It's 8 pm by the time Kid and the Mayor come back. There's no scent of blood on them.

"...No luck?" Maka asks as the two make their way into the living room.

"No. I'm sorry Maka." Kid looks chest fallen. He must have really been trying to find that witch. They spent the whole day doing it too.

"She's slippery. We'll have to try again tomorrow." The mayor looks like he wants to say something but he glances at his son and decides not to. "Well it's been a long day. I'm going to take a nice shower and hit the hay! You look tired too Maka. Maybe you should get some rest too. Who knows? Tomorrow is a different day." He hums before he walks off.

It feels like he was trying to tell her something. Maybe...Maybe tomorrow he'll start training her-

"Are you okay Maka? You look very pale. Have you eaten?" Kid comes towards her. He sits on the couch, touching her forehead.

"yeah I had some food. I'm just...tired." She is but that's not all. She's been through hell today. Just seeing those golden eyes are making her feel a bit better. "Hey Kid can you hurry up and eat or do whatever you have to do...I want to go to sleep." She's already selfish. She knows he just came home. Kid can barely have any time to himself.

Maybe she wants to make him suffer with her.

"Sure. Let me get something to eat and change. We really didn't do much today so the shower this morning should be enough." He mumbles to himself as he gets up and starts making himself something to eat. Maka waits till he's done without saying anything. She follows the servant into her room to wait for Kid to get changed in his. Once again the servant prepares the air mattress...Maka wonders why Kid bothers putting it away every day if He's going to use it anyway?

Once Kid comes into the room, the Servant excuses herself.

"So...you guys did the same thing as yesterday, looking for trances of magic right? Just this time you couldn't find anything."

"Yes. This one is smart." Kid grips his fist. "...Don't worry. We will find her. We're going to get this witch and destroy this curse Maka-"

"Take me with you tomorrow."

"Maka." Kid sighs. He looks tired. "Can...we not talk about this tonight? You can't come. That's final."

"You can't tell me what to do." Maka narrows her eyes, already feeling defensive.

"Father will never train you. I won't either. It's too dangerous for you to be a witch hunter. No matter what I say, I know you won't listen to me. I...I don't want to fight with you. I'd rather...just talk to you. I haven't seen you much today..." He mumbles that last part.

Maka tries to calm herself down. She knows he's right. She's just fighting with him. It's just frustrating. He won't even consider it.

"Hey Kid...If you let me become a witch hunter I'd do anything. Just consider it. I...I need to do something. And if you're worried about it being unsafe then train me so it isn't-"

"it will always be unsafe-"

"I'm unsafe here too. Isn't it better that I'm stronger? Isn't it better that I know how to fight witches? What if this witch appears before me huh? What if you're not there? What am I suppose to do? I have no weapons. I have no training. That witch would rip me apart and I'd be useless-"

"I would never let the witch get that close to you-"

"How can you say that? You don't know the future! It could happen! What if something happens to you while you out hunting? What if you both are gone and it's just me? What am I suppose to do? Just die? Because you said it was unsafe? Kid, if that witch finds me alone...It's over. I don't know anything. What if you...can't protect me all the time? Think about it like that. Please. It would make me feel better. It would make me feel safer and besides...I didn't like these two days. How you've been gone all day. I want you closer."

Kid tenses up. That did something. He's been trying not to listen to her words but that got to him.

"If I'm a witch hunter...then we can train together. We can hunt together. Work together. I'd always be around you. The demon never bothers me as long as you're near me." Maka gets off the bed to walk towards Kid. Those eyes are wavering. "I mean this. I only feel safe when you're with me."

"M-Maka." he swallows. "B-But as I've said its' dangerous to-"

"But you'll be there. If I'm with you, you'll be able to protect me like the way you want. While you're off hunting...what if the witch attacks then?"

"..."

He's given in. She feels it.

"Kid...Please think about it seriously."

"I..." He swallows. "...I'll discuss it with father."

"Kid!" Maka perks up. She wraps her arms around him, looking into those golden orbs. "Thank you-"

"I didn't agree to anything." He tries to go stern again but Maka feels like she's won.

"Yeah, yeah I know." Maka chuckles, pulling away from him. His heart is beating too fast. It's making her have some strange thoughts again.

"I feel that was unfair saying those things to me..." Kid flushes, averting his gaze.

"What things?" Maka blinks. "Everything I said was true."

"...Even when you said you would feel safe with me?"

"Of course. I want you around all the time. I...You know I was using Crona." She bites her lip when she says his name. "I was using him to feel better. I hate everything about my life. He was something new. I felt like a different person around him. He helped me keep it together. I don't have that anymore...So maybe I'm using you now." Maka admits. She feels like he should know. "But you know...I never had to be different around you. You've always been there. I never felt safe with Crona. I feel safe with you. I'm a parasite and now I'm clinging to you Kid."

"You are not a parasite. Clinging to me...Do it all you like. Do it more. You've always been upfront with me. You can use me. To hear I'm helping you like this...That it's me and no longer him...You don't know what it does to me. That you feel safe with me and never with him..." he chuckles to himself, putting a hand to his heart. "...I'm probably the true parasite Maka."

"There's no way. You haven't taken anything from me. You do all this stuff for me...and you never want anything in return-"

"I do want something. I've...well for a long time I've wanted something from you. I..." He pauses.

