I skidded to a stop, "I didn't mean to. I was just out and about. Did you say your a Thunderclan cat?" I was always warned to stay far away from them, menaces to all living beings. Still I had to admit while she definitely looked more roughed up than me

I glanced backwards to see that my friends were nowhere to be seen. It was just me and the Thunderclan cat.

She stared relatively unimpressed, "Your a kittypet aren't you?"

Normally I'd feel a vague amount of offense, sure we had a softer lifestyle but at least we didn't harm other cats. Still I had reacted the same way to her being Thunderclan, she mimicked my tone almost exactly. Again, kittypets didn't attack for some obscene border nonsense. "Yes, yes I am." I said trying to sound brave, like Frost, "Do you have a problem with that?"

She blinked, shuffling her paws on the leaves creating a faint rustling sound, "Oh, no. I was… huh… your alot different. I thought you'd just jump out of your fur." I glanced around, as nervous as the beating butterflies in my stomach were with being separated from the rest of the group she didn't seem to bad, I was pretty sure I was taller than her, besides, maybe I just wanted to prove her wrong by flattening my fur as calmly as I could manage.

"I'm Beetle. You are?"

The hostility seemed to have had faded somewhat, "Cricketpaw." Again with the odd end part of their names. "I'm a Thunderclan cat as I said before."

"Oh."

The awkwardness stretched onward between us, seemed neither of us wanted to be uncivil. At least I didn't, I had just met Cricketpaw, she could be manipulating me… still it seemed very unlikely she was barely older than me.

Which is why it would be a perfect trap!

Calling in the forest broke us out of the trance-like state. Cricketpaw's mismatched ears shot up. One ear was a brown and the other was white. Just like my Mom's… nearly identical… was she maybe my long lost sister or something crazy like that-

"I have to go." she said with a sheepish smile, "That's my mentor. She's really smart, a little strict though." She bounded off down a hill before popping back to call out, "Don't let me catch you again! Or I might even have to show you these bad boys." She pulled out her claws… not in a threatening way though, I liked her, she was Thunderclan though… but Falcon was from Shadowclan… this was all so confusing.

Ignoring the obvious problems I did like her, she reminded me of Frost.

Frost crashed into me, bowling us both over. "There you are! Huh… I smell Thunderclan here… At least I think that's what it is. We should get out of here."

A wave of relief washed over me at seeing Frost's familiar face, "Where'd you disappear to anyways, you were right behind us and then poof."

I bit my lip wondering if I should tell her what I had seen today. I knew it wasn't right but I wanted to keep the interaction for myself, Frost was very opinionated. And I loved her for it, but I didn't want to get into the morality of Thunderclan cats when it was only a chance meeting and nothing really important happened. We ran into each other, talked vaguely, then she left.

"I'm sorry. I saw a rabbit." Lie. I felt my skin feel as slimy as the wet leaves underneath us, "It was really big… I scared it off though, wish you could've seen it." I was horrified inside at how I was able to not only lie but elaborate… oh no… Mom would be so disappointed in me… even worse Frost bought it.

"Aww…" she whined, "Guess we better keep looking around! Come on, we saw a really cool thing earlier too, it's still there I think!"

She bounded off into the forest not waiting for my reply, which was that maybe we should head back before we wear out our luck.
