Chapter 5

Bella stood staring at the huge Volturi jet that was going to be taking her back home and was in total awe. It was a fairly large aircraft for being privately owned, but then she assumed some missions there would need to be many of the guard transported and it made sense. It had been 2 days since she made the plans to head back to Forks and spoke with Charlie. He was still upset and confused, but glad that she would be seeing him soon. Bella completely understood his anger, but she had to make him see that this was good for her. Marcus was able to speak with Forks High and get them to allow her to finish her school work online as long as he over saw her progress.

She slowly walked up the ramp and onto the jet, she turned and made her way to a seat, Alec was walking right behind her and sat across from her smiling. She noticed Jane sat as far away from her as possible, which did not really surprise her, Jane seem to not like Bella at all. Felix and Demetri sat in the next grouping of seats and Felix winked at Bella. Bella blushed and looked away, Felix was so bold with her, it was actually kind of nice. Marcus walked onto the plane and sat across from Jane. It surprised Bella that Marcus was actually coming along, but he said he was going to stop into Forks High to complete everything for her. The door closed behind Marcus and the jet started to taxi down the runway, Bella took a deep breath and watched out the window as the world grew smaller. This was bound to be a long flight, she pulled out a book she borrowed from the huge Volturi library.

The flight was long and Bella went between reading, sleeping, and talking quietly with Alec. The view out the little window was breathtaking and she was glad she was actually able to look and appreciate the view this time. As they touched down in Seattle Bella began to feel some anxiety and her heart rate and breathing picked up and it was noticed. Alec leaned forward and placed his hand gently on Bella's knee, "Everything will be okay and I am sorry it needs to be like this, but I would not change this for anything because it brought you to me." he said with a soft smile, his voice full of compassion. It made Bella smile a bit and relax slightly, she nodded her head in thanks and breathed deeply. She knew this was not what she had originally wanted, no Edward, no Cullens, but she had Alec who was so good to her. All he had done was try to make this situation easier on her. Even the Kings mostly had been understanding and worked with her, it was strange that this was not how they had originally been portrayed to her. She was though becoming a vampire and she would still have a family of sorts, not the original plan but that's okay. The plane had taxied into a private bay and there were black cars with tinted windows, because it was dusk, waiting for them to take them into Forks. Charlie had wanted to pick her up, but she convinced him that it was easier for her to ride with her new friends to Forks. As they loaded up in the 3 black cars Bella thought about seeing her dad and hoped that everything would be okay.

After checking into the rented house Bella, Alec, Felix, Marcus, and Jane, very begrudgingly, left for Charlie's house. It did not take too long for them to be pulling up outside of the small two story brown house. Alec was first out of the car and turned offering his hand for Bella, she took it exiting the car as everyone else got out and followed Bella and Alec up the walk to the front door. Bella raised her hand nervously and knocked, then she heard her father's voice, "One minute" he had yelled probably from his favorite chair in front of the television. Bella smiled as she waited front her dad to make it to the door.

Charlie had opened the door smiling and then they watched his face change to surprise. "Hi dad." Bella greeted him happily.

"Hi Bells, who have you got here?" Charlie said concerned.

Bella stepped forward to give Charlie a hug, then she turned to the group watching them. "Dad let me introduce my new friends. This is Alec, Jane, Felix, and Marcus." She said gesturing to each of the vampires there.

"Pleasure to meet you Sir." Alec said stepping up and shaking Charlie's hand. Charlie nodded his greeting with a strange look on his face.

"Chief Swan, it is so nice to meet you. My name is Marcus Volturi and I will be over seeing Bella's education in Italy." Marcus said in a soft tone, stepping forward and smiling slightly at Charlie.

Charlie was hesitant in shaking Marcus's hand, but he did so. "I still do not understand what happened to warrant my Bells moving to Italy? I am not happy about this and do not feel it's appropriate." Charlie said stiffly. "But come inside and we can talk about this." he said stepping aside to allow this strange group of people into his home. His eyes grew wide as the huge body of Felix walked by him smiling into the house. Jane entered last as she was not happy about being cramped and uncomfortable around this human, she felt this was ridiculous and unnecessary. Charlie followed the group into his living room, Felix was leaning against the wall next to the fireplace, Marcus was standing by the couch that Bella and Alec were sitting on, and Jane had gone to stand by the back door.

Bella watched her dad make his way to his chair, he was analyzing the people around him like only a police officer would. He sat down and looked at Bella, "Kiddo, I can not understand what has made you decide that moving to Italy is your only decision. I think you need to take time to really think about this." He said seriously. He looked up at Marcus who was clearly in charge, "It isn't that I'm not grateful for the opportunity this opens for Bella, I just think she should look at all her opportunities she has for college before making her decision." He said trying hard to not sound rude.

