Chapter 45

"That was clever." Grayfia praised with a smiled, as she raised another sturdy wall of ice to block an empowered and accelerated orb of electricity that was fired at her, generating a strong explosion that shattered most of her defense into pieces "But you two will have to try harder than that, Naruto-sama, Rias-ojou sama."

"Certainly not like this." The silver haired maid then continued, twirling around and using her bare hand to stop Naruto's swing with the mercury hammer of Jayce in his hands, making the blond widen his eyes in surprise.

The blond certainly had not returned to full strength just yet, as he was still recovering from the aftereffects of being taken over by Rhaast, but the pure physical power the strongest queen of the underworld was currently displaying was just ridiculous. He knew from his time in the Underworld with Grayfia that was still holding back when she was training him, it's just that he really did not know she had never really gotten serious.

Gathering her demonic power into the palm of her hand, Grayfia then unleashed it at Naruto in the form of a blast of icy winds, forcing the blond to jump back to dodge. However, because the speed of Grayfia's attack was much faster than he had expected, Naruto was almost hit by it, but then an enormous beam of light, shadow and crimson red power of destruction blasted over the entire training ground, knocking a surprised Grayfia away but forming a barrier around Naruto. The barrier, infused with Rias' demonic power, was able to effectively annihilate the maid's icy winds before it could hit her boyfriend, allowing him to land on his feet safely.

"Thanks, Rias!" Naruto shouted to his girlfriend, who was wearing the smoky white hoodie of Senna and wielding her relic cannon, and switched his weapon to Starfire Spellblade and Ornn's Hammer, wielding them both in his hands as he engaged Grayfia in a fierce close range battle while she was wielding her own ice daggers.

With the hammer, Naruto used it to empower his sword strikes every time he switched stances, switching back and forth between its standard fire and lightning balance breaker form to catch Grayfia off guard. Proving herself to be an experienced fighter, the silver haired maid managed to avoid almost every lightning sword slash from Naruto, as she doubted that the result would be pretty for her, and used her powerful ice magic to counter Naruto's flaming wave attacks, with the holy flame of an angel being enhanced by the fire of the Forge god. Every time that one of her ice daggers shattered because of his lightning hammer, the maid quickly created another one, and allowed her to keep fighting without pause.

For a moment, Naruto and Grayfia proved themselves to be almost evenly matched, with Rias providing fire support from behind her boyfriend to force Grayfia into a defensive position with continuous beams of Piercing Darkness, firing from the twin barrels of Senna's relic cannon, even though she was having a difficult time moving and using the heavy cannon at the same time. Lately, ever since the doctor allowed him to start training again, he and Rias had been training a lot with each other like this, improving their duo synergy.

Naruto had also let her utilize the strength of many of his champions to see which one would suit her role as the leader best and maximize the strength of her demonic power. From what they had discovered so far, Senna, the Redeemer, seemed to be the one with the skillset that worked best with her, as Rias could remain in the backline to give instructions and provide strong support in both defense and offense, as she could empower the shots of Senna's cannon with her demonic power to further increase its power.

"Very good, you two." Grayfia praised, before her daggers began to glow with an icy aura, allowing her to cleave Rias' orb of destruction into two before she swung them up and parried Naruto's strike violently, almost catching him off balance and knocking the blond back with a shockwave "But this little game of ours ends now."

With that said, the silver haired maid conjured a magic circle in front of her, firing a blast of pure demonic power at Rias, who was not fast enough to dodge it. Naruto, with his eyes widening in surprise, made both of the weapons in his hands disappear, and ran over to his girlfriend to shield her from the attack using Leona's shield. As Rias took cover behind him, the blast of demonic power pushed the two of them back, dispersing into smaller beams when it came into contact with the glowing surface of the shields and destroying the area around them before it eventually ended.

Seeing that the attack had stopped, Naruto, who made the Shield of Daybreak disappear, conjured a range weapon his hand and got ready to join Rias in shooting at Grayfia, only to find himself and his girlfriend at dagger-point by Grayfia, who had a nonchalant look on her face as she held the tips of her daggers at their necks. Both Rias and Naruto knew that they had lost, as there were little ways for them to get out of their current spots.

