Chapter 29: Trading Places
Twilight was at the desktop in the computer room of CHS as she looked up some things. A cable was connected to the computer as she had a special device hooked up; the girl was looking to help expand Ash and his search for the missing zords as she was hoping to use the school's computer room to continue the scanning. Soon the door was heard opening; she quickly shut the screen off and turned around to see Rainbow slumped against the door.
"Twilight!"
"Oh, it's just you, Rainbow," said Twilight, relieved that it was her and not anybody who could walk in and see what she was doing.
The girl turned on her screen and wrote down the final data on the screen as she logged off and began to prep her backpack.
"Wait, don't leave!" said Rainbow as she stood on the table from the other side.
"Why? I gotta get this data to Ash and Rachel so we can calibrate where the next zord might be," stated the lavender-haired girl.
"Okay, look. I told Fluttershy I would go with her to the butterfly sanctuary, but now I'm regretting it," said Dash.
"So, you're gonna, how do you say it, ditch her?" stated Twilight with a disapproving look.
"I'm not ditching her; I just... suddenly lost interest," said Rainbow, trying to justify herself. "It's gonna be so boring. Maybe... you can switch with me. I'll get the data to Ash, and you can go with her."
"Sorry, Rainbow. You can't expect me to be your replacement. Why don't you ask one of the others?"
"I did! But..."
The door opened as Rainbow ducked to hide behind some chairs.
"There you are," said Fluttershy as she entered the room and saw Rainbow.
"Here I am," responded Rainbow with a fake smile as she laughed awkwardly.
"Ready to go?" asked the animal-loving girl.
"Y-Yeah," sighed Dash as she stood up with a groan and looked at Twilight for help as she smiled smugly.
"Let's go."
"Have fun," responded Twilight as Rainbow begrudgingly followed her friend.
"Thanks a lot, Twilight," responded the chromatic-haired girl as she gritted her teeth.
The pair walked down the sidewalk as Fluttershy smiled and took photos with her bunny-shaped camera. Rainbow was behind her as she had her hands in her pockets and grumbled.
"Isn't life beautiful?" said Fluttershy as she took a picture of a bird on a lamppost.
"Yeah," responded Rainbow, still bummed about doing this.
A beep then went off as it got the attention of the pair. They saw nobody else around and quickly ducked into a small passage. Once they checked around, Rainbow lifted her bracelet to speak.
"What's up?" asked Dash.
"Rainbow, there's trouble. We need you," responded Ash.
"YES!" shouted the girl as she was excited. She then looked and saw Fluttershy looking at her with a confused look, not sure why Rainbow was excited about their being in danger. "I mean, oh no. T-That's terrible. Where are you?" asked the teen rather quickly.
"Sending you coordinates," responded Ash.
"Got it. On my way. Sorry, Fluttershy. Duty calls!" yelled Rainbow as she used her superspeed to get out of there in the blink of an eye and leave her friend behind.
"Be safe," responded the animal-loving teen as she waved.
"Thank god for a monster attack," said Rainbow as she ran. "Harmony Gem, power up!" The girl morphed into her suit as she kept on running.
"Hurry, get the senator to the car!" shouted one of the bodyguards as they were running among two rows of minions as they all huddled around the senator that the monsters were sent to attack.
The bodyguards managed to get the senator into the driver's seat as he prepared to start the car. However, the monster in charge appeared on the hood as he did a handstand and looked at the senator. The monster was in a jester outfit. His face was a mix of happy and angry masks. Before he could do what he was sent to do, shots were fired at him and some of the minions in front of the car, and they all fell.
"Hey, leave them alone!" shouted Rainbow as she appeared before them with her blaster.
"Fine, I'll focus on you. Get her!" shouted the general monster named Trick.
The minions charged at Rainbow as she began to engage with the mutants. The teen flipped over a minion and blocked their punches and kicks as she kicked some off the walkway. While this was happening, the senator was grabbed as a minion got a hold of him and brought him before Trick.
"With my powers, I'll swap your mind with my minion, and we'll infiltrate your government. Ready to be swapped!" said Trick, putting his hands out.