"What is it? I'll give it to you." Maka doesn't back down when he looks at her with wide eyes. "It's the least I could do-"

"I don't want you...to give it to me because you feel like you should. That's the parasite in me. I just...want you to want to."

"Tell me."

"I can't." He sounds pained. He shakes his head. "...Just know I'll never think of you as using me. I'm glad...that it's me and not him. I'm also...not a good person." He averts his gaze. Just when Maka is about to say something he freezes. "What happened to your phone Maka?"

Maka looks over to the other side of the room...Her phone is broken. There's a dent in the wall too. "...I must have thrown it harder then I thought."

"Why? Did something happen?" He frowns when Maka looks away from him.

She can tell him about that at least. "...Some how...Crona called me."

"What?" Kid gasps.

"He said his mother gave him a phone. Somehow she had my number. He...was just calling to see if I was alright. I hated hearing his voice...I told him I hated him. I told him I knew that he was working with a witch. He froze up. He wouldn't tell me anything. All he did was ask for forgiveness and then hung up. I threw the phone afterwards."

"I'm sorry I wasn't here Maka. I didn't think something like this would happen. No wonder you've been looking so pale." Those golden orbs flicker with anger. "...I'll get you another phone. With a new number."

"...That would be nice. I don't want that happening again." Maka grips her fist. "...But maybe I should force myself to see him-"

"Why?" Kid cuts her off, his eyes wide.

"Because he has to know. He knows the witch. He didn't deny that the witch was the one who cursed me. Maybe I should beat the shit out of him so he'll tell me-"

"You'll be arrested before he could tell you anything." Kid relaxes. "Also...If he is working with the witch, it's not safe to be around him. The witch could attack you there...Maybe I should go and try to get some information from him." Kid thinks.

"Do you think you could? He'll shut down when he sees it's you. He really didn't like you."

"The feeling is mutual." Kid smirks. "Maybe he'll slip up...or he could just ignore me the whole time. I won't try to hurt him so it shouldn't be a problem if I question him."

"but...What if the witch attacks you?" Maka has a bad feeling. "...If you go, I need to go with you."

"That's just more risk for you. I know you don't want to see him Maka-"

"Then promise me you won't go unless I go too." Maka says sternly.

"...I won't go. I hope we won't need to go. I hope we find this witch tomorrow and she knows something."

"Me too."

"Lets get some sleep Maka. I'll discuss it with my father and then...we'll go from there. Just...don't get your hopes up okay?"

"...Okay." Maka nods. She gets back into bed and turns on her night light. Kid turns off the lights and gets in his air mattress. Feeling him here...she feels safe again.

She knows she can sleep. He won't let anything happen to her. With that she's finally able to rest.

"Are you alone?"

Maka doesn't respond to her, she just keeps her eyes closed.

"Are you alone?"

Maka sighs and opens her eyes, looking at the starless sky.

"..I guess I'm not now." She grumbles.

"Are you sure you should be resting? Do you trust that boy so much? Do you think he can really stop the demon from killing you?"

The woman chuckles.

Maka doesn't respond, she just stares up at the sky.

"Now Maka..don't you want to know more then you do?" The woman gets in front of her, reaching out her hand. "..You know about the demon..but what about who has placed it on you?Don't you want to know who the witch is that did this to you?"

"You're saying you know?"

"..Take my hand child, let me take you to light..Your mother still didn't tell you everything..she didn't even tell you what you are..How selfish of her to hold back so much information..to a girl who has been threw hell and back.."

She's trying to sound like she pities Maka but she can see it's fake.

She doesn't like this woman.

"I'm not touching you." Maka finally looks at her, glaring.

"..You may not touch me.." She pulls her hand away. "But you will."

Maka looks away from her, her eyes burning.

"Why do you fight with me?" She walks around her in a circle. "I am not your enemy, I only wish to help you..We have a common enemy you know? We can help each other out..I can tell you all you need to know Maka, I have all the answers."

Maka doesn't respond.

"Grab my hand..Trust in me..I will lead you out of this darkness before it's too late." She holds out her hand again.

Maka looks down at it.

She feels weak.

"You have gone through so much.. ..." Her voice is inviting. "Come to me child, I will take you from all your worries..I will hold you close, give you the love that you are missing out on.."

She out stretches her arms.

"Come to me so you may finally know what you are Maka..there will be no secrets, I will tell you everything."

Maka takes a step forward.

"That's it Maka..It's ok now..everything will be ok." The woman's voice is so inviting..so warm.

Maka is weak.

She takes another step closer.

" I will be there for you where your mother couldn't."

Maka stops.

"Maka?"

She takes a step back.

"..You still don't trust me..Is it Kami holding you back?.." The woman chuckles. "..Oh Maka..she's dead you know?"

Maka looks away.

"..The demon approaches." The woman's voice gets low. "Last chance, take my hand."

She holds her hand out.

Maka doesn't take it.

"Very well, have fun with him. " She disappears.

Everything changes around her..She's in that barren waste land.

Crona stands with his back towards her..The red moon casting shadows on the sand.

Why is it always him? Why can't she get away from him?

She hates him.

Maka turns to run away only for the ground to fall below her feet. She grabs the edge of the hole before she falls.

Maka dare not look down as she tries to pull herself up. She sees shoes stop by her hands. Maka looks up to meet the eyes of Crona.

The boy looks at her sadly..A tear falling down his face.

