Luz and Lucila sat there in silence, both of them still processing what they heard. All of them looked at each other for what felt like an eternity. None of them knew what to even say to each other anymore. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa," Luz finally spoke up as she waved her hands. "Prince?! You're the prince?" She exclaimed in disbelief. "...And yet you locked me up? That's not princely behavior, just saying. So if you wanna just reconsider and let both of us go..."
Lucila facepalmed at this, groaning to herself. Of course only Luz would say that... "I don't think that'll convince anyone, let alone him..."
"I don't need a lecture," He growled while looking away. "I already get those from-"
The door slammed open and they all turned to the door down the hallway. Eda emerged out of the shadows, to the shock of the girls. "Hunter Wittebane, we're having words whether you like it or not!"
"Eda?" The two sisters murmured as she jumped over to them, looking angry.
"So nice of you to join us, Eda," Hunter rolled his eyes, crossing his arms. "Interesting you weren't present when I found our intruders," He jerked his head over to the girls.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm a busy feather duster, but not enough that I didn't hear what you did! If you don't release them both, so help me when I turn back to normal, I am turning you into a toad!" She threatened while looking up at him.
"Eda!" The two girls cried out happily and she smiled, hopping over to them.
"Oh, I missed you girls so much. If I could, I'd hug you both to death."
"Doesn't mean we won't try!" Luz picked her up and hugged her tight. Eda coughed a bit since she could feel more than if she were her normal self. "We've been looking for you and the others for weeks! I can't believe you're alive!" She cried out in tears. Lucila gently loosened Luz's arms so that Eda could actually breathe. Hunter just narrowed his eyes while watching the three unite, his blue cold eyes barring into them.
"What happened to you and the others? Have you been here all this time?" Lucila wondered to the feather duster.
"Well...it's a long story, girls. I'll tell you all about it when he lets you two go," Eda glared up at Hunter, who grunted.
"I'm not letting either of them run out of here after knowing the truth. And you know why I can't just pretend either," He denied while closing his eyes. Eda growled angrily up at him.
"Well, I think it's bunk! I know these two, we can trust them!"
"What is he talking about?" Luz wondered and she turned to the two.
"He doesn't want word getting out that he's still alive because-"
"Because nothing!" Hunter took Eda and pulled her away from them, to their horror. "However, we haven't finished discussing our deal," He looked at Lucila specifically. "You still up for it even after everything?"
"Deal? What deal?!" Eda demanded while struggling from his grip. "You tell me what's going on-"
"No deal!" Luz shouted up at Hunter angrily while holding onto Lucila. "I'm not letting her go through with this!" She hugged her sister tight, not wanting the older girl to sacrifice her life. Luz could just find another way out of it, while Lucila could leave and never return. Lucila glanced back between Hunter and her sister. She took a deep breath while standing up. Luz looked up a bit fearfully. She stepped closer while closing her eyes, the prince eyeing her closely.
"...You have a deal," She answered in a broken voice.
"No!" Luz cried out, but was ignored.
"Then it's settled," He stormed past the girl, who fell to the ground in despair. She just gave up her own life to be in this castle with him...for probably until her death. Eda looked between the two sisters, still confused on what was going on. Hunter unlocked the door, Luz rushing over to her sister immediately.
"Luci, please don't do this. I'm young and dumb, I don't need to go to Hexside! Just don't stay with him!" She grabbed her sister's arms, and Lucila squeezed her eyes shut sadly. She couldn't look at Luz's face right now because she didn't want Luz to try and convince her. The girl faltered as she realized that Lucila was serious about her decision. Hunter grabbed Luz by the back of her collar. "NO!" Luz pleaded as the two sisters had to forcibly let go of each other. Hunter tossed Lucila into the cell and locked the door. "Don't let him do this, we could take this guy!" She grunted as she struggled and Lucila looked up, tears streaming down her face as she looked at her sister for possibly the last time. "Hermana, we're supposed to be in this together! LUCI!"