"You are doing much better than yesterday, Naruto-sama." The maid said, as she lowered her weapons down and spoke to the two of them. "However, there are issues that we still need to address. Rias-ojou sama, you need to train your body harder to move effectively with a weapon like that. You will only make yourself a much bigger target if you cannot move fast enough to avoid enemies or attacks that are coming straight toward you."

"I understand, thank you Grayfia." Rias replied to the maid as her misty hood and cannon disappeared. As the king of her peerage she was always the highest prioritized targets of her group, so while her supporting capabilities with Senna was great from the backline, if she could not defense herself effectively when the enemies started aiming for her instead, then she would only become a burden for servants, which had always been the last thing she wanted for herself and them.

"And Naruto-sama, you are too concerned about Rias-ojou sama's safety. It's a good thing to worry for you friends, but sometimes it can be your greatest weakness." Grayfia then looked over at Naruto, who scratched the back of his head as he continued to listen to Grayfia "Of course this is training. I'd never intentionally hurt Rias-sama, but you rushed in to protect her without even a moment of hesitation. In a real fight, your enemies can use it against you, and you both will go down if you allow yourself to move on sheer instinct like that."

"It's a bit hard not to, but I will try to think of a better solution next time." Naruto nodded his head in understanding. It's hard for him and Rias to argue with Grayfia when everything she had told them so far had been nothing but the truth. There were clearly still a lot for them to work on before they could fight with even more efficiency.

"That will be all for today, Naruto-sama, Rias-ojou sama." Grayfia said, nodding her head to them "We will skip tomorrow training because it's my day off, so I would much prefer to have some time for myself, thank you."

"Ah, no problem, Grayfia."

Naruto grinned, making the silver haired maid lower her head to him and doing the same thing to Rias before taking her leave from the training ground to return to the ground floor of the building. Stretching his arms over his head, Naruto then looked at his girlfriend, asking her "Man, I am beat. I am gonna go to take a shower now. Do you want to join?"

"Sure." Rias smiled, grabbing his hand as the two walked with each other to the bathroom just across from the training ground in the first basement of Uzumaki Residence. Even if the main purpose of the place was training and then relaxing, it really had everything that one needed to stay indoor for several days without growing bored, with two bedrooms, a movie theater, a large indoor bath which was where they were heading into, a high quality sauna and above all a gaming room with League installed in every PC, which was really all that he needed.

"So Rias, are you free next weekend?" Naruto asked while they were waiting for the water to heat up and Rias was grabbing some fresh clothes for both of them in the drawer just outside the bathroom "Do you… you know, go on a date next Saturday? It's been a while that I have taken you out on a date, after all."

Actually, it's not that long since he and Rias had gone on a date with each other. It's just that because of his current condition, Naruto had not left his house much the past two weeks.

"Aw, I'd love to, Naruto." The crimson haired girl smiled, kissing her boyfriend on the cheek as she placed their clothes and two towels on the counter outside the shower room "But don't you think it's time you give the other girls some attention too?"

"The other girls?" Naruto repeated.

"Yes. Akeno and Asia … maybe even Koneko, Ravel Ahri, Evelynn and Sona too." Rias listed, smiling slyly at her boyfriend as she poked him teasingly on the chest. The number of girls who were currently having feelings for him was just ridiculous. Now Rias knew why her mother had warned her that it would be difficult to take the reins, even though she fully expected her to be able to do at least that "Give them some love too. It's not healthy to just leave them hanging, you know."

"Ah… I guess you are right." Naruto said while scratching the back of his head.

Lately, he had noticed himself growing a lot closer to the girls currently living in his house, as they took turns taking care of him while he was still bed and then wheelchair-ridden for about a week and a half. He had been wanting to do something for them to show them his gratitude, so asking them out might be the best idea if they really had feelings for him.

