Chapter 11: Fly Spy
a few days have passed since the soccer game at the diamond stadium, at chris's school, he and his class were taking art class, and he and his friends were drawing pictures
"so what do you think" chris said as he showed his pictures it was a women in a kimono dress, who was holding a diamond
"wow that's pretty impressive chris" said helen
"if you think that's cool check mine out" danny said, he showed his picture it was dragon but it was poorly drawn, its body was too wide, its eyes were too far apart, and its mouth was crookedly drawn, it creep out chris and helen a bit
"so what do you think" danny asked
"well looks like i'll be bleaching my eyes later" said frances
"thanks for the constructive criticism" danny said sarcastically
"let's keep the chatting to a minimum and focus on the painting" said mr stewart
"sorry" said danny
mr stewart walked by and saw chris's drawing
"that's a nice looking emerald on that drawing" said mr stewart
"well actually its a diamond" said chris
"oh sorry,say since i brought up an emerald i heard a red emerald was found somewhere recently around silky heights." said mr stewart
chris's friends were surprise by this news, while chris raised an eyebrow
"and you know this...how?" chris asked
"oh um i heard it on the news they found it in an old dilapidated factory not too long ago" said mr stewart
"wow thanks for telling us this" said helen
"yeah...thanks" chris said in a suspicious voice
the gang were unaware that a familiar bat was watching them from the window
"hm, who knows what interesting little tidbits you can pick up if you hang around long enough" said rouge
back at the mansion sonic tails, amy, and cream and cheese were i the living room, eating pizza while watching the news
"i'm coming to you live from the national museum where officials say the world's largest diamond was stolen late last night. law enforcement authorities are baffled by the outbreak of precious gem robberies, but private sources tell SSTV that they believe this was merely the biggest in a series of jewel thefts that have plagued station square in recent days" scarlet explained
"hmm strange chris told me that museum had really good security" said tails
"there's only person that could rob that many places that easily without getting caught...sonic you don't think that was...you know who" said amy
"hmm yeah that could be her" sonic responded
just then they heard knocking on the front door , sonic ran to the door and opened it revealing danny and frances
"hey sonic" said danny
"hey guys what's up" said sonic
"you and tails ready to get going" frances asked
"yeah we are i'll go get the x tornado ready" tails said as he ran off
"where you guys going" cream asked
"to look for an emerald" said danny
"yeah apparently chris's teacher told chris and his friends that he heard there is a red emerald that was discovered in a old factory at silky height's" said sonic
"really that's great!" said amy
"wait where chris is he coming with you guys" cream asked
"nah he couldn't make it, he and helen are down at emerald coast watching some firework show that's happening there, also he doesn't think its a good idea for us to head over to that factory, he told me he hasn't seen any news reports or articles about a red emerald being over there so he doesn't know how his teacher could know about that, he kinda suspicious about it and believes it might be a trap" said sonic
"do you think its a trap" amy asked
"maybe it is, maybe it isn't i don't care, if there's a chance of finding one of those emeralds i say lets give it a shot and besides if does turn out to be a trap i shouldn't have an issue taking out a few kidnappers" said sonic
"can we come" amy asked
"i don't see why not" said sonic
"sorry but i think i'm gonna have to pass on this one azumanga daioh is about to come on and there's no way me and cheese are missing it" said cream
"guys the x tornado is ready!" tails shouted from outside
"alright guys lets get going" said sonic
meanwhile at the white house, the president was having a meeting with his staff
"something has to be done, gentlemen. we must take action, robotnik has shown that he is a threat to our nation's security. we've no choice but to launch an attack" the president explained
"mr. president, i want to stop this dr robotnik as much as you do, but it's not so simple" said the chairman
"im afraid the chairman is right, sir. after examining the remnants of one of robotnik's robots, we've determined that his technical capabilities and military hardware far surpass our current weapon system" one of his advisors explained
"that may be so, but it doesn't change the fact that something must be done" said the president.