"Let her go, you beat-up blond!" Eda shouted while trying to break free. "This is bunk!"
Lucila continued crying as she covered her eyes with her hands, her heart sinking. She couldn't watch this...she just couldn't.
Luz tried to use an ice glyph, but Hunter held up a thorny arm. The ice went around his arm, but then he hit the wall, breaking it into pieces. He dragged her down the hall and then out into the rain. He grabbed a staff nearby that was golden at the top and had a red tip. Luz looked up while struggling and he waved the staff to create a shield around Melody. She chirped in alarm as she was forced into staff mode thanks to his spell.
"I'm not letting you keep my sister, don't listen to her! It's me you want," Luz tried to reason with him, but he ignored her. "Please! And let the others go too! They're the only family I have."
"Stop being such a tyrant and listen to them!" Eda growled, wishing she could actually physically do something.
"Don't worry about them, and your sister stays here," He growled while placing her on the staff. "Go home, human. Forget that you even came here," He pushed the staff out into the sky and Melody flew off.
"No, go back! Melody, please!" Luz protested, but the palisman couldn't go anywhere except forward. "Us good, him bad! You know that!" Unfortunately, it was like Melody was inclined to head straight back home as her eyes glowed the same color as Hunter.
Lucila looked out the window of the jail cell, her mouth covered with her hand. She let silent tears fall down her face as she could only watch Luz fly away. She prayed that her sister would stay safe and would get better. She then continued crying while sitting in the cell, her head down.
Hunter came back up the stairs on the way to the Conformatorium. "Hunter," Raine spoke up nearby, having witnessed the whole thing. Hunter put down Eda next to Raine, and the former witch looked furious with him.
"What do you want?"
"U-um," They stammered nervously from Hunter's defensive tone, adjusting their glasses. "Since Luci is...going to be here now, I was thinking that you might want to offer her a more comfortable room-" Hunter sliced the air right above Raine, who flinched. A few strands of hair fell from their head and near Eda. "...On second thought, never mind," They said meekly as Hunter walked past them.
"Don't bother, Rainestorm. He's just too busy being a hypocrite!" Eda yelled down as they watched him leave. "At least I got to see Luz again, but I'm not gonna stop trying to get her back," She narrowed her eyes at Hunter's back.
Lucila was looking towards the ground, still crying silently over the way Luz left. A shadow came closer to the cell and she looked up. She saw Hunter himself staring at her. And the look in his eyes, they felt so cold to her, so uninviting. "You didn't even let me say goodbye," She said in a broken voice. "I'll never see my sister ever again. She's all I had as a family..." She sniffled and he faltered. "I didn't get to say goodbye..."
He continued staring at her, knowing that if he left her there, she'd be miserable. And yes, he had guests before, but this was entirely different since...this would be an actual home for her now. Maybe he was overthinking it, maybe not, but...there was something about her that stuck out to him, that...well, made him rethink just a little bit over how he handled Luz. He sighed in defeat, since the guilt was eating at him and he didn't want to feel it anymore.
It wasn't like he had much to feel to begin with.
"Come with me," He pulled the lever to release her and she looked up as the gates lifted up to undo the gap between them.
"...What?" She finally asked after a few seconds, wondering if he was gonna put her back in later. "W-Why?"
"Because I'm showing you to your bedroom."
"Bedroom?" She sniffled while wiping her face with the back of her hand. "Since when do you give prisoners a bedroom? I thought-"
"Unless you wanna stay here in the Conformatorium, where I was forced to put in wild witches like yourself," He growled as he interrupted her and she clamped her mouth shut. She gripped her cloak tighter as there was a tense silence between them. The two stared at each other for what felt like hours. He cleared his throat and turned away. "Sorry, it's...it's not important. Follow me."
