Chapter 9: Down in Abyssal Dumps
Ding Ding Da Da Ding!
"Thank you for waiting, we've restored your team to full health."
Moon thanked the Nurse as he took his 6 Pokeballs from her. Placing them in his pockets. His battle against Xaiver had been a nightmare, the gyms here in Torren did not mess around.
As he cracked his neck and stretched, he exited the Pokemon center and was about to make his way south, before he caught the eyes of something suspicious.
He saw a purple-haired girl wearing a navy blue dress with red orbs on the tops. The symbol of alpha was sewed on in white as she hurriedly made her way towards the Vipik dump.
Raising an eyebrow, Moon quickly let Whiteout out of its pokeball, the Delta Scyther quickly flew over towards the woman and honed its blades as he skidded in front of her.
The woman froze as Moon ran up behind her. When the woman bumped into him, she turned in shock, before her lip quivered up in a sort of sinister way.
"Ah…well then…I was concerned it'd take a bit longer to find you. We were concerned you'd left."
"What do you want?" Moon grumbled.
"Well, not much, the Abyssal Cult just wants Mew, we know you have it! I overheard your little friend talking about it with you near the gym."
Moon cursed under his breath. "What is this then? An Ambush?"
"Nope, but we have your friend Damien hostage in the Vipik Dump, so if you want to go rescue him, I'd get going."
Whiteout didn't look particularly amused with the woman's snide remark, and Moon just simply returned the Delta Scyther with a grumble.
"I knew you'd see it our way, so, just follow me please."
As Moon followed the woman through the dump, he was very quick to see just how big the Abyssal cult was.
"You'd think that a cult dedicated to essentially flooding the Earth would have less people, but I guess not." Moon grumbled.
As he followed the woman to the back, he finally spotted Damien in the back, he was standing on a small island in the center of a pond that was filled with green liquid that Moon could only assume was highly corrosive.
"Sir, I found the boy." the female cultist said.
"Excellent work." The man said, "Audrey will be most pleased with us when we return to her."
As both cultists turned to face him, Moon noted that neither of them were the woman he saw back in the cave near Telnor town. So the leader was nowhere to be seen.
"Now then, I assume you made our part of the deal very clear?" The man said. "The boy gives us Mew, and we let his friend here go!"
"Don't do it Moon!" Damien squeaked. "I'm not worth it!"
"Shut up kid, though he is right…maybe we should just kill him anyway?"
"Yeah…no…" Moon grunted.
"Well then, give us Mew then." The man replied. "We here in Abyssal don't have much use for it. But one less Pixie user to worry about is one step closer to our success."
"Can't do that either…" Moon replied, with a cheeky grin. "I actually don't have Mew on me…so you guys are kind of out of luck."
Both cultists looked pissed with him.
"Fine then, if you won't give us Mew, we'll take it by force!"
"Audrey may not trust us with the good Pokemon, but we've got what we need!"
Both cultists let out two Pokemon, a blue starfish with a red gem smack in the center. As well as a happy looking angler fish with a giant light bulb for its head.
"Satanel, Weiss! Battle Stance!"
The Delta Charmeleon and Delta Gardevoir both emerged from their pokeballs and braced themselves for a fight.
"Lanturn! Use Thunderbolt!"
"Starmie! Psybeam!"
Starmie's red gem flashed as a blue beam of light shot from it, Lanturn, meanwhile, shot an electric bolt from its light ball.
Weiss moved in front of Satanel as the Thunderbolt struck her. The delta Gardevior's body glowed bright red as she charged up, before the psybeam pushed her back.
Satanel charged up a ball of dark energy before firing the ball at Starmie, the ball of energy blasted the starfish back with full power as it recovered and began to glow green.
"Not gonna happen! Shock Wave!"
Weiss blasted a wave of electricity at Starmie, which blew the starfish up in a blast of energy, the starfish fell onto the ground.
Satanel, meanwhile, charged at Lanturn and slashed at it with his shadowy claws, the angler fish also fell to the ground with swirls in its eyes.
Satanel let out a roar, before his body began to glow a bright blue light. His body began to grow in size, two thin looking fossil wings emerged from his back, and his head horn grew higher.
The blue light emerged and Satanel stomped on the ground with a heavy roar. His skeleton body was now pitch, obsidian black, his wings looked like fossilized bone wings that would be incapable of flight, his purple eyes looked evil, and his purple flame tail glowed brightly. In the center of his obsidian bone chest, there was a small purple orb glowing.
Looking at his pokedex, Moon read
Charizard (Delta Species)
The Skeleton pokemon
Type: Ghost and Dragon
Abilities: Spirit Call or Dark Aura
New Moves: Dragon Pulse, Dragon Dance, Phantom Force,
Additional Info: The flame on its tail grows in the presence of strong opponents. Its breath gives the impression of being engulfed in magma but causes no physical harm.
Moon watched as the two cultists returned their pokemon with furious looks.
"No matter, we have other ways to get Mew from you." The female cultist said. "Even if it's not with you, it's always lurking nearby."
"Alright MEW." The male cultist shouted. "Listen up, the water that this little boy is surrounded by is highly corrosive, even to Pokemon, if you don't show up, this boy's death will be in your hands!"
"Don't worry, Moon, I can take care of this."
In a flash of blue light, the light blue floating cat appeared next to Damien, who looked shocked at its arrival.
"Mew?! You…you actually came! But…you need to stay with Moon for protection!"
