9. Hunting Season

Danny Phantom Forever

Before you read: This chapter will have some similarities to "Life Lessons". It will also be a nod to "D-Stabilized".

Hunting Season

It was a bright and sunny day at Casper High and all was happy and peaceful as the students had just been let out of school. Danny, Tucker, and Sam walked out of the school doors and down the steps with relaxed smiles on their faces.

They walked toward the sidewalk while Danny smiled and sniffed the air as he happily said, "Ah… The sweet smell of freedom."

Suddenly they were surrounded by a bunch of other kids, among them was Dash, who happily said, "Hey Fenton, great job yesterday!"

Kwan smiled excitedly as he punched the air three times while saying, "Yeah! You really wailed on that ghost!"

Danny smiled modestly as he said, "Thanks guys, but it was just the Box Ghost. No big deal."

Dash smiled as he pointed at Danny and said, "It is a big deal 'cause you're awesome!"

Star walked up next to Tucker and smiled at him flirtatiously as she said, "Just like you, Mayor Foley. Wanna go to the mall with me? I saw this top on sale that I think would look great on me, and I'd really appreciate if some boy gave it to me as a gift."

Tucker smiled arrogantly before he raised his finger with a solemn expression as he said, "Thanks Star. I knew you couldn't resist my rugged good looks. But I'm spoken for now. Valerie's the only girl for me, and she's the only girl I buy gifts for."

Star angrily clinched her fists and stomped her foot as she glared into space with a vexed expression.

Paulina walked up to Danny with her hands together as she flashed a dreamy smile and said, "You're so heroic Danny. You're the coolest boy ever."

Danny was flattered as he said, "Thanks Paulina."

Sam came and shoved Danny aside as she shot Paulina a death glare and pointed her finger as she said, "Back off Paulina! He's MY boyfriend!"

Paulina glared at Sam as she spitefully said, "I don't know why he wastes his time on you when he can have me."
Sam put her hands on her hips as she retorted, "Maybe because I'm not a shallow little witch."

Paulina pointed at Sam as she angrily replied, "Well he was into me way before you, goth geek!"

Sam clinched her fists and pointed her left thumb at herself as she asserted, "You never liked him until you learned his secret! I knew his secret long before you did!"

As the two girls continued to argue the others watched and started to show worried expressions as tensions grew.

Sam and Paulina stared each other in the face as Paulina said, "I would be a better girlfriend than you!"

They both gritted their teeth as Sam furiously said, "Oh you think so?!"

Danny quickly stepped between them and pushed them apart as he said, "Whoa! Take it easy! There's no need to start a fight!"

Suddenly they all heard a familiar voice whine and say, "Aww come on Danny. Let them fight."

They all looked to see Danielle floating above the street in her ghost form, she smiled and pointed at Sam as she said, "My money's on Sam."

Dash smiled happily as he pointed at Danielle and exclaimed, "Hey look! It's Fenton's little sister and sidekick!"

Danielle smiled proudly as she folded her arms and said, "That's Dani Phantom. 'Dani' with an 'I'."

Danny held his right palm up as he curiously asked, "Dani, what are you doing here?"

She looked at Danny and smiled competitively as she said, "I came to see if you wanted to race home."

The other kids gasped in excitement and looked at Danny as they repeatedly and simultaneously chanted the word "race".

Danny glanced at them before smiling competitively at Danielle and said, "Okay, you're on."

Danielle floated in the air as she anxiously said, "Yes! Get ready to eat my-"

She was interrupted when a green ray suddenly hit her and blasted her into a nearby tree as she cried in pain.

The other kids cried in shock as Danny showed concern and exclaimed, "Dani!"

Danielle sat up and gasped as she saw Skulker floating in front of her with a large weapon coming out of his left forearm.

Danny glared at Skulker as he demanded, "Skulker! Get away from her! I'm going-"

He was interrupted when Skulker threw a glowing metal sphere at him from his right hand, four cables came out of the sphere and wrapped around Danny. The device restrained Danny and prevented him from going ghost as he gasped in shock and grunted as he struggled. Skulker smiled evilly as he looked back at Danielle, who came flying toward him, but he fired a ray from the weapon on his left forearm again. Danielle cried in pain as the ray hit her and knocked her to the ground again, and she looked weak as she desperately tried to get up. Skulker then created a blue orb of light in his right hand and threw it at Danielle, and it trapped her in a box of glowing blue energy.

Skulker retracted the weapon in his left forearm and picked up the box with Danielle inside as he said, "All too easy."

Danny watched in terror as he shouted, "No!"

Skulker floated over to Danny as he said, "If you want your sister back you will come to me in my lair, without your little friends."

He activated his wings and flew away with Danielle in the blue energy box as everyone watched in with fear.

Opening theme

The title card was shown while music played in the background; the title card was an image of Skulker smiling evilly with a wall behind him. Danny, Danielle, and Valerie's heads were mounted on plaques on the wall and the three of them had their mouths wide open as they stared forward in terror.

