First Day of School
Throughout the years Spirit would get a sharper and stronger mind by meditating, keeping healthy and exercising. She grew in both her mental fortitude and her power. She learned how to control her powers so that the ability would not come through in the world around her and give her ability away. On the day where her parents would see her off to Jade Mountain Academy she seemed to be able to control her powers fully when she demonstrated for her parents.
Spirit was sitting in the middle of their kitchen holding her talons as if she was holding a melon, her claws inches apart. Four small wisps of color floated in a spherical movement, one of blue, one of white, one of red and one of green. Her parents in the doorway as they watched fruits peel themselves, meat be cooked by a floating flame, and cups being filled with ice and water for cool refreshments. Once the food and refreshments were placed on the table she opened her eyes as the four wisps dissipated. "Very impressive how far you've come with your gift." Qibli said with a smile as they sat to eat together.
"Thanks Father." Spirit said before rubbing her head, one of the drawbacks for her ability was the more she used it the worse the headache she received from using her git. The other drawback was the more he used it the more energy she used which was why she needed to stay healthy and rested. "I'm excited to go to Jade Mountain Academy. I was hoping to study about other tribes and what better place than a school dedicated to doing so?" She shook away the headache as she dug into her food.
"That's true," Moonwatcher said. "It's also where I met your father." She added with a smile. "Really?" Spirit said with a smile. "Maybe I'll meet my soulmate there as well!" Spirit giggled as they ate.
~~~Once they arrive at Jade Mountain.~~~
"Have fun here Spirit and remember-" Moon began. "Yeah, yeah I know! Don't tell anyone about my gift." Spirit cut her mother off before hugging both her parents. "I'll write I promise!" Spirit called as she ran forwards to the mountain opening. "She is a lot more outgoing than you were when you were first here." Qibli teased Moon as Moonwatcher swatted him with her wing playfully. Spirit ended up running straight into a Nightwing, causing her to drop the scroll she was holding. "OH!! I'm sorry, let me help you up!" Spirit said apologetically as she helped up Fatespeaker.
"It's quite alright its good to see that you are energetic." Fatespeaker laughed. "Your Spirit right?" she asked with a mysterious smile. "Yeah I am, how'd you know?" Spirit giggled, wondering if Fatespeaker had mindreading as Spirit had noticed her silver teardrop scales. "Some dragons say i have mind reading abilities." She said with a wink. "BUT?" Spirit giggled.
"But unfortunately I don't. It turns out I have emotion sensing and weak foresight." Fatespeaker said with a shrug. "I knew you were Spirit Because you're the only sandwing/nightwing hybrid this year." Fatespeaker said with a smile.
"You can sense emotions? That's awesome! You have a unique gift you should be proud of!" Spirit said with a wide smile. "I am." Fatespeaker said with a chuckle. "I don't mind it's only emotions since as you say its unique and i'm proud to be unique." Fatespeaker said with a smile. "Your in the Jade winglet your cave is in the second tunnel on the right third tunnel on the left."
"Thanks Fatespeaker! I'll see you around!" Spirit quickly walked off to find her cave, looking around at the decor and even a giant mural that was painted of the dragonets of destiny who founded the school. "Amazing!" She smiled as she headed into her cave. Spirit noticed three beds, a hammock, a cold stone slab and moss bed. She decided to wait for her classmates to see what bed they wanted.
Spirit looked through the scrolls that were available and picked out one on meditation and how to keep a healthy mental state. Now that the war was over there was new studies on science, psychology, cutlery, blacksmithing and even art. She began to read through the scroll when a cold voice from behind her said. "UGH i'm sharing a cave with a HYBRID??"
Spirit turned around to look at the icewing princess. "Oh hello you must be princess Snow Storm it's nice to-'' Spirit held her talon out to Shake talons with the Princess but her talon was smacked away by the grumpy icewing. "Don't you dare try and become friends with me! Don't even talk to me!" Snowstorm hissed angrily before walking to the stone slab and lying down on it, her back turned to the confused hybrid.
