The next day brought sunshine and a sense of relief for Trina as she woke up in a comfortable bed, surrounded by beautiful things. She no longer felt like a prisoner as it hit her that she was now closer to Spencer than ever! Now it was no longer being under the same big sky that gave her comfort, but knowing that he was on the same island, just in a building a few paces away! Slipping out of bed, she looked in the closet to find a wardrobe meant for island living. The clothes were a little big on her, but she managed to make a pretty yellow sundress fit.

A slight knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts, reminding her that she was not in the house alone.

"Come in, Ava."

"Hey...I had just made some coffee if you're interested," Ava gave her a hopeful smile. She couldn't help but hope that Trina's anger with her was gone. After all, the girl did ask for her to live in this cottage with her.

"That would be great, thank you," Trina made herself smile. Her anger was fading, but it was still present. She couldn't get over what Ava had done to Spencer's father and had stood by as Spencer began to blame himself for his father's disappearance from his life. "By the way, it's not me that you have to thank for your being here and not locked up in the other building. It was Spencer. He pleaded your case. He didn't want me to be here alone."

Ava winced, realizing why Trina was telling her this. "I never meant to hurt him, you know. It all had happened so fast. I didn't have time to think about how he would react when I came up with that explanation."

"It was still wrong, Ava. And you lied not only to him and to Laura. You lied to me too. That's what hurts most of all. You were the one person who always told me the truth. Now you've taken that away from me...after I've lost far too much already."

Ava bowed her head, feeling ashamed. "I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you, Trina. I didn't even mean to hurt Nikolas as bad as I had. I had only wanted to stop him from taking Avery away."

"I don't know when I'll be able to forgive you fully, Ava. But...I'm glad that you're here with me. You can keep me company until Spencer can come to see me. If he can come to see me...he's only free from Victor's control for two hours...not nearly enough time…"

"But it is time. How about...we get everything ready for your time to be extra special today."

"What do you mean?" Trina frowned, not getting what Ava was up to.

"It looks to be a pretty day out. Too pretty to spend it inside….so let's make a basket full of snacks and blankets and you and Spencer can spend your time out there on the beach."

Trina liked the idea, but she was reluctant. She didn't want to do anything that would expose her and Spencer to Victor and cut their time together short.

"I don't know…"

"What don't you know? No one can see you back there, down by the water. There's even some rock formations to give you some privacy if you want."

"What will you be doing while we're down there? Fight with Mr. Cassadine?"

Ava shrugged. "Possibly. Or go and hide out in my room while he does whatever. The point is, you and Spencer get some much-needed alone time to really reconnect before he has to go back."

"Well...ok. I like it. Let me get some coffee in me and we'll get started," Trina smiled, rubbing her hands together, looking forward to Spencer's visit.

…..

Spencer felt like he was sitting on a powder keg as lunch reached its end. He didn't even have an appetite to eat anything as his father and Uncle glared at each other. Both seemed to be challenging each other for control of the situation and he had no clue who would be the winner. He just hoped for Trina's sake that it was his father.

"I want to take Ace with us for the two hours this time. He's my son. I want to get to know him," Nikolas glared at Victor, knowing that he was risking what he had already gained, but he couldn't help it. Every time he tried to go near his youngest son, the nanny made sure that he was kept at a distance. "I definitely don't want that bitch there. I'm sick of it!"

Victor's eyes gleamed with malice as he leaned forward. "Nikolas, I'll give you a choice for the day. Ace or Spencer. You can spend the two hours with Ace, with no interruptions, no guard, no nanny. Or you can spend it with Spencer. No guards, no me. Just you and your eldest son. You can't have them both."

"You are being ridiculous! You can't make me choose between my sons!"

"I can and I am. Make your choice. May I remind you, it'd be a shame to destroy the progress you had made with your eldest? Progress is such an easy thing to destroy."

Spencer opened his mouth, wanting to tell his father that it was ok. That he could choose Ace, that he didn't have to see Trina today, even though everything in him wanted to. It was a choice that his father shouldn't have to make.

Nikolas's eyes drifted to Spencer and then back to Victor, knowing that the old man was right. Right now, he had Spencer's trust and he was through breaking it. There will be plenty of alone time with Ace later when Victor was neutralized for good. Right now, he had to solidify his relationship with Spencer. Gain his trust and support.

"You bastard. Fine. I choose Spencer. I will not betray his fragile trust. But soon, Uncle Victor. Soon I will insist on having Ace in my arms without that bitch getting in the way."

Victor just chuckled as he stood from his seat. "I am not surprised. Well, enjoy your two hours. Guards, follow me."

