Chapter 12 - Sealed Power
Beacon Academy, Dormitory, The Next Day
Naruto yawned as he stood in Team JNPR's dorm room. In front of him, he had Nora salivating as she looked at Ren who was holding a plate of pancakes. For some reason, instead of wearing an apron or any clothes meant for cooking. Ren was dressed in a padded outfit like he was a volunteer who is about to be mauled by a police canine.
"And what exactly is meant to happen?" Ren asked.
"Ren, it doesn't look like it but I'm a true scholar. One that studied a lot since I was a kid. So there's a lot of science I have to go over." Naruto said as Ren gave him a blank stare.
"Naruto, I know we barely know each other, but to me. You're basically a slightly more mature version of Yang." Ren explained.
"Don't let Ruby hear that. She thinks we're dating." Naruto replied.
"You and Yang aren't dating?" Nora curiously asked.
"Of course not, we're friends. Besides, the two of you are the power couple of this generation." Naruto said.
"We're not dating either." Ren said as Nora started to laugh nervously.
Naruto raised a brow, 'My radar is going off.' he thought as he sensed a partial lie on Ren's part. "Forget it! Nora, stay put for one minute without eating those pancakes." he said.
Nora started to twitch like a drug addict, "Need… Ren's… pancakes!" She screamed as she ripped off the plate. Nora started to laugh victoriously, "Haha! What are you going to do now?" she asked.
Naruto concentrated a lot of chakra into his finger tips and poked Nora in the neck. Causing the ginger haired girl to scream in pain before dropping the plate.
"OW! Warn me next time!" Nora yelled angrily.
"Couldn't you have shocked her without making me go through this?" Ren asked as he pointed at the pancakes.
"Nora needed the motivation." Naruto said reasoning with Ren.
Nora glared as she crossed her arms, "Well you are… hey wait a minute! That was electricity! How did you hurt me?" she asked.
Naruto smirked, "Well without me trying to get a reference book to explain lightning vs electricity." He started to say.
"Your lecture is very informative science man." Nora mocked before being shocked again.
"Anyways, while I doubt Nora is completely immune to being electrocuted. Like me when I tried to redirect lightning like the idiot brat I was back in the day. The seal I put on Nora is meant to turn off a semblance." Naruto explained.
"Huh? This piece of paper turned off High Voltage?" Nora asked.
"Pretty much, I picked you specifically Nora because you are a special case." Naruto said as Nora gasped.
"Because I'm awesome?" Nora asked.
"That too, but because unlike the rest of us. Our semblances are either activated on their own or need a special situation." Naruto explained.
Ren started to understand, "Since Nora's semblance is technically active all day everyday. It makes it easier to get results." he said.
"Pretty much, Squall's semblance is in the same situation. Except, he doesn't want me to use him as a test subject." Naruto replied.
"I expect payment of one hundred thousand lien per shock." Nora said while crossing her arms.
"I'll buy more pancakes." Naruto said.
"Sold!" Nora said as she shook Naruto's hand.
Just then, Pyrrha walked in, "Am I interrupting something?" she asked.
"I feel toasty." Nora said.
"Nora feels toasty." Ren pointed out.
Pyrrha looked at Naruto, "Care to explain?" she asked.
Naruto pulled off Nora's seal, "I made a seal capable of turning off someone's semblance." he answered.
"As interesting as that is. Why does that exist?" Pyrrha asked.
"You never know when you might face a difficult thug." Naruto answered as Jaune came in as well.
"Did Ren make pancakes again?" Jaune asked as he sniffed the air.
"Well I better get going, you have a lot of cooking to do Ren." Naruto said as he started walking.
"Hey! At least help me! You can make duplicates of yourself!" Ren said as Naruto left.
Naruto laughed, "Sorry Ren, you gotta learn to cook for your family." He said as Ren sighed. He then looked at the seal he used on Nora, "I better copy this. This one took nearly a month to figure out." he said as he snapped a photo of the seal designs.
By the time he got back to his proper dorm room. He found a familiar man in a cape waiting for him. Naruto could sense a slight tense nature coming from the man.
"You waiting for someone, creeper?" Naruto humorously asked.
"Very funny." Qrow said sarcastically. "So, you must be the kid that raised Ruby." he said.
"I am, I'm the reason she's awesome." Naruto answered.
"I see, how about we go for a walk?" Qrow suggested.
And things suddenly got tense.
With Ruby
Ruby had found her mask and the thief. Looking down at her was Colonel Esdeath Partas of the Atlas military. The woman was looking quiet smug as she waved Ruby's mask in front of her. Swiping it away every time Ruby came close to grabbing it.
"Give it back!" Ruby demanded.
"I think you are in no position to demand anything of me." Esdeath said as she kept moving the mask away. "In fact, I think you owe me for running away when that Grimm came out of nowhere back in the forest." she said.
"What do you want from me?" Ruby asked with a glare.
Esdeath stifled a laugh, "I want to finish what we started. Then maybe, just maybe. I'll decide if the baby can have her mask back." she taunted.
Gauging Ruby's reaction, Esdeath found herself having to quickly asses her foe. As Ruby was only silent for a moment before having to avoid a whip that almost hit her head. Then jumping back as she avoided Ruby's next attacks. Followed by blocking a few projectiles that Ruby threw at her before finding the girl turning into a spiral of petals heading straight for her.
Remembering the video of Ruby hitting Pyrrha like a cannon ball. Esdeath waved her sword up and summoned a wall of ice. Making the girl's attack stop as she crashed through the hole. Ruining the momentum Ruby built up.
"Don't you have any other tricks girl? The world has already seen those moves." Esdeath pointed out.
Ruby cursed herself as that video some student took of her fight with Pyrrha also exploited some of her moves. Though that left Ruby having to be more cautious and think more creatively. Especially as Esdeath is quite stubborn and refuses to accept someone else's surrender.
With Weiss
Taking the time to cool off. Weiss met up with her older sister again who also somewhat admitted that maybe she was harsh. Just maybe, if not a little bit. That Schnee Pride is still very strong in the older woman.
