"You're not getting away!" Maka snarls, chasing this witch deeper into the forest. She knows she's going to hear it from Kid about separating from the group but there's no way she's letting this one get away. This is suppose to be her kill.

"I want to live! Leave me alone! I've abandoned my sisters so just let me live!" This witch is begging.

"Not a chance." Maka's heart is beating a mile a minute. She starts to feel giddy. A sensation that feels wrong but oh so right. "How do I know you're not working with Medusa?"

"I t-told you! I don't know anything about a curse or M-Medusa!" The witch pleads. "She wouldn't work with such low ranking witches like us!"

Maka catches up enough to swing her scythe. She aims for the legs, slicing them off below the knee as if they were nothing. The witch screams. It must have shocked her so much that when she fell she ended up biting her own tongue off.

"You're doing my work for me." Maka sighs, seeing the witch's mouth fill up with blood. Her eyes are unfocused. She's not going to get any more information from her. Not that she had anything to offer.

Another dead end.

It's been two weeks since she found out about Crona's escape...and that his horrible mother is a witch. The most likely suspect of the curse as well. Once The mayor sent out the message of who they were looking for and their description, the witch hunters closest to their town started pushing more witches into the mayor's territory. Then they pounce on them, try to get information out of them before killing them. All the witches so far haven't been useful. They've come across ten witches, including the three they've hunted tonight. Out of the ten this is only her second kill. The mayor and Kid are too fast and good when there's only one witch. They haven't been all that strong either. Stronger than the first one she faced but not much more.

Maka's thoughts are broken when the witch starts gurgling. She's starting to choke on her own blood. Maka's lips start to twitch. "Here. I'll put you out of your misery." Maka grips her scythe, slicing off the witch's head. She doesn't stop there. That giddy feeling is coming back and soon she's full on laughing as she hacks away at this corpse.

By the time she comes to, the witch is nothing but meat. A mash of organs, bones and blood. She's covered in it again. She takes deep breathes, trying to calm her heart.

"Maka!" She tenses when she hears Kid's voice. He rushes towards her, covered in blood himself. She's waiting for him to say something about the way she killed the witch. She's been getting more unhinged with each witch she kills. But he doesn't say anything. He just wraps his arms around her, looking at her with those concerned eyes. "You can't run off on your own! What if there was another witch in hiding? That was extremely reckless!"

"It worked out okay though. I couldn't let her get away. She might have went back and warned the others about us." Maka averts her gaze. "...I guess you two finished up the others?"

"Yes. Father is burning them now." Kid looks her over. "Are you hurt anywhere?" He probably can't tell because she's covered in so much blood.

"No. I'm fine." Maka sighs when Kid starts cleaning off her face again with a cloth. "What about you?"

"Nothing to report. Our hunts have been going quite smoothly."

"Yeah since they've all been so weak. You and the Mayor are tearing through them like they're nothing." Maka huffs. "...Did you learn anything from the other two witches?"

"...Nothing. What about you?"

"Nothing." Maka is starting to get restless. How many witches will she have to go through before she hears anything about Medusa...or Crona?

"Don't lose hope Maka. We've been making a lot of progress with the help of the other witch hunters. Sooner rather than later we will find a witch that knows something." Kid reassures.

"Yup Yup. Kid's right as always." The mayor comes out of the forest suddenly. Maka can smell smoke. He must have already stomped the ashes. "In the process we're killing so many witches so quickly. It's a win a win in my book."

"That's true." They are going through them in such a short amount of time.

"Hoo boy you've really gone to town on this one." The mayor hums as he walks over to the mangled corpse, setting it on fire. "I love your enthusiasm Maka but be sure you don't lose your mind in the process of letting out your hate."

"...I won't lose my mind." Maka knows the mayor is speaking the truth. It felt a bit like madness as she was hacking away at that witch. She has to be careful. She's been feeling the demon's presence more often. Maybe it's from her enjoying these killings but...she feels like it got worse ever since she found out Crona is on the loose.

She feels Kid grab her hand. She sighs in relief feeling that warmth. She feels like if Kid is here, she won't lose it. No matter what.

Once they wrap up the hunt they head home. Maka and Kid take showers separately, the blonde servant staying with her in the bathroom. After a hunt they don't like taking showers together. To be honest, they haven't been intimate since that day. Maka has been too stressed. Kid must sense it because he doesn't try anything. He just holds her like he always does. He treats her with kindness. She truly feels like she doesn't deserve him-

Maka freezes watching as thick blood starts going down her drain. Blood in the shower is normal after a hunt for her but she just finished cleaning off all the blood. This blood looks fresh. She looks down at her hands.

They're covered in nasty welts. Her flesh is falling off the bone and getting sucked into the drain. Her necklace is burning but all she can see is her decaying body. Maka screams, in her panic she ends up slipping and falling down in the shower. She hits her back hard.

"Lady Maka!" The servant pulls the curtain. She turns off the water and helps her sit up. She grabs a towel and wraps her up in it. "Are you alright? That sounded like a nasty fall."

"I-I'm fine." Maka winces. "But my skin-" Maka freezes. Her skin is okay. She's nice and clean.

"Your skin lady Maka?" The servant...Cassie asks. She touches where Maka was looking with confusion. "You are okay."

