it would be impossible. Aphrodite herself couldn't seduce you and you would never let anyone get to Bella. That's why James hasn't struck either of you yet. He is still trying to come up with a plan," Victoria tells him.
"Shut up. Your chattering is annoying. I don't want to hear it," Edward mutters in frustration.
"Why? I am having so much fun," Victoria tells him smirking.
Edward glares at her as he states, "You're not here to have fun, so shut up."
Victoria nods her head and Edward heaves a sigh of relief happy that she won't keep talking. She is talking about things he would rather not hear and frankly, he feels that she might land herself too close to home if she keeps talking.
But his sigh came too early, as minutes later she inquires, "When do you think Bella will stop pretending that she doesn't know that you love her?"
Blinking, once, and then another time, Edward stares at her for a second trying to make sense of what she just said. "Enough is enough," he mutters to himself.
He gets off the couch and goes around the coffee table till he is standing in front of her and tells her, "Get out."
"I still have five minutes to go," she tells him smirking.
"I don't care. Get out," Edward tells her then yanks her up and drags her to the door. "Twenty-five minutes is more time than you deserve."
"Wait a minute," she demands once they reach the door.
"What?"
"I am only a phone call away from telling you I told you so." She winks at him then spins around and leaves before he has a chance to react.
He slams the door behind her and starts pacing in front of it until he hears what makes him pause. "Edward. Is she gone already?"
He looks up and finds Bella looking down at him from the top of the stairs. He nods his head silently as he tries to calm himself down.
"Are you okay?" she asks him looking worried.
"Yeah, yeah, I am fine. Just Victoria said something that pissed me off," he tells her after he rubs his hands over his face.
"I can make you some tea. That will calm your nerves," she tells him as she slowly walks down the stairs.
"Nonsense, you're tired. Rest and I will go for a run. That will help me."
Before she can say anything, Edward leaves through the door, but instead of walking to the park, he gets in his car and drives around until he finds himself parking in front of a bar.