"Crona!" Maka cries for help. She can't help it. She doesn't want to die.

His eyes flash and he reaches out for her-

Suddenly that woman appears next to him, she whispers something to him and..

He stops reaching for her..

He just stares at her.

"Damn it you asshole!"

"M-Maka.." He bows his head..His tears fall down on her. "..I-I can't..I-I can't say no to her.."

"Fuck you I hate you!"

"..You know what to do.." The woman disappears.

"Yes.." He speaks motor toned as he walks closer to where she is.

Crona steps on her hand.

Maka grinds her teeth at the pain, trying to hold on.

"I-I'm sorry Maka.." The boy stomps down on her foot and she yelps. "I-I don't want to..I-I don't want to hurt you but.."

He looks up with his haunted eyes staring down at her..The tears are still falling.

"..I'm too far gone."

He steps on her hand one last time.

Maka lets go of the edge, screaming as she falls into the darkness.

The last thing she sees is Crona fall to his knees holding his face in his hands as something wraps around her..

She doesn't know what it is put it's pulling her down faster into this black hole.

Maka keeps screaming...Her throat is starting to hurt.

In the darkness, eyes stare at her as she falls..There vertical red eyes..

They all watch her as she screams out in terror.

She's about to hit the ground.

She's about to die.

"Maka! Maka!"

She feels arms on her shoulders shaking her.

Someone is screaming...

Wait...

No she is screaming..

Her eyes shoot open.

Kid is shaking her, his eyes are shaking in concern.

She keeps screaming.

"It's ok! It's ok Maka it was just a dream!" He grabs a hold of her, pulling her close to him letting her head be buried in his chest.

Her screaming slowly dies..

Her heart is pounding so hard..

It hurts.

"Oh Maka.." Kid sighs in relief as he lightly rubs her hair trying to sooth her. "..It's ok..It was just a dream.."

"I-I..." Maka tries to talk. She chokes on her words.

"..Do you want to talk about it?" His voice is soft.

"...It..it was him...Again." Maka grinds her teeth. "...He fucking...He killed me. I couldn't do anything. Damn it!" Maka holds onto Kid, gripping his arm. Probably so much so that it hurts.

"He isn't here. He won't hurt you. I'm here Maka. I'm here." He repeats that as he strokes her hair.

"you're here..." Maka Looks up into those golden eyes. She touches his cheek. He's here. She looks around. It's still pretty dark. It's only one in the morning. "...Sorry I woke you up-"

"That's alright Maka. Don't worry about that." He shushes her. "...Do you want the lights on?"

"No...Just stay with me."

"Of course." Kid keeps stroking her hair. After awhile her breathing calms and she's able to pull away from him. She still keeps a hold of his hand. She needs his warmth. She tries to think of something to say. She doesn't want to go back to sleep. She feels like Crona would be waiting for her. She wishes she would stop having dreams about him.

"..It's Monday." She mumbles. She completely forget about school. Not that it really matters anymore. She feels like it doesn't matter. "...Are you going to school? I...I don't think I want to."

"...I was actually thinking about skipping. I really don't need to attend much anymore. I've gotten all I need to graduate. I'd rather spend as much time trying to find this witch-"

"yeah. I'd rather you stay with me."

"...Then I will. I'll ask father if he can talk to the school about getting our assignments for the rest of he year...I'm sure he could work something out so we can just study from home."

"Oh yeah. The advantage of being the mayors son." Maka chuckles. Feeling lighter. She doesn't have to see those people anymore.

"Yeah." Kid laughs, smiling at seeing her brighten up. "Don't think I'll go easy on you though."

"Pssh. I'm not scared. If anything I'll be teaching you."

They grin at each other. Kid strokes her hair.

"feeling better?"

"yeah."

"Do you think you can go back to sleep?"

"...I don't know. I probably could." Kid starts to get up. Maka grabs him, keeping him there. ""Don't leave."

"I will never leave you. I was just back to the air mattress so you can try to sleep-"

"You can sleep in bed with me." She speaks bluntly.

"W-What?" Kid's face gets dark, his eyes wide. "M-Maka I-"

"Please? I want you close. I feel like...You'll stop the dreams some how if you're close. So...Sleep here with me?"

Kid looks at her a long moment..He tries to hide his blush but it's hard.

"...A-Are you sure Maka?"

"Did I stutter? Yes I'm sure."

He looks conflicted. He swallows. "O-Okay Maka. I'll make sure you have your space."

"I don't need space." Maka sighs in relief when Kid gets into the bed with her. With Kid being here...She feels safe. Even safer now that he's so close.

She hears the sheets ruffle as Kid gets under the blankets..He stays far away.

"..Thanks for this Kid.." Maka mumbles laying her head on the pillow.

"..No problem Maka." She can hear the hint of nervousness in his voice...She feels kind of annoyed he's staying so far away. She's starting to push her luck.

"Kid get closer."

"H-Huh?"

"You don't have to listen to me but I want you closer." She wonders if he will turn her down. He's hesitates but he turns around and shifts closer. She can tell he's blushing even in this darkness. She moves so she's inches away from his face. He swallows but he doesn't back away.

She wonders if...She could play with him. She feels like it's not smart since Kid said he was going to talk to his father about her being a witch hunter. He's even going so far as helping her to be home schooled so she doesn't have to go to school.

She shouldn't push it. She shouldn't do anything to disturb what they have and yet...

