Have any of you wondered what happened to all the dragons, griffons, yaks, changlings, hyppogriffs and other magical creatures who were allies to Twilight and her friends? More importantly, where's Discord?! Well, prepare to find out!
I do not own My Little Pony: Make Your Mark series or its characters.
Also, I've left an important message at the end of this chapter. It's vital that you read it!
What came out of the shadows was no pony, but a creature none of them had ever seen. At first glance, it looked like a silver pony with a bright pink mane and light blue highlights. But the only pony features it had were its face, mane, legs and hooves. Its tail was long and thick with gray fur and gator-like scales along one side of it. The creature also had a pair of eyes of different colors. The left was light brown while the right was turquoise. Her wings didn't match either. For the left was dark brown and bat-like, whereas the right was white and Pegasus-like. But what really shocked the six ponies were the horns on its head. They were pointy like the ones of a bull, only they were both golden. Just what sort of creature was this.
As they all stood silently with their mouths wide opened from shock, the strange creature grinned. "Yep, that's the expression most dudes give when they first meet me."
Sunny was the first to react. "You… You talk?"
The creature used its mix-matched wings to fly over to them. "Well, of course I can talk. I'm a draconequus, not a rabbit." A fluffy gray bunny then revealed itself from below this creature. "No offense, Devil." The bunny shrugged and hopped away. "My bunny, Devil. He can be a bit of a trouble-maker. But you gotta love him."
Devil the bunny returned with a pair of pink headphones that the bizarre creature put around the back of her neck. "So, what did you dudes say your names were again?"
Zipp, who was closest to this creature, responded. "We didn't tell you our names. I'm Zipp. This is Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, Misty, and my sister Pipp."
"Rad. I'm Accordshy."
"Double rad to meet you, Acccccooooorrrd-shy!" Izzy greeted.
"Wait, you're a draconequus?" Sunny asked.
"Sorta. My pops was a purebred draconequus while my ma was a Pegasus. Making me part Pegasus, part every other cool critter." She flexed her muscles.
Sunny's eyes lit up in excitement. "You wouldn't happen to know another draconequus known as Discord, would you?"
Accordshy flew down to the ground. "Discord? He was my pops."
"Was?" Zipp questioned in a worried tone.
"Yeah, he disappeared when he was traveling through different worlds and I haven't seen him since. Guess he's stuck in an alternate reality or something."
Disappointment and sorrow filled Sunny's heart. Discord was their last hope of figuring out how to stop Opaline and why the crystals were made to protect Equestria. He could have also answered her biggest question, why all pony kinds left each other? But it turns out that he was no longer in this world, but in some sort of different reality. Wonder which world he was at now?
As much as she felt disappointed to have loss the creature who could have help them, she felt more sorry for his daughter, who had to live without him just as she had to live without her dad. "I'm so sorry about your dad."
"Thanks." Accordshy then stretched her face. "Hey, why the long faces?"
"Well, we traveled all around the world in search of your father" Zipp explained. "We'd hoped that he would help us figure out where the magical creatures who were once the Allies of Equestria were."
Accordshy put her face back together. "Wait, you traveled all over the world from Equestria just to get here? You do realize that you dudes could have just crossed the Southern Ocean westward, right? Would have saved you a whole lot of time."
Confused, Hitch showed her the map. "But, this place is at the far end of the map."
The weird draconequus laughed. "Ha! This map is way outdated. Don't you ponies know that the world is round?"
They were all stunned and frustrated by this sudden realization. Izzy was most upset. "So, we're not living on a floating pancake?!"
But Zipp was more interested in another piece of this truth. "So, if the map's outdated, then that explains why all the places we've visited weren't what they'd use to be."
While Hitch agreed with these facts, he was still unsure of one thing. "That might be true. But what happened to all the creatures who lived in Griffinstone, the Changling Kingdom, and the Dragon Lands?"
"Geez, those places are still on the map?" Accordshy asked. "No wonder you dudes got lost. Is the Crystal Empire still on there?"
"Not exactly" Misty spoke. "The places are still around, but no pony or creature lives in any of them."
"But it looks like this place is still habited" Zipp added. "Why is that?"
Accordshy shrugged. "Pops did put quite a few touches to this island while he and the other Allies were in hiding."
Allies? All six ponies looked at one another in awe. Did she mean the Allies of Equestria? Could their journey to find answers finally led them to where they needed to be?
