Restaurant to Another Remnant

Chapter One: New World, New Customers.

Written By Jlargent.

Me: One of my favorite anime series is Restaurant to Another World. It's a pretty chill anime. So, I was rewatching it and the idea of doing a Crossover story with RWBY popped into my head. I actually talked to my sister and Sony Ninja about the premise, and they liked the concept. Now this will be a two-shot story, but anyone who wants to expand upon this can do so. I do not own RWBY or Restaurant to Another World, typical disclaimers apply.

Ruby Rose's POV.

"So, remind me again why we're out here on a Saturday morning when we could be sleeping in bed?" Yang complained.

"Because of your abysmal score on yesterday's quiz we have to clear out a section of the Emerald Forest as extra credit." Weiss reminds her.

"Hey! It's not my fault that my brain works on a different wavelength than yours." Yang protested.

"Ladies, we should get this over with. The sooner we're finished the sooner we can get on with our day." Blake commented.

"I agree. Let's get this done Team RWBY!" I enthusiastically call out.

"Right, since someone woke us up early and we did not eat any breakfast." Yang growled at Weiss.

"If you hadn't screwed up then you can do without breakfast." Weiss shot back.

"*Sigh* This is going to be a long day." Blake muttered.

Four hours later…

"*Pant* There! Objective complete!" I panted, slightly annoyed that Weiss was pushing us hard, and the growling in my stomach wasn't helping. I raise my head and much to my surprise we were near the ruins where the relics were on our initiation.

"Let's head back. We should at the very least get something to tide us over until dinner." Blake commented.

"How? I'm spent and it's too far to walk back to Beacon." I spoke.

"Argh! I knew I should've suggested getting breakfast before we left instead of letting Weiss drag us off out here without something to eat!" Yang commented glaring at Weiss.

"It's your fault that we're in this mess because you failed that test." Weiss insisted.

"Then at the very least my sister and Blake should've had something to eat. You are not the leader of this group, remember? This is not a dictatorship, and we sure as hell are NOT slaves in the Dust Mines in Atlas." Yang almost shouted.

"ENOUGH!" I shouted, ending a potential argument "Look, all of us were at fault. I should've stopped Weiss so that all of us could eat breakfast, Weiss for not only denying Yang but all of us of any food so we could have enough energy to make it through the day." I commented.

"And I should've had the foresight to pack snacks and drinks." Blake finished off the conversation.

"It's not like there's a restaurant around here." Weiss sighed internally kick herself "I'm sorry Yang. I should've been more respectful instead of dragging all of us here without any food or drinks."

Yang sighs "I'm sorry for getting mad at you, I was tired and cranky as well as hungry." She smirked and we could all sense the upcoming pun "You could say I was pretty Yangry." And we all groan at the failed delivery. I checked my scroll to see if we could contact a bullhead to take us back to Beacon, I groan that there was no signal which was a surprise.

Weiss looked at hers and mirrored my thoughts "Great, no signal." She sighs.

"Really? I thought the CCT is capable of a signal no matter where you are?" Yang asks.

"Despite the coverage there are spots where you cannot get a signal." Weiss informs us "I heard that there was going to be a system update soon, but I did not know that was today." She finishes.

"How long will the update take?" Blake asks.

"From what I remember, it could take the better part of the day." Weiss answers, making the rest of us groan.

"Great, we can either stay here and starve or walk all the way back to school hungry and by the time we make it back it'll be too late to eat anything, and the takeout places can't deliver to the school." Yang complains.

Suddenly Blake perks up and turns her head to the abandoned temple "I just heard something; it sounded like…a bell?" We follow her as she heads to the source and soon, we arrived.

"Am I the only one seeing this or am I hallucinating from the hunger?" Yang questioned.

"If you're hallucinating then we're all sharing the same hallucination." Blake said. There standing before us was…a door. A door like you'd see in front of a restaurant, there was even a little sign, I did not understand the words, but the cat was cute.

"Soo…is anyone going to address the mysterious door in the middle of the Emerald Forest?" Blake asks.

"Could this be some sort of Semblance?" Yang suggests.

"A Semblance that produces doors out of nowhere? Not likely." Weiss scoffs.

"Well, what should we do?" I ask.

"Well, it is a door, maybe we should open it?" Yang suggests.

