Chapter Fourteen
Several hours later..
Don's apartment…
Don sighed as he slumped on his well-worn coach, as he had needed to get back to his own place to take care of some things before going back to the office. That and he felt that he needed to take some time alone before going back to the case.
'Still, maybe when we finally nab the guy, we Eppes should go to a movie, as we haven't done that in a while.' Don thought to himself as he grabbed the envelopes.
After looking through his mail, which was mostly junk, he went to do some laundry when he heard a strange noise in the hallway, causing the seasoned agent to warily go check his door peephole before going out to see what was going on.
At first he just saw two people picking up some boxes, which made him think that it was just the noise, and went to help the men pick up their things.
"Everything okay?" He asked as he started to help pick up things when he noticed something odd about the papers.
He immediately noticed that one of the papers had some of the same wording as the other notes had, making him wonder if these people even knew anything.
Before Don could do anything else, he found himself being tackled by one of the men he was trying to help and the other using a stun gun on him, causing the agent to black out in the process.
The two men, realizing what they had done, as they weren't even planning on ambushing the agent, decided to quickly pick up the agent and head for the elevator.
Just after they got in, they noticed a scrawny man with messy hair walking from the other side of the hall and looking alarmed as the doors closed.
Neither of the men felt worried, though, as they thought, what man that looked like that could pose any problems for them.
Little did they know.
Charlie saw in horror the two strange men taking his unconscious brother in the elevator and was too late to catch the elevator and quickly went for the stairs as he quickly grabbed his cell phone as he went down.
"Megan, I saw two guys taking Don!" Charlie shouted into his phone as he breathlessly ran down the stairs, not sure what he would even do if he had run into those men.
Unfortunately, the men got into their getaway car by the time Charlie got to ground level and he knew that it could be related to the case.
'Need to get Don and fast before anything happens to him!' Charlie thought frantically as he waited for help to arrive.
It wouldn't be soon enough for the younger Eppes.
