A/N: I wrote this for KagamiPINKAgreste, mainly because 1. I wanted to give her something to hold her over until I post this new Sonic fic that I'm excited about, and 2. I feel like she's had a bit of a hard week, so I wanted to give this to her to cheer her up, plus she's one of my favorite people.

Also, I'm going on vacation next week, so I'll have limited Internet access. I'll try to have an update or two for next Friday, though.

Today was a modestly warm Friday in Paris, and Adrien Agreste and Kagami Tsurugi were leaving the Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie with a bag of Portuguese-style sweet rolls. Going to the bakery and trying new treats was one of their favorite activities, although it had been a rather solemn one today because of Kagami's disposition, which Adrien took notice of:

"Kagami, you've barely said anything to me since we met up today. Is everything OK?"

Kagami nodded weakly. "I'm all right, Adrien. I've…I've just been thinking."

"Thinking? About what?"

"I was looking up random quotes online, and I found this one by Aristotle that really resonated with me, and now I can't get it out of my head."

"What's the quote?"

"He said: 'He who has overcome his fears will truly be free.'"

Adrien smiled. "Interesting quote. Any particular reason it's stuck in your head?" He took a bite of a roll.

"Adrien, ever since I enrolled in the same school as you, I've been through so much with you, Marinette, Luka…everybody, and in all my travails, I've come to realize that there are greater evils than my mother. Granted, she is still what one would term a 'Grade-A bitch', but I've decided I'm not going to be afraid of her anymore. I'm going to stand up for my rights and let her know exactly what I think of her." Kagami squeezed the roll that was in her hand.

Adrien put a hand on her shoulder. "And I'm proud of you for doing so, Kagami! No matter what happens, I promise, I'll back you up every step of the way! I know you'd do the same for me in regards to my father."

Kagami looked deeply into Adrien's emerald green eyes. Those, combined with his sweet smile, were just too good for her to resist.

"Adrien…thank you."

Kagami gave Adrien a big hug, which he gladly returned. In a way, they were both alike, having been denied affection by their respective parents. However, ever since they'd found each other, they'd found the one person who would never yell at them, who would never impose Germanic demands on them and just generally treat them like caged animals. With each other, they were free to just be themselves, to confide their deepest secrets and their greatest hopes and fears in each other. More so, they could actually share in romantic moments such as touching hands during a dinner out at a favorite restaurant, snuggling in a warm bed at night or something as steamy as ripping one another's clothes off while making out. As they held each other, nothing else mattered…well…almost nothing…

"Hey, I'm glad we're happy for each other, but it's camembert time, Kid Cat!" said Plagg.

"Don't worry, Plagg!" said Adrien. "You'll get your trademark cheese soon enough!"

"Confucius says: bread is like the sun. It rises in the yeast and sets in the waist," said Longg.

Kagami facepalmed. "Longg, why do you have to ruin our romantic moments with your false Confucius quotes?"

"Believe me, I was there, Kagami-chan. I should know."

Adrien laughed. At first, Kagami gave him a look of disbelief, but then she had a little chuckle herself, happy to have a guy like him.

Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