"would you consider asking sonic to assist with this mission" his 2nd advisor suggested
"sonic"?' said the president
"robotnik's an unusual enemy, sir, and that calls for an unusual ally, from the information we could gather, this doctor and hedgehog have bit of a history together, with this in mind, sir, i think sonic's got what it takes to get the best of him. he just might be the only hope we have, mr. president." the 1st advisor explained
"that's true, but how do we know we can even communicate with a hedgehog?' said the president
"our operatives have observed him speaking to the young boy he's staying with. he understands the language" the 1st advisor explained
"fine, then we'll do it." said the president
"sir, i think you've made the right decision" said the 1st advisor
after running through the city, sonic made it to silky heights, he stopped in front of a sign that said factory and there was an arrow facing right
meanwhile the x tornado was flying above sonic
"man this plane rocks!" said danny
"okay cool it will ya danny" said frances
"hey sonic!" amy shouted
sonic looked up and saw the plane
"tails head to the right!" sonic shouted to him
"on it!" tails said as he flew the plane to the right direction
sonic was about to make his way down the right path however he stopped when he heard bushes behind him move, he turned around and saw a familiar looking female bat mobian going down the left path,
"is that who i think it is...is that rouge" sonic muttered to himself, he decided to quietly follow her, they soon arrived at the abandoned factory
"the abandoned factory? she must have messed with the arrow and trick us to going the other way, i thought it looked kinda tampered with" sonic thought to himself
rouge entered the old factory, meanwhile sonic hid by the door, and peaked through the corner
"that's it now time to see if i can find another emerald" said rouge
sonic smirked "so rouge got sent her too huh, i guess that makes sense since she was in robotnik's base when the chaos control happened, i guess she was responsible for all those jewelry store robberies he funny even when she's trap in another world with no idea how to get back home, still all that's on her mind are jewels" he thought to himself
rouge flew around a bit but then noticed a white bead on the floor, she picked it up
"what this" rouge wondered
just then 4 spotlights turned on and rouge was surrounded by solders and they had their guns aimed at her, however rouge didn't seem fazed in the slightest
"my my trying to trap me" said rouge
sonic raised an eyebrow "huh i guess it really was a trap" sonic then saw a one of the solider walk towards rouge, it was a women with short blonde hair
sonic snickered "well she's bit of a looker"
"don't make a move" the women solider said as she grabbed rouge's wrist and took out a pair of handcuffs
"whatever you like, you know your not that bad looking for an old lady" rouge remarked
topaz blushed while the solders behind her snickered
"what are you clowns laughing at!" topaz said angrily
sonic snickered and rolled his eyes "oh yeah rouge coming from the person who has the voice of an old lady" he muttered
just then a middle age man walk towards rouge he had white hair, and gray service dress uniform, black combat boots, and white gloves, one thing about him that caught sonic and rouge attention was his different colored pupils, one was green and one was brown
"commander!" said topaz
the commander looked at rouge sternly "what exactly are you suppose to be?"
"the names rouge the bat honey and i'm afraid i'm not going anywhere, matter of fact, i kinda like being part of the spotlight" said rouge
"hey, i've seen you somewhere before. that's right! you're the one that snuck into the national museum and stole that diamond, aren't you" said the commander
"the one and only by the way what gives, i heard the security at that place is the best there is, but if that's suppose to be the best security this world has, i hate to see what the ammeter kind looks like, bummer i was looking forward to a challenge" said rouge
"we set up a trap to catch sonic, and who do we wind up with but a jewel thief? funny how things work out that way" said the commander
"world works in mysterious ways sweetie" said rouge
"stop calling me that, your coming with us, your in serious trouble" said the commander
"whatever you say i guess i could humor you guys for a while" said rouge
sonic saw them walking out, he headed up to the factories roof so he wouldn't get caught, he watched as the solders put rouge in helicopter, and they then flew off into the sky
"guess i better tell the other about this" said sonic
meanwhile at the other path the x tornado landed and everyone in it got out and tried to see where the factory was
"i'm starting to think we went the wrong way" said danny
"oh you don't say" said frances
the gang then saw sonic running towards them, he stopped right in front of them
"hey guys" said sonic
"sonic where did you go" said tails
"yeah you disappeared on us" said amy