"...T-This is dangerous Maka." Kid mumbles, averting his gaze from her.

"What is?" Maka blinks.

"You keep inviting me to get closer to you. It's...hard on me. I'm not strong...when it comes to you. I've...I've wanted to be this close to you for a long time."

"Why didn't you say anything? I wouldn't have mind sleeping with you."

"It's...I could never ask that of you. But it's more then just sleeping next to you. I'm..." he seems to be struggling. "Maka...I have to tell you. I can't...I won't take advantage of you like this."

"Huh?" Maka blinks. Still not getting it. "What are you talking about? I asked you to get in bed with me-"

"You want me to be close to you because I make you feel safe but I...I want to be in this bed with you for a different reason. That is why I'm taking advantage of your scared state...The fact I am in your bed is a disgrace. Maka I...I don't think of you as a friend."

"Huh?" Maka's heart drops. What the hell is happening now? "What the hell are you saying? After everything you did for me...you're saying you're not my friend-"

"I love you Maka." Kid closes his eyes, as if he was waiting for Maka to punch him. "I-I've...I've loved you for awhile. At first you were my friend but then it grew. Don't you see? I'm in your bed, as a man that loves you. I've...I've had indecent thoughts. You shouldn't have me in your bed. I've been hiding this all this time but...I said I wouldn't hide anything anymore. I couldn't live with myself if I kept taking advantage of you." He starts to get up. "I-I'll sleep on the mattress-"

Maka is quick to grab his arm, stopping him from leaving. "I said I wanted you to sleep with me."

"B-But Maka don't you understand what I just said-"

"You love me." his whole body is warm. "But you're not taking advantage of me. If anything it's the other way around."

"how-" Kid gasps when Maka grabs him and throws him on the bed. She gets on top of him, smirking at that agape mouth.

"Since you've said your piece, I'm going to say mine. I've been wanting to play with you. You know I don't believe in love but...hearing you say that is still nice. Now that you're in my bed, I'm going to show you who is taking advantage of who."

She leans in and cuts off whatever he was going to say with a kiss. He freezes up but she doesn't stop. She licks at his lips, trying to force his mouth open. He resists only for a moment before he opens up, a soft groan escaping his lips.

He wraps his arms around her, pulling her flush against his body. His tongue soon takes over and invades her mouth. It's...a firm kiss. She's not use to kissing like this really. Her body is getting warm. She can feel his biceps as he holds her.

She's getting that familiar wetness in her panties.

She reaches for the buttons if his shirt. She wants to take it off and feel his skin. He pulls her away gently.

"Maka..." Kid is looking at her with glazed eyes. She swallows. "...Please just let me kiss you. If I let you...play with me like you want I'll end up taking this too fast-"

"Maybe I want to go fast." Maka watches him swallow. He looks at her with those golden orbs. He's desperate. She thought it would be nice to see him come undone. He leans in and kisses her again, pushing her against his body.

He's so strong. She can't do much against him. Not that she wants to. He's just...not letting her have her way with him.

"D-Doesn't all this kissing make you horny?" Maka breaks away from the kiss, taking a deep breath. His breathing is ragged. She shifts herself on top of him, feeling his excitement against her thigh. She shivers. He feels big.

"O-Of course it does." Kid strokes her cheek. That emotion shining through his lust. An emotion she can't understand. "But I haven't been able to do this properly. I...I want you to be mine."

"What? You want me to be your girlfriend?" Maka smirks, teasing him. Kid nods, her smirking falling at how intensely he's looking at her.

"I...I know it's not your thing but there's no way I could just...play around." He puts Maka's hand on his heart. "...Do you feel that? I can't calm down. I never thought I'd get to kiss you. Hearing you want...to mess with me gets me hot. Of course It would but I want all of you-"

"How about this then?" Maka gets off of him but stays close. "I'll be your girlfriend."

"You will-"

"Under two conditions." Maka covers his mouth when it looked he was going to kiss her again. "...You make me a witch hunter." He's frowning. "And...You let me touch you right now."

"T-Touch me how?" Kid swallows. "I-I said I would talk to father about training you...but I can't make any promises."

"Take off your shirt." Maka commands. Kid seems to think before he sits up and takes off his shirt for her He really is muscular. She could never tell in all the suits he wears. It must be all the training to be a witch hunter. He has a nice body. Abs. He has abs. Lean but fit. She touches his chest and his breath catches. She slowly runs her finger along the creases of his stomach. He's getting goose bumps. "You really have a nice body."

"Thank you." He's trying to keep his breathing in check. While he's distracted she reaches down and grabs his dick through his pants. He's so hard. "D-Don't." He groans, grabbing her wrist and pulling her away.

"You're not going to let me touch you?"

"..." He's holding back. She doesn't get it.

"I'm serious about being your girlfriend you know? So what's the problem? Or do you not want me to touch you?"

"I want you to touch me. I want you to touch me too much. I just feel like this is...too much-"

"Or are you afraid I'll see how dirty you really are?" Maka smirks when Kid gets redder. "Tell me. You've thought about this haven't you? While I was unaware you were probably in your bed at night thinking about having your way with me. Well?"

"D-Don't make me say it." He's sweating.

"Say it."

"...I...I thought of you. Yes. I tired not to but I did. I thought about you in my bed. I thought about how you would look-"

"And touched yourself?"

"...yes."

