After surgery, Danny was once again surrounded by his family. When he finally woke up, everyone was just talking, not really paying attention. Then, he spoke:
"What the hell is this?"
"Dad!" Sean yelled and everyone turned their heads making Danny feel uncomfortable.
"Hey kiddo."
"Hey big brother." Erin said. "Good to see you back."
"What do you mean? I didn't go anywhere."
"I meant it's good to see you awake."
He smiled for a second. "Likewise. Why is everyone here anyways? Shouldn't you all be working on cases or something?"
"We are. You." Baez said as she came into view.
"I. Am. Fine."
"No. You. Got. Shot."
"If I'm not dead, I'm fine."
"Why can't you just be a normal human being and accept the fact that you got shot?"
Danny opened his mouth to say something but quickly shut it.
"Now, let me do my job detective and ask you a few questions."
"Okay fine. As long as everyone else gets back to work. Including Linda."
"You heard him everyone! Out." Baez said.
After saying goodbye, they left one by one until it was just the two detectives.
"What the hell happened Reagan?" She began.
"I don't know. And I'm pretty sure you went to my house. So, what did ya find?"
"Your email was pulled up on your computer. Can you take a guess on what I found?"
"Pictures. I know."
"You know what that means don't you?"
Danny glared at her with a disapproving look. "No. No way. I decline any sort of protective detail on me."
"Reagan..." She pleaded.
"Baez..." He mocked.
"Your getting it whether you like it or not. Now, back to the questioning. Do you have any idea who might do this to you?"
"If I knew, don't you think I would give you that information?" He said, annoyed.
"You know I have to ask this. We ask it all the time to victims."
"But I hate it when your the one questioning me about something I know nothing about."
"What was the last thing you remember besides the emails? What were you doing?"
Danny had to think about what he was doing prior to going to his computer. His head was still fuzzy from having just woken up.
"Um...hold on a second. I need a moment to remember."
"Take your time."
Danny closed his eyes and thought long and hard. He remembered getting home about 10pm and staying up until late but couldn't remember why he stayed up since he never brought cases home with him.
"I don't remember. I stayed up late I guess. But I can't remember why."
"I talked to Linda about that. She said you were worked up over a case we were on."
"Oh." He said quietly. "My head is still foggy. I don't even remember getting shot."
"Okay. You know what I'm going to do?"
"What?"
"I'm going to do two things actually. Get a detail on you and your family at all times, and then I'm going to go through every case you went through in all the 13 years you've been a cop."