"No, you won't!" shouted Ash as he and Sunset were shown leaping to deliver a flying kick.
The pair knocked Trick and the minion holding the senator as they pulled out their sabers and began to slice at the surrounding minions.
"Get the senator to safety!" instructed Sunset as she dodged and slashed at a minion.
"Twilight, a little help!" shouted Rainbow as the girl appeared amid the girl fighting the mutant; he grabbed her arm and spun to block Twilight's attempt.
"I'll help y'all in a second!" shouted Applejack as she dealt with her squad of minions; she dodged and threw punches that sent her opponents flying.
"We've got this!" declared Rainbow.
"No, you've got this!" said Trick as he grabbed Rainbow's arm and spun around to extend his leg backward and kick Twilight away. "Go ahead. Take the shot!"
Twilight got to a knee as she saw Rainbow struggling to escape the monster's grip as he held her in front of him as a shield.
"Rainbow, catch!" shouted Twilight as she threw her blaster.
"Right back at you, Twi!" said Rainbow as she tossed her saber at her friend.
She grabbed Twilight's blaster, aimed her hands back, and shot Trick at it, allowing her to get free. She spun and continued to fire at the mutant as he fell back.
"Guess I was wrong. Woah!" said Applejack as she saw a minion attempting to hit her out of the corner of her eye and dodged the swing. At that moment, Ash slashed the minion as he stood before Aj.
"That's all of them!" said the boy.
"Except this guy!" shouted Rainbow as she and Twilight charged.
"I wanted to swap the senator, but I guess I'll swap you two instead!" shouted Trick as he thrust his hand out.
Rainbow and Twilight stopped dead as Trick's energy beams affected them. A blue and purple aura came out of the pair briefly before switching places and going back into the girls. The rangers were knocked back as they tumbled. Rainbow and Twilight were knocked out of their powers as they landed on the grass.
"Guys!" shouted Ash.
"Time for one more trick!" said the monster as Sunset and Applejack stood over their friends.
The pair looked at the mutant before he cackled and ran as he disappeared into a portal and vanished. They powered down as they bent down to check on their friends.
"Rainbow, Twilight! You girls okay?!" said Ash, concerned for his teammates.
"I'm fine! Just dizzy!" said Twilight, but her voice sounded like Rainbow.
Ash noticed that detail as he raised an eyebrow as the pair stood up.
"If I had just dodged that monster's attack, we could've stopped him from escaping," said Rainbow, but Twilight's voice came out.
The pair dusted themselves before looking at each other. Soon it registered in their minds that they weren't in their bodies as they screamed in unison and stepped back.
"What's going on?! What's happened to me?!" screamed Twilight(Rainbow) as she looked at her arms and clothes.
"You're me!" said Rainbow(Twilight). "And I'm you. And you're me."
"Oh, this crazy!" stated Twilight(Rainbow) as she felt her face.
"Uhm, what's goin' on?" asked Applejack.
"I think it was the monster's attack," said Sunset, which was why the pair switched bodies.
"No way!" exclaimed Aj.
"Fascinating," said Rainbow(Twilight).
"Oh no! I'm an egghead! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" yelled Twilight(Rainbow) as she screamed to the heavens. Her worst nightmare came true.
The following day, the students of CHS were preparing to start their day. Twilight, or Rainbow in Twilight's body, entered through the front doors. The girl was dressed in the bookworm's clothes, with a soccer ball in her arm and one backpack strap over her shoulder.
"Hey, Scoots!" said Twilight(Rainbow) as she did her usual handshake with the CMC before walking away. The girl was confused at seeing Twilight act like this, unaware it was Rainbow.
"Look out!"
Rainbow, or Twilight in Rainbow's body, ran in the hallways as she raced. Students all moved out of the way to avoid the girl as she tried to get her feet to stop. Soon she crashed into some lockers as it stopped all her momentum. The girl slid down and lay on the floor before sitting up as stars circled her head. Everybody around her began to murmur among themselves as they did their business.
"Ow, stupid superspeed," mumbled Rainbow(Twilight).
"Hey, Twilight. Cool clothes," said Twilight(Rainbow).
