Warchief

My name is Hange Zoë, and I am the Commander of the Survey Corps. I represent the entirety of what remains of my regiment and I write to you to the benefit of the citizens of Paradis.

Do not be mistaken; it was no popular decision to ally ourselves with the Beast Titan after the events that took place in Ragako village and Shiganshina. I implore you to keep this in mind throughout our correspondence. I, too, wish to keep these letters amicable and offer the due respect our new allies deserve to the benefit of both Paradis and the nations which Marley occupies, but I implore you to at all times remain aware of what weight this decision holds.

However, I must admit that the nature of this letter is more personal than it is official.

We understand well how far behind we are on the rest of the world when it comes to our technological advancements. I cannot even begin to imagine the complex machinations Onyankopon has told us about. Even with the help of the volunteers, we will need time and resources we may not have in order to progress at a faster rate than the world outside the Walls. I do not believe that staking everything on this one effort will bode us well, so I wish to research a scarce resource that we do possess: the intelligent titans. Our government does not believe this to be a good designation for our time, hence the reason why I chose to write to you personally.

We request your cooperation in this undertaking. We should not want to repeat tests that were already carried out so as to avoid unnecessary harm, and as such request to receive any and all documentation for the research that the Royal Titan Society of Marley has carried out.

Ultimately, we seek to improve our knowledge of medicine and find a way to transfer an intelligent titan without the use of serum or consumption. As a person of science, it would be of great interest to me to take this task upon myself and use the resources we have available to research this matter in an environment where government restrictions do not hold me back as much as they do you in Liberio.

Since a positive outcome may be beneficial to your situation as well and extend your life beyond your thirteen years, I hope that you will understand this drive and support my research.

So I pose to you the following questions:

• May I request to be sent all titan shifter documentation you possess?

• Which directions do you believe we should take when we start research with our titan shifter?

• How may we ensure that this research happens humanely?

Respectfully

Commander Hange Zoë