"I do admit Weiss, despite your lack of timing and accuracy. You have improved with our family semblance." Winter said, actually giving Weiss some positive feedback. "Though there is a lot of hesitation. Why is that?" she asked.
Weiss sighed, "I think of it as clearing my mind. I know the danger is there, but it's a matter of how to respond to these things." she said.
"That is very much obvious Weiss, that is why you must observe your foe as preplanning is not always possible." Winter explained.
"That's sort of what I'm trying to explain." Weiss replied.
"Oh, well I think there are better ways to do so." Winter said.
"Would you like to explain them?" Weiss asked.
Winter sighed, "Where do I begin?" she asked.
It sounded like this was going to be more criticism but with a less rude tone. By the end of this, Weiss might start seeing how much more of a mess she used to be.
"You still eagerness Weiss. While you confidence is no issue, you are far to willing to jump in when the moment seems right." Winter said.
"Other people aren't going to sit there and wait for me Winter. I have to support the team." Weiss interjected.
"Don't interrupt me Weiss, I haven't finished your evaluation yet." Winter said.
Weiss sighed, "Winter, sister, we're already past that point." she spoke up again. "Look, I know you're here on duty and I understand all of that sensitive stuff. But can we move past that? Can I talk to Winter Schnee, not Specialist Schnee?" she asked.
"I'm the same person Weiss." Winter said, not getting the metaphor. "And besides, I think you're already too relaxed as it is. It seems that you've been too relaxed as it is. You haven't even mentioned your schoolwork in your letters." she points out.
"I mean, what is there to mention? I work hard, listen, ask questions and study by myself since most of teammates are… well they tend to do their own thing." Weiss tried to explain.
Ruby isn't a nerd or a complete dunderhead, but she's trying hard enough to pass. Yang isn't very scholarly but not that bad academically. Then there's Blake who still quietly hides in the back. Probably reading Jiraiya's porn novels.
"Then that might be your issue." Winter said.
"What?" Weiss asked with confusion.
"Your team, the dynamics are all a mess. While they are competent it seems that the fault is that they are disorganized. With no discipline and possibly no functionality unless there was an immediate danger." Winter explained.
And here we go again with the nitpicking.
"Winter that is not true, sure a fight is probably the best way for everyone to get focused. With Yang being a thrill seeker and Blake preparing for everything like she's a ninja or something." Weiss explained before being cut off.
"That is what I am trying to tell you Weiss. I dare say that this team has no hope of reaching the finals let alone winning the Vytal Festival." Winter said critically. "It's a mystery as to me how you weren't picked to lead. Then again, it seems as if you cannot make your own decisions and rely on a child to think for you." she said.
Now Weiss had enough, "No, you listen here Winter. I get you have more experience than me and I admit again, I was angry when I wasn't picked as Team lead." she started to say as she sat up from her chair. "Except, as much as I prefer leading the team. I respect my leader and we grow together. Every victory and every defeat defines us as a whole. So you can't blame a single when things don't meet some made up criteria I never questioned before." she said slowly raising her voice.
"Weiss sit down, you're frustrating yourself over nothing." Winter said thinking her sister was having a bad temper.
"Winter, I respected you ever since I was little for not bending to father's will and being your own woman. Except I can't have you talk badly about my team who you don't even know and my best friend who you alienated without hesitation." Weiss said feeling more ire from Winter's opinions. Only to cool off, "No, this is on me. I'm sorry for wasting your time Ms. Schnee. I will leave you to your work and other devices and be on my way." she said before walking away.
Winter was fairly confused as to what happened and was about to speak again. When Weiss ended their talk as if they were barely acquaintances. Even with all this frustration built up, Weiss sure knew how to leave on a professional note.
"I… Weiss?" Winter asked when her brother arrived.
"You sure know how to alienate the family Winter." Jiraiya said.
Winter rolled her hands into a fist, "I wasn't talking to you Jiraiya." she said.
"You can say the same to Whitley and mom." Jiraiya said before leaving to check on his sister.
However, Weiss ran into Josuke who was nearby. Jiraiya couldn't overhear it but it seemed like he calmed her down. Before the two ended up going in the same direction as each other. Now the perverted huntsmen's brotherly instincts were kicked into the max.
'No boy is going to ruin my little sister!' Jiraiya thought as he started following them.
With Naruto
Naruto was awkwardly sitting with Qrow. This was almost as intense as any boy who is having a serious talk with a father about dating their daughter. Probably doesn't help that Qrow is basically a second father to Ruby and Yang, but he's likely more relaxed than Tai Yang if he were around.
"So, you've been taking care of Ruby for the past eight years?" Qrow asked.
"I think we were both trading role for all of those years." Naruto answered as Qrow looked confused. "Just because I'm older, it doesn't mean I'm invincible. Ruby had to learn a lot of tough love on her own." he said.
"She was a kid." Qrow points out.
"So was I, one that spent nearly two years trying to cross between Mistral and Vale to find aunt Summer." Naruto responded
"Point taken." Qrow said realizing that now.
"Besides, the tough part is watching out for Ruby's mental health. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to keep a little kid from freaking out or being alone for too long." Naruto said.
"I can imagine." Qrow said.
"So where were you? Ruby heard from Yang that you supposedly died before she was alone." Naruto asked.
Qrow sighed, "I was in a coma, my mission didn't go as planned and the first thing I did was look for girls." he said remembering how stressed he was that day. "The first thing I did was go to Patch and then… find my sister." he said.
"Ruby doesn't have a good opinion of Raven." Naruto said.
"I don't either." Qrow replied bluntly. "Neither did your mother." he said confusing him.
"You knew my mother?" Naruto asked.
Currently, Naruto only knew Qrow as a stranger and only knew what Ruby told him. He knew a lot about Summer since he remembered his mother's journal and a lot of photos of the two together since childhood. Along with a bit of information about Taiyang, but that's it. Kushina told Naruto that he supposedly met Summer as a toddler but he can't remember.