"Accordshy" Sunny began. "By Allies, who do you exactly mean?"
Their new friend hoofed her forehead. "Oh, I'd completely forgot why I came here in the first place! Follow me, the counsel is waiting on you."
None of them knew who Accordshy was talking about by counsel. Regardless, Sunny couldn't help but feel that the daughter of who they'd seek could be leading them to the answers they were search for. So, with her friends following closely behind, she followed the draconequus into the darkness.
It didn't take long for them to arrive to a large room with a round table in the center. Lightened torches hung on the walls and there were several other tunnel ways. But the ponies were only focused on the ten figures who each sat around the large table. One Sunny recognized as a zebra with blue stripes and a golden earring on her left ear. One was a griffon who had white fur with brown spots with blue feathers and a dark beak. One was a large yak whose top layer of fur was pulled back in two buns and had on a red headband covering his forehead. One was a red dragon with bits of white on her top head and tail. One was a bug-like creature with clear wings and mixtures of pink, dark blue and gold. One was some sort of part eagle, part feline, part pony creature who had dark blue wings and blackish fur. One looked like a black and white border collie, but stood on two legs and wore a green t-shirt and khaki shorts. One looked like a Siamese cat, who also stood on two legs and wore a tuxedo. One looked like some kind a parrot-like creature who was mostly red with blue and yellow bits and wore a large hat with a purple feather. And the creature on the farthest end was a mix of pony and dragon, for they had the body of an orange pony but also yellow dragon-like scales along their back, hooves and face. They also had a reddish horn and a pink mane. Each of these creatures went silent when they saw the six strangers entering their private conversation.
Yet, none of them seemed displeased by the interruption. In fact, the dragon walked up to them welcoming. "At last, you've arrived! Awesome to finally meet you." She rubbed Sparky's head. "And where did you guys find this little cutie?"
Hitch gulped. "Your… You're a dragon?"
The red dragon gave him a gleeful stare. "Well, it's kinda obvious, isn't it? Actually, let me prove it." She then blew blue fire from her mouth.
"Alright! Alright!" Hitched shouted while he shield his face from the flames. "I believe you. It's just that I've never met an adult dragon before."
The red dragon closed her mouth to stop the fire. "Well, technically, I'm considered a teenage dragon. But that doesn't make me any less cool."
The griffon stepped out of her seat and walked towards them. "Forgive Smokey. She joined us last year and still has much growing to do." The dragon, apparently called Smokey, stuck her tongue out at the griffon.
The griffon smiled at Accordshy and the six ponies. "It is such an honor to meet you. I am Griffdora, leader of the griffons and one of the heads of the Sparkle Counsel."
Sunny gazed up in awe. "The Sparkle Counsel? As in Twilight Sparkle?"
Griffdora smiled. "Yes, Queen Twilight Sparkle was our savior many moons ago. Therefore, our founders felt it was right to name the counsel after her."
Sparkle Counsel? Twilight the savior of these different creatures? Sunny had to muster all of her inner strength just to hold back all of her excitement. She had been right. They were brought here for a reason. To find the Sparkle Counsel. Maybe they had the answers they desperately needed.
The border collie stood up. "Allow us to properly introduce ourselves. I am Duchess, leader of the Diamond Dogs."
The siamese was next on introductions. "They call me Kong, leader of the cat people."
The yak bowed. "Me Prince Yan, last descendant of royal family of yaks."
"My name is Catpilla" the bug-like creature introduced. "Leader of the changlings, beings that can take the form of any creature." He demonstrated his abilities by changing into Pipp and then back into himself. Pipp couldn't help but take a selfie with him.
"I am called Riversky" the eagle, cat, pony mix spoke. "A hippogriff on land and a seapony in water."
It was the Smokey's turn now. "Smokey's the name and being the Dragon Lord is my game! That and being amazing."
The parrot rolled his eyes and spoke. "Aye, Captain Perry of the skies at your service!"
Then came the pony-dragon mixed creature. "And I'm Summerflame, village leader of the Kirin." When the ponies looked at each other in confusion, she explained. "Never heard of us? Oh, we're creatures known for our kindness and honesty and wish to spread positivity to all! Unless we get angry, then we turn into Niriks, beasts of fire! But don't worry about me. I hardly get mad."
Accordshy lead closer to them. "Unless some creature eats one of her cookies."