"Thanks, it was the only decent thing in your closet," groaned Rainbow(Twilight) as she stood up, dusted herself, and disliked Rainbow's clothes.
"Come on, don't be like that. At least you're not stuck as an egghead."
"Don't call my body that!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight) as it got the attention of some students.
They all looked at the chromatic-haired girl as Rainbow(Twilight) smiled nervously before it ceased. She reached her locker as Twilight(Rainbow) stood beside her.
"You got just to be more confident, alright. Look, stand up straight. Smile." said Twilight(Rainbow) as Rainbow(Twilight) had an awkward smile form.
The bell then rang as it signaled the start of class.
"Rainbow, Rainbow, Rainbow!" said Rainbow(Twilight) to her friend as she kept her awkward smile.
"Come on!" said Twilight(Rainbow).
The girl sighed before closing her locker.
"Astronomy is the study of celestial objects. Planets, moons, stars, and galaxies," said Principal Celestia as she was filling in as a substitute. She changed out the transparent laminated sheet under the projector to show the next point of discussion. "Now, who knows which galaxy our solar system is in?"
The principal looked to the class for an answer as a hand shot up.
"Rainbow?" said the woman, a bit surprised to see her, of all people, raising her hand.
"Yes, Principal Celestia," said Twilight(Rainbow) as she heard the principal call her name, unaware she was referring to Rainbow(Twilight) and not her.
"The Milky Way," answered Rainbow(Twilight) at the same time as when Twilight(Rainbow) spoke.
Applejack and Sunset made a face when seeing what had happened.
"That's... correct," said Celestia, stunned to see that Rainbow knew the answer. "Twilight, did you have a question?"
"No, Principal Celestia," responded Rainbow(Twilight), which confused the woman more.
"T-Thank you, Rainbow," responded Celestia, a bit unsure.
"You're welcome," stated Twilight(Rainbow) with a cocky smile.
"R-Right, uh, okay," said Celestia as she tried to continue with her lesson.
Twilight(Rainbow) turned to look behind her to shoot a look at Rainbow(Twilight) when Celestia spoke again.
"Who knows officially how many planets are in our solar system?" asked Celestia to the class.
Nobody responded as they just sat and looked about.
"Come on, class!" said Celestia, hoping for more participation. She then noticed that Rainbow was, once again, raising her hand. "Rainbow?"
"There are eight planets, Principal Celestia," answered Rainbow(Twilight).
"That's correct. You've been studying, I see," said Celestia. "I'm impressed."
Rainbow(Twilight) smiled as Applejack and Sunset looked at each other and shook their heads. Twilight(Rainbow) was in the hallway as she was tossing her soccer ball up.
"Hey, Rainbow," said Sunset as she and Rainbow(Twilight) passed her while walking up the stairs.
"Oh, Twilight. I was wondering if you... Twilight. Twilight." said Celestia as she saw the girl walking past her office and calling out to her.
"Rainbow, Rainbow, Rainbow!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight) to get her friend's attention.
Celestia turned as Rainbow(Twilight) and Sunset all ducked behind the stair wall. The principal thought she heard something as Twilight(Rainbow) heard that and gulped before turning around to see her principal.
"Yes, Principal Celestia," said Twilight(Rainbow).
"Twilight, come on in," gestured Celestia as Twilight(Rainbow) followed her. Sunset and Rainbow(Twilight) popped out as she glared at the pair.
"Just stay calm!" said Rainbow(Twilight) to her friend so as not to let Celestia know what was happening.
With that, Twilight(Rainbow) entered Celestia's office. The girl took in the office of her principal as she looked around.
"I'm worried about you, Twilight. How come you didn't raise your hand in class today? Rainbow knew all the answers, but you didn't?" said Celestia as she found it quite odd, given how smart the bookworm was.
"You know, Principal Celestia," said Twilight(Rainbow) as she sat in the chair facing her desk. "Just between you and me. Rainbow is really smart," stated the girl with a fake smile.
"God, what is she saying to Celestia using my body?" said Rainbow(Twilight) as she was afraid of what Rainbow was saying to their principal while trying to listen in and wait for their friend.
