Tech let out a frustrated groan as his alarm blared, jolting him awake. The canid sighed and grunted as he slapped the snooze button on his alarm clock, slipping out from under the blankets and letting out a big yawn as he checked the time. "Ugh, 4:30 am." Tech moaned. "God, I really am a glutton for punishment."
Tech flexed his powers and straightened out his bed before walking over to his dresser and brushing himself out before getting dressed. Tech sighed as he grabbed his field bag and packed a couple changes of pajamas and his grooming materials before zipping it up and tossing it over his shoulder, grabbing his suitcase on his way out of his room.
Tech tossed his suitcase onto the sofa before taking the elevator up to his lab. Looking around, the coyote let out a shiver, nervous about leaving all of his precious creations behind. He knew it had to be done; he couldn't very well take his entire lab with him after all. But his conversation with Lexi the other day left him shaking, fearing the worst might happen if he were to leave his lab or his room unguarded for too long. It especially didn't help knowing that Danger had a nasty habit of poking around the others' rooms and nobody aside from maybe Rev seemed to care enough to stop him despite knowing that he does this.
Tech trotted over to the medical station and snatched up his patchwork teddy, giving another heavy sigh as he nuzzled it and whispered, "I'm really going to need you to be there for me this week." Tech placed the bear into his field bag before heading back out to the lab and began locking up his most important tools and equipment, making sure to secure the things in his lab that would be extremely difficult if not impossible to fix or replace should it get broken or go missing.
"Tech?" a voice called. Tech turned to see Ace standing in the lab's doorway. "What're you doing up here? I figured you'd want to grab some breakfast before you head down to the Bullet Station."
"I do," Tech nodded, typing away on his supercomputer, "But I'm not about to leave my lab open and vulnerable for the next three to five days. I just want to make sure that anything and everything that can't be replaced is safely secured." "And if we should need access to any of this stuff while you're away?" Ace queried. "I'll leave the emergency key with you," Tech said pointing to a small green keycard, "If you ever need to access any particular weapons, vehicles, equipment, or medical stuff, place the card on the touchpad on the supercomputer's keyboard. Just make sure you lock everything back up when you're done."
"Isn't this a bit extreme?" Ace asked. "Gee, I don't know, Ace," Tech said derisively, "Are you and the others going to keep Duck out of my lab and bedroom while I'm away helping Rev? Or do you think he'll jump at the opportunity to try and find my private journal the second I'm over the county line?"
"Um, uh," Ace droned, taking a moment to think over his response before saying with an awkward shrug, "I guess you kind of have a point." Tech just nodded as the lockdown process finished up, handing Ace the keycard and saying, "Yeah, that's what I thought."
"Come on, let's grab something to eat before heading down to the station." Ace chuckled, patting Tech's shoulder. "You guys are coming to the station?" Tech asked, "Why?"
"Well, mostly because Slam really wants to say goodbye," Ace joked, "But also because Rev sent us a mass-text last night asking us all to see him off. He even had me phone Zadavia to tell her he wants her to come, too."
"She going to show up?" Tech asked. "Knowing her, she'll probably be cutting it close. But yeah, she'll show." Ace nodded, "Though I'm not sure why he wanted all of us to be there. He mentioned something about having something important he wanted to talk to us about before he left for home."
Tech rubbed his chin pensively and hummed as he and Ace rode the elevator back down to the living area of the tower. "I wonder what he could need to talk about." Tech pondered. "Not sure," Ace shrugged, "I guess we'll find out soon enough, though."