"Aren't you dirty." Maka is enjoying this too much. "Yet you don't want me touching you now?"

"I...I want to treat you right. I...I'm worried if you touch me I won't be able to hold back."

"Who said I'd let you fuck me?" Maka feels powerful when he shivers.

"I-I..."

"Then...if you don't want me to touch you...Touch yourself."

"W-What?"

"I want to see it. You said you touched yourself thinking about me. I want to see it."

"There's no l-lube in here. It's unsightly-"

"I'm sure you have some in your room." Maka smiles. "I want to see it. I'd love to see it. I promise. No matter what happens with your dad...I will be your girlfriend. I'll deal with whatever. But...I want to see you dirty if you won't let me dirty you yet."

Kid is trying to resist. Those golden orbs are so hazy. He gets up and he leaves. Maka knows he'll be back. He's not running away. He's being a good boy. He comes back, trying to conceal what he brought in the darkness.

"Why don't you turn the lights on while you're at it?"

"That's too much." He tries to hold his ground but she can see him shiver.

"Alright. I'll let you do it in the dark." She can see him just fine. She pats the bed next to her. He gets in, laying on his back. He can't look at her. He's breathing heavily. Seeing him like this...It's hot. He's a wreck and Maka has barely touched him.

He takes a deep breath before he pulls down his pants and underwear. Letting his excitement free. She wishes the lights were on. She'd like to get a better look at it but...she already felt it was impressive. His head is turned away from her as he puts some lube on his hand. He hesitates.

"Touch yourself." Maka whispers against his ear. He shivers but complies. He moans softly, not able to hold it in. Maka looks down, watching in fascination as he strokes himself. He starts off slow...but as the pleasure kicks in he starts to go faster. She pictures Kid in his room, touching himself like this, thinking of her.

He puts a hand over his mouth as if to stop the sounds from coming out.

"No. I want to hear." She grabs his wrist. He moans but lets her move his hand. She interlaces their fingers, his stroking getting faster.

"you look like it feels good. Did you think about me touching you like this? Or was it always dirtier? Like how it would feel inside me."

With a gasp, Kid cums. It happen so fast that if she hadn't glanced down she would have missed it. He aimed it towards his chest. Streaks of white all on his stomach.

"That was fast." Maka swallows.

"I...I couldn't help it." Kid melts when Maka kisses him softly.

"A deals a deal. I really liked the show. If I'm your girlfriend you better treat me right."

"Of course! Let me...Let me wash off in the bathroom. I'll be right back. I...I want to cuddle you. I'm disgusting right now."

"I don't think so but go wash up." She watches him get up and pulls his pants back up. He walks into the bathroom. Her heart is beating too fast. She tries to calm herself. It's still in the middle of the night. She'll need to get her rest. Today might be the day she can start her training.

She listens to the water run. Trying not to think of the flustered Kid washing the cum off of his stomach. She can't believe he did it. She never thought she'd see the day that Kid would make those kind of faces in front of her. She never thought of him that way. Never even would think that he thought of her that way.

That's probably why he got butt hurt over what she was doing with Crona.

She can't help to chuckle at the thought. She's starting to settle down. She gets up before Kid comes back and changes her underwear...she kind of ruined them. Now that she's all dry and back into bed...She's sure she'll be able to sleep.

Kid comes out of the bathroom, in the darkness she can make out that his pajamas have been put back together. He makes his way to the bed and gets under the covers. His hair is a mess. He probably didn't notice because there's no mirror but she can't bring herself to say anything. She doesn't want to be that mean.

There's no lust left in those eyes. Just admiration and joy. That relaxed smile...she can't help to think it's cute. He holds open his arms. He doesn't make a move towards her. The action...despite what he just did in front of her is shy.

She moves closer and lets him wrap his arms around her. He relaxes completely, his heart thudding slowly. He strokes her hair, that nice feeling and his warmth is enough to start to lure her to sleep. He doesn't have to say anything. She feels like she doesn't either.

He's holding her so tenderly he doesn't have to say anything. She falls asleep in his arms, feeling like she won't have any dreams for once.

He'll keep them away.

Maka wakes up feeling warm and without the feeling of heaviness that comes after she's had a dream. Kid is in bed with her, already awake and dressed. Maka yawns as she tries to comprehend that. Did he really get up early, get ready for the day just to come back and cuddle with her?
"Good morning." Kid smiles. It's much bigger than normal.

"What no breakfast in bed?" Maka smirks.

"Breakfast is down stairs. I talked to my father and he'd like to talk with you in more detail about witch hunting-"

"Oh shit! It's happening!" Maka sits up in the bed quickly, eyes wide.

"My father might still tell you no-"

"And if he does I'll just have to convince him." Maka feels like it's in the bag. She's not aware of Kid knows his father was basically okay with it as soon as she mention being a witch hunter. "Hm...I was just going to skip the shower but maybe I should. The better I smell, the more of a chance I got."

"If you want to take a shower I can get one of the servants to stay in there with you-"

"Oh no you don't. Obviously we're taking one together."

"What?!"

"Who said they wanted to be in a relationship? Isn't that what couples do?" Maka can't help to smirk at getting a reaction out of Kid.

"It's too soon for that." His face is heating up. "I see you like to tease me Maka but I wont' give in."

"oh?" Maka raises her eyebrow.. She's starting to want to be mean. "Fine. You won't shower with me but you can at least be in the room with me can't you? I told you I don't want someone random in there with me."