"Why? I mean there's nothing on the other side. We'd just be wasting our time." Weiss points out. A part of me agrees with her but on the other hand…

"I say we open it anyway, sure it's a distraction but at least it won't be bugging us if we just leave it like that." I said pointing that out.

Blake shrugs her shoulders "I mean it couldn't hurt, and not to mention the lettering on the sign is making me curious as to where it's from."

"Who knows? I mean for all we know there might actually be a portal on the other side." Yang commented.

Weiss sighs "You know what? Fine, at least we'll get this foolishness out of the way." She spoke.

"The fact that a door appearing out of nowhere is not bothering you in the least?" Yang asks her.

"I admit, I am curious as to how this door arrived and the lettering on the sign but that's it. I was thinking that we could take the sign back to Professor Oobleck." Weiss said.

"Doctor." We all corrected.

"Doctor Oobleck, he might be able to decipher the language on the door." She amended.

I turn back to the door "Well, nothing ventured nothing gained right?" I said and I pull the door open, I could hear the sound of a bell as a bright flash of light covers us. I squeeze my eyes shut from the brightness; I slowly open them to see that we were actually in a restaurant.

"We're really in a restaurant…" Yang mutters taking in the scenery. I could only nod in agreement, I'm no expert in design but the feel of the place was comforting.

"Welcome!" an older male voice spoke bringing us out of our stupor and almost immediately I pull out Crescent Rose in its rifle form and there was a man in his mid to late twenties dressed as a chef, staring at us in slight fear at our weapons pointed at him. I return Crecent Rose back into its standby form, seeing this the others follow my lead and put away their weapons.

"I'm sorry sir, you just surprised us." I apologized to the man, I motioned to the rest of the team "You see this door…" I started explaining when the man raised his hand up cutting me off.

"Let me guess, the door appeared out of nowhere and you decided to investigate?" I nodded; the man smiled "That happens far more often than you'd think. This door connects to my restaurant which appears on the day of Satur. I'm not familiar with the specifics, but there is some sort of space/time magic that allows it to connect to multiple places in the other world. Allowing customers from different locations to arrive here and return to their previous location without any problems." The chef explains.

"Don't you mean Remnant?" Weiss asks.

"What do you mean?" the chef asks.

"Our world, it's called Remnant." Blake clarifies.

"You mean you're not from the other world? Now that I get a closer look, your clothing doesn't match those that reside in the other world." The chef hums "This could be a problem. This has never happened before." He explains.

"How so? It's not like the door decided to go AWOL on you." Yang spoke.

"I'm afraid that it may have. You see the door only connects from my world to the other world on Satur. The fact that it has now connected to your world is…worrisome to say the least." The chef points it out.

"Is there anyone you can talk to about this?" Weiss asks.

"I could talk to my grandmother, she was the one that created the door, so she may know something." The chef suggests "So since you're here, how about a free meal? First contact and all that." I smiled at the suggestion "I would also like to know a bit about your world, I suspect that your form of currency may not match mine or the other world's version." He tells us.

"Well, I'm not gonna say no to a free meal. What about you guys?" Yang asks us.

"As long as it's good, I'm up for it." Blake spoke.

"While I am hesitant in the fact that magic actually exists, it may be a good idea to get an idea of the situation and inform Professor Ozpin about this." Weiss agreed.

"We're all in agreement." I tell the chef.

"Very well then. Please sit wherever you like; I'll be back with some menus and complementary water and warm towels." The chef heads to the back. We look around and much to our surprise we see some actual fairies next to a young woman wearing a fancy green dress eating a desert.

"Um, hi. Is it okay that we sit here?" I ask the woman, taking note that her ears were slightly pointed.

"Of course, my name is Victoria Samanark, and this is Tiana Silvario the Sixteenth, Queen of the Fairies." She introduces herself and her companion.

"My name is Ruby Rose, and these are my teammates. Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and my sister Yang Xaio Long. Together, we are Team RWBY." I introduced.

"You and Yang are sisters. But you have different last names." Tiana points out.

"We're actually stepsisters. We have the same father, but different mothers." Yang informs them.

"My apologies if I was out of line with my questioning." Tiana apologizes.

"Nah, it's okay. It happens a lot." I brush off "So, do you have any recommendations as to what to eat?" I ask the two.