And last to introduce themselves was the zebra. "Zair is my name. We are so pleased that you all came."
Flattered by the welcoming of these different creatures, Sunny curtsied. "Thank you for your hospitality. We're Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, Zipp, Pipp, Misty, and Sparky. And it is an honor to find you all. You have no idea how worried we were when we'd found your homes abandoned."
Accordshy huffed. "I'd told you dudes, that map of yours is so outdated."
"Yes" Duchess spoke. "All of our kinds left their old kingdoms to established new ones long ago." She looked at Accordshy. "Thank you for pointing that out, Accordshy."
"Is she on this counsel too?" Misty asked.
"Not exactly" Kong answered. "But as the daughter of the Lord of Chaos and the last remaining draconequus in our world, Accordshy has abilities far beyond any other being."
Accordshy juggled balls of fire. "It's true." With a snap of her fingers, she was playing a violin that sounded like a guitar. "The counsel keeps me around because I'm the only being powerful enough to bring any creature down here, including you dudes."
The ponies all stared at each other in awe. "So, it was you who brought us here?" Sunny questioned.
"That's right, Sunny girl. Did you really think that cookie dough pulled you dudes down here by itself?" She then made a rainbow cookie appear and dipped it in soda.
"Then, why drag us down here?" Hitch demanded.
"That was our doing" Griffdora spoke. "When we were informed that Equestria's magic had been restored and its invisibubble removed, we knew that some ponies must have done it."
Pipp smiled proudly. "Rightous! We were the ones who found the crystals and put them back together, restoring all magic in Equestria." Zipp rolled her eyes. Of course her little sister would want them to take the credit.
Each of the counsel members nodded. "Cool to hear that you guys got Equestria's power back on" Smokey spoke.
But Duchess wasn't so thrilled. "While it is good to hear that all three pony kinds are once again together, I do fear of the evil forces who would want to exploit it."
Recalling that some of those words were the same the holograph of Twilight Sparkle had spoken, Zipp stepped forward. "It's Opaline you're talking about, isn't it?"
Each of the counsel members tensed with fear. "You know of Opaline?" Kong asked.
"Yeah" Misty answered fearfully. "I use to…"
Not wanting her friend to be looked down upon by her history with Opaline, Izzy spoke up. "Opaline has been causing all sorts of trouble for us for awhile."
"Including trying to steal poor little Sparky's magic" Hitch added as she snuggled Sparky. "That alicorn is evil!"
"So, she does still exist" Catpilla shivered.
"It is just as we've feared" Summerflame spoke. "She truly does possess alicorn magic that has enabled her to live for thousands of moons."
"Let us hope that history will not repeat" Zair added. "For last time, we were forced to retreat."
Zipp took out her phone and scrolled down her notes. "So, it was Opaline who caused you guys to leave Equestria and your homes."
Prince Yan hit the table with his hoof. "Opaline forced yaks and other creatures from their homes. Yaks live in far south now. Not north, but at least it still cold. But Opaline, bad pony. Opaline stole magic. Opaline harmed friends. Opaline led to ponies separating."
Sunny's ear rung like school bells. Did he say that Opaline had caused the ponies to separate?
Hitch seemed to have the same thought. "So, it was Opaline who made earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns to diverse from each other?"
"While she didn't do it intentionally" Griffdora admitted. "Her actions did cause the ponies to isolate themselves."
Sunny frowned. "I don't get it. Twilight influenced friendship and harmony throughout her land for moons. What did Opaline do to cause all pony kinds to turn on each other?"
The counsel members looked at each other in doubtful expressions. "Should we tell them?" Rivershy asked.
"I think so" Kong answered quickly.
"It may hurt them" Catpilla spoke.
"But maybe they'll be able to learn from the wrongs of the past" Duchess added.
"And they came all this way to find answers" Smokey spoke. "The least we can do is give them some."
"This young dragon lord speaks the truth" Zair added. "I vote that we trust these youths."
"And remember what Twilight's final words were" Summerflame pointed out. They all nodded and looked at Sunny with sincere stares.
"So, we all be sayin' aye?" Captain Perry asked.
"Yan agree!" The yak yelled. The rest of them nodded.
Griffdora turned to the young ponies. "So, do you wish to know how Equestria changed?"
