Hello Readers: And welcome to this new story that I have decided to write for you guys. While I do know that I have been trying to write new stories for a while, this time I'm really going to try due to the fact that I need to take a break from The Caseys. And that's due to the fact that the story is getting repetitive, and I need to do something else. So, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I am going to start a new story for you guys, and this is it. It's another business story, but with more drama. Hope you like it readers.
Chapter One
The Start of Our Journey
Casey Headquarters, Chicago – November 28, 2012
Matthew Casey, Chairman and CEO of Casey liked the dress down on Friday, that was a fact. But this was the most dressed down that anybody has even seen the Chairman and CEO, but there was as reason for it, a reason completely unrelated to the company. Rather, it was related to his personal life, which was quite complicated. And no, not due to the fact that he has was married and had a woman on the side; that was something that made Matt stand out in the crowd of CEOs. The fact that he didn't have a mistress (that people knew of). But the truth was Matt most certainly did have a mistress, a girlfriend who actually works here at the company; he just wasn't a married CEO. But nobody knew about his girlfriend yet, other than a certain few people. And one of those people would be the CEO's sister Christie. And boy the stories that she could tell you about the drama that's been going on between her brother and his fiancé for a while, drama that was enough for a couple seasons worth of your cheesiest soap opera. Yes, there's that much drama.
So, let's just say that those soaps your grandma watches, that's Matt's life. He has a woman on the side, an official woman, and women who crave to be either his main woman…or the woman on the side. One of which is right outside his door. Her name is Gabriela Dawson, his Personal Assistant. And while she hasn't vocalized it yet, she's wanted to be with him for the longest time. However, that wasn't going to happen due to the fact that Matt was already involved with two other women; one of which is something that Gabriela (or Gabby) could never compete with, as she is a model here in the company. More specifically, she is a model for Casey Intimates and Swimwear. But fear not, Matt isn't the one that runs that division of the company; rather, his sister was in charge of that division. The division in question? Well, that would Casey Creations; a clothing line with four divisions: Casey Family, Casey Intimates, Casey Swimwear, and Casey Business. And that was how Matt met the woman he loves in private, his girlfriend.
Her name is Alexandra "Alex" Jackson, one of the models for Casey Intimates and Swimwear. And let's just say that she's the type of woman that men crave to be with, as she is an ex-Victoria's Secret model. But back to the reason why we are mentioning Alex at the moment. We are mentioning her, due to the fact that she is currently in the midst of walking up to Matt's door after being called by his sister, who was in the loop when it came to their relationship. However, she just had no idea as to why she was being called. "Ms. Casey, can I assist you today?" Turning to look at Alex as she walked up to her, Christie look a breath due to the fact that she was glad that they were alone for the moment; with Matt's personal assistant on a break, she thought that now would be the best time for her to talk to Alex without have to worry about her catching on (due to the fact that she has feelings for him). "Listen, I am not sure if you have spoken to my brother lately." Alex sighed. "He's been ghosting me, meaning I think that…" Christie then stopped Alex.
She stopped her in her tracks, by explaining what's been going on. "OK. Slow down, he hasn't been ghosting you. That's why I called you here, so that I can explain what's been going on." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, before listening to her boyfriend(?)'s sister. "Listen, it's not Matt. Well, it is. He just…Hallie just called it off." Alex just looked at Christie as she said that, completely shocked. "Oh." Christie nodded, as that was what was going on at the moment. "I know, you and my brother probably have a lot to talk about. I just…I think he's a bit lost right now, and he doesn't know what to tell you after everything that's gone on. And based on what I've heard, he's barely left the office; and it's starting to show." Moving to take a look through the windows to Matt's office, Alex could see what she was talking about. "I always told him that I like it when he has a five o'clock shadow." Turning her head, Christie just looked at Alex as she was not laughing at the moment. Not when her brother seems to be depressed, rather than enjoying his work.