"I would normally recommend the dessert menu, but I feel that you may want something more filling." Victoria spoke.

"Can you read the Eastern Kingdom script?" Tiana asks.

"Eastern Kingdom script? What's that?" Blake asks them.

"Hm, that is a problem. I can assume that your form of literacy is quite different than ours." Victoria points out.

"Maybe we could ask for recommendations. This may be a better idea than trying to sort out a solution to a literacy problem, at least for a later date." Weiss suggests.

"Agreed, maybe we could ask for a book on his language, and we can hand him one of ours in exchange." Blake added.

"You just want to read smut that's in another language." Yang teases, Blake blushes deeply Weiss decides to interject before the two start something.

"So, is there anything we should know so that we won't offend anyone that walks in here?" she asks Victoria.

"Well, most of the patrons are human but we also serve other species, demons, mermaids, sirens and plenty of other species." She answers.

"Makes sense, a restaurant has to have food that caters to certain species." Blake confirms.

"For example, Elves tend to eschew milk, eggs, wheat, meat and fish. Preferring to eat foods that are from the forest." Victoria explains.

"But you're eating pudding, which has milk and eggs." Weiss points out.

"Actually, I'm a half elf. Even though I have human parents. From time to time a half elf is born from human parentage because their ancestor has an elf in their bloodline." She points to her ears "Elven ears are longer, it's not that uncommon for a half elf to be mistaken for an elf." She finishes.

"So are half elves discriminated?" Blake asks her.

"Sadly yes, because of our skill with magic that surpasses most humans as well as our longevity of our elf ancestors. We are either forced out of both human and elf villages and become mercenaries drifting from battlefield to battlefield, sorcerers like me, though for me I chose to pursue the study of magic, and finally they can find sanctuary at the few half-elf villages." She sadly explains.

"I know how that feels, there are another species that live on Remnant. They are called Faunus." Blake tells Victoria slowly removing her hairbow to show her Faunus heritage.

"Sorry for the delay, here are your menus." The chef interrupts us.

"Um, Master. We have discovered a problem." Victoria calls out.

"Oh?" the chef.

"Apparently, they don't have a language comparable to the Eastern Kingdom." Tiana tells him.

"By the way, where is Aletta and Kuro? I thought they would be working today." Victoria asks him.

"I decided to give them the day off for their hard work." The chef explains "Since you cannot read the Eastern Kingdom's language maybe I could make some recommendations." he suggests.

"Hm, do you serve Hamburgers and fries?" Yang asks.

"I noticed some seafood so I would like some of that." Blake tells him.

"To be honest, I don't really know what to get." Weiss says looking through the menu pictures.

"The same with me." I tell him.

"Let's see…I know! How about some spaghetti with meatballs, mushrooms and parmesan cheese for…" he trailed off realizing that I forgot to introduce myself to him. I apologized and reintroduced ourselves to the chef.

"As for the spaghetti, I would like that. No mushrooms though." I tell him. The chef looks at Weiss and snaps his fingers as if he had an idea.

"I do have a dish that I haven't added to the menu yet. If you're feeling adventurous, would you like to try it?" he asks her.

"If you recommend it, I would like to try it and give you an honest opinion." Weiss tells him.

"Okay, your order will be out soon." The chef tells us before heading to the kitchen.

"So, you mentioned Faunus." Tiana spoke bringing the previous topic back on track.

"Faunus are humans with animal parts like an additional set of ears or a tail, we also have exceptional eyesight allowing us to see at night without any problems." Blake continues.

"I can assume that not all humans are tolerable of Faunus?" Victoria asks.

"You would be correct. We had a war eighty years ago with the Faunus winning it, as compensation they were given a large island to live on. But the majority of the island consists of an uninhabitable desert, forcing the Faunus to inhabit the coastline of the island. A vast majority of the populace believes that the island gift is a petty way to get revenge for losing the war." Weiss informs them.

"Professor Ozpin would be better explaining this than we could." I tell them.

"Oh? So, this Professor Ozpin is a respectable teacher at your school?" Victoria asks us.

"Professor Ozpin is the headmaster of our school where we train to be the next generation of Huntresses." Yang informs them "You know, maybe we could invite Professor Ozpin here next week so he can learn more about this place." She suggests.