Everypony turned to Sunny. She was the one who brought all ponies together, lead them to go on this journey and wanted to know more than any of them of how all pony kinds separated all those moons ago. Now, the answers were right in front of them. Yet, the pony who should have been most thrilled about it was the one least so. Sunny had questioned for so long why earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns who were once friends had decided to distrusted one another. She wondered what could have caused their friendships to end just like that? And now, after hearing that it was Opaline's actions that led to it, she was unsure whether finding out the cause was the right thing to do.
Then, she caught her friend Izzy giving her a reassuring glance. That was when she recalled what Izzy had told her before beginning this journey. No matter what they discover, nothing will ever change between them. They might even learn how to prevent history from repeating itself by figuring out what went wrong in the first place.
And so, with a light heart, Sunny answered "yes. Please, tell us what happened."
Griffdora smiled proudly. "Very well." Stretching out here magnificent wings, she flew high above the room. When she was at the highest point, she called down to Smokey. "I can use some fire power up here!"
Smokey winked at her, then blew a ball of blue fire towards her. Surprisingly, the griffon caught it without getting burned. When she placed the ball into a large torch, many other torches lit up all across the ceiling. With so many lights on, a variety of paintings were shown on the walls. The ponies were all stunned by a breath-taking colors and life-like illustrations. There were pictures of all kinds of ponies, different creatures and places they'd only ever seen in stories and history books. Zipp stared at the one showing a purple alicorn guiding several different creatures across unknown lands. Izzy stared at the one of a unicorn and earth pony reviewing a book together. Hitch and Sparky eyed one that looked like an earth pony was trying to make something from a large cauldron. Misty felt unease when she saw an image of an alicorn that looked very familiar looking down at a crowd of ponies with greed in their eyes. Sunny, on the other hoof, couldn't bring herself to look away at the image of a pony becoming an alicorn and an older, purple alicorn looking at her with a proud expression. Never had any of them seen such a gorgeous display before.
Riversky sighed. "Accordshy, I think you ought to tell this tale."
Accordshy flew above them swiftly. "You see, there was a time when earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns all lived together in harmony."
Hitch couldn't help but interrupt. "Oh, we all know that story. And we also know that they were all ruled by a great alicorn princess who influenced friendship throughout her entire kingdom."
The draconequus sighed as she landed back on the ground. "That is, until a unicorn was hurt by an earth pony."
Each of the six ponies gasped in shock. "But I thought it was a unicorn that hurt an earth pony after some kind of magical accident?" Izzy asked.
"And I was told that all three pony kinds stole magic from an alicorn queen" Misty added.
But Accordshy shook. "Where the hay did those stories come from? Not sure where you dudes heard those tall tales. The pony who caused it all was no unicorn or alicorn, at least not a real one. She was actually an earth pony who you know as Opaline."
Opaline was an earth pony? Did y'all expect that?
Sorry that Discord is not in this MLP fanfic. But who knows? Maybe he'll make an appearance, as soon as he finds his way out of that alternate reality he's gotten himself trapped in.
P.S. Do any of you like bees? Probably not if you've ever been stung by one. But what if I tell you more about the bee that stung you? Would you still dislike bees if you knew that they die after they sting someone (your bee died for the good of the hive)? How about if you knew that more than half of the world's fats and oils (potato chips, butter, etc.), more than 150 food crops in the U.S. including almost all fruit and grain crops, and over 80% of the 1,400 of the foods we eat depend on pollinators (which include bees)? What would you think if I tell you that pollinators are key to reproduce flowering plants, which help to produce breathable oxygen by utilizing the carbon dioxide and purify water and prevent erosion through roots that holds the soil in place, and foliage that buffers the impact of rain as it falls to the earth? So now that you know more about how important pollinators like bees are, how do you feel about their populations declining? One of the reasons why pollinators are experiencing a decrease in numbers over the recent years is due to the use of pesticides such as insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides in urban and agricultural areas. These pesticides remove important floral resources, effects reproduction, navigation and memory, and just about all kinds of pesticides can kill pollinators. Exposure to pesticides can also result in other stressors on pollinator populations, such as loss of habitat and exposure to diseases. Please, put an end to the use of these harmful pesticides so that pollinators like bees can continue to help produce food, spread flowers, and make breathable air and water. Our future depends on how many pollinators are left in the world. Without them, it will cause a drastic affect on everyone. Also, try not to get stung so that no bees die as a result.