"I...I'm just seeing things. Sorry about that." The servant helps her stand. Maka gets out of the tub and drys herself off. The servant averts her eyes as she gets dressed. Her heart is hammering in her chest. It's...the curse is getting stronger.

"Should I get the master of the house?" Cassie asks once she leaves the bathroom.

"He wouldn't be able to do anything to help me." Maka swallows. She gets into bed, rubbing her arms. "I'll talk to Kid."

"...Please take it easy lady Maka. Witch hunting isn't easy. You've been going out on a lot of hunts. I'm sure it can put a lot of mental strain on you. Maybe you should take a break from the hunting-"

"No way. I won't stop. Don't suggest that again."

"Forgive me." Cassie does a slight bow. Kid comes into the room. She's quick to leave.

"Kid...It's getting worse." Maka swallows. Kid sits next to her on the bed. He takes her hands in his.

"The curse?" Kid frowns when Maka nods. He squeezes her hands. "What happen?"

"I'm seeing things now. Not the demon but...he made me hallucinate that my skin was falling off while I was showering. It freaked me out so much. It looked so real. It hasn't been able to do that before." Maka leans into Kid's chest. He wraps his arms around her. She sighs in relief.

"I'm sorry you had to see that. It's not real Maka. You're okay." Kid soothes, stroking her hair. "We should tell father."

"You can but it's pointless Kid. He can't do anything to help me. He's doing all he can do. This is something I have to be strong against but the demon is still able to scare me. I'm too weak."

"Anyone would be scared with seeing their skin fall off Maka. You can't just shut off your emotions. It's not possible. You're not weak. You're one of the strongest people I know."

"I wish I could just shut them off. The demon is having a field day with me." Maka mumbles, closing her eyes from how he's running his hands through her hair. "...I think I want to turn in early Kid."

"Of course. But shouldn't you eat something Maka?"

"I'm not hungry. You can go down and get something for yourself. Just have that servant come back in."

"...I'll make sure you get to sleep first." Kid lays her down in the bed, throwing the blanket over them. He gives her a soft kiss. "A kiss, hoping you dream of me."

"I hope I dream about you too." Then she'll feel at ease. He hums to her, stroking her, calming her down. He really is too kind.

It's that kindness that puts her to sleep once again as he's been doing.

Maka is running. She's terrified. What is chasing her? Why is she in the forest? She just keeps running knowing that if she stops she'll be dead. The forest is filled with vertical eyes staring her down. Laughing in the distance sounds like it's coming from all around her.

She doesn't have her scythe. She's weaponless. Is it a witch? Is it the demon? Is it...Crona? Maka doesn't know but her heart feels like it's about to give out.

She trips over a stick, falling hard on her stomach. It knocked the breath right out of her.

"Now, Now Maka there's no need to run. You know you can't escape me." She knows that voice. She turns her body, her eyes wide when Kid comes out of the forest. He has his ax. She should feel relief from seeing him but she feels like she's about to scream. "You've just been doing as you please. It's time for you to pay for your sins."

"What...What are you talking about Kid?" Maka can't move her body. It won't listen to her. He's getting closer.

"You know what I'm talking about. It's time for me to give your a proper death befitting a witch." Kid's eyes are deranged as he lifts up his ax.

"I'm not a-" Maka stares to protest but Kid swings down his ax without hesitation. It cuts through her right wrist. She screams, holding her stump arm, staring at Kid with wide eyes. "Are you crazy I'm not-" he cuts off her other hand.

It hurts so bad. All she can do is scream. It becomes muffled as he puts tape over her mouth.

"Hush now witch." He licks the tape over her mouth. Those eyes hold no emotion. There's no affection. He stares at her with unfiltered hate. "Here before you go I'll give you a little present." He starts taking off his pants.

This is a nightmare. This isn't real. None of it is. Kid would never harm her like this. It's a nightmare nothing more-

He flips her on her stomach. His breath is hot against her ear. "I'll give it to you raw Maka and I'll be sure to cum inside."

She tries to disassociate from this dream but the pain as she bleeds out is too real and he's thrusting so hard into her saying horrible things. Things that this Kid means. He hates her with everything he has. She wants to die. It hurts so much.

When she feels something warm inside of her, she hears Kid pick up the ax once again. He slings it down on her neck. It was a halfhearted swing so it only goes half way through. He has to swing again.

Then finally she's dead.

Maka wakes up screaming. It's blood curdling and it wakes Kid up immediately next to her.

"Maka! Maka you're okay! I'm here-" Seeing Kid in the darkness makes her scream more. She pushes him off like her life depends on it and falls off the bed. She groans. She had hit her head on the floor. "Maka!" Kid gasps, getting off the bed to her aid.

"No! You're going to kill me!" her brain is too fuzzy. She doesn't want to witness that again.

"I would never Maka! It's me. Kid." He reaches over and turns on the lamp to have more light in the room. He cups her cheeks, forcing her to look into his eyes. When she sees those golden orbs looking at her in concern...that affection there that was gone in that dream...Maka realizes that this is real. What she just experienced was fake. Kid...He would never treat her like that. He would never do that to her.

"Kid..." She feels tears fall down her face. His eyes widen and he pulls her into his chest tightly. He starts to rock her. She feels like a baby but it only makes her sob more.
"I'm here. I won't let anyone hurt you." He soothes, his words said against her ear. After a while, Maka stops crying. She wipes her face on Kid's shirt. He just keeps stroking her hair, holding her on the floor. Once she's settled down he pulls her away so he can look at her face. He wipes the tears from her cheeks with his fingers. "You fell hard. Did you hurt yourself?"