"i'll get to that in a bit but right now i got some news to tell you guys" said sonic
"so rouge is here too!" said amy
"yeah i guess so" said sonic
"so this bat girl your talking about trick us into going the wrong way, why would she do that" frances asked
"well you see the thing with rouge, she has a thing for jewels, and considering what we were after was somewhat of a jewel, its pretty self explanatory, anyway it turns out it was a trap, a group of military soldiers were there waiting for me, but they got rouge instead" sonic explained
"they got rouge!...should we help her" said tails
"nah she didn't really seem to have an issue going with them and knowing her i'm sure she'll be fine, its honestly the soldiers i'm more worried for" said sonic
"huh...i guess chris was right to be suspicious" said danny
"what does the government want with you" tails questioned
"beats me speaking of chris we should probably let him know about this" said sonic
at emerald coast the sun was starting to set, and chris and helen, along with a bunch of other people were on the beach waiting for the fireworks to start
"really?" said chris
"yeah iv'e heard there building this new water park by emerald coast called twinkle park and its gonna have more than just pools, its also gonna have a roller coaster, a mirror maze, and some race track" helen explained
"hmm sounds interesting, maybe the 2 of us can go check it out when it opens" said chris
"sounds like a plan" helen responded
just then the sky got darker and the fireworks started, chris, helen and everyone else were amazed by it
suddenly chris felt weight on his shoulder, he noticed helen was resting her head on it, which made him blushed a little
"h-helen one step at a time please" said chris
"hey what can i say i'm a fast one" helen responded as she scooted closer to chris and held his hand
the 2 continued to watch the fireworks and eventually looked at each other, then their faces started to get closer and closer to each other
"having fun you too" said danny
chris and helen flinched and jumped, they turned the other way and saw sonic and the others watching them
"ow!" danny said after frances punched him the arm
"you just had to run your mouth seriously they were this close!" said frances
"what are you guys doing here" chris said in a annoyed tone
"we got some news to tell you" said sonic
sonic got done explain to chris what happen
"didn't i tell you guys not to go over there!" said chris
sonic shrugged "hey can't blame me for being curious"
"so yeah anyway turns out it was a trap there were military soldiers over there waiting for sonic, guess you were right to be suspicious" said amy
"yeah no kidding" said chris
"i'm also starting believe too that this teacher of yours might be a spy, there no way he could have known there was an emerald there cause like you said there were no news reports about a emerald being at that factory and its not like he could have saw it himself cause the place was blocked by a gate...almost as if that was something he made up to lure in sonic" said tails
"alright iv'e had just about enough of this" chris said as he walked away
"where you going" helen asked
i'm gonna pay are teacher a little visit" said chris
sonic smirked "well things are about to get juicy" he said as he followed chris
meanwhile in the classroom at chris's school, mr stewart had to stay there late to do some paperwork, he was at his desk doing it, when his ringing phone interrupted him, he picked it up and answer it
"hello" stewart asked
"hey stewart its me james"
james is one of the gun soldiers, and a friend of stewart
"oh hey james say did the trap work were you able to catch this blue hedgehog guy" stewart asked
"the hedgehog no but we did capture this bat lady, apparently her name is rouge and get this, she was responsible for the jewel store robberies in station square, including the one at the national museum" said james
"really wow!...so are you guys gonna arrest her" stewart asked
"we were but we took her to the president and he made a deal with her, they'll offer her complete immunity of her crimes if she works as a undercover agent for us, he feels like she'll be useful for are current mission" james explained
"mission?" said mr stewart
"were infiltrating dr robotnik's base that's located on a small island in the middle of the ocean, and that bat women is coming along with us" james explained
"really!...w-well be careful this dr robotnik guy seems to be pretty dangerous" said stewart
"relax will be fine" james responded
"hey soldier talk on your own time!" commander shouted in the background
"sorry sir hey i gotta go, i'll tell ya how the mission went when we get back" said james
the phone hanged up and second it did, the door to classroom shot up open revealing chris, who had a stern look on his face, his friends were right behind him
"chris! what are you and your friends doing here so late, school doesn't start til next monday morning" mr stewart said in a surprise voice
"we know" said chris
mr stewart raised an eyebrow "know what?"