Danny watched Skulker fly away with Danielle and then struggled as he said, "Get this thing off me!"

Dash and Quan hurried to his sides and used their combined strength to pry Skulker's device off of Danny.

Danny stood up and smiled at them gratefully before staring in the direction Skulker went as he said, "Thanks guys. I have to save Danielle!"

Sam and Tucker came to him and Tucker said, "Let's get the Specter Speeder and teach Skulker a lesson."

Danny looked back and forth at Tucker and Sam as he said, "No! You guys can't come."

They were shocked as they both simultaneously shouted, "What?!"

He kept looking back and forth at them as he said, "You heard Skulker, he just wants me, not you guys."

Sam held her arms out as she frantically said, "Danny it's a trap!"

Danny stared at her before turning to Tucker as he solemnly said, "I know, but I have to go. He's got Danielle, I have to save her. If you guys come along there's no telling what he'll do to her."

Sam was very worried as she held her palms toward him and said, "You can't go alone!"

Danny smiled deviously as he changed into his ghost form and said, "I didn't say I was going alone."

His legs became a ghostly tail as he flew away as Tucker, Sam, and the other kids all ran after him.

Valerie was walking by herself on the sidewalk but stopped when she heard Danny yell, "Valerie!"

She turned around to see Danny flying toward her with Tucker, Sam, and the other kids close behind him.

Danny floated in front of her as she smiled and said, "Hey Danny. What's up?"

Danny stared at her urgently as he said, "Valerie, I need your help! Skulker's taken Dani!"

Valerie was shocked as she exclaimed, "What?!"

Danny pointed his right thumb backwards as he said, "He's taken her to his lair in the Ghost Zone and I need you to help me rescue her."

Valerie felt unsettled as she said, "The Ghost Zone?"

Danny spoke sincerely said, "I know I'm asking a lot, and I'm not saying it won't be dangerous, but I have to save Danielle and you're the only person who can help me."

Valerie was surprised but then narrowed her eyes as her battle suit materialized over her body as the other kids watched in awe. Valerie jumped in the air and sparks of electricity appeared as her hoverboard materialized under her boots.

She floated in the air with a serious expression as she said, "I'm in!"

Danny smiled gratefully and jerked his head to the side as he said, "Thanks Val. Come on!"

He and Valerie flew away as everyone watched them while Sam shouted, "Be careful Danny!"

When Danny and Valerie were gone Paulina had her hands hips as she complained, "Why couldn't that robot ghost take the goth girl instead? Then I'd have Danny all to myself."

Sam glared at Paulina as she pointed her right finger at her and said, "No he wouldn't! If Skulker took me Danny would come for me instead!"

Paulina glared at Sam as she pointed her right thumb at herself and said, "Well if anything happened to you Danny would be mine!"

Sam put her hands on her hips as she skeptically said, "And why is that?"

Paulina put her palms out to her sides as she smiled arrogantly and mockingly as she said, "Because I'm so much better than you."

The others all looked frightened as Sam furiously said, "Oh you think so? Well let's decide who's better with a little bowling tournament! Let's settle this once and for all!"

Paulina stared her in the face and angrily said, "You're on!"

They both took off running while the others watched them as Tucker said, "This is gonna get ugly."

Dash, Kwan, and Star all agreed as the simultaneously said, "Oh yeah."

Tucker smiled at them as he pointed his right thumb at Sam and Paulina as he said, "You guys wanna watch?"

The three of them smiled excitedly as they said, "Oh yeah!"

They all took off running to catch up with Paulina and Sam to watch the two girls compete with each other.

Later at Fenton Works

Danny and Valerie were in the lab as they floated in front of the Fenton Portal, preparing to enter the Ghost Zone.

Valerie stared at the portal with a nervous expression and Danny looked at her and asked, "You okay?"

She rubbed her left upper arm as she reluctantly said, "Yeah. Great."

Danny floated closer to the portal and curiously asked, "You ready?"

Valerie was still nervous as she honestly replied, "As I'll ever be."

They both flew through the portal and entered the Ghost Zone; Danny led the way as Valerie followed behind him. As they flew Valerie nervously looked around at her surroundings; she saw floating doors, large floating rocks, and of course ghosts. Ghosts flew everywhere making spooky noises as they passed Danny and Valerie before flying off.

Valerie kept looking around as she nervously said, "This place is even creepier than I remember."

Danny had his fists straight out as he continued flying as he understood and said, "Yeah, I felt the same way the first time I came here."

Valerie looked at him as she curiously said, "Do you know your way around here?"

Danny looked at her out of the corner of his eye and then glanced around in thought as he honestly said, "Sort of. Tucker, Sam, and I have explored the Ghost Zone. We made a map but the Ghost Zone is so big and it goes on forever, so there's still so much we don't know about it."

Valerie became very nervous as she sarcastically said, "Great."

Danny looked at her and then smiled reassuringly as he said, "But I definitely know where Skulker's lair is."