"I hit my head but...I think it's fine." Maka mumbles, sniffling. Ugh. She hates this. Kid feels around her head. He must not feel anything because he sighs, laying his head against Maka's.

"...You must have had a terrible dream. Was it the demon Maka?"

"...He made me experience something truly horrible." Maka swallows. She doesn't want to talk about it. She doesn't want to tell Kid she had a dream of him...killing her and raping her. If she said that, he'd never touch her that way again. She knows how worried he gets about her. She should know. She should have been able to wake herself up from that dream. The demon was using all these witch hunts to get to her head. "I really don't want to talk about it."

"That's alright. Just know that I'm here. You can tell me anything." Kid smiles at her. They both tense when the Mayor suddenly busts into the room. He must have heard her screaming. He already has his ax ready. Maka freezes when she sees it but Kid hugs her closer. The mayor scans the room before his eyes fall on the two. "it's alright Father. She had a nightmare...because of the demon."

The mayor frowns, seeing how Maka is still trembling and Kid is holding her close.

"...It's getting much worse." The mayor's face is serious. "Maka maybe you should take a break from the hunts-"

"No!" Maka shakes her head quickly. "I'd go crazy faster if I couldn't hunt." She's not going to let the demon stop her. She bets it made her see that to scare her off of witch hunting. They're getting close to their witch. "I think...he's biting back because what we're doing is effective."

"Maybe." The mayor watches Kid help Maka stand back up. "One more hunt Maka. If I think it's what's making you worse you're going to take a break and stay home from the hunts."

"...Alright.' Maka takes a deep breath. She sits back on the bed with Kid.

"We normally jog in an hour but...are you feeling up to that?" The Mayor asks.

"Yes. I'm fine." Maka says firmly to convince the mayor and herself. He nods his head.

"Then I'll see you soon." He leaves the room so Kid and Maka can be alone.

"Are you sure?" Kid asks, he wraps his arms around her.. "You're still shaking Maka. There's no shame in taking a break-"

"I won't take a break!" Maka snaps. "Kid I know my limits. Stop setting them for me."

"...I'll trust you Maka but I'm with father. If you are getting worse because of the training and the hunts...I'll make sure you stop."

Maka huffs, feeling angry. She shouldn't be angry at Kid. He just cares about her but she can't keep her emotions in check. She lays down in the bed,, turning her back towards him.

"Maka-" He puts his hand on her shoulder.

"Don't touch me!" Maka surprises herself. She didn't mean to have so much bite. It came out as soon as she felt his warmth. He retracts from her like she's on fire. "...Sorry. Just...Don't touch me." Maka bites her lip.

This isn't what she wants. She loves Kid's touch. It's like something else is over taking her. She shouldn't be afraid. She should know yet she's acting like this. She wants Kid to hold her in his arms. She wants that comfort but instead-

"I won't.' Kid says. He tried to hide it but she heard that hurt. Maka feels like she's about to laugh. Something is wrong with her. He doesn't touch her but he stays next to her the whole hour while they wait to go jogging. The whole time she bites into her lip to stop herself from laughing...or crying.

She can't tell what her body is going to do anymore.

"The witch should be close. You two stay sharp." The mayor looks back at them before leading them deeper into the forest.

"Right." Kid says. He's walking next to her but he feels far away. It's been a couple of days since she lashed out at him but the air between them hasn't gotten better. She knows it's her fault. She just can't bring herself to say anything to him about it. They sleep in the same bed but he no longer holds her. She told him not to touch her and he hasn't.

Maka wishes she could swallow her pride. She wants to touch him again. She want to go back to how they were. It was that stupid dreams fault. She's letting the demon win.

They make it out into a clearing and there stands a woman. She was waiting for them. Right away Maka can tell this witch isn't like the others they've seen. Her hair is a glowing white and her eyes dark gray.

"Three witch hunters. You're the three that have been slaughtering the smaller witches these past weeks." The woman hums. "I won't let you do as you please." Her hands are starting to twitch.

Maka takes a step forward. "Witch do you know anything about Medusa? Or this cursed placed on me?"

The witch blinks, staring at her closely. Maka points her scythe in her direction but she just stares at her. "Curious." The witch says with a smirk. "That curse is cruel and it's taking a firm hold on you. All I know of the curse is what I see while looking at you. You are losing witch hunter."

Maka flinches. She's right and it's pissing her off. "I'm not losing to shit-" Maka gets ready to charge her. Kid grabs her arm, stopping her. "Hey-" she growls.

"Stay back." The mayor gives her a look. Maka takes a deep breath. She rips her arm from Kid's grip, not looking at him. The mayor caught that but he just looks forward. "Tell us if you know anything about Medusa."

"Medusa? Now there's a name I haven't heard in a while." The woman chuckles. "The girl has no hope. Have you been killing so many of my kind trying to save this piece of trash? The demon is going to devour her. He's already chipping away at her sanity. I see you've tried to slow it down but witch hunters are useless when it comes to magic." She crackles.

"! Everyone move!" The mayor suddenly shouts. They move when he told them to in different directions, just before they would have been killed by spears made of rock.

"Damn. You are sharp." The witch clicks her tongue, staring down the mayor. She smirks when he rushes her. "but not sharp enough."