"..." He hesitates before nodding his head. "I...I can accompany you. Just to be in the room."

"You're such a square Kid." Maka rolls her eyes. She had a feeling he would be like this. Kid is the type of guy that wants to do things in order. He's probably thinking he wants to take her out on 'dates' Even though they've been everywhere together. Maka walks past him. "You won't even look at me naked but You didn't seem to mind touching yourself in front of me last night."

"T-That-" Kid coughs into his hand. Trying to think of some come back but he doesn't have anything. Maka laughs, grabbing whatever. Kid follows her into the bathroom. He's pouting. "it was...spur of the moment."

"As I'm sure all the other times were you masturbated." Maka watches him bite his lip. She loves having an advantage. She turns on the water before giving him a look. "I'm about to get undressed. Last chance to change your mind."

He turns his back to her. She can see his neck is red. She wants to be mean again. She really does. But...They have work to do. Maka gets undressed before stepping into the shower. The hot water always feels nice. She can see Kid's shadow outside of the curtain. Any fear she felt is gone. She's safe. Maka touches the necklace that's still against her chest.

The thought of telling Kid what happened yesterday pops up again but...her body shivers at the thought. She doesn't get it. She supposes for now she should just keep it to herself.

"Alright I'm getting out." Maka warns. She pulls the curtain. Kid hasn't moved from that spot. Maka chuckles to herself, drying off before putting on her closes. She finishes up getting ready for the day. She makes sure the necklace is under her shirt before she address Kid. "Ready! Time for me to be a witch hunter!"

"Maka-" Kid frowns. "...Don't get your hopes up-"

"Yeah yeah." Maka starts to run out of the bedroom. Kid catches up with her, grabbing her hand.

"Wait before we go down...I wanted to ask you something." Kid looks serious. "...can I tell father about our relationship?"

Maka blinks. To be honest she's never had a boyfriend. She had the thing with Crona but...we won't count that. Not that she wanted one to have a relationship but from watching TV and seeing other people date at school...she figures telling the parents is fine. Kid is close to his father. Maka made a deal. She has to play the part. Not that Maka cares as long as she can mess around with Kid like she did last night. "Sure."

Kid perks up. "Thank you. Just be prepared for my father's reaction." She wonders what he means by that but soon he's leading her down the stairs. It smells like pancakes. They walk into the large kitchen still holding hands. The mayor places a plate of fluffy pancakes down. Those eyes immediately lock onto their hands.

"Ohhhh now haven't you two gotten close?" The mayor hums happily.

"Father I have to tell you something." Kid straightens himself out. The mayor does the same seeing the serious look.

"What is it?" He seems to be searching his eyes for something.

"As of last night...Me and Maka have started dating-"

The mayor makes a sound. A mixed between a scream, gasp, squeak. Maka wasn't aware a grown man could make a sound like that. In a blink of an eye he's in front of her. He pulls her into a hug, squeezing her.

"Happy day! Happy day! I was hoping this would happen! You have no idea how much my son likes you-"

"Father!"

"He always said he was happy with just being friends but of course that was a lie! Oh Maka you've made me a happy man!"

"Uh...you're welcome?" Maka blinks. She can't keep up with all this.

"Now I better start preparing for your wedding-"

"Father please!" Kid begs.

"I jest! I jest!...unless?" He gives Maka a goofy smile.

"...And if I said I want to get married now?" Maka can't help to join in on the teasing.

"I'd say it shall be done! Time to make some calls-"

"Would you stop it?" Kid's face is red like an apple. Maka and the mayor laugh.

"Alright, alright. I just couldn't help it. Aww you two are so cute. I could just eat you up." The mayor lets go of Maka, sitting at the table to give them some space. "Now I'm even more motivated! I'm going to have to cut up this witch quick for the sake of my future daughter in law~"

"maybe motivated enough to make me into a witch hunter?" Maka tries. She can already feel the air shift.

"Hmm." the mayor settles down. Kid and Maka sit at the table. Maka making her plate of pancakes. Kid is already reaching over to cut them for her. He did cut her food a lot when he was taking care of her. Not that Maka cares. The mayor watches this, covering his mouth. "Hmmm..."

"Come on. I want to fight. Also...I've already told Kid this but I only feel safe when I'm close to him. Nothing happens while he's around. When he's gone...I feel like something is more likely to happen."

"mmmm!" The mayor just keeps making weird sounds. "I understand where you're coming from. Kid discussed it with me this morning...and I've come to a decision." Kid looks at him. "...I will train you to be a witch hunter-"

"Hell yes-"

"under one condition." The mayor cuts in. Kid looks confused.

"A condition father?" His eyebrows furrow.

"Tonight I want you to play bait for luring this witch out. You will watch us kill this witch and then once you see what we do and think you can do it...I will train you."

"Father that's-"

"I'll do it." Maka's green eyes don't falter when the mayor stares her down. "Whatever I need to do so I can be one of you. I'll do it."

"That's the spirit." The mayor grins. Kid swallows down what he was going to say. "Oh speaking of spirit, he called today asking if you've seen a black jewelry box? He said it's missing. He seemed pretty frantic about it."

"I haven't seen it. Not that I've been over there since my mothers passing." Maka lies. The mayor buys it.

"i thought so. I'll let him know."

"He probably lost it himself after getting drunk." Maka grunts.

