Sorry the last chapter was short! I'll try to make this one longer!
One by one, all the Reagans got to the hospital. Frank was the last one. He entered a room where everyone was, including Danny.
"Are you alright son?"
"I'm fine. It's just a scratch." Danny said as he tried to sit up.
"Like hell it is. You still have to go through surgery to get the bullet out and you call it a scratch?"
"She's right Danny." Jamie agreed.
"Oh come on. Show some mercy here. I'm not dying or anything."
"You could become not likely detective." Frank said as he approached.
"How could I become not likely if I'm still alive?"
"Someone could come by and finish the job. Now, take it easy. Your not going anywhere."
"Dad--" He began. "I still have a case to finish."
"You can finish it from here after surgery."
"What are we waiting for anyway? Why isn't he in the OR?" Jamie asked.
"Still waiting for a surgeon to come in. He should be on his way." Linda said.
"And let me guess, the others are busy."
He slowly tried to get up again but stopped when he felt the pain in his back. He took a deep breath. "I'm fine." He mumbled quietly.
After 20 minutes, Danny was finally taken to surgery. Baez had made her appearance at the hospital and Frank gave her the assignment of finding out who tried to hurt his son. She agreed and went down to his house.
After entering, she immediately saw the hole in the window. She remembered what Linda said about some pictures Danny was looking at before getting shot.
Baez made her way to the computer and logged in using Danny's login and the first thing that came up were pictures from an email. She looked at picture after picture of the Reagan home and all the family members but most of them were zeroed in on Danny and his family.
She pulled out her phone and called her boss.
"Sarge, I think we need a protective detail on the Reagan family. No. There are pictures that were sent to Danny. Yes. I know he won't like it. Okay great. Thanks." She hung up and walked out the door again.
This chapter isn't that much longer but it's getting there. Hope you liked it.