And it was also starting to show on the staff, because there has been problems with HR saying that he has been snapping on people as he's just so frustrated. "Alex, this is serious though. We've been getting complaints with HR about how he's snapping at some people." Alex just got worried as she heard Christie say that, as that most certainly was not a good thing. For him to be snapping at people, well that's something that can easily make someone so mad; that they might make a comment that can do a lot of damage to the company. "And let me guess, that's why you called me?" Christie agreed with Alex, as that was the reason why she called her. "Listen, are you in a good place with him?" Alex nodded, as she was going to make sure that she was in a good place with Matt today. "I promise, I'm going to be in a good place." Christie agreed with Alex. "Listen, I am going to go talk to the other executives and say that Matt might be going home." Alex agreed with Christie, before going to hug her. "Thanks for keeping us a secret." Christie agreed with Alex.
She then proceeded to lean back, smiling at the woman his brother loves. "The truth is, I have always liked you better than Hallie. She never loved my brother, and only used him to pay her medical school debts." Alex was surprised as she heard Christie say that, as she's never heard that from her boyfriend. "Matt never told me that." Christie sighed. "I think it's part of his pride. He didn't want to admit that, as admitting that would mean that their entire relationship was based on lies. He wanted to believe that there was something real there, but I think that he's been coming around to the reality; where the truth is that there is nothing real there for him to have with Hallie." Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, smiling at her. "And I hope that you can help me in that goal, so that we don't have to worry about her coming back into our lives and making him all miserable again." Alex agreed with Christie, as she wanted that too. "Believe me. Now that I know he's available, I am going to lock him down." Christie agreed with Alex, smiling at the woman.
She then went to tell her something, that she just knew would make her laugh. "By the way, you have my permission to get knocked up." Alex was confused as she heard Christie say that, unsure of what exactly she was talking about. "Woah, slow down there. What are you talking about?" Christie laughed. "Hello. If you're pregnant with the heir…" Alex then realized just what Christie was saying to her (indirectly). "If I'm pregnant with the heir, then Hallie can't get him back." Christie agreed with Alex as she said that, as that was exactly what she was thinking about the situation. "So please, seduce my brother and get him away from Hallie. She is horrible, and all these breakups are horrible for the company. Do your job, and you can be the new face of Casey Intimates." And that most certainly was a decision that Christie could make, as she is the President and Deputy CEO of Casey Creations. And while she does report to her brother, she has a lot of autonomy due to the fact that she is shareholder in the company; as she own's 50% of Casey Creations.
This is due to the fact that Casey Creations is not entirely owned by Casey but is instead a 50/50 partnership between the two siblings; with Christie operating Casey Creations semi-independently, while also having some say in how the entire company is run. "Listen, I promise that I am going to do my job. The truth is, I have just been waiting a bit to give him space after the breakup, especially for PR purposes. If I want to stay a model here, then I need to make sure that my name stays clear. We don't the press to think I was one of the reasons that the two of them broke up." Christie was quite impressed as she heard Alex say that. "OK. Remind me how you aren't his fiancé? I mean, you already act in the best interest of the family AND the company; how in the world hasn't he ditched the doc, and knocked you up?" Alex laughed as she heard Christie say that, well aware that she is not the biggest fan of Hallie as they are friends. "I promise to keep you in the loop. But maybe try and get someone to take over his meetings this afternoon?" Christie smiled.
After which, she proceeded to hug her again. "You, go get in there and try and move into that nice big house. Enough playing around girl, time for you to get your man!" Alex agreed with Christie as she said that, before hugging her one last time. She then proceeded to make her way over to Matt's office so that she could talk to her about how he's doing right now. And hopefully, he'll be honest with her and let her know just what's on his mind, ahead of the two of them going home so that she can make him feel better (in bed).
Office of the Chairman and CEO – Walking up to Matt's office shortly after speaking to his sister, Alex took a breath as she looked at the man she loves; after which, she knocked on his door with the hopes of him letting her in so that they can talk. So that they can talk to each other, and so that he can tell her himself what's been going on; because even though she heard the story from Christie, she would also like to hear it from the man she loves. She wants to hear it in his words, so that she can know what's really going on. So, she went ahead and knocked on the door to his office with the hopes of him letting her in so that they can talk; after which, Matt turned his head and looked at Alex. Waving her in immediately, he went ahead and continued on the phone. "No, I told you that I want specific hoses. Hoses that I trust Andy, you already know this." Andy being his best friend, as well as the President and Deputy CEO of Casey Fire. As division of The Casey Group, which creates equipment for fire departments, while also providing training.
