The trek home wasn't special or anything. Frost was as icy as ever, her rough exterior up to max, I trailed behind her liked a kicked kitten… Mother must be so worried…
Featherkit followed closely behind Falcon, imitating their every move, their plumy gray tail sticking straight up like a stick.
"I really didn't mean to say that…" I said in a hushed tone, Frost could hold grudges, what if she held this one forever.., "And I definitely didn't mean it."
No response.
To me, the silence seemed practically deafening. Every so often Falcon rested the tip of their tail on my shoulders before whisking it away again.
The kit, Featherkit, I didn't understand clan naming traditions in the slightest, fished in and out of the undergrowth and was able to grab an old fat mouse nestled in a brick wall.
This was it, I was home… I glanced at the sky, crimson streaks were beginning to appear, Frost leaped up first, her tiny claws nabbing at the little nicks in the trees. Falcon dragged Featherkit up by the scruff. I hopped up afterwards, ungracefully but effectively climbing up the old tree and flopping into my bed.
Falcon looked around nervously, "I best be off, keep the kitten safe, make sure the two-legs look after her, I'll be back soon."
Featherkit lifted her head haughtily in the air with an incredulous expression she said, "I'm not a kitten! And I'm not a kittypet!" before switching her tone to more of a wheedle and lashing her tail, "Besides you promised you'd train me!"
"Sorry kiddo." they said, with a small shrug, "Just be good, that's a direct order."
They gave a loud puff of disappointment, "Fine."
"Atta girl." they said before turning to leave when someone new interrupted, a yellow and white angry she-cat, my mother…
"Falcon!" she hissed causing Falcon to leap in surprise, despite only having 3 paws my Mother was surprisingly quiet.
Despite knowing they had been caught with a mouse in their paws, they still attempted to get out of this, inching away"Oh, Cream… How are you? Your as elegant as ever…"
"Where has my son been!?"