Valerie stared ahead nervously as she said, "Good. Never thought I'd ever end up going back to that place."

Danny nodded in thought as he admitted, "Yeah, last time we were both there we were handcuffed together."

Memories started coming back as Valerie fearfully said, "Yeah and Skulker almost killed us!"

Danny stopped and floated in front of her as he said, "Valerie! Are you sure you're okay?"

Valerie hovered in place as she succumbed and honestly said, "Sorry Danny. The Ghost Zone just scares me. It's creepy. Everywhere you look there are ghosts. And being here also brings back memories from the last time I saw Skulker."

Danny glanced to the side in thought as he recalled, "Yeah. Back when he caught us both and tried to hunt us like animals."

Valerie looked away nervously as she sarcastically said, "Thanks for the scary reminder."

Danny spoke sincerely as he said, "I know you have issues with this place, but remember why we're here. Danielle's in trouble and she needs us. I know you're scared but you have to face your fears to help the people you care about."

Valerie narrowed her eyes as she seriously said, "You're right! We've gotta save Dani! Nothing's gonna stop us!"

Danny smiled as he clinched his fist and said, "That's the spirit! Now come on, follow me!"

He took off flying again while Valerie followed him as they flew through the Ghost Zone to rescue Danielle.

Meanwhile in Amity Park

Sam and Paulina were at the bowling alley as Tucker, Dash, Kwan, and Star watched the two of them bowl competitively.

Sam bowled her ball and got a strike, then she happily cheered and gloated, "Oh yeah! That's right! Beat that!"

Paulina glared at her with a vexed expression as took a ball while Sam teased, "Careful you don't break a nail."

Paulina held the ball in both hands and then rolled it down the lane, but she got a gutter ball instead of a strike. Sam smugly grinned at her while Paulina kept glaring at her as she waited for her ball to return, then she took it and rolled it again, only to get another gutter ball.

Sam happily gloated as she pointed at Paulina and said, "Ha! I win! Looks like you're not as great as you think you are!"

Paulina angrily pointed at Sam as she said, "I am better than you, goth girl! And I'm going to prove it! Best two out of three!"

Sam smiled confidently as she said, "Oh you're on!"

They started the game again while the others watched and Dash curiously said, "You think Paulina can beat her?"

Tucker watched them as he honestly replied, "Maybe, but I hope they settle this without killing each other."

Back in the Ghost Zone

Skulker was among the trees of his lair with Danielle imprisoned in the box of glowing blue energy behind him.

She tried to break out as she punched the wall and demanded, "Let me out of here Skulker! Let me out right now!"

Skulker was looking through a pair of high-tech binoculars coming out of his wrist as he said, "Quiet ghost girl! You have bigger problems than that box."

She put her hands on the box as she looked up at him and said, "You'll never get away with this! Danny will come for me!"

Skulker smiled down at her sinisterly as he said, "That's the idea. You're the bait that will lure him into my trap."

He turned around and looked through his binoculars again as he stared into the Ghost Zone and saw Danny flying toward his lair.

Skulker smiled deviously as he said, "Yes, perfect timing. My prey approaches."

He kept looking through the binoculars when he spotted Valerie flying with Danny as he said, "And he's brought the young hunter girl with him."

Danielle heard him talking and curiously said, "Valerie?"

Skulker retracted his binoculars into his wrist and lowered his arm with an evil smile as he said, "Perfect! Now I'll have three new trophies for my collection."

He pushed a button on his left wrist and then hurried into the jungle of his lair, intending to hunt both teens.

Danny and Valerie flew onto Skulker's floating island and landed on it as Valerie deactivated her hoverboard.

Danny looked at Valerie as he pointed his thumb at himself then pointed at her as he said, "Okay, here's the plan: I'll take care of Skulker while you find and free Dani."

Valerie nodded as she said, "Got it."

She turned around and proceeded into the jungle while Danny put his hand up to his mouth and shouted, "And watch out for booby traps."

Valerie stopped and looked nervous as she said, "Oh right. Forgot about those."

She gulped as she proceeded into the jungle while Danny watched her with concern, then he flew in a different direction to find Skulker. He slowly floated through the trees as he searched for any sign of Skulker but stopped when he heard a sound. He quickly hid behind a tree as he heard foot steps getting closer, Danny peered from behind the tree to see Skulker emerge from bushes. He stepped out into a clearing and stopped as he looked around with a small blaster coming out of his right wrist. He walked to a clearing and stopped as he looked around; behind the tree, Danny smiled deviously as he quietly walked toward Skulker. His hands glowed green as he prepared to blast a ghost ray at Skulker, but he noticed he stepped on a tripwire. He quickly jumped out of the way as a glowing net was shot at him, only to miss and wrap around a nearby tree.

Danny was on the ground when he looked up at Skulker, who looked at him evilly and said, "Did you really think you could get the jump on me in my lair?"

Danny stood up and glared before smiling as he said, "Actually yes, but I guess it will much be more fun this way."

Skulker aimed his blaster at Danny with an evil smile as he said, "My sentiments exactly!"