"I thought there were nine planets," said Sunset, leaning against the wall beside the door.
"Pluto's one of several trans-Neptunian objects no longer classified as a planet. Along with Eris Cuellar and Varuna," explained Rainbow(Twilight) to her friend.
"Huh? Well, what do you know? Learn something new every day. Guess you are smart, Rainbow. I mean, Twilight." said Sunset as she forgot they were in each other's bodies. "The sooner we find a way to switch you two back, the easier it'll be on all of us."
"Yeah," said Rainbow(Twilight) as she and Sunset quietly snuck away.
"You just seemed... not yourself in class today," said Celestia to Twilight(Rainbow) as she smiled and nodded. "I just want to make sure everything is all right."
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine!" responded Twilight(Rainbow) calmly as she leaned back all cool-like.
"Alright then. Just making sure," stated Principal Celestia.
"You know, Principal Celestia. You shouldn't worry so much. It's bad for your health." said Twilight(Rainbow) as she stood and reached the door. "If you need anything, I'm here. Later!"
Celestia just nodded as she took in Twilight's... behavior.
Meanwhile...
"The senator escaped, but I did switch two rangers," stated Trick as he stood before Sombra.
"So you failed?" clarified Sombra. "And you're proud of it?"
"N-No, my lord. Well, I mean, yes. I mean, no, but..."
"Silence!" shouted Sombra as he stood up from his throne.
The general felt the panic in his voice heighten as he saw the dark lord approach him.
"Calling you an imbecile is an insult to imbeciles. I should destroy you myself," said Sombra as he pulled out his crystal sword and slashed at his general, who tumbled to the floor.
"P-P-Please, my lord!" said Trick as he begged Sombra not to destroy him.
"Pharynx! Do with him as you please!" ordered Sombra as his officer approached the mutant on his knees.
Pharynx showed his gauntlets as he looked to do his job as the group's enforcer.
"Even though you ruined our plans, you might still be of use to us," growled Pharynx as he grabbed Trick by the shoulder and stared directly into his eyes.
"Indeed. With two rangers switched, they will be easier to destroy," stated Thorax.
"Then come up with a plan to destroy those rangers!" demanded Sombra as he sat back down on his throne.
"Yes, my lord!" responded Trick.
"So, have you figured it out?" asked Twilight(Rainbow).
"No!" responded Ash as he looked at the screen with Rainbow and Twilight's vitals.
"Okay, this is gettin' too weird for me, y'all!" said Applejack.
"Yeah," nodded Sunset to confirm.
"You think this is weird? Try standing in my shoes!" expressed Twilight(Rainbow).
"Technically, those are my shoes," responded Rainbow(Twilight).
"Who cares? Just get me back into my body. I hate being stuck as an... egghead."
"I said don't call my body an egghead!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight).
Twilight(Rainbow) tried to do some kick-ups with her soccer ball, but she couldn't do it with the body she was in. Rainbow(Twilight) kicked the ball up in the air as she did it flawlessly. She was finding joy that she was the combination of both brains and athleticism. Twilight(Rainbow) glared as she didn't like her friend using her body to show off.
"Switch us back!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow).
"There's nothing we can do. The only way to switch you two back is if the monster does it himself. Or if he's destroyed." stated Rachel.
"Well, there's no chance he's gonna do it," stated Ash.
"So, we're stuck forever!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow).
"I think I could manage," said Rainbow(Twilight) as she got used to this body.
"No! You're not taking my body!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow) as she began to grab at herself.
"Rainbow, let me go!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight) as she felt her friend tugging her shirt.
"Give me my body back!" yelled Twilight(Rainbow).
"We need to figure this out quick," said Sunset as she approached Ash while Aj and the others attempted to separate the pair.
"The sooner, the better. I'm getting a headache from this," stated the boy.
Soon the alarm went off.
"This just keeps getting better and better," groaned Ash as he looked at the central computer. "What is it, Rachel?"
"Trouble. And this time, another monster." said the A.I.
"What?!" said all the teens.
