Chapter Two: Waking Up In Hell Part 2

Xandar's P.O.V:

I stand, waiting for Stolas to do whatever the hell he feels like. Since, you know...I was given to him as a "reward." I can't help but shiver, despite the room not feeling cold. I'm honestly terrified. I knew I'd die one day. I just didn't picture it being at the hands of demonic royalty.

I pace the room back and forth nervously. "Ok Xandar," I say to myself. "You just gotta be brave. The moment he turns his head, run." I nod to myself silently. Maybe I have a chance to-

"Don't even think about it," Stolas says, shadow looming over me. Well, there goes THAT idea. "You know," Stolas Begins, "it wouldn't have worked anyway. Especially when you talk to yourself," he explains.

Damn it, I thought I was quiet enough. Stolas clears his throat, a demand to turn and face him. I feel my throat go dry as I turn around. The owl in question has his arms crossed and he stares at me.

I realize now how royally fucked I am at this point. He walks forward, and I feel myself engulfed in his shadow as he grabs my arm and begins to drag me somewhere. As we make our way down a hall, I see a younger owl who looks at me with wide eyes. I simply look away.

My heart beat fast. Possibly due to the fact that I might get killed. I try to slow my breathing, but it doesn't help. I am dragged into an office and thrown onto the floor. I stand up and see Stolas take a seat at the desk.

"Now then, human," Stolas begins staring at me with his unwavering glare. "You are going to tell me me HOW you got here, and why." He has an elegant voice, but the demand was present.

I look at him in fear and whimper. The owl rolls his eyes and he shakes his head. "If you don't answer the question immediately," his eyes glow more red than they were. "I will be happy to give you a reason to be terrified."

"Ok, ok!" I said raising my hands in defense. Sure, like that's going to work. The owl, seemingly pleased, nods indicating me to explain. "I'm not exactly sure how I got here," I explain, "but I know it happened after dinner. Anything past that is fuzzy."

The owl seems...shocked for some reason. "Hold on," Stolas begins holding two fingers on his forehead. "You mean to tell me, you have no idea whatsoever how you got here?" He inquires.

I nod quickly. Even though he seems shocked now. I must NOT let my guard down. Stolas after a solid minute of contemplation sighs. "There is only one way you're here now," he begins seeming frustrated. "You must've made some form of agreement with one of our crossroads demons."

Crossroads demon? The hell even is that? "Um...sir?" I begin timidly as the owl turns his head to me so fast I hear a crack. I shudder and take a deep breath. "What's a...crossroads demon?" I ask.

Stolas sighs. "A crossroads demon," he explains irritated, "is a powerful demon who can only make an arrangement if the other person agrees to it. It's essentially selling your soul to fulfill a desire."

My jaw drops in shock. An agreement...to fulfill a desire? "But, I don't think I'd do that," I say quickly. "Hell," I continue, "if I did, I don't remember doing that."

Stolas rolls his eyes again. "Typical. You must have had your memory erased so the demon could cover his tracks."

I nod. "Are you going to kill me?" I say quietly. The owl looks at me annoyed.

"As much as I'd love killing you for mocking my little imp. I can't. No one can kill a being when they make a wager," he explains. "You can get shot, stabbed and tortured. But you won't die."

I realize what this means. I can't die since I made the wager in the first place. But I can be hurt. Seriously hurt.

Stolas sighs for quite possibly the umpteenth time. "I suppose since I can't kill you. Let me offer you a deal," he says.

My head begins to pound. Why does it hurt so much?

"Allow me to offer you a deal Xandar," a pleasant voice says. I vividly see a face, but I can't make out what he looks like...

"In return for my little imp...uh, imps protecting you," Stolas continues, "you will help them." Stolas says with a glare.

"Yes!" I agree quickly. The owl seems taken aback by my sudden outburst. I cough awkwardly and say, "I mean uh...I will help them. Anything to survive this, literal hellhole." I realize what I said and stutter, "N-no offense. O-of course."

"Alright," Stolas says. "I shall phone Blitzo's number and discuss the terms with him."