He blasted a blue ray at Danny, but Danny flew up and dodged it before shooting a ghost ray from his finger. He damaged Skulker's blaster and then flew at him and tried to punch him, but Skulker dodged him and transformed his left hand into a mace and knocked Danny away.

Danny slid on the ground before he glared at Skulker and demanded, "What have you done with Danielle?!"

Skulker's mace turned back into his hand and he made a large weapon come out of the back of his right forearm.

While he did this he smiled as he sinisterly said, "The ghost girl is fine, for now. You should be more concerned about yourself! After I finish with you I'll take care of her. Her head will look good mounted on my wall."

Danny stood up and clinched his fists as his eyes glowed blue and he said, "I don't think so!"

He threw his hands out and shot ice blasts at Skulker, but he dodged it and Danny instead froze a tree behind him. Skulker then fired his weapon at Danny and knocked him on his back again, but Danny got back up and blasted Skulker with a ghost ray. He knocked Skulker back into a tree but he got up and glared at Danny while he fired his weapon again. Beast Boy quickly threw his hands out and created a ecto-shield over himself that blocked the beam. Skulker smiled deviously as he pushed a button on his left wrist that caused two weapons to rise out of the ground on opposite sides of Danny. They aimed at him and fired at him simultaneously as they breached his shield and hurt Danny as he let out a loud cry of pain.

They stopped firing and Danny was on his knees when Skulker walked up to him and gloated, "Foolish ghost boy! You may have an advantage against me in your world, but this is MY domain! Here I have the advantage!"

Danny glared at him as he flew at him with his fists out, only for Skulker to punch him in the face and knock him down. Danny tumbled on the ground before falling on his back, then he looked up at Skulker with anger and hatred.

Skulker smiled down at him evilly as he said, "By the way, thank you for bringing that hunter girl with you."

Danny gasped in horror as he realized Skulker already knew about Valerie as he cried, "Valerie!"

Skulker grinned as he gloated, "Don't act so surprised. Nothing gets past my hunter's eyes! I saw the two of you coming and I look forward to meeting her again. She'll make an excellent addition to my collection."

Danny was terrified as he exclaimed, "NO!"

The last thing Danny saw was Skulker blasting a ray at him from the weapon on the back of his forearm before he blacked out. Meanwhile Valerie was carefully sneaking through the jungle as she searched for Danielle until she spotted her through the bushes. She looked through a bush and saw Danielle sitting in the blue box of energy with a sad expression on her face.

Valerie stepped out of the bush and smiled as she said, "Danielle!"

Danielle was surprised as she looked at her and said, "Valerie?"

Valerie walked over to the box and put her hand on it as she smiled and said, "Don't worry kid, I'll get you out of there."

Danielle waved her hands as she said, "No! You have to get out of here!"

Valerie was surprised as she shook her head and said, "No way! I'm not leaving you here! Danny's taking care of Skulker, so I'll get you out of that box."

Danielle was very worried as she warned, "You don't understand! It's a…"

Suddenly a few automatic weapons rose out of the ground and aimed at Valerie as she exclaimed, "Trap!"

She jumped out of the way as the weapons fired and missed her, destroying each other as they crossed streams.

Valerie stood up and looked at the destroyed weapons and let out a sigh of relief as she said, "Phew! That was close."

She looked at Danielle, who was worried as she urgently said, "Skulker knows you're both here! You have to go help Danny before…"

They were both frightened as they heard Skulker say, "Before he gets back and ends the game once and for all?"

Valerie turned around and gasped in shock as she saw Skulker standing in front of her, holding a glowing blue net in his right hand. The net hung on the ground and had an unconscious Danny inside it as Skulker leered down at Valerie.

Valerie looked at Danny in the net as she shouted, "Danny!"

Skulker grinned victoriously as he confidently said, "It's too late! The fight is over and the hunter has caught his prey. Now I have all three of you exactly where I want you!"

Valerie stood up and looked at Skulker in terror as she leaned back, not sure how she would save her friends or even herself.

Commercial break

Skulker continued to leer at Valerie as she started to freak out and said, "Oh no! No! Not again! Not again!"

She turned to look at Danielle behind her as she exclaimed, "Don't scream Val! Fight him!"

Valerie then found her courage as she glared at Skulker and said, "Right!"

She held her right arm out as a small blaster came out of her wrist and fired a purple ray at Skulker, it hit him in the chest and knocked him down.

However, Skulker stood up and showed an interested smile as he said, "I see your weaponry has improved since the last time I saw you."

Valerie smiled confidently as she said, "I got some upgrades."

Skulker smiled maniacally as he said, "Good! I love a challenge!"

