"Ilda. Ilda. Ilda!" The teen finally snapped back to reality as Midoriya placed a hand on his shoulder. "You alright?"
"My apologies Midoriya. I was just nervous due to the internships. I am perfectly alright. Ah, I believe that's my train, I shall be on my way. Good luck with your internship!" Izuku watched as his friend walked away. The news of Ingenium's paralysis had spread quickly and clearly had a large impact on Ilda.
Izuku looked around the room, before making his way towards another of his classmates. "Todoroki!" He waved as his friend turned. "You're going to Hosu for your internship, right?"
"Good morning Midoriya. Yes, Endeavour plans to hunt the hero killer." Izuku didn't miss the way Todoroki referred to his father, but Izuku certainly didn't blame him considering the circumstances. Endeavour was one of the only people that made Izuku wish the Metaverse still existed, that wasn't something he thought lightly.
"It's just with... what happened to Ilda's brother. I'm worried he'll try something rash, Hosu was the last place the hero killer was spotted."
"I see. Very well, I will see what I can do."
Alright, everything was fine. Yep. Definitely not a major event in his path to being a hero. Izuku breathed deeply as he stepped through the automatic door, entering a perfectly clean lobby. Upon one of the waiting seats, sat a blonde haired boy in what appeared to be a hero costume. "Hey! You must be the intern!"
The hero smiled excitedly as he got up from his seat, giving Izuku a better look at him. "You're Lemillion, the winner of last year's sport's festival!"
"Yep, Sir is in his office. It's just up here." Izuku followed Mirio up the stairs, as he did, he thought about why he was here. All Might had said that Sir Nighteye, his former sidekick, was skeptical of Izuku's abilities and wished to observe them himself. Finally, they reached the top floor of the agency. Mirio gestured for Izuku to enter, though did not do so himself.
Entering, Izuku was greeted with a room that reminded him of his own bedroom, that was to say, it was coated in All Might merch. Sitting at the office's desk was a man in a pristine white suit, his cold yellow eyes looked up as Izuku entered. Triangular glasses rested on his face, though they did nothing to dampen his threatening gaze.
"So... you're Izuku Midoriya."
For what felt like the hundredth time, a bar stool disintegrated within the League's base, though for a different reason than normal. "Stupid hero killer." He grumbled as Kurogiri patched his stab wounds. The group's meeting with Stain had gone rather poorly, leaving Tomura in another of his moods. "Kurogiri. I want to send a raid on Hosu, show up that asshole."
"I'm afraid that is not possible Tomura." All for One spoke from the screen in the corner. "Your assault on the sport's festival has already consumed your available resources. I propose a more subtle approach. Tactical thinking is a valuable asset, the hero killer has rejected your offer, but that doesn't mean you can't take advantage of his appearance."
The man-child lifted his head as he thought. "Of course, those idiot followers of his will believe anything, all we have to do is convince them Stain is on our side." Tomura slowly scratched at his neck, yes, some new party members would do nicely.
"Hosu city?" Izuku questioned as he and Sir Nighteye stepped onto the train, a few civilians muttered about the heroes appearance, but they were otherwise unbothered.
"Yes. I have an investigation to conduct there. As well as that, it will provide an opportunity for me to gauge your abilities. That said, if you're anything like Toshinori I'm sure you'll try to rush into something you aren't ready for. If I see that, you'll be punished severely, understand?"
"Yes sir!"
"Good." The hero paused as he looked at his intern. "My initial impression of you has been rather mixed. You share All Might's recklessness, but you also share his insistence on smiling." Another pause. "That's good. Keep drawing from the positive aspects of Yagi and you'll do just fine." He stopped talking as he saw Izuku looking at him with a strange expression on his face. "What?"
"It's just, I- Uh..."
"Didn't expect me to approve of All Might's way of making people feel safe." A nod. "I'm cold in public because when I'm serious it makes people feel safe. If you or Yagi tried to force yourself to look serious, no one would feel safe around you. Smiles and humour make civilians feel at ease, without that, the world would be worse off."
Shoto barely had a chance to react as his father took off into the sky. It had been a repeating pattern throughout the night, his father would get a report through the hero network, then he would take off, not giving Shoto a chance to catch up. He was about to follow the number two hero, when the sound of a pained scream reached his ears.
Slowly, he approached the alley the voice came from, the sight that met him was the last he wanted to see. Standing within the moonlight, was a man adorned with blades. A long red scarf trailed down his back, accompanying it was a off white cloth mask, the end of which was red with blood. While the news had never gotten a clear image of the man, Todoroki knew exactly who this was. The hero killer Stain carried a bloodied katana, beneath him, lay a injured, but thankfully alive, Tenya Ilda.