She suddenly disappears. She reappears right in front of Maka.

"That's a mistake bitch!" Maka crackles, swinging down her scythe. The witch dodges but she was able to slice her thigh. It's nothing more then a scratch though. "Damn." Maka follows after her trying to get a better hit.

"You are something. You weren't aiming to kill me there. You wanted to make me suffer." The witch chuckles, moving out of the way of her swings. She disappears again. Like mist. That mist surrounds all of them. It's so thick she can't even see her hands.

"Maka!" Kid calls for her. She opens her mouth to call for him but it gets stuck in her throat. Her necklace is on fire. She can hear the sound of axs swinging but she doesn't know if it's Kid or the mayor. Soon the mist becomes so thick she can't hear Kid yelling for her anymore.

That witch appears before her again.

"You are the weakest out of the three so I'll start with you first. You've caught my eye." The witch is smirking at her. "The way you fight isn't efficient. You love to cause pain. I think...I understand you more then I can the others. We're a lot a like-"

"I'm nothing like you." Maka gets her scythe ready. "Now hold still so I can chop you into pieces!" Maka swings her scythe once more. The witch's body becomes like mist again, her scythe just going through her. She moves till she reforms to her left. Maka swings again but it doesn't do anything. Her necklace is throbbing. She keeps swinging her blade around but no matter what she does she can't cut her.

"We both love making our enemies suffer. You don't' kill witches for the sake of humans. You do it for your own pleasure-"

"I do it to get revenge for my mother!' Maka growls when the witch starts to run away. Maka chases after her.

"You'll never get revenge! You're going to die!" She crackles. Maka keeps running after her. She won't let her get away. She will rip her apart.

"Maka!" Kid calls for her but she can't hear him. She's screaming and swinging her scythe around at thin air. He takes a step towards her only having to jump back before she slices him in half.

"Kid stay away from her!" The mayor grinds his teeth, seeing how Maka's eyes are hazy. He glares at the witch who is laughing to herself. "What spell did you use?" In that moment when the Witch got past him and rushed towards Maka...She did something to her that made her like this.

"Just something that uses her madness against her. The fact it's so effective means the demon is really working into her soul." The witch smirks. Kid takes a step froward, a rage filling him.

"Release her now" Kid growls. "So help me witch I'll make you wish you were never born!"

"Aww. Getting so mad over a girl who doesn't even want to touch you." she smirks when Kid flinches. "She probably hates you-"

"Don't listen to her Kid. She's trying to get under your skin." The mayor steps in. "Now shut up witch. You're time is up-"

"Should you be worried about me. Don't look now but that girl is running into the forest."

Kid turns his head, his eyes widen when Maka is indeed running into the forest away from them. She's yelling things that don't make sense.

"Father!" Kid looks at him, his golden eyes shaking.

"...We always go for the witch first. She's trying to separate us. We kill her and then we go for Maka."

Kid bites his lip. That's how he's been trained. He knows he needs to focus but he can't. Maka is running away from him. What if she falls off a cliff? Or trips and falls on her scythe? What if the witch is luring her away on purpose- "I can't father!" Kid turns and takes off towards Maka.

"Kid!" the mayor doesn't take his eyes off the witch but his son could hear the worry in his voice.

"Looks like it's just you and me." the witch chuckles, gathering up magic.

"Honestly. You don't know what you got yourself into." The mayors eyes darken. It only take a second before they lunge at each other.

Maka finally catches up to the witch. She's smirking at her as she catches her breath.

"You're fast I will give you that." She chuckles. "But you tire out easily. Do you really think a weak witch hunter like you could win?"

"I will. I have to win. My mother...is counting on me."

"Is that your excuse? With that kind of smile on your face?"

Maka can't see her face but she knows she's smiling. She chuckles, thinking about her scythe finally tasting flesh and bone.

"You are going mad. I'm going to kill you and then I'll go after your little boyfriend."

Maka freezes at the threat.

"Or maybe you don't care for him? You've been pushing him away. Maybe you like making him suffer too. Just like the witches."

"No...I...I don't want him to suffer."

"You're still smiling." The witch crackles. "I bet he's cried over you pushing him away. I bet that makes you happy. He's strong, I bet you would love tearing him apart from the inside out-"

"You're wrong!" Maka snarls. "Kid he's..." He is her rock. After this she needs to come clean. She needs to get back to being close to him again. She doesn't want him to suffer. That's not who she really is.

"Ughhh Die already!" Maka growls, swinging down her scythe. This time the witch doesn't move. She doesn't block. Maka slices her right in half. Maka laughs, slicing off her limbs, with the last slice being her head.

Finally the mist clears and she can get a better look at her kill-

Maka freezes. Her brain just stops. She stares at the corpse that is suppose to be the witch. It's not. It's Kid. He lays there with his head chopped off, a silent scream stuck on his face. His stomach is sliced with his intestines falling out. His limbs are scattered.

Seeing this, Maka drops her scythe and falls to her knees. She screams. She screams so loud it hurts her throat. "Kid!" She calls his name, grabbing his severed head trying to put it back on his body as if that would do anything. She's lost it. She can't stop screaming.