"Yeah, Kushina and Summer were attached at the hip when they arrived. Actually now that I think about it, I think describing her would be like describing a red haired Yang." Qrow said remembering the fond memories. "Except she was a bigger troublemaker." he added.
Qrow's mind suddenly remembered how much of a sadist Summer's cousin was compared to Taiyang as a prankster.
"I guess that's good to hear." Naruto said as he still missed his parents.
What kid wouldn't miss their family?
"Anyways, what happened after you found Yang?" Naruto asked.
Qrow sighed, "I found the house was burned down. I wanted to tear the forest down thinking I would find Ruby hiding somewhere. Since there wasn't a body in house, we spent a week trying to look for her." He explained.
Naruto nodded, "Ruby didn't exactly want to stay on Patch for too long. Yang leaving her left her traumatized." he said. "Besides, there's only so long Ruby would want to live there until supplies ran out." he explained.
Then Qrow wondered about something, "Do you know what caused that fire by chance?" he asked.
"I already said it gave Ruby bad memories." Naruto said giving Qrow a bad vibe. "She's been coping better and she started giving Yang another chance when she cut her hair." he said.
"I thought as much, that firecracker loves her hair too much. For her to get rid of it really expresses her devotion to her sister." Qrow said feeling happy that the girls are talking things out.
"Well, if you need anything else. You know where to find me." Naruto said before dropping something. "Crap." he said while trying to reach it.
Only for Qrow to beat him, "What's this? Graffiti?" he joked as he looked at the markings.
"Sealing, like the mystical stuff they teach at temples. Only this actually works." Naruto said as he tried to reach for it.
"What does it do? Scare away ghosts?" Qrow asked as he tried to give it back.
Only to accidentally trigger his aura as the seal latched on. As Qrow tried to take it off from his hand. The leg of his chair broke and he ended up falling backwards onto some gum.
"It amplifies my Misfortune… great." Qrow said sarcastically.
"It's supposed to cancel someone's semblance." Naruto replied as he tried helping Qrow up.
"Why would… how… forget it." Qrow said as Naruto took it back.
"I'm gonna go now." Naruto said as Qrow nodded.
Qrow cursed his bad luck as he managed to take the gum off of his cape. Hoping that it doesn't leave a stain there. Qrow noticed something hard in the gum and gagged. He didn't want to imagine what crap was attached to the disgusting thing until he noticed it was a coin.
"Wow, about 20 more of these and maybe I can buy some milk." Qrow said as he tossed away the gum attached to the coin.
Then Ozpin passed by, "There you are Qrow. I've wanted to let you know about something… I see you found a shiny coin." he said noticing Qrow intently staring at the money.
"Yeah, my chair broke and I fell onto some gum attached to it. Lucky right?" Qrow asked sarcastically.
"Yes, very." Ozpin replied before looking closer. "Do you mind if I look at it?" he asked he had a sudden keen interest in the currency.
"Go ahead Oz, the thing is old and probably worthless." Qrow said as the coin looked foreign.
"I think if you went to a pawnshop that did not swindle you. They would trade you a couple hundred lien." Ozpin said surprising him. "I remember the manufacturing style of this coin many years ago. In the right hands, you have a buyer in the future requesting it for 25,000 lien." he explained.
"And I'm guessing you had a job antiquing too?" Qrow asked with some doubtt.
"That too." Ozpin confirmed truthfully.
"Wait, what?" Qrow asked as he thought it was just some dirty coin.
Qrow looked back where Naruto left. He remembered what Naruto said about his seal.
"It's supposed to cancel someone's semblance."
'That kid was onto something.' Qrow thought with wide eyes.
Back with Ruby
*CRASH* *CRACK*
Ruby had shattered all but one icicle that Esdeath sent flying towards her. The last one just barely nicked her shoulder and left a tear in her sweater. Ruby shook off the scratch as the pain subsided. Esdeath merely grinned at the girl's tenacity.
"You are good, but not good enough." Esdeath said. "No discipline, your style is all over the place, but there is something admirable about how far you've come." she said.
Ruby glared at Esdeath before looking at her stolen mask. Esdeath continued to grin sadistically at Ruby as if to try and test her patience.
"I'm not here to entertain you. I want my mask back." Ruby said.
"Then start taking this fight more seriously." Esdeath taunted.
Ruby then bursted into a tornado of roses as Esdeath attempted to slash at her with her sword. Missing every time as Ruby was in fragments and impossible to harm this way. It was then that Esdeath was hit by a surprise crystalized fist to the face. Ruby didn't let up as she dealt another blow to Esdeath's chin and finally one to the torso that knocked her onto the ground. Even as Esdeath quickly recovered, Ruby dealt another heavy blow to her, but the Colonel stood her ground.
Esdeath used all her strength to keep standing as she slashed at Ruby before kicking her away. Only to find the girl looking relatively well. Most likely from Ruby shielding her abdomen with her crystallization. Making this fight's victor be determined by who can hit the hardest.
Esdeath licked her lips as she charged at Ruby, "Those fists, they are no ordinary semblance. Then again, I never heard of someone having more than one." she said her sword connected with Ruby's fist. "I confess, I only came because James ordered an investigation on the "Titan" and I had no interest in it whatsoever." she said before Ruby pulled out a hammer from her back.
Esdeath narrowly avoided the hammer's strikes before pushing Ruby away. Then finding herself having to block it after Ruby threw it towards her head. However the impact made her loose her footing and nearly made her hit the ground again.
"Shut up!" Ruby yelled as her body burst into petals again.
Esdeath slammed her hand down and trapped the petals in a dome of ice that Ruby couldn't escape from. She watched as the girl constantly bounced around the small prison in her attempt to escape.
"Seeing it now, your power looks a lot like that wall left behind by that Titan. It's a mystery that James is so desperate to solve. That leaves me wondering, what secrets are you holding?" Esdeath asked before backing away quickly.
As Ruby smashed through the ice dome with a powerful kick. Ruby furiously ran to Esdeath who had predicted her moves now that she was very pissed.