Training which he only wants to be done with certain equipment. "Andy, we have gone to the academy here in Chicago; and we have also gone to the one in New York City. We both know that the hoses that they use in New York are way better. And if I'm going to have an academy that is going to replace the one in the area, then I am going to have the hoses that are the best in the business. And that means that I want the same hoses that they have in New York; am I clear?" His friend and one of his executives agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know man, and I am doing it. I was just getting those hoses as backup. Remember, they are going to ship hoses to New York City if they need them, before then send us some. Dude, you really need to remember why you put me in charge of this in the first place; and that's due to the fact that you trust me." Matt sighed, agreeing with his best friend as he told him that, well aware that was the truth. He did put him in charge of the division due to the fact that he trusts him explicitly.
Taking a breath, he then went to speak to his friend. "How are Heather and the boys?" Andy laughed. "They are good, glad that I'm finally away from the Chicago Fire Department thanks to their favorite CEO." Matt laughed as he heard Andy say that. "Yeah. Nice try Andy. Just because you're my friend, doesn't mean that you don't get your bonus calculated at the same rate as everybody else." Andy was not happy as he heard Matt say that. "Oh c'mon! My part of the company is the most profitable." Matt laughed. "Andy, shut up and just work. Anyways, I have a visitor here for me." Andy agreed with his boss. "Tell Alex I said that." Matt was shocked. "How did you…you know what, never mind. Talk later." Andy agreed with his friend as he said that, while Matt hung up his phone to look at Alex. "Hey, what are you doing up here?" Alex sighed as she made her way over to his couch. "Come over here." Matt agreed, nodding.
He then proceeded to get up, as he wanted to be with his (secret) girlfriend; heaven knows he needs someone other than Andy to talk to. He would much rather speak to her, than his best friend. After which, he proceeded to just walk up to her woman he loves; and the woman he wants to be with right now so that he can hold her. He then proceeded to put his hands on her hips and looked around. "Nobody." Matt agreed with Alex as she said that, while stepping close to her and kissing her softly; at the same time, Alex put her hands on his face as she started to take things nice and slow with the man she loves. After which, she proceeded to speak to him about something that his sister just talked to her about. But first, she wanted to know whether he was going to tell her himself. "You've been ghosting me." Matt sighed as he heard Alex say that, well aware that was the case. "Here, how about we go sit down? And I can tell you what's been going on recently. A lot has changed." Alex agreed with Matt as he grabbed her hand.
After which, he led her towards the couch that they have here in his office, where he planned on telling her about what's happened.
Sitting down on the couch with his arm around Alex shortly after getting comfortable with her, Matt smiled as he was glad to have a moment alone with her; and to be with her again, due to the fact that they have been like two passing ships in the night. Either he's been trying to avoid her, or she's been avoiding him; they just haven't gotten their times right, until now. "So, what brings you to me office? Or should I say, who brought you to my office?" Alex snickered, as she already knew exactly what he was referring to; and she also knew what he was asking her indirectly. And that would be whether his sister filled her in on what happened, which is why she looked down. "Listen, I know you said that we need to keep us quiet; but that doesn't mean that I don't still love you, and care for you babe." Matt agreed with Alex as she said that. "And apparently, you told your sister?" Matt agreed with Alex. "I told her, to make sure that she doesn't fire you. I want to keep you around here." Alex agreed with Matt, smiling as she looked into his beautiful eyes.
After which, she put her hand on his face and leaned in to kiss him softly. Meanwhile, Matt put his hand on her arm as they took things slow with each other. "I missed you." Alex agreed with Matt, as she's missed him too. "I missed you too, which is why I am still surprised that you didn't tell me what's been going on. Baby, you ended things with Hallie?" Matt sighed, nodding. "I know, I should've talked you about it…" Alex shook her head, as that was not what she was trying to tell him. "Nonsense. If you wanted to end things with her, then that was your right. But you still could've told me, because the truth is I have been mad at you recently." Matt was a bit confused as he heard Alex say that. "Wait, you're mad at me?" Alex sighed. "I was. I mean, you went MIA and ghosted me for a while." Matt sighed, well aware that was the case. "I was doing it, as I wasn't in a place where I was okay with talking to another woman I love; while still getting over the fact that I failed at an engagement." Alex shook her head, as that was not the truth.