"Oh my." Maka doesn't even look at that voice. It's not one she recognizes. It's a woman. She hugs Kid's head closer to her body. "What has Joy brought me today? A broken witch hunter?" She clicks her tongue when Maka keeps screaming. "Stop that!" She snarls, smacking her across the face. It gets Maka to stop. She finally looks up at this woman. Clearly a witch. One she hasn't seen before. She's smirking at her.

"That's better. My what beautiful eyes you have. I'm sure you won't mind if I take them?" She's reaching towards her face with those long nails. She should do something but she feels like she can't. Kid is gone. What's the point? Revenge right? Yet she can't do anything.

Suddenly there's a flash of black. The woman screams as the hand that was reaching for her is cut off. She jumps back before the attacker could finish her off.

"You filthy witch! Keep your hands off of her!" It's Kid. He's here in front of her with his ax. That can't be. She must be seeing things. She watches with unfocused eyes as Kid and this witch fight. He dodges and cuts. He moves so fast and with such skill. The witch realizes she's not getting anywhere with Kid so her eyes turn to her. She sends a blast of magic towards her.

"Maka move!" Kid screams at her. She just stares at it. Is this...real?

"Move!" A voice yells at her from her mind.

Maka rolls without much thought, dodging the attack. Soon the witch is on her though. She should do something right? Her mind is so fuzzy. Maka looks down at Kid's head...only to see that it's a deer's head. She looks over at Kid's corpse...it's clearly a deer's body. She's been screaming and crying, clutching a deer's head? This whole time? What is...going on?

The witch is about to strike her. Her hand is glowing red. It looks like a blade of magic. She tosses the deer's head at her but she just slices through it. Now she's about to cut through her.
"I won't let you!" Kid is in front of her. He growls in pain when the witch slices into his shoulder, cutting his chest in the process. "Ugh!"

Seeing Kid's blood, seeing him in pain finally snaps her out of this haze. "Kid!" She grabs her scythe. The witch is focused on Kid trying to swing his ax while wounded that she doesn't react fast enough to Maka's attack.

She cuts her head clean off. The witch takes a couple steps back before crumpling.

"Kid!" Maka puts pressure on his shoulder. She feels like crying all over again when he smiles at her, those eyes so gentle.

"Thank god Maka...you're back." He touches her cheek. "I'm glad I made it on time."

"I'm not! You got hurt because of me. You should have left me to rot. I've been...awful." She bites her lip.

"I will always protect you. I told you. There's no way I could have left you. I love you." Kid wipes her tears. "...And I'm just as awful...being happy that you're crying over me."

"No. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for how I've been the past two days. I don't want that. I want to be close to you. I want you to touch me. I don't want you to get hurt. If I were to lose you-"

"I'm okay Maka. This wound isn't life threatening." He soothes. Those eyes look glossy too. Her words seem to have taken a weight off of his shoulders. "I want to touch you too. I wanted to apologize. I wanted to make amends but I was worried I'd make it worse."

"You didn't do anything. It was all me." Maka sighs in relief when the wound starts to slow down in bleeding.

"The demon is making you suffer. I don't blame you for anything." Kid gives her a look. Maka leans down for him and kisses him softly. When they pull away the color is back to his face.

"What happen?!" The mayor rushes over when he saw his son on the ground.

"I-" Maka frowns.

"The witch got the better of me. I slipped up father." Kid says but Maka knows the mayor doesn't buy it. He takes in the scene around them. The deer corpse, the dead witch. He looks down at Kid's wound. He sighs when he sees it's not too bad.

"..." the mayor doesn't say anything as he sets the witch on fire. "Can you walk Kid?"

"Yes. Maka can I lean on you?"

"of course!" Maka helps him get up. Kid leans on her shoulder as they make their way back to the car. The car ride is tense. She knows the mayor is angry with her. It's understandable. Kid explained to her that she was attacked with a spell that made her go nuts. All that witch stuff in the mist was fake. That witch had her playing in her hands.

If Kid didn't come she would have been dead, still clutching that deer's head thinking she had killed him.

"Father I can stitch myself." Kid says once they get home. The mayor had set him down in the kitchen table and told him to take off his shirt.

"No I'll do it." The mayor gets to work disinfecting the wound. Maka watches closely as the Mayor threads a hooked needle...before he starts sowing Kid's wound together. Kid bites into his shirt to stop himself from grinding his teeth too hard but by the looks of it...he seems use to it. It doesn't take the Mayor long to stitch him up. He takes a deep breath when it's done.

"...Kid you need to rest while this is healing. Once it's healed decently we'll go back into hunting." The Mayor locks eyes with Maka. "...You need to take a break from hunting. The witch made you lose it and that must have made the curse stronger. It's not safe for you-"

"But I-"

"We will hunt down Medusa. We will break this curse off of you and once that is resolved you can hunt again-"

"I have to be the one to avenge my mother-"

"And what if you lose it again? What if you can't control yourself and you hurt me? Or if you hurt Kid? I must protect my son. If you put yourself into danger he will put himself in danger trying to protect you. Do you need to avenge your mother so much that you would put my son on the line?"

"Father!" Kid glares at him when Maka tensed.

She grips her fist. She knows he's right. Kid could have been seriously hurt. She lost it and couldn't keep it together. Yet she can't own up to it.

"...I'll...I'll do anything." The mayor is looking at her coldly. "...But I don't want Kid to get hurt again. I'll...stand down but I'd like to be the one to kill her..."

"...If it's possible."

Maka swallows, trying to control this emotion welling up inside of her.