The two Abyssal cultists chuckled, "Pokemon like Mew are so predictable. Though…threats like this only really work if we have the keeper near us. Now then, Mew, come along with us."
"Not so fast."
Moon, along with the Abyssal cultists, watched as a weird looking hedgehog with turquoise eyes and grassy moss on its back flew down from the sky. It had two red flowers on its back and a small white body.
"Shaymin?!" Damien looked confused.
Shaymin opened its mouth as a wave of bright green light flashed through the area, in no time flat, the corrosive water surrounding Damien had vanished.
"Shit! Shaymin used its seed flare ability to purify the water!" The male cultist turned to the female. "Get the other grunts, we're leaving! We can't face two Pixie users!"
The grunts then took off, back through the dump.
Damien looked over at Shaymin. "Does…does this mean I'm also one of those special pixie users?"
The little mint hedgehog nodded its head.
"Wow! I…I never would've thought…though…I'll need to be careful. I can only use you when it's safe!"
Damien stepped into the pond and walked over to Moon as Mew floated over.
"Thanks Moon! I uh…I didn't think you'd actually come! I…I'm sorry that the cults now know we're special people, I'll have to inform Nora about it as well."
"I'm just glad you're okay." Moon replied.
"Well then…I've got some training to do to make sure this doesn't happen again! Next up is Helios City! I can't wait, maybe we can see Jaern again!" Without saying another word, Damien then took off.
Moon looked at Mew, who was holding one of Shaymin's minty pine needles.
"Well…today was eventful, but, if you come across more of that icky corrosive water, just call on me, I can use this to transform into Shaymin to help you!"
While journeying to Koril Town, the next town over. Moon took a moment to detour into a cave on the side.
"Rumor has it that archeologists have tried to look into this cave, yet they all mysteriously seem to vanish." Moon said, looking at a sign on the outside. "There are suspicious stone statues that look eerily similar to humans, however, due to the mysterious nature of the cave, nobody knows of their origin.
As he looked, he certainly spotted the statues, and man did they look eerily creepy. Almost like they were frozen stone.
He looked around for a bit more, before stumbling into the back. Where he let out a gasp.
There were stone statues of weird looking birds that each perched at the top. However, before he could look at them closer, he ducked as one of the statues turned out to be real and swooped at him.
Moon looked at it, it appeared to look like a Pidgeot, except this Pidgeot looked like some sort of fused monstrosity. It had the head and body shape of a rooster. But it also had a large snake tail with lion's fur in the back. It had cold beady eyes that made Moon uneasy.
He quickly let out his Delta Scyther, who quickly charged at the Delta Pidgeot, the Cockatrice flapped its wings as a pulse of dark energy shot from the wind. Whiteout dodged the pulse before slashing its scythes at the Cockatrice.
The weird Pidgeot dodged the move before turning as Whiteout as the Delta Scyther fired some ice shards.
The Pidgeot's eyes glowed yellow as the ice shards turned into solid stone. However, Whiteout quickly charged behind them and smashed the cockatrice into the ground.
Moon quickly tossed a Dusk Ball at the Cockatrice, and waited as it patiently dinged shut.
"Jesus…what was that?" he mumbled, looking at the pokedex of the ball he scanned.
Pidgeot (Delta Species)
The Cockatrice Pokemon.
Type: Dark and Dragon
Abilities: Intimidate, Early Bird, or Marvel Scale
Special Move: Medusa's Ray (Turns the Pokemon into a Rock Type)
Other Moves: Snarl, Foul Play, Outrage, Hurricane, Dragon Dance, Wing Attack, Roost, Glare, Whirlwind.
Additional Info: A Delta Species similar to the Pokemon Pidgeot, discovered by RuneBlad3. A living creature that looks directly into this Pokémon's eyes will be turned to stone. It breaks off very small pieces of its victims to help digest food.
"Jesus christ…what type of demonic hellscape did this thing crawl from." Moon whispered. "I guess that means that…" he looked back at the statues of humans from the cave.
"Yeah…you're definitely not getting released back into the wild. I'll figure out what to do with you later." he shivered at the thought of what this thing would've done to him if Whiteout had been defeated.
That's it for today's chapter, I know its been a bit, but I got caught up with school and shit. Regardless, we've powered through into the next part of insurgence, now the Abyssal Cult knows about Mew and friends. Damien gets Shaymin, and Satanel evolves into Delta Charizard. I typically play through Insurgence with Eevee for reason's you'll see later, so I've never given the Delta Starters much thought. So this felt like a nice time to show them off.
Also, Delta Pidgeot...not a particularly good Pokemon, Dark and Dragon is a cool type, sadly it's a generation of Fairies, and my god does Delta Pidgeot not do very well. I love that they gave it an exclusive move in Medusa's Ray, and interesting Gimmick Move, but not particularly helpful since Delta Pidgeot isn't exactly a good check to a Rock type.
It's not unusable, and it does have some pretty interesting stuff that you can use to help make it a bit better in the future. But Pidgeot's base stats can be difficult. Doesn't change that you technically get it as a Delta Pidgey at level 12, but we've got a level trainer for a reason.
Skyblazer probably won't get much time to shine, since Moon has a Dragon already with Satanel, and it's not even the last dragon you'll see on this team, but I did promise I'd show off every single Delta Pokemon you can get before the post-game. And while I know what Moon's true team of 6 will be, I'll swap them around for boss fights and stuff.
Anyway, that's about it for today's chapter, I hope you all enjoyed it!
