Chapter 7

To the Land of Waves

(Part 2)

"Itachi, please stay with me. You can't leave me," Naruto said in a panic, as he continued to push more energy in an attempt to cure Itachi.

"Hey, kit, you need to calm down. Nothing can be done well in a panic," Kurama advised.

"How can I be calm when my best friend-" Naruto could hear Itachi's voice in his head.

"You are my first and only friend, Naruto-kun,"

"My rival," Naruto continued.

"From now on, we are rivals,"

"My brother,"

"Now that I have known you enough, I proudly consider you my own little brother,"

"The first one to ever acknowledge my existence," Naruto said, remembering how Itachi had been the first to see his potential.

"You are pretty good," Itachi's voice rang in his mind.

"It's not easy, Kurama," Naruto thought as flashes of memories of meeting and training with Itachi appeared behind him.

"I also have lost someone very dear to me. He was the first one to care about me before you. I know how you are feeling right now. I couldn't save him..." Kurama trailed off.

"But you still have time to save your friend," Kurama said, giving Naruto a glimmer of hope.

"What do you mean?" Naruto asked, curious.

"After you kept pushing your energy to Itachi's body, his organs are now good as new and are now free of the disease, but the heart virus still remains intact. He is in a coma, and you have a maximum of two days before the virus spreads and he dies," Kurama explained.

"You are saying there is a chance I can save Itachi?" Naruto asked, feeling hopeful.

"Yes, and you have two days, or maybe less. You need to hurry, kit," Kurama said urgently.

"Thank you for your help, Kurama," Naruto said, cutting the mental link between them.

Meanwhile, Tenten, Hisoka, and Tazuna watched Naruto worriedly.

"Naruto-kun...I have never seen him this depressed," Tenten thought.

"I can feel his pain very well," Hisoka thought.

"Tazuna, where is your home?" Naruto asked in a low voice as he stood up holding unconscious Itachi on his shoulders

"It's...it's one mile away in the direction of northwest," Tazuna said.

"Grab onto me. All of you, now!" Naruto ordered as they quickly complied.

"Karin, I don't want to repeat myself," Naruto said as she nodded quickly.

With a burst of white light, they disappeared and reappeared near Tazuna's home.

As they arrived at Tazuna's home, Tazuna knocked on the door, and a voice promptly replied, "Coming," before the door swung open.

"Father! And you must be the shinobi my father hired. Please, come in," Tazuna's daughter warmly welcomed them inside.

Naruto and his group quickly entered and gently laid Itachi down on the bed, still unconscious. After introducing themselves, they all sat down for a much-needed meal together.

During their lunch, Naruto couldn't help but feel a growing concern for Itachi's condition. He knew time was of the essence to save his friend's life.

"What happened to him?" Tsunami pointed to Itachi

"He's dying from a heart virus, and I don't know how to save him," Naruto said, a pained expression on his face as he explained the situation to Tsunami, who looked at him with sympathy and concern.

Once the meal was finished, Naruto turned to Tazuna's daughter and inquired if there was any medical facility nearby.

"I'm afraid there's currently no medical facility in our land. Gato's terrorization has left us impoverished, lacking the resources and knowledge to establish one," Tsunami sadly explained.

Naruto lowered his voice and replied, "I see..."

A flicker of hope suddenly sparked when Karin spoke up, "Hmm...Mr. Naruto, I actually know someone who may be able to cure your friend."

Naruto's eyes widened, and he leaned in eagerly. "Really? Who and where can I find this person?"

"Well, I can't say for certain if she can heal Itachi, but she's renowned for her ability to cure even the most complex diseases," Karin shared.

"And?" Naruto pressed, wanting to know more.

Karin continued, "She is an Uzumaki too, my grandmother to be precise. I last saw her here in the Land of Waves before I was captured by Gato and his men."

Concern filled Naruto's voice as he asked, "Do you think she could have been captured as well?"

"No, I don't believe so," Karin assured him. "She's known as strongest Uzumaki to ever exist in her prime"

Determined, Naruto declared, "Let's find her. Karin, you will come with me since you know what she looks like."

Turning to Tenten and Hikosa, he instructed them, "Tenten, Hikosa, you will watch over Itachi and this house in my absence. I'll leave a Kage Bunshin here just in case. If something goes wrong, I'll come back immediately."

"Understood, Naruto-kun. Stay safe, and I have faith that you'll find her in no time," Tenten said with confidence, offering support.

Naruto's determination fueled his response, "Yes, I will."

With Karin by his side, Naruto ventured out to search for the Uzumaki who held the potential to save Itachi's life, leaving his trusted teammates behind to protect and support their sensei.

Naruto and Karin wandered everywhere, searching for the Uzumaki. They asked everyone they met about the possibility of her being here, but their efforts were in vain. Suddenly, it started raining, and they had to take a break, so they sat down at a site to wait it out. Naruto remained silent, and Karin was about to ask him something, but a loud screech cut her off.

"Shut up, bitch. Nobody is going to save you," said one of the thugs.

"Please, let me go. My kids need this food at home," pleaded the woman.

"Why stop when the fun is just about to begin," said another thug.