"Maka can you help me up to our room?" Kid asks, grabbing her hand.

Maka nods, helping him stand, letting him lean on her. She can't look at the Mayor anymore. She helps Kid up the stairs into their room. "Do you want to take a shower?" Maka asks. They're both still covered in blood. They're tracking it everywhere but she can't care about that. The servants are will versed in getting rid of blood stains.

"That sounds nice." Kid nods his head. She helps him into the bathroom. She lets him sit on the toilet lid as she gets the water running. She takes off her clothes that are drenched in blood and throws them into the hamper.

"Here let me." Maka stops him when Kid started working on his pants. She doesn't want him bending too much. Kid stands up and Maka pulls off his pants for him.

"Thank you." Kid smiles as she helps him into the shower. She gets in with him. The drain is swallowing blood once again.

"This isn't anything. You've cared for me a bunch of times. This time it's my fault too." Maka gets soap on her hands before she starts washing Kid's body. He seems to be enjoying the attention.

"I don't blame you. Father was going too far-"

"No he's right. I fucked up. I lost it and because of that you got hurt. Of course he would be mad." Maka is careful while putting soap on the stitches. Kid winces but doesn't make a sound.

" It wasn't your fault that you lost it. The witch made that happen. Father can just get...over bearing when I end up getting hurt during a mission."

"It's because he loves you." Maka washes Kid's back for him before she washes his hair with his shampoo. He closes his eyes enjoying her nails on his scalp. "...I just want to avenge her so bad Kid."

"I know." He gets soap on his hands and starts scrubbing her.

"You don't have to do that. You're hurt-"

"I'm well enough to wash you. I insist."She doesn't fight him on it. He helps her get all the blood off and clean her hair. It's so nice, this feeling of being close to him, and his gentle touch. When he's done he pulls her into an embrace. He holds her close, laying his head against hers. She clings to him. They stand there for a moment, the warm water falling on the both of them.

"I'm just so glad you're okay." Kid swallows. It sounds like he's holding back tears. She just tightens her grip on him. Listening to his heart beating.

"...I'm glad you're okay too. I thought you were dead. When I went insane I thought...I had killed you. It happen to be that deer but I was so broken by your death that I couldn't even fight back against that witch. I wanted to die."

"Maka..." He lifts up her head. "Even if I were to die, I wouldn't want you to die with me. You have to live. No matter what."

"I can't. I don't' think I can. So you have to stay alive."

"That goes for you too Maka."

They get out of the shower and dry off. She helps Kid over to the bed when he started wincing. If he's confused why they're not dressing he doesn't say anything. Once they're both in bed, he wraps his arms around her, pressing her up against his bare body. He's so warm. She's missed this.

"Kid I'll do all the work but I want you." Maka locks eyes with him. "...It's my fault it's been so long but it's been two weeks. I've taken the pill every day. I want to feel you. I want you to touch me."

"I want you too. I've missed your touch." He admits. His face gets slightly flushed when she gets on top of him.

"Can we do it raw for real now?" Maka asks. Kid swallows, licking his lips. He reaches for her and pulls her into a kiss. It's deep and full of emotion. He's been wanting to kiss her. He's wanted her just as much. Their tongues brush against each other as she positions herself. Slowly she pushes him inside of her, they both moan, it being swallowed in the kiss. She moves slowly, the kiss has gotten so sloppy. He's kissing her so desperately.

Gently he's touching her stomach, his hand going up to slightly grab at her chest, his thumb brushing against her nipple.

"K-Kid." She moans when he breaks the kiss and pulls her up so he can suck on her tit. He puts his hands on her ass pushing her down on him. He's thrusting into her. It' slow but she didn't want him to have to work.

He stops sucking her nipple with a pop. He looks up at her with half lidded eyes.

"Maka...I'm going to cum inside of you."

Mak shivers, gasping when he sucks at her neck, his hands going to pinching her nipples. He's thrusting , his body has gotten into a rhythm.

"I-I'm cumming." Kid warns with a sharp intake of breath. Maka moans loudly feeling that hot liquid finally inside of her. Kid is breathing heavily riding out, making sure he shoots in deep. It's enough that she orgasms just feeling it. Kid kisses her as she rides it out, swallowing her yelps of pleasure.

They both catch their breath. Kid is softening inside of her. He's starting to wince. He was being gentle but it was probably too much with his wound.

"I'll clean up." Maka gets off of Kid. She flushes when his cum starts spilling out of her. Kid gulps when he sees this. "Don't' get excited again. That's enough for tonight." She goes into the bathroom to drain out before she brings out a rag and cleans him up.

"Thank you. Come here Maka." Kid holds out his arms. Maka turns off the lights before getting back into bed. She signs, being in his warmth again. His heart is beating so fast. "You're amazing Maka. That felt amazing." He starts praising.

"Yeah. I'm addicted to it already." Maka's head is tilted up into a kiss. She kisses him back, melting into his warmth. "Doing it raw is the best."

An image forces itself into her mind. Kid smirking down at her as she bleeds out, thrusting himself inside of her. She shakes it off quickly.

That isn't him. What she just felt was good. She wants more. Honestly if the Kid in that dream didn't cut her arms off and wasn't looking at her with hate...that dream probably would have been hot.

"Then lets keep doing it like that." Kid breaks her out of her thoughts. "It felt so good not being separated by the condom." He strokes her hair. "...And it's been awhile since I was able to be inside of you."