"I…. ok??" Spirit said not bothering to turn to the princess as her other climate walked inside the room. She was a Nightwing who was a head shorter than Spirit and two heads shorter than the icewing princess. "Oh hello! My name Spirit who are you?" Spirit lifted her talon again and this time the dragoness shook her talon. "Hi my name is FutureSeer."
FutureSeer was quiet showing she was a bit shy but Spirit didn't seem bothered. "Do you want the moss bed or the hammock?" Spirit stepped aside so her nightwing companion could get into the room a bit better. Once FutureSeer looked between them for a moment she selected the moss bed. "Sounds good. I have a feeling the princess over there is a bit angry at the moment so why don't we go explore the mountain?" Spirit offered FutureSeer.
The shy nightwing nodded with a small smile as the icewing princess huffed in annoyance. "Yeah, let's go!" Spirit grinned and walked out first before being followed by her newfound friend. "Should we head to the library first?" Spirit asked. "Yeah let's go there, we need to get stamps to check out scrolls anyway." Futureseer said with a nod before adding. "I really like your scales, they are amazing in the patterns they make."
Spirit smiled at Futureseer, "Why thank you I've always enjoyed my scales making me look unique like this. I find it helps me explore my creative side since I don't get held back by being different from others." Spirit laughed. Futureseer giggled at her confidence. "That's nice, I wish I could be as confident as you are."
"Oh I'm sure you can. It just takes the right mental attitude. I can teach you if you want." Spirit grinned as they walked into the library. "Hello Spirit, and hello Futureseer." The blind nightwing librarian looked up as they walked in. "Hey Father, how'd you know it was us?" Futureseer hugged her father gently so as to not to startle him. "Well I'll always recognize how my daughter walks and I recognized Spirits voice from when I've met her previously." Starflight explained.
"Hi Starflight, how are you feeling today?" Spirit asked. "I'm doing fine, you don't need to keep asking me in that way. I know you like meditation and it can help with sadness but I'm really happy in my life at the moment. You can ask me how I am but please no more feeling questions." Starflight said with a smile in her voice's direction.
"Rights, sorry force of habit I suppose." Spirit laughed nervously, scratching the back of her neck awkwardly. "It's quite alright. I know you just wish to help. Oh! Here are your library stamps and a pouch to keep them in." he shuffled under his desk and handed them both the stamps with their respective names on them as well as a pouch to hold them in.
"Thanks Father." Futureseer said with a smile, kissing his cheek as the dragonets took their objects. "I know it's the first day but I hope you two will attempt to be friends with Snowstorm. She can be a bit of a grouch but we believe this school will be good for her. Her mother, Queen Snowfall, wants her daughter to change their tribe for the better. Completely different from the previous icewings queens." Starflight said. That's why we wanted her to be in your cave with you both being nice and caring dragons. You're the best hope for her to open up and be willing to change the way icewings will be in the future."
"Well I would be happy to help from what I remember Winter telling me about his childhood. I would want them to be raised better." Spirit said with a nod. "She will need to get over the fact that I'm a hybrid though." Spirit shrugged.
"Yes but she will get over it, I'm sure." Starflight smiled again. "Thank you both for being willing to help her."
"Of course Father I would love to help her, we just have to wait for her to open up to us." Futureseer said with a nod. "But we will help her no matter what." Starflight nodded and hugged his daughter before waving them as they left for the art cave. Spirit began to paint a mural of the rainforest while Future Seer painted a brightest night mural.
In their cave
Princess Snowstorm was growling to herself angrily. "A hybrid?! Of all things WHY did it have to be a HYBRID?!" she wasn't scared of them but she always felt uncomfortable around them for some reason. She didn't dislike them either but she wanted to stay as far away from them as much as possible….. Maybe though… maybe this hybrid could help her through her uncomfortableness….maybe….