Almost losing Asia had shown him just how important she meant to him, and Naruto had been seriously considering asking her out too, wanting to give the blonde the love that she deserved and to make up for the guilt she had been feeling, as she blamed herself for his current condition.

He's still not okay with the idea of being a harem king, which Momo had been teasing him for, but it appeared that the harem path was the only one that he could take to make sure that everyone was happy, especially when they were perfectly fine with it.

"But who do you think I should ask out first?" Naruto then asked, speaking the question in his mind out loud and making Rias tap her chin thoughtfully.

"Maybe I can help you with that."

Before Rias could give an answer, a sultry, seductive voice made them both turn their heads, and neither was surprised to see Evelynn standing at the door with a sly and mischievous smirk on her face.

"Ladies, welcome to our first ever Uzumaki Dating Contest, where you all will be butting head against each other to decide who will be Naruto's date." Evelynn announced loudly, throwing her hands into the air as she stood beside Blitzcrank, who was setting up a projection device on the table in front of a plain white scene "The rule is simple, I will show a number of questions, and the girl who can answer the most correctly will get to have Naruto taken them out on a date this Saturday."

"You have been planning for this, haven't you?" Naruto asked with a deadpan expression, a forced smile on his face as Evelynn winked at him.

However, it wasn't that Evelynn had something like this already prepared that surprised him, but it was the number of girls that had shown up to participate in this contest almost as soon as Evelynn had announced them to the entire house.

Currently, there were Asia, Xenovia and Irina; though he was pretty sure that Asia was the only one there who really wanted to win that date with her, while the angel of Michael was just there for the fun of it, or she was dragged along by Xenovia, the latter of whom could never turn down the chance to win a contest, regardless of what it was. Akeno was sitting next to Koneko, looking quite determined while the white haired Nekoshou was trying to tell her sister to calm down and back away from her, as Kuroka cheered excitedly for her sister to win. It appeared that Kuroka had also decided to participate in the contest just for the fun of it.

Le Fay and Ophis were also presented, but he was sure that they simply wanted to see what's this all about, as the Ouroboros dragon god was currently playing a video game on the handheld video game console she had borrowed from Gasper. Ahri and Sona were chatting with Rias on the couch, with his girlfriend being the only one who would not participate in this contest among the three of them. To his surprise, Ahri had rushed all the way back from Kyoto almost as soon as Evelynn had given her the call to tell her about the contest, showing Naruto that she liked him a lot more than he thought.

"Ara~, my son has become so popular with girls. I am so happy." Standing with her husband in the hallway looking into the living room, Kushina cooed with motherly excitement as she clapped her hands in front of her, smiling at all the girls who had shown up to participate in this contest. "Minato, who do you think is going to win?"

"Hmm, is it wrong for me to want them all to win?" Minato laughed, making his wife giggle playfully in response. Naruto felt his eyebrow twitching when he glanced at his parents from over the shoulder and saw them giving him thumb-ups in approval. A few years ago, they had wanted him to find a girlfriend. Now that he had found one in Rias, he could see as clear as day that they just wanted him to have more.

"Alright tin man time to distribute the boards!" Evelynn spoke to Blitzcrank, who had finished setting up the projector for her and began to distribute a number of dry-erase white boards and marker pens to the participants "Use those to write your answers for the questions that will be displayed on the screen. You all will have thirty seconds to write down your answer and show it when time's up."

"This is going to be fun." Ahri said, giggling as she started to personalize her board with cute drawings of foxes.

"And before we begin, I will throw in something extra as a reward for the winner. These!" Evelynn then announced, smiling mischievously as she pulled out from her miniskirt's pocket a pair of tickets and held them in the air, which made Naruto widen his eyes in shock as he could easily recognize them, having tried to buy them almost as soon as they had become available.

"H-How did you…"

"I am a popstar diva, Naruto Uzumaki. If I want something, my fans will get it for me for a highly unlikely chance to have my signature signed on their forehead." Evelynn answered smugly while waving the two tickets in her hands before she turned back to the girls "Ladies, these are the tickets to enter the VIP lounges of the long awaited Arcane premiere event, which will be taking place at the cinema in Kuoh Plaza. With these babies at your disposal, Naruto won't have any choice but to take you out next Saturday."