"Heh it's only been a couple of weeks." Maka feels herself grinning. "I've turned you into a pervert."

"I think I've always been a pervert when it comes to you." Kid pulls her in closer.

"Yeah maybe." Maka smirks. "You really ate my ass two weeks ago."

"I-I did, yes." Kid flushes.

"And you know I've notice you have a definite attraction to my ass."

"I do." Kid admits but he's red. "...I've thought about licking you there but I never thought I'd get to do it. Did you...like it?"

"It felt weird but it wasn't bad. I guess...it felt good." Maka remembers his mouth there. It was a weird feeling. "I'm just worried I'll do something gross."

"We could always clean you out if you're worried about that-" Kid stops when he realizes what he said.

"Oh? Clean me out? What else have you been thinking about doing with my ass?"

"N-Nothing I was just saying that...we could make sure you're clean and then I could do that again if you're worried about it."

"Jeez you're dirty Kid." Maka chuckles. "But hell I like that about you. Maybe sometime yeah?"

"Yeah." Kid perks up at her even considering it. He must really want to do it.

"Get some sleep before you get excited again." Maka presses herself against him to get ready for bed. She feels it's already too late.

"Just ignore it." Kid hugs her. "It's fine."

She can't sleep with him like this. She finishes him off with her mouth so he doesn't have to move. She's glad he doesn't take long.

Finally she's able to sleep once Kid does. Once again she's wrapped up in his arms. All is right with the world.

"My oh my." That woman with the hood on is laughing. "Your relationship with that boy is disgraceful. It's so obscene."

"What the hell do you know?" Maka glares at her. Why is she in this dream? She doesn't want to talk to this woman.

"Maka...oh Maka. You enjoy killing your own kind and you enjoy being fucked by that witch hunter. It's wonderful how tragic it is. I tired to warn you with that dream but you still want to be close to that boy."

"You're the reason I had that nightmare?" Maka stands up. She freezes when this woman pulls down her hood. She'd know that face anywhere. She only saw it once but she wouldn't forget it. "Medusa!"

"Yes it's me." She smiles. "Maka you poor soul. I'm just trying to help you-"

"Bull shit you killed my mother! You told Crona to poison her-"

"Kami had lost her mind by that point. I never told Crona to-"

"Don't lie to me. My mother was of sound mind when her spirit talked to me. You killed her."

"...I was putting her out of her misery. She had been fighting that curse for so long. I wanted to save her from it."

"Yeah right you cursed her-"

"I did not."

"I'm going to kill you. I'm going to find you and slice you into pieces."

"Still acting like a witch hunter? I really can't stand seeing you like this. So I'm going to open your eyes. I'm going to give you a push. This isn't how I wanted it to go but I have no choice. Once you see the truth...you'll come to me. You have no one but me."

"I have Kid." She won't back down.

"Do you?" Medusa crackles. "...Maka go to your home. Go without Kid. I'm going to show you the truth of what you are. Trust me when I say you don't want him there. It's time you came to me."

she shows her a book...somehow she knows it belongs to her mother.

"Come without Kid." She warns before the dream fades away.

Maka wakes up feeling nauseous. She doesn't want to worry Kid about her dream. He's able to move around a lot better. He's able to dress himself. They both get dressed and head down stairs. She keeps thinking about that book. She should tell Kid about it.

Yet she doesn't. Is she really going to trust Medusa over Kid? Is she really going to go there without him? How would she even pull that off? They are attached to the hip-

"Lady Maka would you like to come with me to go shopping?" Cassie suddenly asks at the breakfast table. She doesn't think.

"Sure. Getting out sounds nice." She finds herself saying.

"If you're going out Maka I can-" Kid starts.

"Oh no Kid. You need to take it easy. Let Maka out of the house every now and then. I wanted to talk to you anyway." The mayor smiles. She bets he has something to say about her.

"It's fine Kid. I'll be back in a little bit." Maka reassures. He gives her a kiss. He smiles at her, completely trusting in her.

She feels like she's breaking it by not saying anything. Why is she scared?

Maka leaves the mansion with Cassie. Once they're in the car, Maka looks over at the servant. "before we go shopping could we stop by my house? I just need to pick something up from there."

"Of course." Cassie smiles and drives her there.

Once they're in front of her house, Maka gets out of the car quickly. "Oh let me-" Cassie starts to get out.

"It will only take a second! I'll be back!" Maka rushes into the house. She closes the door and sighs in relief when it looks like Cassie isn't going to follow her.

As soon as she's inside she can feel the air is tense. It's almost hard to breathe. Her necklace is hot. It smells like blood. She should have brought a weapon. She wasn't even thinking about it. She just knows she needs to see that book.

She hears that laughing again. It's closer. A man's laugh. She's sure it's the demon. He's getting louder.

She stops when she notices that Spirit's door is off of the hinges. Like something busted into his room. The smell of blood is coming from there.

"Go in." The demon's voice is right against her ear. She can't stop her scream of surprise. It laughs at her again. That was a clear voice. She can hear him now. She's losing it.

"Fuck!" Maka marches towards the room. She decided to come here. She listened to Medusa. She wanted that book so bad that she didn't tell Kid. She isn't going to back down now. She rushes into the room and gags when the smell hits her hard.