"who you really are, your a spy sent by the government to track down and capture sonic and his friends, that why you made up that story about the emerald in the old factory, it was trap made to capture him, well if you and your little military friends want to capture and experiment on them your gonna try harder than that!" said chris
mr stewart's eyes widen "how did he find out everything!" he thought, however he tried to stay calm, he wasn't gonna let his cover be blown that easily
mr stewart sighed "look chris i get i'm still kinda new around here so your probably still not comfortable with me however you can't just throw accusations like that, i have absolutely no connections to the government, i'm just a simple man trying to give preteens like yourselves a good education"
chris raised an eyebrow "oh really well let me ask you this would a completely innocent an simple teacher leave a recording device in my house"
chris pulled out the tiny recording device which surprised mr stewart he thought he hid that very well,
"um...what is that" mr stewart said as he decided to play dumb
"its the recording device you placed in my house your thought your being really clever hiding it behind are family painting but nothing in are house gets past are butler, he has extremely good hearing and he discovered your little device beeping" said chris
"chris i have no idea what that device is, i have never seen it in my life" said mr stewart
"oh yes you have i know it belongs to you cause after mr tanaka gave it to me, i scanned it and it has your fingerprints on it" said chris
mr stewarts eyes widen and he started sweating
"sorry man but the jig is up" said danny
"your busted" said frances
"look guys i now how this may look but i have a perfect explanation for this" said my stewart
helen crossed her arms "were listening"
mr stewart remain silent for a few seconds but then out of nowhere pulled out a smokebomb and threw it on the ground, it exploded and chris and his friends coughed as they were covered in smoke, once the smoke clouds cleared they were surprised to see that mr stewart was gone, they saw the classroom door was open and they heard fast footsteps
"he's making a run for it after him!" chris shouted
mr stewarts dashed outside and got into his car and drove off, meanwhile chris and his friends got outside
chris called sonic on his phone "sonic he's making a run for it try to slow him down"
"i figured he would i'm on it" sonic responded
"we can't let him get away!" said helen
"he won't rocket skates activate" chris shouted, the shoes transformed into his rocket skates and he blast off
"how come he never made me a pair of the rocket skates" danny asked
"cause you would break them less than a hour" said frances
mr stewart was driving away while talking to one of the other government spies on his phone
"my covers is at risk of being blown i need to escape now, i'll meet you at the randevu point at emerald coast!" said mr stewart, he countinued to drive but stopped when their was a road closed sign in front of him
"what!" said mr stewart, he tried driving to other roads but they were blocked by road close signs too
"what the!" said mr stewart on a skyscraper sonic was looking down and snickered
"good a pile of road closed signs were sitting around by that construction site" sonic said to himself
"great at this rate i never get to randevu point" mr stewart said to himself
"mr stewart!"
stewart turned around and saw chris was catching up to him
"yikes time to go!" said mr stewart, he saw that buses were passing by and got an idea, he got out of his car and got on top of it, he then jumped onto the top of a nearby buses and it drove off, chris saw this and growled
"you not getting away from me that easily" said chris he saw some car going the same way the bus, he waited for them to get close and jumped onto the top of one , he then jumped onto other ones , and then jumped and climbed onto the bus mr stewart was one
"mr stewart!" said chris
"crap!" said mr stewart, he saw more buses in front of them and jumped on it, chris followed him and they were both jumping onto other buses, the people on the streets were looked at the scene amazed, and were taking photos as well
"you seem pretty acrobatic did they teach you those in spy school" said chris
"no i took gymnastics when i was a kid and again i'm not a spy!' said mr stewart
mr stewart and chris stopped running when they saw there was no nearby vehicles to jump too
"looks like you have no where to run" said chris
"good thing i have another trick up my sleeve" mr stewart thought, he pressed a button on his shoes and rocket came out under them, and he took off into the sky
chris rolled his eyes, and activated his backpacks jet pack and he took off into the sky too, he caught up to mr stewart which surprised the man
"he has a jet pack too well i guess that shouldn't be a surprise since his technology is impressive" mr stewart thought
"does a normal teacher have access to rocket shoes!" said chris
"uh i won it in a game show" mr stewart responded
"say do those shoes have metal at the bottom" chris asked
"uh yeah" mr stewart responded
chris smirked "well that too bad for you"
"what do you mean?" said mr stewart
just then to stewart's surprise a magnetic force pulled him and he his shoes stuck him to some magnet, it turns out it came from the x tornado
"i got him chris!" said tails
mr stewart took off the rocket shoes and started falling
"oh i don't got him chris" said tails
chris growled and followed the falling spy
stewart was falling to the ground he pulled a string on his backpack and a parachute came out of it, he landed safely on a skyscraper
"mr stewart!"