"Uhm… is it too late for me to join?" Rias raised her hand and asked with a somewhat nervous smile. Everyone knew that Rias had been looking forward to Arcane, the League of Legends TV Show, just as much as Naruto, so to be able to go to the premiere event of the show with her boyfriend would be the best experience she could hope for in years.

"Thirty minutes too late, honey." Evelynn answered immediately, pointing her hand at Rias.

"Ravel-chan, you are not going to join the others?" Kushina asked, looking at her son's manager, who blushed a bright shade of red at her question.

"W-What are you saying, Kushina-sama?" The blonde stuttered, choking a bit as she tried to reason "I-I have important work to do next Saturday. I need to arrange Naruto-sama's emails and schedule for next week, so I can't go out with him even if I want to. Plus, if I participate, there's no way that the others will have a chance to win… so it's only logical for me to sit out of this."

"Sure, whatever you say, Ravel." Naruto chuckled and told her from the side, making her cheek redden even more while Koneko just gave the Phenex girl a slight glare, not believing that she could hope to compete against her.

"Alright, all of you Uzumaki/Namikaze, shut the hell up. No more side talk. It's time for us to get down to business." Evelynn told them, ignoring Kushina's disapproving glare as she turned to the girls sitting around the living room. "Let's begin. Tin man, bring up the first question."

The demoness declared, pointing her hand at Blitzcrank who then carefully typed on the keyboard of the laptop that the projection device was connected to, making the image on the screen disappear before being replaced by the first question along with 4 ABCD answers.

Naruto felt his eyes twitch when he saw what they were. Even the girls were surprised, with Kuroka bursting out in laughter

"Alright, first question." Evelynn spoke as she pointed her hand at the screen "How many seasons were Naruto stuck in Bronze I? You have 30 seconds to write down the answer."

"Hey, what the hell is this?!" Naruto asked, but Evelynn simply winked at him.

"These are the questions that I have Blitzcrank specifically prepared to find out which girl here knows you best. After all, only the girl who truly understands you can earn the next date with you, and something as rare as these. Of course, you are not allowed to help them." The demoness answered, waving the tickets at his face. "Don't worry about getting embarrassed though. This is the first ever contest, so of course we need questions like these. Next week, I will organize something else."

"Should I be worried?" Naruto asked with a sweat drop. Knowing Evelynn, she would probably come up with something crazy.

"Alright, thirty seconds is up. Let's see the answers." Evelynn announced, making the girls turn their board back to show them the answer. To Naruto's surprise, Akeno was the only one who chose C. 9 seasons, instead of A. 11, which were the answers everyone had chosen, with some like Ahri and Sona pairing up to increase their chances of winning "And the correct answer is… C. 9 seasons. Congratulations, Akeno!"

"What?!" Kuroka asked in surprise. She and her sister had both chosen C, having heard of Seventhshadowth9's reputation of being a Bronze I police from the moment that they started playing League. "How's he only a bronzie for 9 seasons? I thought he was a hardstuck Bronze I gatekeeper for eleven seasons straight?"

"It's a trick question." It was Akeno who answered Kuroka's question, giggling playfully as Blitzcrank brought out a large broad to mark her name with a point "Naruto-kun actually finished season 3th and 5th in Bronze II, which were the lowest he had been."

"Wow, I don't think I know or remember that." Naruto said, gasping in amazement as he looked at the busty queen, who winked at him.

"I might not be a dedicated League player, Naruto-kun, but I did my research very carefully."

"Ugh… why can't I feel honored about it?" Naruto couldn't help but ask, a gloomy cloud hovering comically above his head as Kiba, who had come over to watch the contest as a form of club activities, patted his back comfortingly while trying to hide his amused smile behind his hand. Last time he played, he got in his Master promo for the second time, but he knew that his past of being a Bronze I police would forever follow, and haunt him until the day league died.