Spirit is hanging by his neck from a rope. If that was it she would have thought he killed himself but...no. All his limbs are missing. There's blood all over the walls and there's dents like there was a fight. Underneath his body, covered in blood is a hospital gown.

She's gone numb at this point. The demon is laughing so much. She came her for a reason. That reason is sitting on the bed. The book. And next to the book is a picture. A picture of her mother when she was young posing with Medusa. Her mother is showing off her tongue piercing.

"Why?" Maka asks, ignoring the dripping of blood from Spirit. She can't process why her mother is with Medusa like this. She grabs the book. It's a journal.

She can't stop herself from reading it.

" I casted my first spell today..it was amazing. I felt so powerful. Medusa was happy, she even smile for me which she rarely does..she's so cynical I swear. So I casted my first spell on this guy, named Damien. This asshole pushed me at school so I decided he would be my first. I turned him into a fucking cat! like the pussy he is...then Medusa smirked at me and said 'We're having cat for dinner' and we did and it was delicious. Being a witch..is fucking awesome. It's amazing..at first I thought it was wrong but why is it wrong to be what I am? I'm evil and cold..but so is Medusa. We all are. We do what we want and don't give a shit..why should we? The world won't spare us so we won't spare the world. No..I bring chaos to the world..Me and Medusa will. But first I will kill every man..and they won't have it easy. I'll make them pay for all they do. Well..got to go, Medusa's calling for me..She probably wants to do more spell practice."

That's the end of the first entry and that's the end of everything Maka knew. This can't be true. This has to be a lie. Her mother was a witch? And if that's true...doesn't that make her one?

No..no that can't be..

No..no..no..

Who ever wrote this..wasn't her mother... It was Medusa trying to trick her. It has to be-

But it's her handwriting and that picture was of her mother. Maka can't control her breathing. She falls to her knees, her eyes trembling. She grabs the picture of her mother hoping she see someone else but it's not. It's her mother.

Her mother a witch? Her mother a friend of Medusa? That awful woman...It's a joke. It's a lie. It has to be. This can't be real. This must be another nightmare the demon made up.

Maka forces herself to look at the journal again. Maka turns to the next page. There's a picture of the necklace her mother gave her..the one she's wearing..At the bottom is written. 'Medusa's present to me for my 16th birthday :)'

Maka feels sick.

Her mother is a witch. Her mother is a witch. Her mother is a witch.

Witchwitchwitchwitchwitchwitchwitchwitch-

What does that make her? A witch? She's a witch?

"No I'm not! I'm not!" She screams, feeling this bubbling feeling inside of her.

"But you are." Maka freezes. That voice wasn't in her head. She whips around. Medusa is standing there. She isn't smiling. The look on her face is almost pity.

"All of this is lies." Maka holds out the book but she's trembling.

"You know it isn't. Kami was a witch. You are a witch-"

"I think by now I would have known if I'm a witch! I'm sure Kid and the Mayor would have seen it too-"

"Kami sealed your magic away to stop you from becoming a true witch. Now that she's dead, I can break that seal. It's been breaking slowly with that demon's attacks...I was going to let it break slowly with madness to make you stronger but...this is gone on long enough...I'm going to rip off the band-aid"

"Don't touch me. I'm not a-" Medusa is in front of her. She touches her forehead. Magic surges through her and she feels something shatter inside of her.

Maka screams. She screams till her throat is coarse. She screams because she feels it. Magic from the inside of her. Coming from her. She can't deny it anymore.

"You are a witch." Medusa cups her cheeks, wiping her tears away. Tears she didn't know she started shedding. "A confused witch that became a witch hunter. It's time to put that behind you. Come with me. I'll train you and protect you-"

"I-I'm not...I'm not like you." Maka tries but she's trembling. "Kid...He'll-"

"He'll kill you. There's no doubt about it. You might be able to get away with it for awhile because you're so weak but soon they will be able to tell. That you are a witch. A true witch. They will cut you apart as they've done with all the other witches."

"No! N-No I don't believe it. I don't!" She screams. She's breaking. Her mind is breaking. She isn't like the witches she's killed. They are nothing like her. She's not like the cruel witches that the Mayor taught her about. She isn't that.

Medusa searches her eyes. "Even with forcing the seal to break... it's barely done anything. The madness isn't strong enough yet. You're are so deprived that you really believe you could be a witch hunter...That witch hunters would not kill you. All the seal did was make it so you can use magic...This isn't how it's suppose to go." she's mumbling. Maka can't understand it. It feels like her mind is falling apart.

Medusa glances behind her."I'll be waiting for you to call out for me Maka. I'll be close by." Medusa fades away. Soon enough Cassie is in the house. She must have heard her scream.

"Lady Maka what is-" Cassie lets out a blood curdling scream at seeing Spirit's body.

She can't say anything. The book is gone. So is the picture. It disappeared with Medusa. She wants to say it was just a hallucination but she feels her body has changed. She's been feeling this change gradually but Medusa made it hit her all at once.

What...is she suppose to do? A witch being a witch hunter...how long could she trick Kid into thinking she's normal? Why does she need to trick him? She trusts him doesn't she? Kid said he loves her...

Yet the thought of telling him makes her vomit. Her gastric juices mixing with the blood of her father on the floor.

Cassie is talking frantically to someone. She wonders if it's the police or the mayor. Either way she knows that Kid will be here soon.

She's relieved as much as she is terrified.