"Please stop! Anyone, help me!" shouted the woman. People gathered around, but none of them dared to help her.

"Release her," said Naruto coldly.

"Oh, look at there. Who is here to stop us? A child? What are you going to do, cry like a baby?" said one of the thugs.

"Release her," repeated Naruto.

"We have done it before and will do it now. You can't sto-"

In a split second, Naruto jumped over the thug's head and twisted his head, breaking his neck with a sickening thud.

"Release her," Naruto repeated.

"Why, you squirt?" They rushed to attack Naruto, but he was too fast for them.

"Light blaze jutsu!" Naruto dashed through them in a zig-zag movement, leaving a trail of white light behind him. A moment later, all of their heads exploded, and blood was splattered everywhere, mostly covering Naruto. Karin and the others could only watch the scene in horror and silence. Naruto eyes were silver as he turned to face them.

"You guys are so pitiful. You outnumbered them, and yet no one dared to help that needy woman. No wonder why Gato has easily managed to terrorize this nation. You don't stand up for yourselves," said Naruto.

"THERE IS NO ORDER IN THIS NATION. YOU ALL ARE COWARDS PEOPLE ARE KILLED, HARASSED FOR NO REASON, RAPED, THEIR PARENTS ARE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEIR CHILDREN, AND YET YOU ONLY WATCH IN SILENCE," shouted Naruto, but people could only look down in shame.

"DON'T YOU CARE ABOUT THOSE LITTLE CHILDREN, THOSE POOR AND NEEDY ORPHANS? TELL ME, DO YOU WANT TO BE SLAVES FOREVER AND WATCH THEM DIE DOING NOTHING?" Naruto continued, tears falling down his cheeks as he spoke, but still not receiving any response.

"As I expected," said Naruto as he wiped his tears away.

"There's a saying: God helps those who help themselves. Now tell me, how many of you want to help yourselves, to stand up for yourselves, to speak up for the poor, to help those who truly need it, to sacrifice yourselves for the nation's independence? Those are the real heroes," Naruto said, but still, there was no response from the people gathered.

"OK, you want to-" Naruto was cut off by the scream of a little boy.

"Heroes are fake! There are no heroes in this world! Those who are strong live, and weak die! Gato is very strong. We can't hope to stand against him. He took away my dad from me. He took away our don't know pain!" shouted the boy.

Naruto was silent for a few moments, then replied, "You think you know pain boy? Well, let me tell you a story about a boy who was neglected by this cruel world ever since he was born. He was thrown out like trash outside his home. He was blamed for something he had no control over. He was banished from his own parents for his other siblings. He was attacked by a mob of villagers every time they got the chance. He didn't even understand why. But despite all that, he didn't stay idle. He didn't give up hope. He stood up for himself and got friends and teachers, and through their guidance and help, he became strong."

"Do you know who that boy was?" Naruto asked the crowd.

"IT WAS ME. I DIDN'T STAYED IDLE ABOUT MY INDEPENDENCE. I STOOD UP AND MOVED ON, AND WITH THE HELP OF MY FRIENDS, I BECAME STRONG ENOUGH TO SAVE THE NEEDY PEOPLE!" shouted Naruto.

"To answer your other question, Gato is strong because you consider yourself weak. He's just a normal, vulnerable human like you, but your weak will is what makes him stronger than you. You need to stand up for yourselves," Naruto explained.

"However, there are some people who stand up for themselves and do something great for this nation. Tazuna is fighting with his life to build bridge that will increase economy of this nation. I will help you, just because of those heroes who are sacrificing themselves for this nation," said Naruto.

"Nothing comes without a sacrifice. I, Naruto, will help this village get rid of thugs like Gato with my life, and I'll stand up for this land and will defeat Gato with these hands!" Naruto declared, all the people could remember the same words of Inari's father. His voice echoing through their minds.

"So who's with me?" Naruto asked.

"We won't let ourselves be slaves to Gato anymore. I'm with you!" said a random person from the crowd.

"Yeah, this time, we'll stand up for ourselves. I'll help you, too," said another person from the crowd.

"Me too"

"Count us in too. I will sacrifice myself if it is good for nation"

"We're with you, and we'll accomplish this task with these hands!" shouted the crowd, their eyes burning with newfound determination.

"Believe it!" shouted Naruto with determination. But then the same boy who shouted before asked.

"But what if you fail like him?. What if he kills you too"

"I never back down on my words. I have friends too and I fight for them too kid. That is how I stand up, this is why I am so strong. You too can become strong"

"You really mean it Naruto-san?" said by the boy

"You bet yeah" replied with warm smirk. As boy hugged him tears falling.

"I, Inari will become the hero like my father with these hands" said by Inari.

"His chakra seems so good and warm," Karin thought to herself delight.

Another mysterious figure in a cloak also observed the scene with a smirk. "He's perfect," the person thought.

"Where is that woman? There isn't much time left. Karin, do you know anyone else besides that Uzumaki?" Naruto asked impatiently.

"Sadly, no," Karin replied.

"Guess we don't have any hope then," Naruto said in a low and sad tone. He sat down, and tears began to fall from his eyes.