"Alright, it appears that Akeno has taken the lead. Next question." Evelynn announced, and the next question was shown on the board "What is Naruto's second most played champion?"

Naruto scratched his chin thoughtfully at that. Lucian was his main, with the Purifier sentinel being one of the answers, so Naruto knew for a fact that he played the champion the most out of anyone. But his second most played champion? It was a difficult question that Naruto knew he would have a hard time picking the correct answer, as he played a lot of mid lane, bot lane and even top lane champs over 11 seasons.

"Is it me?" Ahri couldn't help but wonder, remembering that Naruto had been playing her a lot in the game recently. She had played some games of league too, to know more about her virtual self, but she had never truly gotten deep into it, or done research about Naruto. Seeing that she had no other option in mind, Ahri wrote her name down on the board, and showed it to Evelynn along with everyone else.

"The correct answer is… A. Ahri with 1791 games! Good job to those who answered the questions correctly." Evelynn clapped her hands along with Blitzcrank, who then gave points to Asia, Xenovia, Irina, Akeno, Koneko, Le Fay and of course, Ahri and Sona. Kuroka groaned, throwing her hands in the air in defeat because she had chosen B. Yuumi.

"Wow, 1791 games, you must really like to play virtual me, huh?" Ahri said, smiling at Naruto as she used her sleeve to clean her name off her board.

"Ah, well… I really like her design." Naruto laughed sheepishly while scratching the back of his head, making Ahri giggle before he turned to Evelynn, asking her with a deadpan expression "hey, are these questions only about me and League?"

"Not all of them." The demoness answered and shrugged her shoulders, before she signaled Blitzcrank to continue with the next question.

And so for the next thirty minutes, the girls of the Uzumaki Residence answered the questions that Evelynn had prepared for them, getting excited with every question that they were able to answer correctly, with the questions themselves ranging from League related to their daily life inquiries. Having not answered even one question wrong, Akeno was always in the lead, with Asia unsurprisingly following very closely behind, as she played a lot of duo queue with Naruto so her knowledge about league and his account was formidable.

Of course, being the kind hearted girl that she was, Asia helped Irina and Xenovia answer most questions correctly, but at one point Naruto did see that she intentionally tricked them into answering one question wrong, causing them both to fall behind her by one point while looking completely innocent. Maybe he should really limit Evelynn's time spent with Asia, because the ancient demoness was definitely having a bad influence on the blonde by teaching her stuff that even the older girls in the house wouldn't dare to consider whenever they hung out with each other.

"Alright, let's take a look at the leaderboard before we head on to the last question." Evelynn spoke, looking at the board beside Blitzcrank "As you can all see, Akeno is currently still in first place, followed by Asia who is only 1 point behind, so it all comes down to this last and final question to decide the winner between these two. Akeno will need to answer it wrong for Asia to have the chance to tie up their standings. If she doesn't, then obviously Akeno will be Naruto's date next Saturday."

"Aw, I guess there's really no chance left for us." Ahri said as she put her board down her lap. "Well, better luck next time. At least we gotta have some fun, right?" She asked, looking at Sona who nodded her head with a smile in response.

"Don't worry, you girls will have your chance next week. The winner of this week will have to step down from the next one so the other girls can go on date with him too, so don't worry, you won't be sad losers twice in a row." The demoness laughed, making Ahri throw a pillow at her, but she simply grabbed it in midair and tossed it back to the nine tailed Gumiho, knocking her down the floor with a direct hit in the face "Alright, it's time we close this up. Last question! For it, you will only have ten seconds to choose your answer. Are you ready?"

"yes, I am ready." Akeno said, smiling per usual. However, anyone could see that she was determined to win it all.

"Me too." Asia nodded, as Xenovia and Irina cheered for her.

With that, the final question was displayed on the screen:

'Which of these marksman champions doesn't have an ability to self-increase their attack speed?'