"Weisschnabel!" Esdeath cried out.
Ruby surrounded her body with her crystalized armor as she shattered the ice. Then continued to sprit at Esdeath who kept trying to attack from a distant. Before just jumping right at her and attempting to thrust her sword through her. Only to miss as she bursted into petals. Which Ruby took advantage of by moving around her and then delivering a heavy kick to her back that sent her skidding.
"Resourceful, but still lacking." Esdeath said as she stood up again.
"What do you want?" Ruby asked as she threw another fist at her head.
"Besides a challenge, which I did greatly enjoy. The Grimm are mindless beasts with advantages in numbers." Esdeath said as she dodged the attack. Before swinging down her sword at Ruby, "Tolerating idiots like James and all of the other Atlas elites only make my life more dull." she added as her blade did nothing against Ruby's hardened body.
"You think this is fun? You're a maniac!" Ruby asked as she pushed Esdeath away.
"I won't deny your opinion, but you have to understand. Everyone needs to feel alive and fighting you makes me happy." Esdeath said as she sheathes her sword.
Ruby kept her guard up, "I think our ideas of entertainment differ." she said. "Besides, I just want to live a peaceful life with my big brother and friends." she said.
Esdeath scoffed, "There is no such thing as peace you delusional girl. You need a lot of strength to prepare for all sorts of threats in this world and I am not just referring to the Grimm." she said.
"Then I'll face whoever gets in my way." Ruby said stubbornly.
"Then would you like to make a deal then? A way for the both of us to benefit?" Esdeath asked.
"And what would You want when I can figure things out on my own?" Ruby asked suspiciously.
"James wouldn't be any closer to discovering the origin of the Titan. That's for sure and he is very desperate to find it." Esdeath said as Ruby tried to hide her shock. "The scientists confirmed that the creature isn't dead either so it makes him more paranoid." she added.
It seems to Ruby that General James Ironwood is one of those threats in the world worth worrying about.
"However, as I said or intended to say that is. I'm not very much a fan of James or his diluted plans." Esdeath said.
"What do you want?" Ruby asked, not liking Esdeath's endless smile one bit.
Later that evening
Naruto was on his way back to the dorm when he decided to pick up some food. Before then, he texted his team to see if they wanted anything. On his way there, he was surprised by sight of an Atlas soldier. Only being briefly confused when he saw their face.
"Oh hey Weiss." Naruto greeted as he was about to go inside.
This person was actually Winter, "No, I'm Winter." she said.
Naruto paused and felt embarrassed, "Sorry, I thought you were someone else. My mistake." he said about to enter.
"Hold on a moment, you're Belmont right? Team JASN was it?" Winter asked.
"Yeah, am I famous now?" Naruto asked with a foxy grin.
"No, not remotely as I am concerned." Winter answered sternly
"It was a joke, you didn't have to be rude about it." Naruto said as Winter sighed.
"Excuse my tone of voice then. Are you acquainted with my sister?" Winter asked.
"I guess, she's my little sister's best friend." Naruto answered as they went inside.
"Oh, how well do you know Team RWBY?" Winter asked.
Naruto raised a brow, "I'm sorry, is there something I should help you with?" he asked suspiciously.
Winter sighed again, "I had a brief falling out with Weiss. I feel that I unfairly judged her teammates based that on their styles and said that reflected on her." She explained.
"I see, Weiss isn't the type to take criticism. Then again, Team RWBY is pretty special so they have their own thinking and how do I explain this?" Naruto asked as he started thinking. At the same time, unaware of how harsh Winter's earlier criticism was, "I guess they had to start off by making peace with each other. After that, they understand each other. They learn to communicate and that's why their style seems hectic when they're really organizing for any task." he explained.
Winter thought about it, "I suppose that's one way to view it." she said.
"Damn, is the elevator broken again?" Naruto asked as the dorm elevator sounded damaged. "That's a long flight of stairs and I really don't walk all the way up there." He said.
"Then we can walk and talk. There's still a few things I wanted to ask you." Winter said.
Naruto frowned for a moment, "Grab onto me." he said.
"Excuse me?" Winter asked.
"Just grab my arm or shoulder or something." Naruto said.
"I do not like the sound of what you are trying to say." Winter said.
Naruto groaned, "Here I thought Weiss is a bad listener." he said as he quickly put an arm around Winter's waist.
Before Winter could object to being grabbed in such a manner. Naruto disappeared along with the elder Schnee in a swirl of leaves. Hopefully, this shunshin would lead them close to Team JASN's dorm.
At the dorm
Adam was cleaning up his equipment as to prepare for round 2 in tomorrow's festival. Only to be surprised by Naruto arriving with Winter. Winter broke away from Naruto as she suddenly felt the air in her lungs disappear.
"I see you brought Weiss." Adam said.
"Her sister." Naruto corrected.
"Oh, nice to meet you." Adam said before focusing on cleaning again.
Winter looked at Naruto with wide eyes, "Was that your semblance?" she asked.
"Sort of." Naruto answered as he put the food down. "At least my accuracy improved." he said to Adam.
"I can see that much." Adam replied.
"Anyways, I'll uh… finish up my conversation with Super Weiss outside." Naruto said as Adam nodded.
Exiting the dorm room, Winter shook her thoughts away from the strange transportation experience. She started thinking back to where she left off with her conversation with Naruto.
"Anyways, what was that you were saying about cooperation?" Winter asked.
Naruto sighed, "Look, sometimes we might not like the people we work with and sometimes they don't like us. Other times, we love hanging out like best buds but end up making things worse for ourselves." he started to explain. "It's a matter of trying to bond like I said. Things won't go perfectly, but that's the thing. You have understand others in order to understand yourself." he explained.
Winter looked unsure, "Maybe I don't understand Weiss. I want her to be like me, but all I see is frustration." she said.