Bella sighed deeply looking at her father, "Cha-dad shouldn't this by my decision? Honestly if anything good has come out of my time with Edward, this opportunity will allow so many options to open for me. Why can't you just be happy for me?" Bella pleaded with him trying to make him see reason. As she finished her statement she noticed out of the corner of her eye Jane stiffen by the door and in response so did every other vampire in the room. Her only thought was it was either the Cullens or the wolves approaching.

"Bella." Charlie said softly looking around at those in the room, "You just moved back in with me and now you want me to let you go halfway around the world. Do you not see how hard this is for me?" He said pained realizing he was losing this fight.

A low hiss came from Jane too low for the humans in the room to hear, Felix made his way over to Jane at a human pace to see what was going on. On the edge of the forest were 3 native american men and the smell that was just making the way to their nose was terrible. "Werewolves?" Jane questioned at vampire speed to Felix and he shook his head. "This is a different type of smell." Felix answered back.

"Enough." Marcus's soft voice spoken at vampire speed cut the conversation off before it could get too far. "Isabella, my dear, is there anything you want to grab while we are here for now? We can get anything else you need later." Marcus said clearly wanting to get going. He was feeling unsure with the talk of wolves around, he gestured for Alec to help his mate get anything she needed.

Bella stood up feeling slightly confused on the change of topic, Alec stood up beside her taking her hand. "Lead the way Bella and I will help you." Alec said with a gentle smile.

Bella gave a sad smile to Charlie, "Be back down in a moment dad." she said and lead Alec up to her room to grab a few things. Charlie watched his only daughter go up the stairs with the strange young man and really felt like he was losing her all over again.

"Charlie, do not look so sad. I promise you will be able to talk to her as often as you want to and she will be back for graduation. She may be a far distance away, but she will still be close with you, she cares about you a great deal. You should be proud of the woman she has become." Marcus said with a warm smile trying to be as open and honest with the man as possible. He was impressed with the ties between the police chief and his daughter and he didn't want to see this ruin their relationship just yet. It was an odd feeling for Marcus to have strong feelings like this for humans, but he cared about Isabella and wanted to see her happy.

Bella and Alec had entered her room and she grabbed a small duffle bag and began to load up some things she wanted with her. She started with some clothes and her favorite books, then she grabbed her bag of toiletries because she loved the brand she bought. The last thing she grabbed was her purse, she never grabbed that when she followed Alice, she only had her passport at the time. Looking around she realized how much she was going to miss this room and her dad and she began tearing up.

Alec had been watching Bella from the doorway, but had moved forward as he watched her face fall and her eyes tear up. He gently pulled her into his arms and held her closely, "I am sorry Bella, this must be so hard for you. You know though this is what must happen, but you can still talk to your dad and you will see him again at your high school graduation ceremony. I know it will be a difficult adjustment for you, but I think that it will work out." He said softly rubbing her back soothingly.

"Thank you Alec, I appreciate your support with all this. You all have gone above and beyond what I deserve so thank you." Bella said breathless from silently crying.

"You do deserve this, sweetheart. Do not sell yourself short, you are a remarkable woman and I am glad that you walked into my life." Alec said with a soft sweet smile.

Bella shook her head in disagreement, but decided against arguing about it. "I think that I am good for now, everything else can be packed up and shipped to Volterra. Are you ready?" She asked Alec wiping the tears from her face and grabbing her bag.

"Yes, I am ready. Let me grab that." Alec said taking the bag and turning to walk down the stairs to the living room again. Bella just shook her head in aggravation and followed him down. Marcus was waiting at the bottom of the stairs with Jane and Felix who seemed very much on edge. Bella noticed her dad standing in the doorway to the living room and she made her way over him giving him a hug.

"Talk to you later dad, I will see you before heading back to Italy. I will miss you so much." Bella said her cheek against Charlie's chest.

"Yes Bells, I will see you before you head back and you better stay in touch." Charlie said sadly kissing Bella on the top of her head. He then pulled back and allowed his daughter to leave with the strange group of people. They all seemed nice enough, but they made him on edge just being near them.

"Bye dad." Bella said as she walked away and out the door surrounded by the Volturi vampires. She glanced around and noticed that everyone seemed really tense and their eyes kept sweeping the area. She felt the need to stay close to Alec unsure of what had them on edge. They got in the car and started down the road only to come to an abrupt stop and as she glanced out the front window she was met with the very angry glare of one Jacob Black standing in the middle of the road.