"Do you think he'll agree?" I ask. When the owl glares I realize I overstepped a bit. "Sorry," I say looking down instantly.

"Blitzo has no choice in the matter," Stolas replies adjusting his royal hat. "You and I made an agreement. So he will do so even if he doesn't desire it. Wait here," Stolas says pulling out his cell phone. "I will be right back. And don't think of leaving. That would mean forfeiting the deal," Stolas says closing and locking the door behind me.

Normal P.O.V:

Stolas sighed. Not only was he irritated at the human who was on the other side of the door, but he was more irritated that a crossroads demon would make a deal that exposed Hell's existence altogether.

He thought of the human himself for a solid moment. He seemed kind. Too kind. He knew instantly that the human would go to Heaven due to his quiet and innocent personality. However, he did make a deal with a demon. That was grounds for instant Hell punishment.

Sighing once more, he pulled out his cellphone and dialed the number. Using his demon powers he made sure the human was still in the office. Which he was. He as well looked into the human's mind. He was scared, but willing to make good on his arrangement.

After three rings, Blitzo answered the phone. "What do you want Stolas?" Blitzo asked irritated.

"Oh Blitzy," Stolas replied seductively. "Do you really think I wouldn't call you? Especially since I haven't paid you yet?" He states in the form of a question. He hears Blitzo sigh.

"Ok, what's your point?" Blitzo demanded. Stolas loved this side of Blitzo's personality. It made him extremely happy. In all the wrong ways.

"I have interrogated the human and-" Stolas was cut off by Blitzo's response.

"I'm sorry...WHAT!?" He shouted into the receiver.

"I had to see how he got here," Stolas explained. "When I did," Stolas stopped thinking of his next response.

"When you did?" Blitzo asked almost mockingly. Blitzo may have hated his rendezvous with Stolas. But he hated hearing no response to a statement. That almost instantly meant bad news. At least for him.

"I found out he made a deal with a crossroads demon," Stolas explained. For a solid fifteen seconds. There was no conversation, on either end. Then, he received the expected result.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Blitzo asked annoyed. "How much more problematic can this human be?" He asked rhetorically.

"Well, considering the fact he and I made an arrangement that he'll be helping you-" Stolas began. He didn't get a chance to finish due to the expected response.

"You WHAT!?" Blitzo roared. It was an expected response. Stolas would have felt the exact same way had he been in Blitzo's shoes. But a deal's a deal.

"Look. I know he caused you some...inconveniences-" Stolas tried but was cut off again.

"Inconveniences? Stolas, he's a whiny bitch! Why in Hell's red earth, would I even consider this?" Blitzo demanded.

Stolas frowned. Knowing Blitzo would most likely try to talk his way out of it, Stolas continued. "Blitzy," he began with an authoritative tone, "You know full well that a deal is a deal. I read his mind and he already agreed to it." He waited for Blitzo's response. Though it wasn't the response he was expecting.

"Wait. You can read people's minds?" He asked curious.

"Blitzo," Stolas began using his "little imps" true name for the first time. "The matter at hand is that we both made an agreement. You will be helping him in return for him helping you. Do I make myself clear?" He stated bluntly.

"Yes Stolas," Blitzo replied with a defeated sigh. "Bring him over as soon as you can."

"Absolutely. See you soon Blitzy!" He said, sexual manner returning.

As Stolas was about to walk into his office, Octavia, his daughter walked up to him. "Oh, hello Octavia!" Stolas said in a cheery manner. "What can I help my little owlet with?" He inquires.

Octavia crosses her arms. "What's with the human?" She asks bluntly.

Stolas rubbed his temples. He knew it wouldn't be that easy. "The human made a deal with a crossroads demon. Apparently that deal made him end up here," Stolas explained again.

"Are you serious?" Octavia demands in her monotone voice.

"I don't like it either Via," he says using her nickname. "But until I find a solution, he'll have...other arrangements."

Octavia rolls her eyes. "Whatever," she states before walking away.