Nikolas waited until all of the guards were gone, leaving himself and Spencer alone before his muscles relaxed in relief.

"Father, you didn't have to do that. I'd understand if you chose Ace," Spencer frowned.

"I know...but you need our walks, right? Ace will be fine. But you need your light."

Getting his father's metaphor, Spencer nodded. "That I do. Can we go now?"

"Of course," Nikolas got to his feet and placed his hand on Spencer's shoulder as they left the house.

…..

Everything was ready by the time Spencer and Nikolas walked through the door. Trina immediately flew into Spencer's arms as soon as the door was closed.

"I missed you," She pulled away to smile up into his pretty brown eyes.

"I missed you too," Spencer smiled back before claiming her lips in a passionate kiss.

Nikolas and Ava watched the pair, feeling as if they were intruding on a private moment. It was Ava who cleared her throat.

"Um, Trina had prepared a nice spread for the two of you to share down on the beach. It's such a pretty day, it'd be a shame to spend it indoors," Ava revealed Trina's plan.

"You did that for us?" Spencer asked, impressed.

"Yes. I want us to enjoy our time together as much as possible," Trina gripped his hands in hers. "Just let me go get everything and we can go...that is if it's really ok to do so…"

"It's fine. Victor can't see you back there," Nikolas nodded his approval.

Spencer watched her disappear into the kitchen then turned to his father. "I can't thank you enough for this, Father. For bringing her here, keeping her safe...everything. I love her so much."

"I know you do. That's why I'm doing this," Nikolas winked, just as Trina returned carrying a huge basket and what looked to be a couple of blankets.

"I'm all set," Trina grinned.

"Well...I'll be back in two hours I suppose," Spencer grinned, wrapping an arm around Trina's shoulder.

"Have fun, son," Nikolas watched as Spencer and Trina disappeared out the back door.

"So, what are we going to do now?" Ava looked at her former husband, now captor.

"I'm going to read a magazine. I don't know what you're going to do, nor do I care," Nikolas settled onto a couch and picked up a nearby book that had been discarded on the coffee table.

Down on the beach, Trina and Spencer had found a nice spot behind some rock formations and decided that would be a perfect place for extra privacy, just to be sure. Trina spread the blanket out on the sand and settled down before unpacking the sandwiches, fruit, and drinks she had prepared.

"I thought that perhaps you may be hungry. Of course, it's after lunch, so you must have eaten already…" Trina began to ramble.

"Actually, I couldn't eat a bite. I was too wound up. I was afraid to say or do anything that would set Uncle Victor off," Spencer shrugged, settling down next to her.

"Is he always round-tight like that?" She asked, feeling concerned.

"Yeah. Especially with my father. He knows that Father is the rightful head of the family and is the only one that can usurp his control...which Father is working on doing, unbeknownst to Uncle Victor. At least I hope he doesn't know."

"I hope he doesn't either. I worry for you, Spencer."

"It's not me that I'm worried about. I know that you're safe, just as long as my father is around. If Uncle Victor gets the upper hand...I don't know what'll happen and that scares me to death where you're concerned. I wouldn't be able to take it if anything happened to you, Trina."

"Nothing will. Your father has everything under control. I trust him. Which is something, because I don't trust many people these days."

"Do you trust me?"

Trina looked into his eyes and smiled, gently touching his cheek. "That goes without saying."

Smiling, he leaned in and kissed her tenderly. Pulling away, Spencer rubbed his nose against hers in a butterfly kiss. Trina simply giggled.

"I love you, Trina. You are the best thing that's ever happened to me."

"I love you, too. You don't know how much…"

They kiss again, but this time the kiss is more passionate, more needy. They pull each other closer to one another, their kiss never-ending. Soon enough, Trina is on her back and Spencer is on top of her. He finally pulls away and stares into her eyes.

"I wanted this to be so much more special," He confessed, knowing where this situation was heading, but not having the willpower to stop it.

"Spencer, we may not get this chance to be this close again. It's not a hotel room with flowers and music and candlelight that'll make our first time special. It's just me and you and how we feel for each other. That's what makes it special."

Spencer swallowed down the emotions that threatened to overcome him. He loved this girl so much, he really had no words strong enough to describe it. All he could do was show it by giving his whole self, body, and soul, over to her. His heart was completely hers. There were no doubts about it.

Overcome by her desire herself, Trina began to unbutton Spencer's shirt, needing to feel his bare skin against hers. Spencer too made moves to pull Trina's dress off her body before helping with the removal of his own clothes, as their lips and tongues continued to explore each other's mouths. Soon enough they were both naked. Trina remained on her back, but this time her hands had pulled him down flush against her and her legs hooked over his hips. She moaned as she felt his growing desire against her own.