"Winter look, it sounds like you care about Weiss. I don't know what you said, but you need to understand that Weiss likely looks up to you like my sister looks up to me." Naruto began to explain again. "From what I know about Weiss, she adores you. At least that's what I think she's saying when she mentions you out loud." he said.
That did wound Winter's heart. She knew her sister always loved her and Winter always dotted Weiss when she was a child. So she was left confused, wondering if there was an outside force to blame for Weiss acting out and feeling angry over Winter's words.
"As the elders, we have to inspire the kids. Even if they don't question anything, you have to think about what kind of example you're setting for them. Trust me, Weiss has been a lot more pleasant to be around and she's way better than where she was on day one." Naruto explained.
"I see, but how do I know if I'm doing something wrong?" Winter asked.
Naruto rubbed the back of his head, "Let's see, just don't be the person you don't want your kid sister to be. I don't want to call you a drone because you're a soldier, but try to act like a human. Feel what others feel or at least understand their feelings." he explained.
Winter sighed as she rubbed her forehead, "I think I can do that. Maybe I did go too far." she said. "I promised to be less critical and yet I tried finding another reason to be overly critical." She said.
Naruto snorted, "Wow, you really are Weiss' sister." he said.
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Winter asked.
"Nothing, it's just that Weiss never really thought about her own flaws but pointed it out everyone else's issues before getting to know them." Naruto explained.
"I see, maybe I'm to blame for that." Winter said.
"Don't beat yourself up, just don't end things on a bad note and pretend nothing happened. Forgiveness is hard to earn, but even then that just means the other person accepted what happened. It doesn't mean they're going to forget it." Naruto said.
"I'll take your advice Belmont. Thank you by the way. This talk really helped me." Winter said as she started walking away. Then she stopped and looked back, "And good luck in the tournament tomorrow." she said.
"Thanks, I'll think about about you when I make my victory speech." Naruto said as a smile crept Winter's lips. Then he noticed something, "What the heck? Is that anger?" he asked as he looked around.
He then noticed Yang trying to casually walk into her dorm. At the same time, her face was scrunched up as if she were trying to hide her emotions. Naruto was about to greet his fellow blond when Yang quickly went inside and slammed the door. Naruto recoiled as he could feel some hostility.
"I wonder if she got into a fight or something." Naruto said to himself before heading into his dorm room.
A few minutes later, Josuke arrived with Weiss, "You feeling better Ice Princess?" he asked.
"A little bit, I still feel like maybe I overreacted." Weiss said.
"Weiss, family is important but sometimes we don't get along. Trust me, mom always kicks me when I keep playing for too long." Josuke explained.
Weiss rolled her eyes, "At least it sounds like your mother and I would get along." she said.
Josuke snorted, "Oh please no, I don't need that." he said. He quickly went back to the original subject, "Anyways, it might sound selfish and stuff, but one person can't always act like they're right all time. Family is like a… like a compromise." He told her.
"That doesn't sound right." Weiss said.
"Well it is, if your sister is like you. Then she's probably angry and stubborn, so you just gotta get her to open up what's going on instead of judging everything." Josuke explained.
"I guess that make sense." Weiss said with a sigh. "Anyways, thanks for the day out and the ice cream too." she said.
Josuke grinned, "Your welcome, you're actually fun to be around when you learn to relax." he said.
"Just remember, this was not a date." Weiss said as she went into her dorm.
"I never it was." Josuke said as he went inside too.
Jiraiya suddenly poked his head out of the corner, "Not worthy." he said as his brotherly senses kicked in
The next day, stadium
The next day is here and Josuke picked out Adam and Naruto to represent the team for the next round. It was hard and it felt like a gamble to think about.
"I hope this is right. Naruto connects with all of us in a way, but I feel like there's a lot of ways I could have planned this." Josuke said.
Squall shook his head, "Just take your seat." he said.
Josuke sighed, "Are you at least gonna cheer for your team?" he asked. Squall ignored his question, "That answers that." he said.
Then RWBY arrived beside them, "Hey guys!" Ruby greeted.
"Hey Ruby." Josuke greeted while Squall gave her a raised hand as acknowledgment of her presence.
"Did you pick my brother to fight?" Ruby asked as she only saw them.
"Yeah, it's pretty obvious isn't it?" Josuke asked sheepishly. "I don't suppose you want to tell us who you're picking for your fight." he said.
Ruby smirked, "Nope." she said.
"It doesn't really matter. If we win, any one of us will be moving onto the finals." Blake spoke up.
"And we have to vote on that one next." Weiss said as Ruby whined.
"Okay, okay, we're all excited. Let's sit back and watch the beatdown." Yang said as she took a seat. Blake gave Yang an uncomfortable look, "You okay kitty?" she asked.
"I wanted to sit there." Blake said.
Yang didn't bother paying attention to the fact that she sat next to Squall. Not that she noticed or really knew much about the tension between them. Which Blake actually wanted to try and fix.
"Just sit next to me Blake. I'll even let you sit on my lap if you want." Yang said.
"Yang I… never mind." Blake said as she sat next to her partner.
"So who are they fighting?" Ruby asked as the announcers spoke up.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you from out very own academy, Adam Taurus and Naruto Belmont of Team JASN!" Professor Port announced as everyone from Beacon cheered.
"That's my big brother!" Ruby cheered.
"Yeah! Kick some ass!" Yang cheered as well, making Ruby feel suspicious again.
"And from our close friends in Atlas, we have Fujin and Raijin from Team FRSD ("First")!" Dr. Oobleck announced.
Squall narrowed his eyes as he recognized that team from the fights the other day.
At the arena
Raijin smirked at his foes, "So you two work with Leohnhart?" he asked.
"You know him?" Naruto asked with a raised brow.
"You could say that, though our real leader would prefer to fight him himself." Raijin said.
"Too bad, because we're winning." Naruto said as he and Adam drew their swords.
"WRONG!" Fujin spoke up.
Adam sweat dropped, "She's aggressive." he said.
Before the fight began, the arena changed into some a desert like landscape again. This time, the winds were very strong and could potentially make anyone lose their balance upon losing focus.