"That sounds like a good idea but how can we convince him of this place?" I ask her.

"Well, the school has cameras scattered throughout the Emerald Forest so I'm willing to bet he already knows about the door-" Victoria interrupts her.

"Actually, this place is called "Western Restaurant Nekoya". She spoke "But everyone prefers to call is "The Restaurant to Another World"." She explains.

"Right, "Nekoya" but I think we should get pictures of this place before we leave as proof." Yang explains.

"Pictures, camera?" Victoria asks, tilting her head sideways.

I pull out my scroll "We have a device that allows us to communicate to each other from far away but also can take a picture." I explain pointing to the camera lens "The fact that this place exists is fantastical so Yang is suggesting we get a picture of the patrons, with their permission first, so we can use this as proof that we were here." I tell her.

"Fascinating, I am trying to create a communication spell, but your device far exceeds anything I can currently create. Perhaps, I could create something similar." Victoria gushes.

"Speaking of pictures, can we please take a picture of the two of you? I promise that we can develop the pictures and send you the copies. For future viewing." Weiss asks. The two nod and I remember to turn off the flash so that I could not blind them. I show them the results and they were amazed by the detail. And soon enough our food had arrived.

"Now for Weiss, I decided to experiment with some new dishes. Sauteed onions, on fried brown rice with a steak that's well done and with brown gravy." He explained when he handed us our food.

"This looks very good. And the scent alone is making me even hungrier." Weiss states using a knife to cut the steak. She takes a bite, and the look shows that she was savoring the flavor, she then tries the rice, and the look of happiness was self-explanatory.

"This is very good; you certainly live up to your reputation as a master chef." Weiss states. The chef smiles at the compliment.

"By the way, I was wondering if we could take a few photos to show our headmaster? While the food was excellent it wouldn't feel right to keep this a secret from him." Blake asks him.

"As long as the patrons give permission, and it is restricted to your headmaster I see no problem with it. We can talk about any possible problems the Nekoya could present to your world." The chef agreed.

"Do you have any, books on the Eastern Kingdom language Master?" I think it would benefit if we could get an alphabet from their world so you can make some menus for those from Remnant that could arrive here." Victoria explains.

"I'll have to see about getting some books, but I think its doable." The chef agrees "I think I can get some when the door appears again next week." He tells us "Will you and Artorius help with the translation?" he asks Victoria.

She nods "Of course, I would be more than happy to assist with the translation. And I am sure that teacher would be happy to assist with it as well." She smiled.

"Um, who's Artorius?" Yang asks.

"Artorius is a regular patron here; in fact, he has been a customer since my grandfather started this restaurant fifty years ago. He is also Victoria's teacher in magic, and Victoria was also the one to come up with the dessert menu for the restaurant." He explains.

"Amazing, you must be a prodigy in terms of magic." Weiss gasps.

Victoria blushes "While it is true that I am skilled in magic, I do not consider myself a prodigy in any sense. I prefer to focus my attention to research in how to utilize magic in unique ways, for example I did create a box that allows me to preserve my pudding cups by utilizing ice magic." She tells us.

"Wait, you helped with the dessert menu, right? That must have been, what fifty years ago? But that's impossible." Blake spoke.

"One of the traits of a half-elf is that we also inherit the longevity of an elf. Though we do not live as long as an elf, I was quite young when my teacher introduced me to the Nekoya. But I did indeed help his grandfather develop the dessert menu for the restaurant." She informs us.

"I would imagine that having that would be a burden if anything." I tell her.

"True, there are many half-elves out there that resent their parentage, I would rather see it as an opportunity to make a difference while having the time to do so. And I have that time in great amount." She points out. We decided to focus on our meals, which we thoroughly enjoyed to the point that we had ordered seconds. We also met some of the other patrons, one of them being Queen Lastia the current ruler of the Demon Kingdom. And even a lizardman, thankfully each of them agreed to a picture, and soon I the restaurant was almost empty save for us and the chef.

"Well, it's almost closing time. You should get ready to leave." He tells us.

"Thank you for the food, sir. It was wonderful." Weiss tells him.

"By the way, what is your name?" Blake asks him "Throughout the entire time we were here everyone called you Master since you are the master of the place. So, what should we call you?"