mr stewart saw chris flying down and landing on the same building
"i gotta give this kid some credit, he sure doesn't quit easily" mr stewart thought, he then ran off and chris admittedly followed
the 2 jump from building from building, the next one was a little further away , mr stewart pulled out a hand glider, from his backpack and used it to get to the other side
chris took out his bo staff and used it as a jump pole to pole vault his way to other side
"that hurt my arm a little" chris said to himself
mr stewart stopped running when he saw that down below was emerald coast and there was a black ship with the g.u.n logo on it
"there's my escape" mr stewart said to himself as he got out his hang glider
"oh no you don't!" said chris he took out one of his homemade ice balls and threw them at mr stewart's feet, trapping them in ice
mr stewart was surprise by this, he tried to break free, but it wouldn't budge, he was trapped
chris ran to him and got in front of the teacher
"alright no more running i want answers now spy!" chris demanded
"chris for the last time. i'm not a spy!" mr stewart responded
"then what other reason would you place a recorder at my house!" chris said angrily
"well i uh...oh well remember when i told you i followed you in my car cause i was concern for you, well that the same reason i really care about the well being of my students, so i placed a recorder in your house just to make sure you have a healthy home life" mr stewart lied
chris thought about that for a few seconds an then a smirk appeared on his face "you care about the well being of your students, so that means you have recorders in all the students houses"
"uh...y-yes" said mr stewart
"oh i get it now" said chris
"that's great" said mr stewart
"your not a spy...your a pedo" said chris
mr stewart's eyes widen "w-what!, n-no that's not it at all!" he shouted
"yeah your into children are you, you know i don't think the principle of my school, will be really happy to know he hired a creep to be around kids" said chris
"chris i swear i'm not a pedo!" said mr stewart
"well then what are you really, are you a spy or a pedo" chris questioned
mr stewart sighed, seeing that he had no other way out of this, he decided to finally come clean
"okay okay i admit it...i-i'm a spy, i was sent by the government to find out if sonic and his friends were living at your house" mr stewart explained
chris smirked "i knew it"
"and it turns out they were right my recording device did capture proof of them living at your place, i sent the proof i got to the president" mr stewart explained
"what!" chris shouted, he took out his bo staff and aim it towards mr stewart, and to the his surprise a knife came out from the top
"oh boy that's a sharp knife" said mr stewart
"i don't know why you guys want them but if you and the people you work for want to capture and experiment on sonic and his friends you gonna have to get through me first!" chris said angrily
"no no no you got it all wrong we don't want to experiment on him we just want sonic's help" said mr stewart
chris raised an eyebrow "oh really"
"yeah as you may know this dr robotnik guy has being causing a lot of trouble around town lately, and the president was hoping to fins sonic and ask for his help" mr stewart explained
"oh really"
chris and mr stewart looked up and were surprise to see sonic
"sonic!" said chris
"s-s-so your sonic" mr stewart said in a surprise voice
"that's my name don't wear it out, so your the guy that's been spying on us, a pleasure too finally meet you" sonic said as he shook stewart's hand
"uh i-its a pleasure to meet you too" stewart said nervously
"say if you guys needed my help to kick egghead's butt why didn't you just say so win the first place we could've save ourselves a lot of trouble" said sonic
"wait sonic are you sure we can trust him" said chris
"sure he seems like a trustworthy guy what reason would he need to lie" said sonic
"i promise both of you i'm not lying" said mr stewart
chris sighed "alright if you say so" he then looked at mr stewart, "so what do we now" he asked
"well all you guys can really do now is wait for the government to arrive to ask for sonic's assistance" stewart explained
"okay then" sonic responded he then looked at chris "hey me, tails, and amy are heading back to the mansion, will meet you there"
"got it" chris responded