"What did the principal say about us being home schooled for the rest of the year?"

"Oh yeah he was cool with it. I'll have a servant in charge of getting your assignments and turning them in for you. Speaking of which..." that blonde servant drops two large folders off on the desk. "Here's todays!"

"Not holding back huh?" Maka stares at the folders.

"After eating maybe you two could get started on that? We won't be heading out till later. It could be a little...study date?" The mayor is smiling at her again.

"Hey Kid want to have a study date?" Maka can't help to smirk when he's starting to get flustered again.

"Aww my boy having a study date in my own home! Where's the camera?!"

"Father!" Kid whines.

Maka laughs eating more of her breakfast. Kid's dad is a hoot. Maka can't remember the last time she's laughed at the dinner table like this. Maka is sure...she would enjoy this kind of family. The mayor could become her father. He's already treating her ten times better then Spirit. If she told that to the mayor now, he might really start planning a wedding.

The thought makes her laugh again.

"This is kind of cringe." Maka looks down at the sailor outfit she's wearing. Kid is currently working on her hair. Putting her hair into the pigtails like she use to do, trying to make it as even as possible. The skirt is short. This uniform is what the middle schoolers wear. "I don't look so young she would think i'm a middle schooler."

"It's worth a shot!" The mayor beams.

"And don't you think the witch is going to be sketched out that some 'young' girl is alone in the woods at night?"

"Maybe she'll think you ran away from home."

Maka is starting to think this plan won't work at all. What does she know though? These two are the witch hunters.

"There all done." Kid gets in front of her to look at her. He must be satisfied because he smiles. "Completely symmetrical."

"Cool." Maka doesn't have a mirror so she can't tell if she looks ridiculous. She feels like it.

"Maka are you sure you want to do this?" Kid asks, grabbing her hand.

"Yeah i'm sure. I just...have my doubts this is going to work."

"It will!" The mayor chimes. "Have faith!"

"Uh huh."

"That remind me." Kid pulls out a phone from his pocket. He hands it to her. "This is your new phone. The number has been changed so you shouldn't have any problems. I've already put my number in there and my fathers. There's also some numbers of the servants should you need them."

"thanks Kid but you didn't have to get me an expensive one." Maka takes the smart phone. It's the latest one.

"It was nothing Maka. I want you to have a reliable phone. Your plan is on mine so you don't have to worry about hat either."

Maka wonders if he's going over the top because they're dating or if he would have done the same if they were still friends. Knowing him, he'd probably do the same. He's hopeless.

"Alright lets head out!" the mayor claps. Maka follows them out of the house. They head to this shed. It's filled with...stuff. Clothes, tools but mostly axes. Kid and the mayor grab a couple each. They also grab rope and duck tape...and knifes. This is going to be a crazy night.

"Do I get anything?"

"Well this is just you watching. You'll be standing back once the witch comes into view. I wouldn't want to give you a weapon and then you try to attack the witch yourself." The mayor hums.

"Alright point taken." Maka follows them towards the car. "Do you guys really wear suits to take down witches?"

"We like to hunt in style." The mayor chuckles.

"we have clothes on underneath. A plain white shirt and these pants are made to be more flexible." Kid explains. "Sometimes I don't take off my suit jacket."

"Huh...Will I get a suit? Or can I just wear...I don't know...like a white tank top and shorts? I feel like it's important to be fast."

"We'll talk about that if you pass this trial."

Maka isn't worried about that. She doesn't care what witches look like. She doesn't care that they're about to take a life. She won't back down. She will avenge her mother.

The drive to the forest they're going to takes about 30 minutes. The ride is silent. Kid is holding her hand, rubbing her with his thumb as if to comfort her. The air is pretty tense. They must be getting prepared to work. She wonders how this will go down. She hopes it won't be a disappointment.

"Alright Maka you walk in the forest first. Don't worry. We'll be close behind. We just need to have some space so the witch doesn't see us with you."

"Okay isn't there anyway I should act?"

"Hmm...I think just act normally. I'm sure you'll draw her out."

"If you think so." Maka blinks when Kid hugs her.

"I won't let you get hurt." He reassures

She hugs him back, taking in his warmth for a moment. She pulls away and grins. "Don't worry already. I'll be fine. I'll show you I'm ready for this."

Kid nods his head and tries to smile. She knows he's freaking out on the inside.

"I'm off." Maka nods at the two before she walks into the forest. She walks at a normal pace just like the mayor told her to. It's hard to see. The air is chilled by the night. The full moon hangs in the sky, casting shadows that seem to be reaching for her. Maka stops when she hears a twig snap to her left. The others should be behind her not beside her.

Maka glances into the trees, trying to make out any movement. She doesn't see anything but the air is starting to get dense around her. Is this a witch...or is the demon about to appear? She picks up her pace but the faster she goes, the more sounds she hears to her left. Something is coming towards her. Stalking her.

Her necklace is starting to heat up on her chest. As if it's warning her. When she hears a growl near her ear, she can't help it. She books it. Her necklace is almost burning her at this point. The mayor told her not to move too fast but there's no way she can't move when she felt...something right next to her.

Finally she makes it out into the clearing the mayor was talking about. She stops running to turn around, scanning the area for anything that stands out. Not that she wants to see the demon. Not that she wants to see the demon but her necklace hasn't calmed down. It's close.

