"Hello detective."
"Wilder."
"Remember when I said I would always be in your head? You thought I died in that bombing on my boat, you shoot me and think you killed me. Now you had to find out the hard way that I'm still alive. I left that finger print just for you to find."
"Screw you."
Im not the one that's screwed here. I know your every move. Where you go, what time your family leaves, where your kids go after school."
"I will find you this time I will make sure your dead. You hear me??"
"Dad? What's going on?" Jack asked as he walked into the same room Danny was in.
"Go back upstairs and do not come down until I tell you."
Jack knew the tone he was using meant he was serious so he made his way back upstairs. Danny was about to say something else into the phone but Wilder hung up before he could.
He threw his phone next to him on the couch.
Linda walked through the door and she saw a couple backpacks at the door and Danny was bringing in his.
"Danny, what is this?"
"We are going to stay at Dad's for a few days. It's for our protection."
"What's going on?"
"I don't want to worry you. As of right now, the only safe place is at my grandfather's."
"We can't do this in the morning? It's 1am."
"I know what time it is. The sooner we go, the better. Dad's expecting us. I already packed stuff for you too so you don't need to worry."
"Come on. Call your dad. Tell him we'll be there tomorrow morning. You don't wanna wake the kids up do you?"
Danny sighed. "No. Alright. Go to bed. I'll be up there in a minute."
"Hey, don't tell me to go to bed. I'll stay up as long as you stay up."
"Why? You saw what happened last time I stayed up this late."
"What if it happened again? This time while I was asleep?"
"Okay. I get it."
The next morning, Danny woke up to his phone ringing.
"Detective Reagan." He said. "What? Geez...how many did you find? Okay...I'll be there shortly...Baez listen...I'm not sitting this one out...I didn't last time and I'm not doing it this time...Okay...I'll see you shortly."
He hung up the phone and slowly got out of bed trying to fight off the pain in his back from where he got shot.
"If you shoot me and I'm armed, it was self defense...I'll always be in your head detective..."
He got dressed and left the house to go to a crime scene. When he arrived, there were two bodies matching the MO of Wilder.
"Hey Reagan!" Baez called.
He approached and she handed him something.
"This was on the first vic we found. It's a note addressed to you."
He put gloves on and slowly opened it up.
"I'm closer to home than you think"
"So, what? He's just taunting me. That's normal for this maniac."
"Watch what you say. There could be cameras around. You don't want to aggravate him more."
At Sunday dinner, it was eerily quiet. It was like that for a while until Henry broke the silence.
He cleared his throat. "So, how's everyone's day going?"
Danny looked over at him and shook his head without saying anything.
"Everything's great considering." Frank responded.
"Does no body want to talk about what's really bothering everyone?" Nikki asked.
"No." Danny immediately said. "We're not talking about that. Leave it alone."
"Daniel, calm down." Erin said.
"Ooh. I'm in big trouble with little sis." He said sarcastically.
Before the soon to be argument would get out of hand, Frank put a stop to it. "Okay you two. Your not five."
"I'm sorry Uncle Danny. Didn't mean to make you mad." Nikki said.
"It's fine. I'm not mad at you. If anything, I'm mad at myself."
"Why?" Sean asked.
"Because Thomas Wilder isn't dead." Then, his phone rang. "Excuse me. I gotta take this." He said getting up from the table.
He walked outside and answered the call. "Reagan."
"Afternoon detective. Hope I wasn't interrupting your Sunday dinner with family."
"What do you want now?"
"You. But until then, I think I'll continue going after young, beautiful women. Want to meet one?"
"Excuse me?"
He heard shuffling around on the other end.
"Say hello to Detective Reagan. He won't be here to help you."
Danny heard screams and begging for help.
"Hear that? If I kill her now, it would be victim 26. If I keep her alive, then it would be to trade. You for her. You have one hour to decide."
"I've already decided. Let her go."
