By now, I presume that you will have conferred with your associates about the recent events that took place on Paradis.

There is no point in keeping up this lie. It is indeed true that Bertholdt Hoover is alive and within our custody. I offer my sincere apologies for not being truthful about this matter. We intended to slay him in Shiganshina, but we lacked the means and took him with us as a prisoner of war as the next best option. He has been cooperative with us for some time now, though he has not yielded many meaningful answers that your volunteers could not offer us.

We kept this matter a secret so as to protect ourselves from Marley's prying eyes. It is not wise to have publicly available the knowledge that one of its greatest weapons is still alive as they may come to retrieve him, and as such, we chose to keep his existence a secret.

I sincerely hope that this does not cause any issues in our professional relationship.