Maka feels her body freeze up when she notices that the leaves by the trees are moving. As if something invisible is walking through them. It's coming right for her. Her teeth chatter. She tries to hide her fear but she can't. She's just making it stronger damn it-

"What's the matter child?" Maka freezes when she hears a voice behind her. The leaves stop moving. She turns around. A young girl stands there. She looks like she's Maka's age. Maybe even younger. She's dressed in a cute pink dress and her brown hair is in curls. She's like a doll.

"Child? Aren't you one to talk." Maka can't help to say. This...has to be the witch. If Maka didn't know any better there's no way she would think of this kid as a witch. Yet there is something that feels...off about her. Could she...be the one who cursed her? Who cursed her mom?

"Oh you flatter me!" She giggles, covering up her red lips. "Now...What are you doing out here? All by yourself? You seemed to be running from something." She takes a step forward.

Maka wonders if she should take a step back. She moved a bit faster then Kid and the mayor thought she would. They might still be behind.

"I thought I saw something in the forest. So I ran. I...I ran away from home. My father he..." She decides to go with the story the mayor gave her.

"Aww. There's nothing in this forest but you and me and some animals!" She giggles, taking another step forward. "If you have no where to go...why don't you come with me?" She holds out her hand.

"...Why would you offer me a place to stay?" Maka looks at her hand.

"I just want to help you. It's dangerous to be out here alone." The girl's lips are starting to curl. She takes another step. She's close. She's reaching out now. Magic is channeled through the hands. Will it be over if she touches her?

"I think I'll take my chances." Maka takes a step back.

"I don't think you have a choice." Those eyes gleam. She takes a step forward and reaches out. There's a swish sound and right before her eyes, a ax hits this girl right on her wrist. It completely cuts her hand off before it keeps going getting stuck in a tree.

The girl screams as her blood squirts out of the stump, the blood getting all over Maka's clothes.

"Maka get back!" Kid yells at her. She doesn't waste any time. She jumps back as far as she can, catching The mayor already on the girl. She tries to say something through her screams but he's already chopping off her other hand. Kid gets to work on wrapping rope around her arms and legs. While he's doing that the mayor puts duck tape on her mouth. They got her.

Shes bleeding out of the stumps for hands but she won't die so quickly. Maka stays back by the trees when kid kept telling her to move farther back.

"Now we are going to ask you some questions." The mayor hums. The witch is still screaming under the duck tape. The mayor grabs her by the hair and tilts her head back. "Do you curse the young girls you hunt?"

The witch shakes her head frantically. When the Mayor digs his fingers into her stumps she still shakes her head and sobs. He rips off the duck tape. "If you try anything I'll cut out your tongue okay?"

"Where are the girls you hunt?" Kid asks.

"...Dead of course." The witch grits out. "Looking this young...there's a price that needs to be paid."

"You never curse any of them?" The mayor asks again.

"N-No! There's no point. What...what is this? You damn...witch hunters-"

"Are there any witches around here that deal or specialize in curses?"

"Why would i-" The mayor sticks his knife into her stump and scrapes against he bone. "Oh g-god! Stop!" She screams.

"Answer." The mayor doesn't let up.

"They're a-are witches like that but...I don't know if they're around here. I..I don't know anything." The witch takes deep breathes. She seems to notice Maka. "...Is it that girl? The one who is cursed-"

"Don't look at her." Kid stomps down on her foot. She grind her teeth but she doesn't scream.

"If...If a witch has cursed her...it makes more sense the witch would be long gone from here. Why stick around?...The witch would know regardless if the cursed killed the target. You're wasting your time-"

"the curse is progressing quickly. That means the witch is around." the mayor cuts in.

"Well I don't know shit." The witch snarls. Suddenly the witch shouts something. Magic propels her forward till she's right in front of Maka. The witch is still tied and bleeding out. It seems that took most of the fight out of her. She opens her mouth to say something to her.

"Maka!" Kid cries.

Maka doesn't' hesitated.

She kicks her down and steps on her throat. The witch looks up at her with panicked eyes. Did she really think Maka was going to let her do what she pleases?

"Hey...are you sure you're not the one? You didn't curse me? Or my mother?" Maka's eyes darken as she puts more pressure on her trachea. The witch can only wheeze. She tries to shake her head. "Did you really think you could escape if you got close to me? You bitch...don't look down on me. I'll kill every last one of you."

Maka stomps down. She feels the bone in her throat collapse. The witch gasps, unable to breathe. It only takes a second for Kid to be next to her. He swings his ax down and cuts off her head.

"Maka are you alright?" Kid grabs a hold of her, looking into those darkened eyes. "Maka?" Kid tries again when she starts to crackle.

"S-Sorry i'm fine. That just..." It felt good. She calms herself.

"Good job Maka! You were great!" the mayor praises as he puts gasoline on the witch before setting her on fire. The smell of burning flesh is disgusting. "I think you'll make a fine witch hunter! You passed."

"Yes! I did it!" Maka perks up, grabbing Kid's hands. "I'm going to be one of you. I won't slow you down."

Kid seems hesitant but he smiles when the light has come back to Maka's eyes. "Congratulations Maka. I'm glad to have you by my side."

"Aww my son and his girlfriend...witch hunters together." The mayor gushes.

Under the full moon, with the witch burning by her feet...Maka finally is accepted. Her training for being a witch hunter is finally going to begin.

She can't help to be...excited. She's a step closer to getting revenge.