He held his arms out as two large cannons came out of his forearms and missile launchers emerged from his shoulders. Valerie looked nervous before glaring at him as she fired her blaster again, but Skulker dodged it and then launched his missiles at her. She quickly generated a blue energy shield over her that protected her as the missiles exploded on impact. She dropped the force-field and Skulker fired blue rays from the cannons on his forearms one at a time. Valerie dodged the first ray but the second hit her and sent her sliding on the ground as she let out a cry of pain. She immediately got back on her feet and glared at Skulker as two cannons came out of red pack and rapidly fired purple blasts at him. Skulker was surprised as he raised his arms to shield himself as the blasts hit him, then he retracted the cannon in his left forearm and transformed his hand into some kind of energy weapon. He shot electricity from it and zapped Valerie as she screamed while her the electricity surged through her suit.

Her two cannons retracted back into her pack and she gasped in shock as Skulker grinned and said, "Your weapons are formidable, but mine are superior."

He transformed his energy weapon back into a hand and then a long glowing green blade extended from his wrist. Valerie screamed in fear before ducking as Skulker nearly cut off her head, then she rolled between Skulker's legs and got up behind him and started running. She jumped in the air as her hoverboard materialized under her feet and she flew into the jungle while Skulker started blasting at her.

When she was gone Skulker smiled evilly as he shouted, "You can run but you can't hide!"

He laughed evilly and his laugh echoed across his floating island and further into the Ghost Zone.

Meanwhile at the bowling alley

Sam and Paulina were wrapping up their second bowling match as Paulina took her ball and rolled it down the lane with both hands.

She got a strike and happily raised her right fist as she cheered, "Yes! I did it! I win!"

Sam had her arms folded as she bitterly said, "You got lucky. Don't let it go to your head."

Paulina grinned at Sam as she pointed at her and gloated, "No one likes a sore loser. You're just mad 'cause you couldn't pick up that last spare."

Sam glared daggers at her as she pointed her left finger at her and said, "I would've gotten that spare if I hadn't slipped and dropped the ball too soon!"

Paulina leaned toward her as she glared at her and angrily said, "It's not my fault you hold onto your ball!"

Tucker quickly came between them with his arms up and raised his finger as he calmly said, "Easy ladies. It's not over yet. You're both tied and there's still one match left. Whoever wins this game proves herself the best. Winner take all."

Sam and Paulina glared at each other as they simultaneously said, "You're going down!"

Tucker was a bit frightened as he backed away and sat down with Dash, Kwan, and Star as they watched the two girls bowl again.

Back in the Ghost Zone

Valerie was flying through the trees of Skulker's lair on her hoverboard with a scared expression when she stopped and hovered in place.

She turned around and showed concern as she said, "What am I doing? I can't run! Danny and his sister are in trouble! They need me! I'm the only one who can help them!"

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she found her inner strength, then she opened her eyes and showed a serious expression.

She stared forward before turning in the direction she just fled from as she said to herself, "Okay Val, you can do this. Skulker's a hunter but so are you! Show him what you're made of!"

She quickly flew through the trees and headed back the way she came, intending to defeat Skulker and save the two Phantoms. Meanwhile Skulker held a large blade in his hands as he started sharpening it with Danny and Danielle behind him. Danielle was still imprisoned in the blue box of energy while Danny had regained consciousness in the glowing glue net, which was now hanging from a tree.

Danielle had her hands against the wall of the box as she looked at Danny and said, "Danny, are you okay?"

Danny was struggling as he hung in the net and said, "I'm fine but I can't get out of this! This net's disrupting my powers. I can't go intangible either."

He stopped struggling when Skulker came to him with his blade as he smiled evilly and said, "It prevents you from using any of your ghostly powers. There's no escape for you this time. Finally I will have the ultimate prize!"

He raised his blade over his head and prepared to swing it at Danny, who stared at him in fear with his mouth agape. Suddenly the blade was blasted out of Skulker's as he cried in pain and held his hand with an angry expression. He turned around to see Valerie hovering with her left arm out with a blaster coming out of her wrist as smoke came out of it.

Skulker smiled evilly as he said, "So the young hunter returns."

Valerie smiled confidently as she replied, "Yeah. Now let's see who the REAL hunter is."

Skulker clinched his fists as he arrogantly said, "Foolish child! I am the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter! You really think you have a chance against me?!"

Valerie glared daggers back at Skulker while she fearlessly said, "I know I'm not going down without a fight!"

She fired the ghost stinger on her hoverboard and blasted Skulker and knocked him flat on his back. Then she reached into her pack and pulled out three razor-sharp discs and threw at the net holding Danny, cutting him free as he fell to the ground. Valerie then fired a purple ray from the blaster on her left wrist and destroyed the blue energy box, freeing Danielle.

She and Danny floated in the air as they smiled each other and laughed in joy while Skulker stood and said, "What?!"

Danielle glared at Skulker as she flew at him while he extended two sharp curved blades out of his wrist and slashed them at her. Danielle dodged them and then punched him in the face three times before performing a roundhouse kick to his head, knocking him to the ground.

She looked down at him and smiled proudly as she said, "My mom taught me that!"

Skulker got back up and prepared to attack her again when he was hit by a ball of ecto-energy from Danny and a purple ray from Valerie. They sent him flying back and slamming into the bottom of the giant skull-shaped rock of his floating island.