"WIND. STRONGER." Fujin said.
Naruto cursed, "Damn, they probably have some advantage over wind and lightning." he said from realizing the meaning of their names.
Adam kept a tight grip on his sword, "You lose your confidence?" he asked with a smirk.
"Not yet." Naruto said said.
"Begin!" Oobleck announced.
Raijin twirled his bo staff quickly as lightning started to charge on both ends. Fujin proceeded to toss her chakram like a frisbee at Adam. The bull faunus blocked the attack as the chakram started spinning around like and trying to cut him like a saw blade. Fujin then started to run towards Adam in an attempt to kick him only for her to be pulled away by Naruto's sword chain.
"I got your back Adam. You want the brute or the cyclops?" Naruto asked.
"Who are you calling a brute?" Raijin asked as he slammed down his bo staff over Naruto's sword.
Naruto fell back and quickly rolled away as to avoid an electrical charged attack. However, he did start to feel slightly sluggish as he didn't pull back the chain attached to his sword.
"You fight like your shoe laces are untied." Raijin said as he kept dealing heavy blows.
Naruto groaned as he quickly slid under Raijin, "Earth Style: Rock Pillar Prison!" he yells as he slams his palm into the ground.
Raijin then finds himself trapped in a narrow space by spikes popping out of the ground. Raijin only glared at Naruto as he grabbed a dust crystal.
"Don't you pay attention in science class?" Raijin asked as he put the crystal into his staff. "With a good enough charge, lightning can shatter the earth." he said his body was suddenly charged up by lightning.
Whether or not that was accurate, Raijin filled his body with enough lightning to shatter the earth spikes. Allowing him to move freely once he was out of his prison. Leaving Naruto to act a lot more cautious as it seems that Raijin's semblance is similar to Nora. Only he seems to spread the electrical current in his body like a weapon than just resist it.
'I might need to get more crafty.' Naruto thought as he reeled in his chain.
With Adam
Adam was doing his best to block Fujin's chakram. As the girl repeatedly tossed the weapon around as well as used it to claw at him a few times. It also seems that the intense wind pressure in the arena somehow made her attacks stronger and easier for her to manipulate the chakram's positions.
'Maybe it's a part of her semblance. Still, if I can keep blocking. I can tear into her once I find an opening.' Adam thought as his semblance started to charge up.
"FIGHT! BACK!" Fujin commanded as she tossed her chakram beside Adam.
Adam knew that Fujin intentionally missed him with that attack and quickly blocked the chakram as it came flying back towards him. The masked teen quickly pushed it away. Just in time to parry the kick Fujin tried to land behind him. Only to be sent flying away with a strong gust of wind.
'Maybe she can somehow control the wind around her?' Adam wondered as he got up.
"SURRENDER." Fujin commanded as she kept manipulating her chakram to strike Adam all over his battle.
Adam smirked as he managed to keep up with the attacks, "Let me reply it in a way you will understand." he said before Fujin recalled her weapon. Where Fujin once again jumped right at him, "NO!" Adam said before releasing his semblance.
Fujin narrowed her single eye as Moon Slice became active. At that moment, the surrounding winds started to become stronger around her. Working like some sort of armor, Fujin was able to surround herself in the wind as to reduce Adam's heavy strike. However, it seemed like both fighters were forced into a deadlock before pushing each other away.
As Adam skidded across the ground. He saw a slip of paper trying to fly out of his jacket. Adam quickly pulled it out and looked at the kanji before remembering something. Adam quickly pulled it out and slapped it onto the handle of Blush and pouring a bit of his aura into it.
'This should even the odds.' Adam thought as he charged at Fujin who's chakram started to emit a secondary blade made of wind.
Back with Naruto
Raijin continued to barrage Naruto with quick strikes from his staff. With Naruto trying to keep his balance with all the of the wind pressure tossing him around. While a jutsu would most likely help him out, Naruto was afraid of the recoil with this much pressure. Wind and lightning are essentially useless and using fire might cause the flames to turn against Naruto and result in self inflicted burns. There's also the fact that there's no water source so only earth would be pretty handy.
"It's over!" Raijin yelled as he parried Naruto's sword away. Right before jabbing him in the stomach with his staff, "This is Seifer's win!" he exclaimed.
Naruto merely vibrated for a few minutes until Raijin pulled his weapon back, "Wow, so this is how Nora feels all the time." he said.
"BREAK HIS LEGS!" Nora screamed in the distance.
"Will do!" Naruto yells as Raijin hits him again. Naruto quickly jumped back as the earth started to cover his arm, "Earth Style: Rock Fist!" he yelled as he tried to punch Raijin's head.
The lightning staff user quickly blocked the attack and broke the stone cased arm with his lightning. Before having to block a second rock fist. Raijin gritted his teeth as he pushed Naruto away before slamming his staff onto the ground with enough force to crack it open. Which Naruto avoided by jumping away before launching his chain at Raijin.
Which wrapped itself around his staff and started tugging on it. Raijin stood his ground and pulled back against the chain but struggled as the wind ruined his balance. Which Naruto used to his advantage by loosening his grip. Because when Raijin gave a strong tug against the sword's chain. He ended up pulling Naruto towards him who bursted into petals like Ruby. Raijin quickly tried to destroy the petals with another wave of lightning.
Only to miss all of them as they moved behind him and reformed into Naruto again. Raijin tried to strike behind him only to find himself in a lock with another rock fist. Just as he prepared to break the stone arm with another heavy electrical discharge. Naruto started forming a sphere of chakra in his free.
"I really need to come up with a good name for this technique." Naruto said as the sphere strengthened itself with the wind element.
Before Raijin could try and get out of this situation. Naruto thrusted the spiraling technique into Raijins gut and sent him flying into a rock pillar. The pillar then collapsed on top of Raijin. Finding a decent chance to catch his breath, Naruto looked up at the aura meters.
Naruto Belmont 80%
Adam Taurus 60%
Raijin 20%
Fujin 70%
Naruto turned to Adam who was having some issues with Fujin. However, before he could help. He had to worry about Raijin who still had some fight left in him.