The camera showed a horde of minions destroying a new general led them.
"One was bad enough; now we got to deal with another," stated Sunset.
"We'll worry about switching you two later. Come on!" said Ash as he, Sunset, and Applejack ran. Rainbow and Twilight soon broke apart as they began to chase after them.
"Harmony Gem, power up!" shouted all five as they ran and morphed.
They all slid down the pole as they landed on their cycles and pulled the throttle. They zoomed out of the hangar and secret door as they raced toward the city.
"Spread out!" shouted the officer in charge.
The minions began destroying nearby property as a few were flung back. It caught the attention of the others as charging at them were Ash and the girls.
"Stop them! We need to buy time!" said the officer as the minions began to engage with the teens.
Ash was slashing at any minions attempting to get close. He caught the arm of one of them and used it to spin around and deliver a kick to another minion before twisting the arm of the minion he held onto and slashing at another. He narrowly avoided a charge attack by the officer as he rolled to the side onto a knee.
"Who are you?" demanded the yellow ranger.
"The name's Shellshock. And my mission is to eliminate you!" said the officer.
Ash pulled out his blaster and fired. The monster put his arms together as they formed a massive shell-like shield. The boy was stunned to see his shots did nothing before quickly leaping into the air and bringing his sword down onto the shell, but it did nothing.
"Is that all?" taunted the officer, breaking his arms apart and pushing Ash and his sword before he punched the ranger, who tumbled back.
"Try again!"
Ash began to tap into his gem's power as the blade of his sword began to shine. It was enveloped in a yellow light before he swung his weapon out as a slash attack was sent forward. Shellshock put his arms back together as his shield formed and made contact with the attack. The attack stood there for a while as soon it disappeared, and Shellshock's shield stood without any damage.
"What?!" said Ash, dumbfounded that his attack didn't do anything.
"Nothing gets past my shield. It's indestructible!" declared Shellshock before his arms glowed, and he fired some razor-shell slash attacks that made contact with Ash as he tumbled back.
"Try me!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow) as she came in swinging with her saber and blaster while trying to deal some damage to Shellshock.
"Hold on, Twilight. I got your back!" said Applejack as she appeared with Twilight(Rainbow) and attempted a two-on-one attack.
"I'm Rainbow!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow) as she avoided one of Shellshock's arms and went for a slash, only to be blocked.
"Right, sorry!" said Aj, as she forgot that despite being in their ranger suits, Rainbow's mind was still in Twilight's body.
"Feeling confused, well soon you'll see what it's like to lose!" shouted Shellshock as he slammed his arms into the ground and created a shockwave.
It pushed back the two rangers as Applejack rolled along the pavement. Some minions looked to jump on her when they were shot down by Rainbow(Twilight).
"Thanks, Rainbow."
"I'm Rainbow!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow) as she was still fighting Shellshock.
"Right, sorry!" said the country girl; the swapping confused her six ways to Sunday. "Thanks, Twilight."
"No problem," said Rainbow(Twilight) as she ran to help her friend.
The pair were looking to do some damage to Shellshock as he kept blocking their attacks with his shield. The pair jumped back as they put their weapons away and had their hands charged up with power. They moved their arms about before thrusting them forward as their animal spirits emerged. The mirage-like animals charged forward as they collided with Shellshock's shell, but even then, it withstood the power of their attacks.
"No way!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow).
"My turn!" shouted Shellshock as his eyes glowed before pointing to the sky with an arm.
Lighting came crashing down as it flung both girls back.
"Defeating you is easy. I don't see how the others find it tough," stated Shellshock as he was manhandling the rangers.
"Battle Armor, Online!"
The officer turned as he saw Aj, Sunset, and Ash begin to shine. The trio touched their Morphers as their suits began to tap into the gemstones and change their appearance. Their gem-shoulder pads got bigger as they had shards of their respective gems on their knees to act as knee pads. Their chests had some crystal armor and the face of their respective zord as they donned a cape that fluttered in the wind.
"Harmony Guardian, Yellow Ranger! Warrior Mode!"
"Harmony Guardian, Red Ranger! Warrior Mode!"