sonic then ran off, after than frances helen, and danny burst through the door leading up to the buildings roof
"chris we made it!" said danny
"so did he admit it" frances asked
"yeah guy he did, he is indeed a spy" chris responded
"wow...so you really are a spy" said helen
"yeah i am" said mr stewart
"but apparently the people he's working for only want sonic's help, not to hurt him" said chris
"that is indeed true i already sent the information they needed to them" said mr stewart
"well that's good news" said danny
"but wait if your mission's over why are you still here" helen asked
"well to be honest while the whole was suppose to be just a cover i did actually kinda grown to enjoy being your guys teacher" said mr stewart
helen smiled "we enjoyed having you as a teacher, your way better than the last one"
"yeah you actually want to help us learn unlike are previous teacher, she really didn't seem to enjoy being there" said danny
"well can you blame her considering how little she got paid" said frances
"not an excuse" said danny
"great since you guys enjoy having me as your teacher you think we could um...start over and pretend this whole thing never happen" said mr stewart
"yeah" said helen
"sure" said frances
"i don't see why not" said danny
the 4 then looked at chris, who looked away with his arms crossed
"come on chris...for me" helen said with puppy dog eyes
chris sighed heavily and looked at mr stewart
"alright i guess i could give you one last chance" said chris
mr stewart smiled " i'm glad to hear that
chris and mr stewart then shook hands
back at the mansion cream and cheese were watching anime on 4kids
"ha ha ah i love these cheesy anime dubs" said cream
just then the front door open revealing, sonic, tails, amy
"oh hey guys, did you found the emerald" cream asked
"no turns out it was hoax" said tails
"but we did bust a spy so that's something" said sonic
"oh...well do you guys want watch some dubbed anime with me" cream asked
"no thanks i thing i'm going to bed its been a long day" said amy
"yeah it is getting kinda late i think i'm gonna head to bed as well, come on cheese" said cream
"i think i'm gonna head to my workshop and work on the x tornado" said tails
"okay see ya pal" said sonic
tails went to his workshop and amy, cream, and cheese went upstairs
just then chris walked through the front door
"oh hey chris" said sonic
"hey" chris said sadly
sonic raised an eyebrow "what's wrong"
chris sighed "well i'm just a little worried, just how much can we trust mr stewart's words...what if the government tries to take you and the others away"
"relax man i'm sure we can trust this mr stewart guy it really did seem like he was telling us the truth when he said they just want my help" said sonic
chris didn't seem so sure, sonic put his hand on chris's shoulder and gave him a reassured smile
"don't worry man we'll be fine, nothing bad is gonna happen to us, i promise" said sonic
chris smiled "alright i'll take your word for it"
"hey i know what will cheer you up playing a friendly game of after burner" said sonic
chris laughed "you know me so well"
it was the middle of the night, metal sonic was flying through the middle of the ocean, he was sent by the doctor to find some emeralds but failed to find any, he made back to the base, however when he went inside, he saw the place was bit of a wreck and they were bullet marks on the mark, he entered one room and saw robotnik, who was cover in black ashes, looking at a destroyed robot
"piece of junk how could you let yourself get beaten that easily! dr robotnik growled as he kicked the broken robot, which hurt his foot, he then noticed metal sonic
"oh metal sonic did you find any more of the emeralds" the doc asked
"unfortunately no" said metal sonic
"of course you didn't this day just keeps getting better and better" dr robotnik said angrily
"but i did stop by a bar and got to knock a few guys teeth out so that's something...so what happen here" metal sonic asked
"well g.u.n this world's military force thought it was a smart idea to infiltrate my base, they even attempted to steal the emerald that i stole fair and square, well jokes on them they might've gotten out of here alive this time but they just made there death date come early" said dr robotnik
"i like the sound of that" said metal sonic
"i thought you would, get ready metal sonic a huge battle will be commencing real soon" dr robotnik said sisterly