Skulker got on his feet as the three young heroes floated together and Danny said, "Give it up Skulker! You can't beat all three of us by yourself!"

Skulker smiled deviously at them as he said, "Who said I was by myself?"

He grinned as he pushed a button in his left wrist, then suddenly secret doors opened up beside him in the rock. Out of the doors emerged a bunch of ghost woodland animals as they all growled and snarled viciously at Danny, Danielle, and Valerie.

Valerie was surprised as she said, "Whoa! I didn't know he had pets."

Danny recognized the ghost animals as he pointed at them and said, "Those are Vlad's old ghost animals!"

They stood beside Skulker as he grinned maliciously and pointed his finger while saying, "Yes, they make excellent hunting dogs. Attack!"

The ghost animals all roared as they charged toward them, so Danny, Valerie, and Danielle turned around and flew off into the jungle. The ghost animals followed them while Skulker smirked evilly and pushed another button in his wrist. All over the edges of his island small pylons emerged from the ground and together they project a giant green force-field dome over Skulker's lair.

Skulker lowered his arms as confidently said, "There is no escape! You whelps are in my domain, and here I am the hunter and you are the prey!"

The three of them flew further into the jungle but stopped when they came to a clearing and they became surrounded by some of the ghost animals. Valerie made small blasters come out of both her wrists and fired them at two ghost eagles that flew toward her, disintegrating them both. A ghost deer charged at Danielle but she kicked it away, then she swiped her leg through the air and sent a horizontal wave of ecto-energy at two ghost rabbits. Danielle then put her hands together and shot a ghost ray at a ghost badger, destroying it with one shot. Danny created a duplicate of himself and then they both punched a ghost wolf and knocked it into a bunch of other animals. The two Dannys them merged back into one and his eyes glowed blue as he shot a blue ray from his hands that froze a ghost bear in a large chunk of ice.

Danny floated to Danielle and Valerie and smiled proudly as he said, "Good job girls. Way to go."

Danielle smiled happily as she said, "Thanks Danny. It feels good to be out of that box!"

Valerie looked up at the force-field overhead and curiously asked, "So how are we gonna get past that shield?"

Danny put his finger on his chin as he thought and said, "Hmmm… I could probably take it out with my Ghostly Wail, but it might take a lot out of me."

Danielle glanced at him and Valerie with an angry expression as she pounded her fist and said, "I say we kick Skulker's butt and make him drop the shield."

Danny looked at her with a serious expression as he said, "It's not that easy Dani. This is Skulker's lair, he has the advantage here. He knows this place like the back of his hand and he's got traps all over the place."

Valerie looked at them with a devious smile as she said, "Then maybe we can set a trap of our own."

Back at the bowling alley

Sam and Paulina were nearing the end of their third and final bowling match as Sam picked up her ball and prepared to roll it for the last time.

She stared at the pins as she confidently said, "Okay pins, prepare to fall like dead trees."

She started walking toward the lane as she held the ball back while Paulina was drinking a bottled water.

She looked away as she shook the bottle and poured some water on the floor while saying, "Oops."

Sam slipped on the water and dropped the ball, resulting it rolling in the gutter and missing all the pins as she watched in shock.

Paulina smiled mockingly at her as she gloated, "Ooh, looks like you fell instead of the pins."

Sam stood up and glared at her as she pointed her finger and said, "You did that on purpose!"

Paulina had her hands on her hips before she took her ball and said, "It was an accident. You can't prove anything. Now if you'll excuse me it's my turn."

She rolled her ball with both hands and got a strike, then she happily put her hands together and said, "Yes! I win! Two out of three! I'm the best!"

Sam went to Paulina and furiously pointed her finger while she said, "No! You cheated! You're not the best, you're the worst!"

They both glared at each other while Tucker walked up with his hands out and calmly said, "Uh Sam, take it easy."

Paulina pointed her thumb at herself then pointed her finger at Sam while she angrily said, "I won because I'm better than you! Danny should be mine! Not yours!"

Sam slapped Paulina's hand and knocked it against one of the balls as she angrily said, "You're a cheating shallow witch! Danny would never date you!"

Tucker got nervous as he held his hands out and said, "Uh… Sam…"

Paulina looked at her hand and gasped in shock before glaring at Sam as she shouted, "You broke my perfect nail!"

She then jumped Sam and tackled her to the ground, the two girls started fighting on the ground while Tucker backed away. Dash, Kwan, and Star joined him as they all looked down and watched Sam and Paulina fight each other.

Kwan curiously asked, "Should we do something?"

Tucker kept watching them fight as he asked, "You want to get between them?"

The others shook their heads as they simultaneously said, "No."

Tucker kept watching them and then smiled at the others as he said, "Bet you guys twenty bucks Sam wins."

They smiled competitively while Dash pointed at him and said, "You're on!"

Meanwhile in the Ghost Zone

Skulker was walking through the jungle of his lair with a blaster coming out of his right wrist as he searched for his targets.

