Family day seemed to be the event that was going to be okay. There were bound to be a few hiccups along the way. Adora wondered what was going to be happening. She was a bit upset that Black Star wasn't going to show up. She was getting better - she promised. She wanted to see Black Star graduate. She wasted her life going out and partying, but she knew that Black Star was going to be the one who was going to make something out of himself. Franken ended up pulling Spirit to the side to talk about the lie he just told, as Marie would not be able to pick up on the lie that he gave.
"What is really going on with Maka?" Franken asked.
"Well, truth be told," Spirit put a hand behind his head, "Out of the group that Maka and Adora are with, Maka is the slowest to be moving forward. Dr. Medusa thinks that it could be a while before she could come home."
"I'm sorry to hear that..." Franken put a hand on his shoulder. "If you need anything, just let me and Marie know."
"I don't need anything right now, unless you know where the fuck my ex-wife is. She is the one who made Maka do this to herself." Spirit growled as he was not pleased that Lizzy would do this to their child. THEIR CHILD, it was her fault that Maka is here. "Lizzy is complete bitch for cutting Maka out of her life. Dropping her like she doesn't exist."
"Spirit, calm down. I don't want Maka to hear you." Franken stated.
Spirit ended finally calming down. He would always blame Lizzy and right now he was happy that she wasn't trying to contact her at all. He was worried that would make her fall more back if she heard her mother's voice. Spirit looked at Maka and Adora talk and saw a smile on her face. It was real smile that Maka had on her face.
"Adora, I'm still worried about her. I know that she's been doing well here from the conversations that Dr. Medusa and Marie have, but a part of me still thinks about her relapsing and going back to square one." Franken admitted.
"We can get through this together with our girls. It looks like they are already the best of friends." Spirit pointed out.
Back with Adora, Maka and Marie. Maka was telling Marie about a book she liked and wondered if Marie had ever read the book before. Adora found the book interesting and wanted to actually read it. Turns out it's one of the books that Maka has in her room as she looked at Adora and smiled. Adora's thoughts wondered to Black Star - as he would like to get to know Maka. Even if the two were total opposites, she could see the two of them growing closer together and getting to know each other. Adora knew that with Maka's shy self, Black Star would be 'a big star and bring out the shyness out of her'. It was someting that she was used to him saying.
"I know you said that Black Star was fine and all, but I worry about him because he can be reckless." Adora looked at Marie.
"Who is Black Star?" Maka asked as she never heard Adora talk about him before.
"My younger brother, he's probably either the same age as you or a year older than you." Adora answered.
"He's fine, like we told you before. He's been doing his school work and praying for your fast recovery so that you can come home." Marie said as she reached out ot grab Adora's hand.
"I know, and I'm trying, I promise." Adora looked at her hands and then looked at Marie. "I just thought that he would come here."
The thing with Black Star was that - at the moment that Family Day was taking place, he was playing hoops with Soul, Kid, Liz, Patty and Tsubaki. They knew about Adora and where she was, but they didn't bring up why he wasn't there with her.
"So, what did you guys pick for Spirit's book report?" Kid asked.
"I chose The Wizard of Oz!" Patty said. "I'm going to write about how everything is Oz is real and how when Dorothy goes there, she see's everyone's true selves."
"What do you mean?" Tsubaki asked, "Cause that go in a lot of different ways."
"Well like, the scary lady - Almira seems a bit wicked, but when in Oz she's the Wicked Witch of the West, and she is pure evil and wants to control everything around her. One of the farm hands, Hunk is really the scarecrow, both are loyal to Dorothy "
"That's only two examples though..." Liz said.
"There's the Great Wizard of Oz and Professor Marvel, Zeke and the Cowedly Lion, and finally Hickory and the Tin man. I might add how Dorothy is different too," Patty explained more.
"Wow you have everything figured out. I haven't picked out a book yet." Black star admitted.
"It's it due in a month?" Soul asked.
"It is. I have my book picked out too," Liz admitted. "It's actually going to be on two books, it's the Hunger Games VS The Maze Runner."
"Two books? Do you even have time to read both of them?" Soul asked Liz as he took the basketball and took a shot.
"I mean, I already read them last week, so it would be perfect to do it." Liz rolled her eyes. "What about you Soul? have you got one picked out?"
"Yeah, it's Catcher in the Rye vs the movie Chasing Holden." Soul grinned. "It's going to be epic."
"I guess we're bot doing essays on similarities and differences." Liz stole the basketball from Soul.
"Guess so, but mine is definitely going to be the best!" Soul went after Liz to take the ball back.
"What about you Tsubaki?" Patty was curious on to know which book she chose and what she was going to write about.
"Mine is on the book Splintered and how the book takes a different look on Alice in Wonderland." Tsubaki said, "So I guess it's more of an opinion piece than anything as I talk about Splintered and Alice in Wonderland."
"I never read Splintered before, is it about Alice in Wonderland?" Liz asked.
"Well, no not really, it draws inspiration from Alice in Wonderland and talks about it like it was a real place, it's really good but it still has aspects from the original Alice in Wonderland." Tsubaki smiled.
"Wow, sounds really good! I hope we get paired to read each other's essays!" Patty exclaims.
"Kid what about you?" Liz asked.
"Lord of the Flies, and how it shows aspects of The Animal Farm. Both books are dark, and deal with same aspects like, savagery, death, power, corruption, they both deal with the fall of society. The kids in Lord of the Flies once were a group of kids who were trapped on island with no where to go and then they turn into savages and are ruthless while the Animal Farm - well I don't want to get into my paper, cause I have still figure it out the finer details." Kid admitted.
"Why don't you also talk about The Coral Island? It's in the same group with The Lord of the Flies." Soul mentioned.
"Good idea, Soul, I just have to get the book and read it." Kid mentioned as he took out his phone to write down the book title.
"Black Star you are the only one who didn't tell us anything about what they are writing!" Patty whined.
"I don't know, you all have great ideas already planned out. I mean there's so many stuff we read for the class that I couldn't chose and I don't normally read anything else.." Black Star looked at the sky. "I was thinking of maybe doing The Faerie Queen and how the Knights are based on the Seven Deadly Sins and the Sins of Virtues."
"That's going to be really deep," Kid said. "I don't know even know how you'll pull it off."
"I will, don't worry and I'll get like a C as a passing grade." Black star said.
As Family Day came to an end, Maka was upset to see her father leave her. She really wanted to go home, but also knew that she wasn't doing as well as Adora. Adora was ready to go home and she just wanted to be with Black Star again. She missed him, but a part of her didn't want to leave Maka alone in this place. Adora could see that Maka wasn't doing as well as she was, but she wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that they make her eat and if she gains weight they call it a milestone? Sure Adora shouldn't eavesdrop, she but couldn't help it! It was boring.
"Bye dad." Maka said as she hugged her father one more time.
"I love you, Maka, I'll come and see you soon. I promise." Spirit said as he kissed the top of her head.
Adora looked at Spirit and Marie. "Bye..." Adora muttered.
"Adora, you'll be home soon, I can feel it." Marie smiled as she hugged Adora bye.
The parents finally left and it was time for the sessions - and this was not going to be a good one.