Stolas tilted his head. "Why has she been so standoffish lately?" He wondered to himself. He shrugs after a moment of contemplation and walks into the office to talk to the human.

Xandar's P.O.V;

To say that walking through a portal was boring, is the exact opposite of what I was thinking. Stolas had me walk through a portal to the imps' office. I thought it would be fun. Not only was it not fun, it was so dull that I was actually disappointed.

As I took in my surroundings I notice a...werewolf? I walk up the the desk she's sitting at and ask, "Where is..." I trail off and look at a piece of paper. "Blitzo?"

The wolf types something on her phone and looks up at me without any interest. "He's in his office," she says bored. "Just don't use the O. The O is silent." She explains brushing me off.

"Thank you," I say as I walk up to the office.

"Whatever," she says uninterested. Why is she a receptionist if all she does is look at her phone? And not the company phone either.

Before I knock on the door I hear a voice say, "What the hell?" I turn and see Moxxie. "Loona!" He scolds, "why did you let the human in here?" Loona shrugs.

"What are you doing here?" He demands me.

"Stolas made a deal with Blitzo," I reply making sure to use his "correct" name spelling.

"What kind of deal?" The female imp interrogates walking up.

"You guys are suppose to help protect me. In return I help you, simple as that," I shrug.

"Wait, wait, wait," Moxxie began grabbing his forehead. "Blitzo actually agreed to this?" He inquires incredulously. I nod. "Ok," he says with a determined look. Moments after he walks in, he walks back out with an irritated expression. "Okay," he says with an eye roll. "He did agree."

I nod. "Thank you," I say curtly.

"Don't mention it. EVER," Moxxie clarifies and walks off.

I'm about to ask the female about his response and she holds up a finger. "Don't even talk to me. I couldn't care less what you have to say," she states walking away.

"You could at least tell me your name," I call after her.

She opens the door, walks out of it, gives me a death glare and says "My name is Millie," before slamming the door.

"That could've gone better..." I trail off.

"Ya think?" Loona asks sarcastically.

I roll my eyes. What is with this chicks attitude? She's so bitchy it isn't funny. Is everyone like this? Oh wait, don't answer that. I look back at the office and knock determinedly. Before I can even do the second knock, Blitzo opens the door.

"Get in here, we're doing an interview," he growls and I walk in faster than you can say "what the hell?"

I sit down as Blitzo does the same. He is so short compared to me that when I sat down, he had to look upwards to meet my eyes.

"First question," he begins uninterested. "What's your name?"

"Xandar Lee," I reply and Blitzo raises an eyebrow. I can tell he thinks it's a nickname. I am proven correct when he says his, "well formulated" response.

"Seriously? Your name is actually Xandar Lee?" He asks skeptically.

"Yes," I reply.

"Whatever. What are your strengths and weaknesses?" He inquires hurriedly. He probably wants to end the interview as fast as humanly possible.

"My strengths are reading and writing. My weaknesses are math and science," I answer. Blitzo stares at me in annoyance. Why is he so annoyed? I answered the question.

"When I say strengths and weaknesses, I don't mean bull shit school things. I mean, are you a fighter or know how to use guns or swords?" He finishes impatiently. Is he for real? Oh wait. This is an assassin business.

"No," I reply. "I have zero fighting experience. I haven't even used a sword. Let alone a gun. I don't even know how to fight," I finish.

Blitzo sighs. "Ugh, of course you don't," he says leaning back in annoyance. He finally leans forward. "Look, kid-" he begins for me to cut him off.

"I'm twenty two," I reply.

"What?" Blitzo asks in shock. He doesn't even give me a chance to explain. "Ok, listen. I don't really give a flying fuck that I'm supposed to 'help you,'" he says using air quotes. "If you have no fighting experience than you're of no use to this business." He stops for a minute, an idea popping into his head.

I see the look he's giving me. It's a cruel smirk. What does this asshole have in mind?

"But we have a few clogged toilets and sinks to be taken care of," he says with a sadistic grin.

Of course I'm going to clean a fucking bathroom...