As he walked he grinned maliciously as he said, "They're close. I can feel it."

Suddenly Danielle appeared in front of him teasingly said, "Wow! You're good! Bet you can't catch me!"

She flew away and he tried to blast her but missed and then he started chasing her as she flew to a clearing.

She stopped and floated in the air as she grinned back at Skulker who came running toward her but he suddenly stopped.

He smiled knowingly as he looked down at a tripwire and said, "Nice try. Getting me to fall for my own trap? You'll have to do better than that."

Danielle smiled deviously as she said, "Oh we did."

Skulker then cocked an eyebrow as he curiously said, "We?"

Suddenly Valerie flew behind Skulker at high speed and rammed him with her hoverboard and knocked him into the clearing. He tumbled on the ground while Valerie hovered in place and then Danny appeared as the three of them surrounded him.

Danny smiled confidently as he said, "This time we set a trap for you, and it looks like we caught our prey."

He looked at the three of them and showed respect as he said, "Well done whelps, but hunting the hunter is never easy."

He then activated several other weapons as missile launchers came out of his shoulders, a large weapon came out of his left forearm and a smaller weapon came out of his right upper arm. He fired the blaster on his right wrist at Danny, but Danny dodged it shot and ice ray that froze the weapon, then he threw at Skulker and smashed it to pieces. Skulker fired a green ray from the weapon on his right upper arm and blasted Danny away, but then Danielle shot a ghost ray at it and broke it before kicking Skulker in the face. Skulker stayed on his feet and punched her and knocked her away when he was blasted from behind by Valerie. He turned to her and fired the weapon on his left forearm, shooting a harpoon on a cable at her, she dodged it and the harpoon stabbed a tree and got stuck. Valerie flew at him with her gauntlets glowing with purple energy and she punched him hard in the face, knocking him back and causing the cable to snap. He got back up and launched missiles at her, but small missile launchers appeared in the sides of her hoverboard. She launched them and had them counter Skulker's missiles as they exploded in the air.

Valerie then reached into her pack with a smile on her face as she said, "Still think your weapons are better than mine?"

She threw a couple of grenades at Skulker and they exploded in front of him, blasting him back into a tree.

He fell to the ground but got back up as he smiled and said, "Not bad but you'll have to do better than that to beat me."

He was about to attack her again but Danny and Danielle flew at him from behind and rammed him, knocking him across the ground. Skulker sat up with a vexed expression as he saw Danny, Danielle, and Valerie floating together as they grinned at him.

Danny folded his arms with a grin on her face as he smugly said, "Maybe the hunter needs some more practice."

Skulker smiled deviously as he pushed a button on his wrist and said, "Or maybe the prey should stick to running."

A bunch of turrets came out of the ground and they all aimed directly at Danny, Valerie, and Danielle. A bunch of Skulker's ghost animals also came out of the jungle and growled as they stared at the three of them.

Skulker smiled overconfidently as he said, "All three of you provided excellent sport. You will make wonderful trophies."

Valerie smiled coyly as she said, "Yeah, I don't think so."

She lifted her left arm as a screen flipped up from the back of her glove and she started pushing buttons on her wrist.

Suddenly Skulker's right wrist started playing a familiar ringtone and he looked at it in shock as he said, "What?! You're hacking into my system?!"

Valerie looked at him with a smug grin as she said, "Yeah, Tucker told me about that time you put his PDA into your suit."

Suddenly Skulker's wings activated and he sighed in exasperation and complained, "Not again."

His jets ignited as he flew high into the air and as he approached the force-field over his lair it dropped so he could pass through. Skulker screamed in defeat as he flew off into the Ghost Zone while everyone watched, and the ghost animals turned and left in fear while the turrets deactivated.

Danny and Danielle smiled at Valerie as Danielle happily said, "You did it Valerie!"

Danny smiled proudly as he said, "Yeah! Congratulations! You beat Skulker!"

She showed a flattered smile as she put her hands on her hips while she said, "Aww, thanks guys. But I couldn't have done it without you two."

Danielle threw her arms out as she happily said, "You were amazing!"

Danny smiled as he nodded in agreement and said, "Yeah Valerie. You were really brave."

Valerie smiled at him before pointing her thumb backwards while she said, "Thanks Danny. That means a lot. Now let's go home."

She turned and flew off on her hoverboard and then Danny and Danielle's legs turned into ghostly tails as they followed her.

Later in Amity Park

It was late in the day as Tucker and Sam were on their way to Danny's house as they walked together on the sidewalk. Sam was a mess from her fight with Paulina; her hair was messy, she had a black eye, scratches all over her body, and her clothes were in tatters. While they walked Tucker happily counted the money he made from betting on Sam winning the fight. He had made sixty dollars as he flipped his finger through all the bills, he betted twenty against Dash, Kwan, and Star.

As they approached Danny's house Tucker smiled at Sam and said, "Nice job Sam. I knew you could do it."