'Hang on Adam. If I can't get to you, hopefully you use the seal.' Naruto thought as he clashed his weapon against Raijin's again.
Back with Adam
Once again, Adam found himself trying to block and parry Fujin's rapid attacks with her chakram. The weapon essentially became more deadly as its secondary function was to create a secondary blade of wind when activated. Making the blows more sharp and deadly whenever they would land.
"PAIN." Fujin said.
"I know you are." Adam said as Fujin glared at him.
Fujin picked up the speed of her assault before Adam started charging more aura into the seal. Despite aura having little ability to actually harm someone. The seal was able to be activate and started making Wilt turn the same shade of red as Adam's aura. As Fujin continued her assault, she quickly ran around Adam and recalled her weapon. Where she proceeded to strike at him one more time as she started to surround herself in the wind surrounding her.
"LOSE." Fujin said.
Adam smirked, "I know you will." he responded before blocking the next attack.
Despite stumbling towards the end of the heavy attack. Fujin quickly spins in the air before tossing her chakram at Adam again. Adam was able to parry the weapon away in time as it started then started moving back towards Fujin. However, it was too late as Adam had enough energy to use his semblance again plus the secret power up he had.
'This is going to exhaust me.' Adam thought as he can feel himself losing a lot of aura fast with his next attack. "Moon Slice." he said just as he struck Fujin.
As the one eyed girl recovered her weapon, it was too late to block. Fujin quickly tried to manipulate the wind around her in order to reduce the impact of the attack. Only for Adam to reveal newfound strength cut through her defense and send her crashing across the arena towards Naruto and Raijin.
Naruto grinned as kicked Raijin away and ran towards Adam.
"Adam, heads up!" Naruto yelled as he formed another sphere of chakra on hand.
Adam smiled, "Let's trade?" he asked.
"You bet!" Naruto responded as he slammed his technique against Adam's sword.
Just as their opponents arrive. Adam side stepped and ran into Raijin's path. While Naruto ran into Fujin who tried to slice at his head with her wind enhanced chakram.
At that very moment, Raijin tried to slam his staff against Adam only for the faunus to use the last bit of his aura for one final Moon Slice. Raijin didn't stand a chance to stop the attack as it snapped through the staff and left a giant scratch across Raijin's chest. Causing him to crash backwards as his aura meter had hit empty.
Naruto avoided Fujin's chakram attacks much to the girl's frustration, "ANNOYING." she said.
"I know you are." Naruto said before taking the hit.
Fujin smirked victoriously before Naruto quickly spins around and kicked Fujin's chin. After briefly disorienting her, Naruto created four Shadow Clones to help him. With two grabbing Fujin and launching her into the air where to more jumped into the air to punch and kick her around. With Naruto dealing the final blow with a spinning heel drop.
"Belmont - Rendan!" Naruto yelled out as Fujin hit the ground hard.
"I think you overdid it." Adam said as Naruto landed.
"You think?" Naruto asked nervously.
"Promise…" Fujin gasped out.
"Eh?" Naruto asked.
"VENGEANCE!" Fujin finished.
"And the winner is Team JASN!" Oobleck announced as the crowd cheered.
"Screw brutality I guess." Adam said as they left.
Right outside
As Adam and Naruto high fived each other for winning. Naruto was surprised to see a familiar face.
"Congratulations on the unorthodox method of victory, Belmont." Winter said as she revealed herself.
"Thanks." Naruto said.
"I'm gonna leave you two alone." Adam said as he left them.
"I'm guessing you're here to watch Weiss without criticizing her?" Naruto asked.
Winter sighed, "I want to try and that's not all. Though, I'm surprised you fought an Atlas team again. Especially Team FRSD, despite their appearance, they are one of our best first years." she explained.
"I guess I'm better than the best and so is Adam." Naruto answered proudly.
"At least you praise your teammates. Still, while that fight was random and it did have many issues worth noting." Winter started to say.
"I don't need your rubric." Naruto interrupted.
Winter raised her hand, "Please let me finish." she said. "As I was saying, while there are issues. I never accounted for how much of a wild card you are. With abilities I cannot keep track of." she said.
"I'm just special." Naruto said bluntly.
"I see that." Winter said giving a slight smile. "I suppose you wouldn't mind explaining yourself would you?" he asked.
"Woah lady, I don't give out secrets right away." Naruto said.
"Very well, I will respect your privacy." Winter said as she let Naruto move along.
As the Atlas soldier waited for her sister's team. Naruto ran into Yang who grabbed his arm.
"Hey Naruto, when I win. We're celebrating over ramen, my treat." Yang said as Naruto smiled.
"Heck yeah!" Naruto said before being tackled down by Ruby.
"I knew it! You asked him out!" Ruby yelled, but Yang quickly ran into the arena with Weiss closely following behind her.
Only to run into Winter, "Hello Weiss." she greeted.
"Hello Specialist." Weiss greeted back.
Winter looked saddened, "I wish you luck on your match. Though I'm sure you're quite capable on your own." she said trying to be encouraging.
"I am, thank you for the kind words." Weiss said as she followed Yang.
Winter clutched her chest as she watched her little sister walk into the arena. As Ruby continued to berate Naruto for being "seduced" by Yang and the promise of Ramen. Naruto sensed pain very similar to what Yang felt when Ruby ignored her at the beginning of the semester.
'Here we go again.' the Belmont thought.

#1 - Ice Queendom
As Weiss continued to go on and one about why Ruby is a child and could not handle reality. She never paid attention to the fact that Ruby intentionally injured herself and went full Titan.
Weiss cracked a smile as she put on her sunglasses and raised up her boo, "I suppose you are still a worthy opponent after all. Though that doesn't mean you will prevail Ruby." she said as she raised her sword in the air and the magic circles pierced the sky. As the elements started to strike all over the city, "For I…"
*SPLAT*
Titan Ruby stepped on Weiss and rubbed her foot into the ground to make sure she stayed dead. Where she then proceeded to rip out a part of the road to wipe off what was left of Negative Weiss.