"Harmony Guardian, Green Ranger! Warrior Mode!"
The trio charged ahead as they began to use their powered-up forms to make some effort.
"Get up, Rainbow! They need us," said Rainbow(Twilight).
"Just... catching my breath," stated the girl as she stood up.
The pair then charged forward, transformed into their forms, and joined their allies.
"Go ahead and try. Nothing you do will break my shell!" exclaimed Shellshock as he was surrounded and fending off the rangers.
"All together!" instructed Ash as they jumped back before thrusting their weapons.
Shellshock deflected each one as he pushed all five rangers back as they tumbled once more.
"Like I said, nothing will break my shield!" said Shellshock as he approached his fallen foes.
"Don't count on it!" shouted Ash as he got to his feet first and ran toward him.
Shellshock put his arms together as his shield formed. Ash approached it and slashed at it repeatedly to put a dent in it. All the while, the monster was holding his ground. While Ash's attack didn't do much, the boy started pushing the monster back with each of his strikes as Shellshock took some steps back. The boy was doing all he could to put a dent in the impenetrable defense of the monster, but it held strong. Shellshock pushed back the ranger as he tumbled along the ground.
"Ash!" shouted the girls as they stood over their leader.
"End of the line, rangers!" declared Shellshock.
The monster called on another lightning strike that made contact with the rangers, as an explosion occurred. They were sent flying as Rainbow(Twilight) landed in a nearby pond. The girl grunted as she got to a knee. She flung her cape from her face as she panted. The girl then looked at her hand as she saw the water running off of it. A thought ran through her head as she thought of something.
"Hey, guys. I have an idea!" instructed the ranger.
Ash was battling with Shellshock as he dodged and attacked the monster. They were dancing about as the ranger was taking steps back. The boy blocked an attack and stepped through it as he spun around and went for a strike that was blocked. As he landed on a knee, the boy spun back to avoid a lightning strike. Shellshock fired another lightning attack as Ash used his cape to protect himself.
At that moment, Applejack was shown bringing her axe down as Shellshock turned to block it. She swung wildly as the monster kept deflecting her attacks while stepping back. Sunset then appeared as she flipped over the monster and fired her bow midair. The arrows bounced off the shield.
"Now!" instructed Rainbow(Twilight).
"On it!" said Twilight(Rainbow).
The girl threw her shield as it bounced off Shellshock's and ricocheted away.
"Did you really think that would work?" taunted the mutant.
The shield traveled as it bounced off a tree and several poles along the court before heading to the small fire hydrant as the top came off, and a spray of water shot out. The small geyser sprayed Shellshock, who was soaking wet. However, the water began to affect his shell as the rock seemed to absorb and weaken its internal structure.
Ash then came in as he charged and ducked under Shellshock, attempting to clothesline him. He spun to come forward as he was bringing his sword down, just as the mutant put his arms up to create his shield. This time, when the blade made contact, it made a dent in the rigid structure as Shellshock felt it.
"What? But how?" said Shellshock as he tumbled back.
"Nothing a little science can't help," stated Rainbow(Twilight) as she looked at Twilight(Rainbow) and shared a thumbs up.
"Let's finish this!" instructed Ash.
All five rangers stood in a line as they swung their arms, holding their weapons and cracking their necks. Soon they all began to slide forward in their colored lights as they zoomed toward Shellshock.
"Sacred Aura!" shouted Twilight(Rainbow) as she slid by.
"Earthbreaker!" shouted Applejack.
"Rainbow Blitz!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight).
"Inferno Fury!" said Sunset.
"Topaz Incisor Shred!" said Ash as he began to zip all around Shellshock; he moved in the blink of an eye while slashing at the monster from all angles.
The boy slid to a halt as he stood with the girls. Behind them was Shellshock, who was letting out cries of defeat before an explosion occurred. The rangers all stood there posing as they powered down.
"No! I thought his shield was indestructible!" shouted Pharynx as he saw through the crystal ball that Shellshock was defeated.
"What's the word on Trick?" asked Starlight.
"He's in position," said Thorax.
"Then let's hope he can carry out his part," said Chrysalis.
