beast boy's perspective
Closer to the afternoon, Cyborg picked us up and brought us to the Tower.
He was shocked to see Raven returning with me.
Surprisingly, he kept his cool and didn't ask any questions.
For then at least.
Raven went upstairs as soon as Cyborg parked the car in the garage.
For a few minutes Cyborg and I sat silently in the parked car.
"How was it?" I raised my eyebrow.
I didn't expect that to be his first question.
"It was great." I answered with a sigh.
"Was it really?" Cyborg asked.
"Yeah, we had fun."
"Clarify 'fun'." Cyborg teased.
"Dude," I laughed, "Not anywhere close to what you think."
"I know. I'm glad you had a good time though."
"Yeah..."
We were both avoiding the elephant in the room.
"B, talk to me."
The half-robot was more firm now.
"Alright. So, Raven's going through a lot right now." I explained.
"I noticed."
" I... wanted to bring her out so she could clear her head. You know? Somewhere peaceful and vacant. Thanks for helping by the way."
"No problem."
"Sorry that I never told you she was part of the plan. I just wanted our first time out to be low key. I wanted to make it an 'us' thing. Don't think I don't trust you or anything."
"Nah, I understand, B. You're smart, because you know I would tease you to no end." Cyborg elbowed me playfully.
"Yeah, it was chill. We got to know each other a little better." a blush filled my cheeks.
"Ohhh, watchya did?"
"I kissed her." I whispered.
"YOU DID!? SERIOUSLY, B? ABOUT TIME! BROOOOOOO, I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!" Cyborg boomed and nearly shook me senseless.
"Th-Thank you Cy. Wanna shake out the two brain cells I have left?" I asked whimsically.
"My bad, hehe. So, y'all are a thing now, huh?"
"We are. We takin' in slow though. Day by day, minute by minute. She had a hard morning though."
"I could tell. Her eyes looked red and swollen."
"Mhm."
"I'm proud of you, B. For everything you're doing. I remember the day Raven had her panic attack, no one knew how to help her. But you did. And from that day you've figured out how to keep helping her. It's not easy, I know it's not. Seeing someone you know go through something and not being able to stop it is one of the worst things ever. However, here you are, trying to deal with this. You're trying your best to show her she's loved and not alone. I'm really proud of you B, and so is Raven. Keep doing what you're doing, and know I will always be here if you need help." I gave Cyborg a dim smile.
"Thanks, Cy. It is difficult, yeah. Sometimes I wonder why things happen when they happen, and how they happen. I wonder why I wasn't there to stop it. It's just one of those scenarios of wrong place, wrong time."
"I get it, B. I do, trust me," Cyborg glanced at his metal hands, "I was a champ in football. I had Straight A's and a high school record. When Dad's laboratory experiment killed Mom and injured me, I thought it was over. When Dad designed me into a 'Cyborg', I thought the same thing. What could I have done to stop this accident? Why did Mom have to die? Why couldn't I die instead? Why do I look like... a robot?" I glanced up to my best friend.
"Then I realized, all of this happened for a reason. It made me stronger, bigger, and better. Because of it I was able to use my weakness as a strength. I was able to discover new personalities and connect with them. I was able to become best friends with you."
He smiled at me.
"As much as it sucks sometimes, I would never trade the experiences I had for the world. They are a part my story and a part of me. We may go to the grave with unanswered questions of occurrences in life, don't get me wrong. But while we are living, we might as well face the challenge head on and try to create something out of it. There's two sides to a paper, to a coin, and to life. Once you change your perspective, you change the world around you. It's not the easiest task out there, but it's not impossible."
Cyborg took a short breath.
"Look at the bright side. Whatever happened to Raven brought you guys closer. Without it, you probably would have never become girlfriend and boyfriend."
"You right." I agreed.
"It'll make you, her, and you both better. You'll see. This is a journey you are taking with Raven. That's the sunshine after the rain."
"Thanks for the pep talk, Cy. It helped me a lot. I'll keep you updated. Fist it?" I held up my fist.
"Fist it." Cyborg pumped his metal fist into mine.
"Wanna play Mega Monkeys Four?" I grinned.
"Bet. Race you there!" Cyborg zipped off his seatbelt.
"Dude! Wait up! Aren't we supposed to unpack the stuff?!" I flew out of the car.
"Yeah, but that can wait! If you reach the Common Room last, you're a rotten egg!"
I smiled at Cyborg's comment and dashed up the stairs.