Spencer again stopped kissing her to stare into her eyes. "Say the word and we'll stop now. If you're not ready, I won't be mad."

He didn't know why, but he felt as if he should at least give her an out, just in case. He always felt that sex was different for girls than it was for guys. He didn't want to take advantage of her. If she felt that he may not be the one...it'd hurt, it'd be difficult, but he'll stop...for her. He just wanted her to be happy.

"Spencer. If you don't make love to me right now, I will hurt you badly. Do you understand?" Trina's voice was hard and determined, full of a desire that Spencer had never heard in her voice before. She had obviously been thinking about making love to him for a long time now. To be so close and not get it...it was unthinkable.

"Just wanted to make sure that you're sure…"

"I am."

Spencer just chuckled and continued kissing her.

They made love right there on that blanket, behind the rock formation, hiding them from view. It was slow, passionate, yet sweet. They took their time and just explored each other and became acquainted with how their bodies felt to the touch, how each other tasted, giving each other something to hold onto to the next meeting, giving Trina a part of Spencer that would be with her during this whole ordeal that they were going through. A part that would bind them together for a lifetime.

…..

Laying in the afterglow, the sounds of the ocean nearly lulling her to sleep, Trina turned around in his arms and looked into his eyes, feeling even more connected to him than before.

"Is it like this for everyone?" She asked, her hand rubbing his cheek.

"No. It was never like this with Esme. I can't explain how it was with her. There was a quickness to it. A hardness. There definitely weren't all of these emotions that we're both drowning in now. I never felt connected to her afterward. Heck, I never felt any connection with her. Not like I've always felt with you and now that we've made love...that connection feels even stronger."

"I know...I don't know how I'm going to let you go. I want to be with you even more now."

"Trina...I don't want to go either. I wish I could keep you in my arms forever. I wish that this moment could last forever…"

To her embarrassment, hot tears appeared in her eyes. She wiped them away and hid her face against his chest. "I'm sorry...I don't mean to be such a baby….it's just...you're all I have and I can't keep you…"

Spencer's heart ached for her as he held her tighter, kissing her hair and gently rubbing her back. "You're not being a baby. It's how you feel...and you have me, always. This won't be for much longer, Trina. My father has a plan to get rid of Uncle Victor, I'm sure of it. Once he does, we'll never be a part again. I promise you that."

"It's so hard…"

"I know...but it's just for a little bit longer, alright? Until then...we'll cherish the time that we do get."

"It's not enough," Trina sniffed, wishing that if she could just hold him tighter, he'd be able to stay longer.

"I know. It's not nearly enough...but it's all we have...which is more than what we had when I was stuck in Greenland and you in Port Charles…"

"That's true. I love you, Spencer...it just hurts being kept away from you. When we first decided to be together for real...I never imagined that you'd be taken away."

"Tell me about it. I finally had gotten what I had been dreaming of ever since we met, just for my Uncle to ruin everything. It's been a nightmare. But it's been worse for you, hasn't it?"

"It has been. Losing all my family and friends, finding out the one person still in my life that I trusted couldn't be trusted...it's been a journey. But...at least I have you back...I have this back, even if it is for nearly two hours a day. It's more than I had last week. That's for sure."

Spencer opened his mouth to say something when he heard Nikolas call his name from the house.

"Damn, it must be almost time for me to go," Spencer sighed, not wanting to move an inch. How could he be expected to go about his day like nothing had happened when he had just spent the last hour or so in the arms of his Trina?

Trina forced herself to sit up and slip her dress back on and gather the items from the basket. She tried not to dwell on how the air felt cold now that she wasn't pressed up against Spencer's warm body anymore. She didn't dwell on how much she missed his arms being locked around her, keeping her safe.

"We better hurry," Was all she could manage to say.

They made their way back to the house, hand in hand. Ava and Nikolas immediately knew what they had been up to by the state of their hair.

"I'm sorry, we have to go," Nikolas apologized, knowing how hard this must be for Spencer.

"I'll see you tomorrow," Spencer faced Trina, giving her hand a squeeze, before kissing her goodbye one last time.

Trina simply watched as Nikolas ran his hands through Spencer's hair, brushing out all the sand and giving it a semblance of neatness.

Spencer and Trina's eyes met one last time before Spencer made himself walk out the door, followed by Nikolas.

"Did you two have a good time?" Ava asked, already knowing the answer, just by the state Trina was in.

"It was wonderful," Was all Trina could say, her eyes stuck to the spot where Spencer once stood.