"How can I save a land when I can't even save a friend?" Naruto lamented, but his thoughts were interrupted by an elderly voice.

"Giving up already?" the person in cloak asked. Naruto stood up, took a fighting stance, and asked, "Who are you, and what do you want?"

"I am just somebody who knows the person you are looking for," the person replied cryptically.

"What?" Naruto asked, unable to believe what he was hearing.

"I can take you to where she is. Just follow me," the person said, then began to walk away.

"Should I trust this person? But I don't have any other options. Damn it," Naruto thought to himself.

"Karin, let's go. We have to follow them," Naruto said, determined to find the Uzumaki. Karin nodded, and they followed the person in the cloak.

Few moments later they arrived at a shrine. As they enter the shrine their eyes widen. From a distance, there lay a peaceful sanctuary - an open arena like area bordered by tall trees and lush vegetation. At the board high at the mountain was symbol of Uzumaki clan. In the center of the area lay a small fountain, its water cascading gently into a pool of sparkling crystal clear water.

The surrounding grass was a vibrant green. The sound of birds chirping and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze added to the tranquility, providing a calming backdrop to them.

"I have never seen such beauty before" muttered by a wide eyed Naruto.

"So you did come" said by that person .

Naruto leaving all thoughts aside became serious and asked.

"Tell me where is that Uzumaki"

"She is right here in front of you" said by that person.

"Don't tell me that you are..."

"The Uzumaki you are looking for. My name is Yumi Uzumaki" sad by that person.

"..." Naruto stood silent.

"You are not my grandmother" said by Karin

"Why yes I am sweety. Just wait Release" as the henge released. As a long red haired woman who looked no older than 35 years old(But actually she was 56 years old, you know an Uzumaki thing), wearing the traditional clothes, the Uzumaki clan symbol could be seen at the back of her clothes appeared after the smoke cleared.

"Still don't believe me?" asked by Yumi Uzumaki. As Karin ran towards her and hugged her as Yumi returned the hug.

"I don't care who you are. I just want to know if you can cure someone with heart virus" said by Naruto seriously.

"Its dependable on the patient situation. If the virus is spread completely then it cannot be cured" said by Yumi as she released her hug.

"Then we are wasting time here we must go as soon as possible to help Itachi" said by Naruto.

"Why do you think I will come with you?" asked by Yumi.

As Naruto powers up and released high killer intent before saying " I DIDN'T COME HERE TO WASTE MY TIME HERE FOR NOTHING. I" but he powers down suddenly and drop to both knees "My best friend is dying. You need to help plz. I am begging you plz cure my friend" said by Naruto hopingly.

"Why do you care for your friend so much?" asked by Yumi

"Because he was the one who taught me what friendship is. He told me who I really was. He accepted me first as a friend as a brother as a human when everyone else called me names like demon, menace and useless trash. He assisted me when everyone else ignored me. Its because of him and others that I am here fresh and strong. That is why he means so much to me. I can't afford to lose him. No I can't"

"I came here in hope to find cure but all in vain. I will be leaving then. Thank you Karin for your help" said by Naruto as he began to walk to the exit but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder.

"Its okay I will cure your friend. That's all I wanted to hear from you" said by Yumi

"For Real?" asked by Naruto

"Yes for real" said by Yumi.

"Okay grab onto my shoulder and I'll teleport you two there" said by Naruto as they nodded. As they teleported at Tazuna's home.

Naruto knocked on the door, and after a few seconds, Tenten opened it.

"Naruto-kun you are back and why are you covered in blood?" said by Tenten

"Do not worry about me. I am fine" said by Naruto assuring her.

"As you say so Naruto-kun and you must be the Uzumaki who will cure Itachi. Come here," Tenten said.

"Where is the patient?" Yumi asked.

"He's in the bed," Tenten replied as Yumi nodded and began analyzing his condition.

"The virus is spreading fast. I am running out of time I must use that technique now," Yumi Uzumaki thought to herself.

"Ketsueki Rensa no Jutsu," she whispered, activating the Blood Connection Technique.

Yumi created a seal on Itachi's chest to establish a direct connection with his blood vessels. With intense concentration, she channeled her own healing chakra into his body while manipulating his blood flow and chakra to remove the virus from his heart. However, she soon realized that she was running low on chakra, given that this technique was highly demanding.

"I am running out of chakra," Yumi admitted.

"I will provide my own chakra," Naruto offered, as he supplied his energy to Yumi.

"This should do it," Yumi said, continuing the jutsu, sweat appeared on her. After a few moments, she stopped and sighed.

"The jutsu was..." Yumi trailed off.

"What happened? Why did you stop? Please tell me," Naruto asked, his worry evident.

"The jutsu was...successful. Your friend will fully recover in a week," Yumi finally announced.

"Yeah! I knew Itachi-sensei wouldn't leave us," Tenten exclaimed, jumping with joy and relief.

Hikosa could only smile and phew, expressing his relief as well. But Naruto couldn't contain his joy at Itachi being alive, and he collapsed.

"I guess we now have two patients. What a relief," Yumi said with a hint of humor.
