Videl's eyes were focused as she flew through the morning sky, pushing her vehicle to the limits as she passed range after range as if it was nothing. She believed every word that Bulma had said to her the previous night even if most of it had seemed unbelievable. The scientist had had no reason to lie to her and as a result the crime fighter had full belief that she would receive some sort of answers out in the middle of nowhere.
Bulma had also given her word that she would fight alongside Gohan to prove his innocence so that she had nothing to worried about. Before having left home Videl had left the recorder on the television as she was confident that the verbal clash between Bulma and her father would be something she'd love reliving over and over again. She was well aware that her father was intimidating when he wanted to be and considering that the world had already heard what he had said he would fight this tooth and nail. Videl didn't doubt that another dirty play had been made already and suspected that her father may have had something planted in Gohan's locker at school in order to prove himself right. It was merely a theory however but in order to come out on top she doubted that there wasn't nothing that her father would do.
Bulma however she fully believed would be able to stand up to the savior of the world. Even talking to her last night Videl could just feel strength radiating off of the woman even if it wasn't so much physical but more experience. While her father held the belt Bulma had stated during her story that she had gone on a solo adventure when she was a teenager across the world before being joined by a boy who could throw cars as easy as pebbles. This was somebody who was fully aware about Gohan's background and would undoubtedly come out on top in this contest of wills. Plus Videl was already aware of the fact that there was some manner of bad blood between the two of them even if she didn't exactly know why. Her having gone to his party when Hercule had just defeated Cell was enough proof of that. Even though it had been years ago Videl could still picture her look of dissatisfaction and disapproval of the whole charade and it was only her position as one of the most powerful women in the world that kept her there.
Videl was going to enjoy the recording immensely when she returned home.
For now though she had to focus on the task ahead of her and what she would find in the Pendulum Room, whatever that was. Just repeating the ominous name in her mind sent shivers down Videl's spine, for a singular room to have such a title immediately made warning alarms go off in her subconscious. Her determination however to know the truth kept pushing her forward.
Glancing at her phone momentarily, she knew that Erasa had probably tried to make contact with her considering it wasn't often that she skipped out on school without notification. Either that or some crime going on in the middle of the city that she needed to help out with. Considering that there was no service out here truly gave Videl the sense that there was something out here that was worth finding since there were very few places worldwide that didn't even have a single bar of signal. She was also able to figure out that Gohan still lived further out of Satan City than she currently was and she had been flying for the better part of thirty minutes. Just how Gohan got to school every day still remained a mystery although with his connection to Bulma Briefs there was the possibility that she had developed some sort of transport much faster than anything on the market. Looking at the weights on her wrists Videl believed that there was something else she wasn't thinking about. Having ridden on his back as he leaped over rooftops like it was nothing while traveling at speeds faster than the traffic below them Videl knew that that wasn't the teenagers full potential. The possibility that he simply leaped his way over hundreds of miles seemed literally ludicrous but having seen him cross half a kilometer in a single bound almost made the theory plausible.
Lifting up her arm and rubbing at her eyes, Videl could feel the lack of sleep taking an effect over her. It wasn't surprising that she had struggled to get much sleep the previous night considering everything that had been going through her mind. Who was right, who was wrong, was there even a right or wrong? These questions had plagued her mind well past the end of the day and into the dark morning hours. The final question she had toyed with the most out of everything else; was there actually a good and a bad side during this bout or was this about ignorance and a lack of belief. Videl had watched the World Tournament bouts that had happened before her father's reign as champion despite the fact that her father declared that those fighters had no honor and used tricks to defeat their opponents. At the time Videl had believed her fathers words but now she wasn't so sure. Having seen someone lift something a hundred times her own weight with minimal strain made her question a lot of things.
Her eyes widened slightly as she noticed a line in the sky in front of her. Rubbing her eyes to make sure she wasn't hallucinating Videl was able to confirm that there was indeed a giant pillar stretching up high into the clouds farther than anything she had seen before. A quick check of her coordinates confirmed that she had reached her destination and began her ascent. Considering that there was no vertical boosters on her jet copter there was no point in even attempting to close the distance further before making her way into the clouds. With every passing second she felt that she was getting closer to her final goal and prayed that she didn't leave with more questions than answers.
With how everything had been going lately she somehow doubted that that would be the case.
Videl was brought back to reality as alarms started blaring off within the cockpit, her eyes widening as she quickly sought to rectify the situation. Having not even gotten close to the top she was not going to give up so easily! When she discovered that there was an engine failure due to overheating she suddenly realized the situation she was actually in as the ascent she had been on came to a close before her rapid descent began.
"Shit shit shit!" she cursed as she did everything in her power to get the engines back online, do everything in her power as she continued to plummet dozens of feet every passing second with her speed only getting faster. Videl didn't even pay attention to the rate of which she was falling already fully aware of the fact that there was no way she was going to survive the impending crash. As her rate of acceleration continued to increase and the ground became ever closer Videl became aware of the fate that awaited her if she was to stay within the cockpit. With adrenaline pumping through her veins she unbuckled herself from the pilot's seat and scrambled for the parachute that resided beneath her seat.
Or should have been.
"You've got to be kidding me!" shouted Videl as the distinct possibility of her impending doom began to sink in. With only a thousand feet between her and the ground there was no way that she'd be able to get the engine going again and slow the vehicle down. That didn't stop her from trying though as she began pushing every possible button at her disposal, praying that one of them did something adequate.
One did.
A scream of shock escaped her lips as the roof of her transport tore off and Videl found herself flung into the air as the chair she had been sitting on was ejected from the cockpit. Her sleep deprived brain suddenly came to the conclusion that there was no parachute under her seat because there was one attached to the chair she had been sitting on.
That she was no longer strapped in to.
As the parachute for the chair was deployed Videl could only watch from a distance as she continued to fall through the sky, flailing around in desperation that something, anything would happen; that perhaps even this was a bad dream and she was thrashing around in her sleep. When she failed to wake up however steady realization settled in that this was the end. Closing her eyes, Videl accepted her fate and allowed gravity to due it's job and pulled her towards the ground.
She could hear the explosion from the jet copter from where she was and imagined there was a devastating scene underneath her but she paid it little attention. Her descent came to an abrupt stop however and she felt the weights on her wrists and ankles nearly pull her arms and legs out of their respective sockets. Opening her eyes and looking at the ground beneath her, Videl saw that she was no longer falling to her death.
"Your attempt was never going to succeed," said a gruff voice from above her. Looking over her shoulder she found that a green man was holding her in the middle of the air by the back of her clothing as if it was a casual event. Before all of that however she could easily recognize just who it was that was preventing her from colliding with the ground.
"Majunior?"
...
Hope you enjoyed.
