"Ash, I have good news," Professor Oak told Ash. "Your Bayleef and my Meganium produced an egg."
"Would it be a Chikorita?" Ash asked.
Professor Oak nodded. "That's what I'm hoping. Professor Elm expressed interested in the egg since Chikorita is a Johto starter."
"I can take it to him," Ash replied.
"That would be splendid," Professor Oak said.
Ash took his Johto team – Bayleef, Totodile, Quilava, Noctowl, and Donphan – with him as he traveled to the Johto region. He had to blast Team Rocket's Jessie and James into the sky a few times on his journey. Jessie and James were interested in the egg.
Ash arrived in New Bark Town and bumped into James. James took the opportunity to take the egg and started running.
"Pikachu, use agility," Ash commanded.
Pikachu quickly caught up with James and tackled James. James let go of the egg allowing Ash to grab the egg. A quick Thunderbolt sent James and Jessie flying away.
"Team Rocket's blasting away," Jessie, James, and Mewoth cried.
"Wobbuffet," Jessie's Wobbuffet cried having popped out of his Pokeball.
Ash handed the egg to Professor Elm and headed home.