She slowly stood up, still clenching her cloak as she followed. She glanced around the empty, golden hallways, looking at all the portraits. There were some griffin statues as well, but the way they were surrounded by only a bit of light freaked her out. And the portraits themselves were all covered up for some reason. She stopped as one portrait in particular wasn't covered. It was all scratched out, to the point where she could barely make it out. She glanced between his claws and the portraits before hurrying after him. This place was already giving her dread, and she had only been in the halls for a minute. All that could be heard were their footsteps echoing because that was how tense it was between Hunter and Lucila. She glanced up and tried to make out the paintings behind the portraits, but the sheets were blue, so she couldn't tell. What she could tell was that this place...this place just seemed to be very negative, and she didn't know why.
Hunter glanced back curiously to see the girl silently shedding tears, her eyes closed. He felt a bit awkward, since he knew that she was still thinking about Luz. "Don't just leave her like this," Raine whispered to him.
"But she-"
"Do it."
"I-"
"Tell her something nice!" Raine hissed during their small whisper fight. Hunter grunted and then cleared his throat.
"I, um...I hope you enjoy your stay," He spoke up quietly and she didn't respond. He glanced back to Raine, who gestured for him to keep going. "This...castle is your home now, so you can explore all you want, except for the throne room."
"What's in the throne-"
"It's forbidden!" He snapped so loudly that his voice echoed and she faltered, panting erratically. She clutched her shirt underneath her cloak while staring at him. He could see the look of terror from her face and he clamped his mouth shut. He could tell that she needed a moment as she gripped onto a door handle nearby. Raine cleared their throat, gesturing to move away from Lucila. Hunter did so, staring at the candelabra in confusion.
"You shouldn't be yelling at her like that," Raine whispered to Hunter, who gave a blank look.
"I know how to be respectful, but that room...that room is..." He didn't finish his sentence, looking away.
"Not that...well, partially that, but Luci suffers from panic attacks," They informed Hunter, who glanced behind his back with wide eyes. Lucila was attempting to calm down, kneeling over and looking towards the ground. "She doesn't get them a lot because Luz knows not to panic her too much. It's been like that ever since her mother disappeared, so...try to not scare her with your tone, please."
"...I understand," Hunter cleared his throat and went back to Lucila. She let out a small sigh and stood up, sniffling. "...Are you...are you all better now?" He asked slowly and awkwardly since...he took her sister away not too long ago.
"I'll be fine," If she was put off by his question, she definitely didn't show it. She stood back up and they continued down the ominous halls. They continued until he reached a room with two grand golden doors. He opened one and she stepped in quietly.
"Now, if you'd like anything, even some medicine-"
"I'd prefer it if you didn't treat me like I'm a charity case," She interrupted thinly, not looking back at him and he huffed a bit from being interrupted. He gripped the doorknob as her pushback, while unexpected, was annoying him.
"Fine! My servants, who you're already familiar with, will tend to you."
"Dinner," Raine whispered in his ear. "Invite her to dinner, you need to clear the air."
"...You and I are having dinner together," He said with a small growl and she flinched. "That's an order!" He slammed the door and she turned around as it closed, gripping the wood. She let out a gasp, turning around and flinging herself to the bed. She started crying again, not only at her situation, but also in worry for her sister...
Angel: I'm getting a lot of people pointing out that Lucila looks a lot like Hailey from Hailey's On It, and I can see the resemblance lol but I doubt that anyone from Disney has read my Owl House story.
Love how they said Lucy or Luci in Thanks to Them and Hailey looks so much like Lucila. I honestly think it's just coincidence but it still is pretty funny. Not to mention that both of their voice actresses are singers since it's the voice actresses of Moana and Aimee Carrero. And both of them have 6 letters in their names XDD I've seen the show by the way, it's good but I've only seen like 3 episodes so far.
I'm kinda wishing someone would draw both Hailey and Lucila side by side just to see the comparisons. Also I'm sorry it took forever to upload, I've got a new job, so I've been adjusting to working 8 hours a day from 8:30 to 5:30.