"Now, let's get to swapping," said the monster as he managed to infiltrate city hall as there was Mayor Mare and her council. The monster was looking to swap their minds with their minions to gain access to their government.
The officer began to have his arms stretch out as it looked to do its plan. However, at that moment, bursting through the window was Ash as he had his saber and blaster in his hands. He aimed his blaster at the back of the officer, who fell forward. Before the minions could attack the boy, they were shot down by the girls, who all entered through the door from climbing the building.
"Rangers!?" said Trick as Ash grabbed him and took them out of the building; the boy rolled to his feet as the monster landed on his back.
From there, the swarm of minions began to engage with the teens.
"You're gonna switch us back!" demanded Twilight(Rainbow) as she and Rainbow(Twilight) were fighting him.
"Fat chance!" said Trick as he was blocking and evading the girl's attacks.
Rainbow(Twilight) went for a strike with her saber as Trick caught her weapon and delivered a kick to her midsection to get her to back off.
"Rainbow, catch!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight) as she threw her blaster.
"Here you go!" responded Twilight(Rainbow) as she threw her saber at her friend.
Both caught it as Twilight(Rainbow) aimed behind her without looking and hit Trick.
"Twice the power!" shouted Rainbow(Twilight) as she came in and used both sabers to slash at the monster.
Trick began to chase Twilight(Rainbow) on a beam with Rainbow(Twilight) behind them. Twilight(Rainbow) ran up a column and did a backflip while shooting at the mutant, who turned as he took the shots to the chest. Rainbow(Twilight) then spun her hands as she twirled the dual sabers before bringing them down and slashing at Trick, causing an explosion.
"Let's finish this!" said both girls.
The pair were shown as Twilight(Rainbow) was kneeled in front of Rainbow(Twilight), who was spinning the sabers. Twilight(Rainbow) then stood up as she aimed both blasters and fired, followed by Rainbow(Twilight) swinging both sabers down as they shot forward in a slash attack that encompassed the shots fired by her friend to give it more power. They sailed forward as they made contact with Trick; the mutant let out a cry of defeat before being consumed by the explosion as all that was left was rubble.
"Alright, we did it!" expressed Twilight(Rainbow) as she jumped excitedly.
At that moment, both felt something as the auras inside of them appeared before being sucked into the other. They groaned as they looked at each other before expressing some happy sounds.
"Yes! I got my brain back!" said Twilight.
"I'm no longer an egghead!" yelled Rainbow as she screamed to the heavens that her worst nightmare was over.
"I'm gonna let that one slide," stated the bookworm as she was just happy to regain her old body.
Soon the others all came up to them as they congratulated the pair on defeating Trick and restoring themselves to normal. After defeating the monster, the rangers were all walking in the park as they were glad to be done with this weird adventure finally.
"So how did you figure out how to break Shellshock's shield?" asked Applejack to Twilight.
"Easy. Erosion. Water breaks down even the toughest of rocks. So I assumed that being hit with a high volume of water would weaken the density structure and allow us to pierce it."
"I gotta admit, it was pretty cool looking at things from your perspective, Twilight. But I'm glad to be back in my old self," said Rainbow.
"Same here. It was kinda nice to have both athleticism and intelligence, but I think I'm good with books for the rest of my life," responded Twilight.
"Well, at least this is over. I couldn't stand another minute of you two being in each other's bodies," said Sunset.
"You know we have a big test tomorrow for astronomy," said Applejack as Rainbow's eyes widened.
"Twilight, you gotta help me! Just change your hair color and put on my clothes. Take my test for me!" said the girl, looking for a way to get out of taking the test.
"Sorry, but I'm not Rainbow Dash anymore. I'm Twilight Sparkle," smiled the girl as she walked forward with a smug smile.
The others cackled as they followed her, leaving Rainbow on her knees.
"Why couldn't we wait until after the test?!" yelled the chromatic-haired girl as she screamed to the heavens.
Author's Note: Talk about a Freaky Friday experience. If anything, it looks like Twilight got the better deal of the swapping. The perfect combination of brawn and brains.