"Just call me "Master" everyone else does. I'm used to it by now." He answers as the door rings announcing a customer "Ah, my last customer of the night." He announced as a woman with horns and assets that I would swear is making Yang jealous saunters in carrying a large pot. She notices us and raises an eyebrow.

"Oh, new customers?" she asks bemused.

"New world actually." Master tells her, she looked surprised.

"Well, this is an interesting development. I assume that you plan on talking with your grandmother about the situation?" she asks him.

"I plan to do so when I retire to my room." He tells her.

"Very well then, is my order ready?" she questions him.

"Of course, one pot of Beef Stew to go." He hands her an equally large pot of beef stew; she casually lifts the pot and carries it easily "Please come again!" he calls out as she walks out the door.

"Who was that?" I ask Master, there was something about her that made me nervous.

"That was the Red Queen, according to my grandfather she is one of the six pillar dragons that are extremely powerful." He answers.

Yang whistles "Really? Damn, sexy and powerful as hell? If I wasn't so nervous around her, I would've asked her out on a date." She states.

"You would be willing to try to flirt with an all-powerful dragon so you could get laid?" Weiss asks her in shock.

"…What's your point?" she replies.

"Okay, that's enough. We need to head back and get some sleep." I interrupted before an argument breaks out.

"Ruby has a point; we've been gone for hours and no doubt that Professor Goodwitch might have sent a search party for us." Blake tells us.

I turn to the Master "We'll be back in the future. And we'll pay for the meal." I tell him.

He smiles "I have no doubt that you will be back. Have a good evening you four. By the way, I have some takeout to give your headmaster and you did mention this Professor Goodwitch is also a respected teacher who works closely with him, so I have some Chicken Teriyaki sandwiches for Ozpin and an order of Fried Chicken Strips with lettuce and lemon and a dipping sauce for Professor Goodwitch." He hands us two boxes with Ozpin and Goodwitch on them indicating who they go to "Please come again." He said as we exit. I blink, my eyes adjusting to the dark of the night of the ruins. If it weren't for the plastic bag in my hands indicating the takeout within, I would almost think the entire experience was a dream.

"So, we're back, right?" Yang asks.

"I would assume so." Blake answers.

"Weiss, can you get a hold of a bullhead?" I ask her.

She checks her scroll "We have a signal so I can call up Professor Goodwitch and she can send someone to pick us up." she proceeds to do so, after a moment she hangs up "She's sending a bullhead and will be here in ten minutes." She informs us.

"So, that happened." Yang says.

"You mean a literal restaurant appearing out of nowhere and we had a free meal? Then yes it happened." Blake said.

"Right now, I'm more tired than anything but I can sleep when we return to our dorm." Weiss comments. I could see where she was coming from.

"Whelp, bullhead's here." Yang said and we could see Professor Goodwitch standing nearby it.

"Where were you four? You were missing for hours." She asks us.

"It's a long story Professor. We need to talk to Professor Ozpin about what happened." I tell her.

Twenty Minutes Later: Professor Ozpin's Office.

"I must admit this is quite the tale." Professor Ozpin comments while looking at the photos that we had taken "If it were not for the food and the photographs, I would almost think that it was a fairy tale." He muses.

"Emphasis on Fairy." Yang puns making us save for Ozpin groan.

"Yang! You were restricted to one pun a day remember?" I tell her.

"Hey, it's after midnight. Thus, it's a new day." She laughs.

"You four should go get some sleep, we can discuss what we should do in the afternoon." He tells us. We thanked him and head off to bed.

Professor Ozpin's POV.

"So, what is your opinion, Glynda?" I ask her.

"Those four have the strangest luck to encounter a literal restaurant from another world while performing an extra-credit assignment." She comments before taking a bite out of the piece of chicken that was provided by Nekoya.

"I must admit, I prefer simpler meals and this sandwich is nostalgic to me." I tell her reminiscing about some of the family dinners that I had.

"What should we do then sir?" she asks me.

"…How would you feel about going to a new restaurant next weekend?" I ask her.

End of Chapter One.

Me: Well, that takes cares of Chapter One. I was surprised by how easily this went. The only problem I had was deciding what Ruby and Weiss should eat. I had to make up something for Weiss, but I think I did a fairly good job at the results. So, get ready for Chapter Two which will be soon.

As always Hoody Hoo!