If anything, he was the one only that actually tried at the engagement. "Babe, if anything; she was the one that failed you. I mean, you tried your best to keep the engagement going. Meanwhile, she gave up on you and your engagement the first chance she could." Matt sighed, as he knew that was the truth. "Also, I hate to say this baby but…" Matt laughed. "You think she just used me to get through medical school?" Laughing as she got up, Alex decided to move into Matt's lap so that she could cuddle up to her businessman boyfriend; the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. "Your sister thinks the same way." Matt agreed with Alex as she said that, before turning his head and staring into her eyes; after which, he leaned his forehead against hers and smirked due to the fact that he's really lucky to have found someone like her. He then leaned in and kissed her softly. "So, how did my sister get you to come to the office?" Alex laughed. "She simply said…I think Matt needs you." Matt agreed with Alex, as he does need her in his life.
He needs her to be his, as he holds her close and takes it easy with her; yet at the same time, he can't help but wonder if Hallie leaving him is a sign. A sign that his life isn't with her, but that's not something that they need to discuss; rather, he needs to ask her something. "Listen, I am not sure where you want to take this…how you want to proce…" Moving her hand to Matt's neck, Alex interrupted him and then kissed him softly. That way, he couldn't ever think that she was against them going forward with the two of them being together as that was what she wanted to have happen. She wants them to be together. "I am not letting you finish that sentence, as you already know what I want. I don't want to see your heart get broken ever again." Matt smirked as he heard Alex say that, while also leaning in and proceeding to kiss his girlfriend softly. However, the kiss didn't last for long as Alex soon got up.
An action that caused Matt to get confused, due to the fact that he didn't know why she got up. "Hey, why did you just get up?" Walking over to the door to his office, Alex smirked as she proceeded to lock it for them. "Oh." Smirking even more, Alex proceeded to draw the blinds so that she and the man she loves can have some privacy. "Oh, I like this." Alex agreed with Matt as he said that, before making her way back over to him; while motioning him to get up, as she wanted to kiss him. And it didn't take long for Matt to do exactly what Alex wanted him to do, as he got up pretty much immediately and moved close to the woman he loves; that way, he could give her some of what she wanted. What they both want at the moment, which would be each other; and that's exactly what Alex got the moment she walked over to Matt, as he placed his hands on her sides and brought her body against his chest. "So sexy." Alex agreed with Matt as she took things nice and slow with the man she's loved for a very long time. The man she wants now.
And that was why she decided to ask Matt something, related to whether he needed to be here right now. "Just curious, are you done with your work for the day?" Matt smirked as Alex asked him whether he was done work for the day, as he can be done work for the day. "I can be, depending on the reason that you're asking whether I'm done work for the day." Alex smirked, before grabbing Matt's jacket as she stepped close to him. "Because I want to take my boyfriend home and give him some of what he's been missing." Matt agreed with Alex, as that was exactly what he wanted as well. "Want me to pick you up at your place?" Alex smiled. "Yeah, I need to pack up some things." Matt snickered. "Baby, pack up a lot of things. If you're coming home with me, you're staying home." Alex agreed with Matt as he said that, but she needed to hear something first. "Promise me that you're done with…" Matt agreed, as he most certainly was; he was done with Hallie and ready to move on. He's done with the games, and ready for a romance.
So much so, that he got close to Alex, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her very passionately here in the middle of the office; something which he's never done with Hallie before. This is the first time he's done it, and he loves it; due to the fact that he's doing it with Alex. The woman he truly loves, and can see himself creating a life with. And that life is going to start upstairs in their penthouse, where he always gets changed for work; rather than have suits at home, he can keep his suits here where he has a gym. "Let's go up to the penthouse so that I can get changed; then we can go home." Alex agreed with Matt as he said that, as that was something that she wanted as well; well, not all she wanted...as she wanted something else as well. And that would be for him to give her the attention that she honestly believes she deserves, as this is something that she's waited to have for a very long time. But now, she's going to have it. Just not yet, that will happen when they're home.
