Chapter Fourteen – Puzzled on the Pacific
The BayRock beach house, Malibu, CA
The Rock paced back and forth as John Cena arranged a meeting with Austin Theory, a wild card that Cena had thrown out as a possible way to get rid of Shane McMahon's attack on Seth and the God Girls. The young upstart wasn't the only WWE Superstar making his way to the Rock's Malibu home right now.
"Hello?" The Rock said into his intercom, he wasn't expecting anybody but Cena and Austin. So, it really surprised the People's Champion when Finn Balor and the rest of Judgement Day showed up to see him.
"Hey Rock, the roster's heading home before we start the weekend loop in Florida and we just wanted to take some time to talk to you about an idea that we've been considering and it involves your cousin," Finn said and the Rock furrowed his brow.
"Which one?" he answered curiously.
"The big one, Roman Reigns," Finn answered and Rocky let the Judgement Day into his home so he could hear what they had to say about his most famous cousin.
The Judgement Day had been all over social media after an altercation had broken out between them and the Hurt Business in New York City. The fans were wondering if they were going to have a match in the Fall but there had been no response from WWE HQ with regards to shows after Summerslam. It had been radioing silent but the Judgement Day weren't about to let that be the case much longer. So, while Rhea was babysitting Tez and Sasha in New York City, Finn, Damien and Dominik were going into business for themselves to make sure they were the only faction anyone was talking about when DX regained control of the WWE.
"So, what brings you to my beautiful home?" Rocky asked JD after offering them some lemon iced tea.
"No thanks, we're gonna be hitting the bar later on tonight," Finn said turning down the Rock's act of hospitality. "We were hoping you'd help us build a feud between Judgement Day and the Bloodline,"
"I'm not really doing wrestling right now guys, I've got major work going on in Hollywood right now," Rocky said sitting down. "What's your idea?"
"We want you to run the WWE," Damien Priest said and the Rock's mouth dropped.
"This is incredible," he said amused, "I just got a call from Linda McMahon and she said the same thing, she wants me to run the WWE too,"
"Great minds think alike I guess," Finn Balor said while Damien and Dominik exchanged concerned glances. The last thing they needed was a McMahon getting involved in their plan to avenge Rhea's loss to Liv Morgan at Summerslam. "If you take over the WWE, you won't have to work any matches, all you'd have to do is show up and exert your authority just like Vince McMahon used to do,"
"I'm already running so many companies, the WWE is a huge corporation I'd have to bring on a whole team to help me run it," Rocky said.
"But if you did it, you'd be able to keep an eye on Seth Rollins," Finn said and Rock's chest tightened at the mention of the leader of the God Girls.
"What does he have to do with me running the WWE?" Rocky asked tersely.
"Don't you want to make sure Bayley sees your face more often than his?" Finn said. "I've been married to Becky for three months and I've seen her three times since Seth got back with the God Girls. Who knows how long you'll go not seeing Bayley, your marriage will be in jeopardy just like mine and just like Bianca's and Tez's. If you ran the WWE, you could control Seth's dates so that he and the God Girls would be on different schedules. You could even give Bayley an internal position at HQ so you could spend more time with her during the day. How cool would that be Rocky?"
Rocky nodded liking what Finn was selling but it was clear from the way Finn was talking that he didn't know that Bayley would have to come off the road soon because she was pregnant.
"That really won't be an issue for me and Bayley now Finn, my wife's pregnant with our first child, she'll be off the road soon anyway," Rocky said.
"Bayley's pregnant? So why is she running around New York City with Seth instead of chilling at home with you? Do you want her to end up like Bianca Belair? Seth hasn't given Bianca a day's rest since the God Girls got back together with him. Do you want that for your newly pregnant wife?" Finn said and Rocky shook his head adamantly.
"No Finn, I don't but I can't take up such a major position just to keep an eye on my wife, or yours," Rocky said but he was clearly pressed about the whole situation. "You should know that I have something in the works to get the God Girls some help. If my plan comes through you could be seeing Becky a lot more sooner than later,"
Finn grimaced at the Rock, "Or I could see her after New Year's because that's how long its going to take for the God Girls to stop Shane McMahon without our help," Finn said and another buzz from the intercom interrupted their conversation.
"Rocky, its me and Theory. You're gonna like what he has to say about Shane McMahon," John Cena said and the Rock smiled while buzzing Cena in.
"Stick around JD, things are about to get crazy in Manhattan for Mr Shane O'Mac," the Rock said and the Judgement Day exchanged glances wondering what on Earth John Cena and Austin Theory had planned and how they were going to talk the Rock out of it.
Meanwhile in New York City…
Rhea Ripley was in the Fords' apartment looking up at Sasha Banks who was breathing fast after Montez Ford and Rhea Ripley just successfully dispatched the Hurt Business. Shane McMahon had sent Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander to force Sasha Banks to leave with them to see Shane. But Rhea Ripley was having none of it and together with Montez Ford, they fought the Hurt Business in the streets just outside the apartment and it was all over social media. "Rhea Ripley takes on the Hurt Business" was the headline of most wrestling media sites and posts of social. Sasha of course hated people thinking she needed to be rescued by Dom's hot Aussie girlfriend.
"I could have handled them myself if I wasn't pregnant," Sasha said.
"No doubt Boss but you are pregnant and you're welcome but I didn't take on the entire Hurt Business for you. I did it for Bianca, if anything happened to you Seth would fall to pieces. I'm your insurance policy, not Tez, just remember that when this whole thing blows over," Rhea said and she helped Sasha to her feet while Tez checked his phone.
"I got a message from Bianca, she said she found the Damsels of Destruction and we need to make our way to this address," Tez said.
"She's texting you?" Sasha said and Tez nodded, "Well that means Seth and the God Girls are no longer incognito and we can go see them. They must have found a way to get rid of my stupid dad!"
"Not quite Sasha," came the calm and collected voice of Shane McMahon, "you're not-so-stupid dad, is right here,"
Shane McMahon walked into the Fords' apartment but he wasn't alone, behind him stood the 7-foot-tall Omos.
"Run," Rhea said to Sasha and Tez. "Get out of here now, I'll take care of this,"
"We're not leaving you here," Montez Ford said and Sasha looked at Shane McMahon with disdain.
"No, stand down both of you," she said and Tez and Rhea looked at her like she was crazy, "I'll go with you daddy, just please don't hurt them,"
"At a girl Sasha, let's go," Shane said but Tez and Rhea blocked her.
"You're not leaving with him, if you go with him, Seth will never see you again," Rhea said and Sasha nodded resolutely with a smile.
"If there's one thing I've learned after all these years Rhea its that nothing will ever break me and Seth Rollins apart," Sasha said and she walked towards Shane McMahon leaving both Tez and Rhea fearing for her life instead of their own.
"Do you wanna run after her?" Rhea asked Tez.
"Yes, but not for the reasons you think I should," Tez said and Rhea gave him a look of derision.
"You can't end your marriage over someone else's wife Tez, come to your senses and go back to Bianca," Rhea said and Omos gave her a headbutt knocking her out cold.
Tez looked at Omos with disgust, "Oh you about to meet this year's David," he vowed before he launched himself at a 21st century Goliath while a knocked-out Rhea counted Liv Morgan sized sheep on the apartment floor.