A. Caitlyn

B. Kai'sa

C. Miss Fortune

D. Xayah

"Au… but I have never played marksman champions…" Asia spluttered nervously while holding her head, as she tried to recall the abilities of the champions being shown on the screen and what they did. Akeno was also doing it, but she was much more calm and collected, tapping her chin thoughtfully before writing her answer down.

"Come on, Asia. You can do it." Xenovia and Irina encouraged their best friend, rooting for her to pick the correct answer even though both of them had no idea what it was. As Evelynn started counting down from three, the blonde ended up panicking, and wrote down her answer.

"Alright, time's up. Let's see the answer!"

Evelynn spoke loudly, and Akeno had been waiting for just that to turn her board around to show the host her answer, with the name of Caitlyn being written on it. Asia, on the other hand, had chosen B. Kai'sa as her final answer.

The blonde could only pray that she had gotten it right.

"And the correct answer is…" Evelynn pointed her hand at Blitz, intentionally making it a lot more dramatic as Blitz turned on some hype music using a music box before waiting for the right moment to press the button to highlight the answer of the final question, which was none other than Caitlyn, the Sheriff of Piltover herself. "A! Congratulations, Akeno, you are the winner!"

"Yes!" Akeno cheered, throwing her hands in the air in celebration as the others, including Naruto's parents who had been watching, clapped their hands for her "You've done well, but better luck next time, Asia-chan." She said, placing a comforting hand on Asia's shoulder as she knee-walked over to her, making the blonde smile before nodding her head.

"Yes, I won't lose to you next time, Akeno-senpai." Asia said, making Akeno smile at her before standing up to walk over to Evelynn, who held out the tickets for the Arcane premiere show.

"And here are your rewards, hon." The demoness smiled as she allowed Akeno to take the tickets from her, holding them carefully in her hands with a beaming smile on her face "Make good use of them for me, got it?"

"Yes, thank you Evelynn-san." Akeno said, before she turned around to look at Naruto finally, asking him with a beautiful smile as she held the tickets close to her chest. "So, next Saturday then, Naruto-kun?"

The blond didn't say anything, but not that Akeno wanted him to when he gave her a warm smile and a nod of his head in response.

Ding Dong!

"I got it."

As his mother went to answer the doorbell, Naruto stood up from the couch and headed out of the living room to come stand beside his father, leaning his head out of the doorway to see who it was.

To his surprise, the one who was revealed when his mother opened the door was none other than Azazel himself, but he wasn't the only one. There was another person, a middle-aged, gruff-looking man with black hair, matching beard. He was even taller than Azazel, and had a muscular body, dressed in a dark green shirt and matching color pants, under a long cloak that wrapped around his shoulder and reached down to the back of his knees. Unlike his companion, who appeared as relaxed as ever, the man possessed a strong, warrior-like air about him.

"Good morning, Kushina-san." Azazel smiled at the red haired woman, tipping his hat to her.

"Ara, Azazel-sensei. Good morning to you too." Kushina greeted in response, smiling at the advisor of the Occult Research club. "What brought you here today? And who is this?" She asked, turning to look at the man standing behind Azazel who then lowered his head a little to her in greeting.

"Ah, I am only here to see your son and the others. Nothing for you to worry about." Azazel answered with an assuring smile, before gesturing his hand to the man standing behind him, introducing with a smile "And this is Baraquiel, he is a close friend of mine, and Akeno's father."

Naruto widened his eyes in surprise at that, before turning around to look at Akeno, who had a look of bewilderment on her face, having heard what Azazel had just said like everyone else in the room.

End of Chapter 45

Note: And that is the end of this chapter! Sorry for taking such a long time doing this, but I have been having a bit too much fun writing Son of War (God of War/DxD) story recently. I will definitely try to return to update this story more frequently next time.

There really isn't anything for me to talk about in this chapter, since it's simply a filler for the upcoming arc. Nonetheless, I hope that everyone has had a great time reading it. Make sure to leave me a review once you have finished reading, and check out my p/atreon, as well as join my discord community if you can! (both links can be found in my profile)