Sam waved her hand as she smiled and bragged, "That was nothing. When Paulina starts fighting ghosts, then maybe she'll be a challenge."

Tucker then looked at her as he curiously said, "Speaking of which, do you think Danny and Valerie beat Skulker?"

They walked up to Danny's front door while Sam said, "I don't know, we'd better check."

They walked in and they found Danny, Danielle, and Valerie safely in the living room; Danny and Danielle were in their human forms and Valerie was not wearing her suit. Danny and Valerie smiled as they sat on the couch while Danielle stood in front of them with her arms out as she happily talked about their battle.

Danielle held her hands out toward Danny as she happily said, "And when you froze that ghost bear! That was so cool!"

Danny smiled proudly as he said, "You can say that again."

Danielle smiled at Valerie as she happily said, "And when you sent Skulker flying away, that was awesome!"

Valerie showed a flattered smile as she held her right hand out toward Danielle and said, "Thanks Danielle. You were great too."

Danielle showed appreciation as she said, "Thank you."

Sam watched the three of them as she said, "I think they're okay."

Danny looked at them as he raised his right hand and greeted, "Hey guys."

He suddenly noticed what a mess Sam was as he jumped and walked to her while saying, "Whoa! Sam! What happened to you?!"

Sam put her hands on her hips as she proudly said, "Ha! You should see Paulina."

Danny narrowed his eyes and pointed his finger as he sternly said, "Did you two get in a fight? I told you not to."

She folded her arms as she firmly said, "It was bound to happen eventually."

Danielle came up to them as she excitedly asked, "Did you win?"

Tucker stood next to Danielle as he showed her his money as he happily said, "Oh yeah! Sam kicked butt and I won sixty bucks!"

Sam smiled proudly as she put her arm around Danny and said, "That's right! Nobody flirts with my boyfriend!"

Valerie walked up to her and smiled with respect as they fist-bumped while she said, "I hear that girlfriend."

Danielle was disappointed as she said, "Man! Wish I could've seen it."

Tucker handed her thirty dollars as he said, "Here you go Dani. You bet on Sam winning too, so here's your cut."

She smiled at the thirty dollars in her hand and happily said, "Wow! Thanks!"

Sam looked at Danny as she rhetorically asked, "So, I take you guys beat Skulker?"

Danny smiled as he pointed his right thumb at Valerie and said, "Yep. Thanks to Valerie."

Danielle agreed as she said, "Yeah! Valerie saved us and beat Skulker!"

Valerie smiled modestly as she pointed at Tucker while saying, "Oh it was no big deal. I used that hacking trick you taught me Tucker."

Tucker smiled as he said, "Sweet!"

Danny smiled at Valerie with respect as he said, "I gotta say Valerie, you really came through. You were scared of Skulker and the Ghost Zone, but you came back and saved Dani and me. You really stepped up."

Valerie smiled with appreciation as she honestly replied, "Thanks Danny. I have to admit I was scared, but I was more afraid of what would happen to you guys. You needed my help and I wasn't just gonna leave you two to be mounted on Skulker's wall."

Danielle smiled as she praised her, "Thanks Val! You're the best!"

Valerie smiled down at Danielle and looked at Tucker as he smiled proudly and said, "Yeah! Way to go Val!"

Sam smiled as she curiously asked, "So would you say that you've conquered your fear of the Ghost Zone?"

Valerie had her right hand on her hip as she proudly said, "Yep, but I don't plan on going back there anytime soon."

Danny smiled as he held his right palm up and joked, "That's okay Valerie. I have a feeling we won't see Skulker for a while. At least not until he's done at the library."

The five of them all started laughing together as the others all knew exactly what Danny was talking about.

Meanwhile at the library

Skulker was very annoyed as he looked through bookshelves, searching for a certain book that he was very familiar with.

As he searched he angrily said, "Where is it?! Where?! Where is that infernal book on the Purple Back Gorilla?!"

A librarian passed by him, reading a book and not looking at him as he said, "That book was checked out yesterday."

He left and Skulker hung his arms at his sides with a vexed expression as he sarcastically complained, "Perfect."

His wrist played Tucker's PDA ringtone again then his wings activated and he turned intangible before flying up through the ceiling.

Author's note: This is one of my few episodes where Danielle is part of the main plot. I also put Valerie in it as a nod to "D-Stabilized". I wanted to have the three of them fight Skulker because they are all characters who Skulker would certainly want to hunt. I also thought it would be nice to see Skulker sometimes hunt someone other than Danny, I can picture him wanting to hunt Danielle and he did try to hunt Valerie too in one episode. I thought it would be nice to see Valerie fight him again, and with her upgraded suit she'd put up a better fight and he'd probably want to hunt her even more. I also thought it would be good to see Valerie go into the Ghost Zone again, she only went in there once in the series and I could picture her being afraid to go back. My next chapter will be twice as long as the others because it will be an hour-long special like "Reign Storm", "The Ultimate Enemy", and "Reality Trip". Please review.