Yang and Blake sweat dropped, "That was super anti-climactic." Yang said.
"I wonder if Weiss is going to remember this." Blake said.
Waking up
Weiss gasped, "That was so scary." she said.
Blake nodded, "I know, Ruby crushing you like a…"
"Not that! The fact that I never realized how fashionable Esdeath's uniform style is! I can't believe it took me this long to realize it!" Weiss whined.
"What?" Blake asked sounding confused.
2# Jiraiya Does Not See Naruto
Day 1
Jiraiya angrily groaned as his television was falling, "Damn, I really want to see the fights." he said as he tried fixing the television.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the battle between Team JASN and Team SICS is about to…"
Suddenly the television broke, "Crap!" he yelled. Jiraiya then proceeded to switch to his scroll, "Fine, I bet this thing is being streamed." he said.
-No Connection-
Jiraiya cursed his luck, "Fine, I'll drive there." he said.
Unfortunately Jiraiya would arrive too late as all of the festivals fights would have ended that day.
Day 2
Jiraiya made sure to get his seat in person, "Now I can see my baby sister fight this time and the other ones too." he said.
"Presenting! Team JASN and Team FRSD!"
"Yeah! I don't know who they are but whatever!" Jiraiya said as the fighters started to come out.
Only for steam to appear, "A battle among the clouds will take place!" Oobleck announced.
"Damn." Jiraiya said as everyone sounded disappointed.
Day 3
As Jiraiya want to bother his sister, he found a man in a duck costume near Weiss.
"What's this?" Jiraiya asked.
"This is Ruby's brother, don't ask why he's wearing this." Weiss answered.
"Nice to meet you uh…"
"Belmont." Naruto answered.
"Nice to meet you Belmont." Jiraiya said as he went to speak with his sister. 'What a freak.' Jiraiya thought as Naruto left in his costume.
Two years later, Atlas
Jiraiya bursted into Ironwood's office, "Where is my sister!?" he demanded.
"Being guarded by this man who's a martial artist apparently. He defeated my Ace Ops." James said as Naruto was in the room in is duck costume again.
"Sup." Naruto greeted.
"Belmont?" Jiraiya asked.
Naruto nodded, "I'm gonna go change." he said as he left.
"Okay." Jiraiya said as Belmont left the office.
The Day After that
Jiraiya suddenly found himself bumping into an invisible wall, "Ow!" a voice said.
"Who's there!?" Jiraiya asked.
"Me again, I think that Ironwood gave me an invincibility chemical." Naruto answered.
"Belmont?" Jiraiya asked.
"The only one." Naruto answered. "I'm gonna try to wash this off and maybe get some ramen." he said as he left.
"Cool, go do that." Jiraiya said as Belmont left.
But not without bumping into more people.
Jiraiya sweat dropped, "Thinking about it, I wonder what that guy looks like. I don't even know what his first name is either." he said. "I wonder if he would be friends with my apprentice in the past life. I bet that gaki Naruto would befriend any ramen lover." he said before continuing on with his life.
#3 - How To Pick Up Girls
Jaune came riding up to the Beacon parking lot in his new Warthog. Where Sun and Neptune suddenly came up running with looks of excitement.
"Dude, this is one sweet ride!" Sun exclaimed.
"Aw man, I wanted one for Christmas but all I got was Yahtzee." Neptune said.
Jaune snorted, "I know, this thing is pretty awesome. So am I, since I like to give rides and drive around the town. Like a rebel and stuff." he said in an attempt to sound cool.
Weiss and Winter walked by and did not bother to acknowledge the Warthog. Much to Jaune's dismay as he tried to do some cool poses on it. Though the boys from Vacuo have respect for him. Clearly the ladies have no love for the sweet ride.
"I don't get it, isn't this supposed to help pick up chicks?" Jaune asked.
Sun scoffed, "Buddy, this sweet whip would make any boy into a ladies man." he said.
"So where are all the ladies?" Jaune asked.
Suddenly Pyrrha appeared, "Wow Jaune, is that your Warthog?" she asked.
"Yeah Pyrrha, it is." Jaune answered with a bored face. "Hey Weiss, look! I even got a gauss cannon installed!" He said while honking his horn.
"Do you know him?" Winter asked.
"No." Weiss answered.
Jaune looked saddened despite Pyrrha's interest in the vehicle. Meanwhile, Neptune and Sun were fighting over who would sit next to Jaune. Only for all of them to be sent flying as Naruto came in with his own vehicle.
"Haha, a Scorpion tank is a real ride worthy of respect!" Naruto exclaimed.
Pyrrha looked in awe, "That is an amazing Tank." she said.
"I know, it's a real sweet ride." Naruto said as he posed over his vehicle.
"Naruto, if I didn't like Jaune. I wouldn't mind having a nice dinner with you." Pyrrha said.
"Well I wouldn't either." Yang said as she stood on the other side of the tank.
Then Winter came strolling around, "Is this the M808B?" she asked with wide eyes.
"M808C, the turret looks weird and it can overheat, but I feel like it adds room for someone who wants to party." Naruto answered.
"Partying doesn't sound so bad." Cinder said, suddenly appearing beside the tank and tracing her fingers around the neck of the tank.
Jaune sighed as he saw the tank, "Aw man." he said.
"I know how you feel. Sun and I have to share this lame Mongoose ATV." Neptune said he revealed his own vehicle.
"It's not as cool as a tank though." Sun said looking sad.
Suddenly chibi R0tatcid appeared, "You know what is cool? The world of Remnant Secret!" he announced.
"What secret?" Jaune asked excitedly.
Secret: The reason for Beacon's lack of security is all due to Ozpin's poor budgeting. All of the money goes to a secret farm in Vale that provides the coffee beans he needs for… well coffee. You think it's meant to be that easy to break into an academy that trains freelance peacekeepers? Well it is, now you know why.
