Chapter One - Trash Duty, Saturday, 10:00 AM
Lincoln Loud had one thing on his mind and he was determined to see it through. It was finally Saturday and he could take all the time he needed to do absolutely nothing. Well to him he saw it as relaxing, several new comic books stacked at his side and his trusty walkie-talkie just in case Clyde called, Lincoln had everything at his ready.. Only thing he wasn't planning for was when his mom called him downstairs.
Groaning annoyed, Lincoln clothed himself and entered the kitchen where his mom, Rita was standing by his father, Lynn Sr who was working on dinner for later tonight.
"Lincoln, before I say anything I want you to look around the kitchen and tell me if you notice anything out of place." His mother said as Lincoln looked around. The kitchen was spotless and looked like your average suburban setting. He would only shrug his shoulders in response.
Rita sighed through her nose and said, "Are you sure? Maybe it's right in front of you?" She pressed on as she tilted her head down at something. Lincoln looked where she was looking realized what Saturday was. How could he have forgotten? He never forgets-
"'Chore Day' Lincoln, it's your responsibility to take out the trash, why am I reminding you?" His mother said as she held her arms at her hips. Lincoln honestly didn't know what to say. He never forgets Chore Day, ever. But yet, he did? Than a thought struck his mind. 'Wait, has it really been all day? I swear it was just.." The sole boy in the house trailed off as he looked at the time, 5:44 PM. That's.. Weird?
"But that's not.. It was just morning.." Lincoln thought aloud as his father spoke up, "Well Lincoln whatever time it is, it's still your responsibility. Now, go round up all the trash in the house and take it out."
"But-"
"No buts young man!" His father put his foot down and Lincoln could only nod. As he turned towards the steps all his sisters were coming down sans Lori and Luna.
"Dang, it sucks to suck Stinkcoln!" Lynn Jr, his older sister called out as she literally front flipped over him. Lincoln only rolled his eyes in response as he made his way upstairs. 'Why didn't any of them let me know about Chore Day?' He thought to himself as he gripped his fists annoyed.
Lincoln started in his own room first, his mood severely down than before. Looking towards his comic books only made him hate rounding up the trash all the more. He never forgets about Chore Day, it's the whole reason his parents never get on his case. 'Maybe I should take a break from comics for a bit? No. That's crazy. But.. where did the time go? Last I checked it was only just ten in the morning!' He thought to himself as he finished and his room and entered Lana and Lola's room.
After collecting all the trash in Luna and Luan's room he made his way to the bathroom, which proved to be more of a hassle because the trash had been piled together from the day. As Lincoln tried to swiftly take it out and into his own trash bag, it would topple over and spread across the bathroom floor narrowly missing the hole as Lincoln groaned aloud.
After cleaning that up he looked at the clock on the bathroom's tiled wall, 6:20 PM. He sighed in defeat as he made his way over to the last room, Lori and Leni's. He let out a groan since he knew this was going to be a pain. Lori was always so uptight about her room even though she was technically sharing it with Leni, so it wasn't just hers. Lincoln had that thought cross his mind more times than he'd like, he's also learned to ignore it because of Lori's threats. The only thing on his mind now was if he gets this done then he doesn't have to worry about it anymore and can head to dinner.
A thought crossed his mind as he remembered he didn't see Lori downstairs with everyone else when they went to dinner, same as Luna. Weird. He didn't see Luna in her and Luan's room when he rounded up their trash. It was odd but Lincoln didn't pay it any mind. 'Whatever. Just need to hurry up and get this over with.' He went to knock when he heard Lori's voice through the door.
"How much time do we have?" She said, asking someone.
Lincoln wasn't usually one to eavesdrop, that was more Lola's thing, but for some reason, he didn't let his presence be known and pressed his ear against her door to listen closer.
"About a week? Maybe less? Lisa could only give an estimate." That sounded like Luna. 'So Luna's with Lori. What are they talking about? What's going on in a week?' He thought to himself.
"That's.. That's not good. The closer they get the more his abilities will manifest." Lori said as it sounded like she sat down. There was a pause. 'Abilities? Are they maybe talking about a show they've been watching? But all Lori cares about is Bobby and romance, and all Luna cares about is anything music related. This doesn't make any sense.'
"There's a chance they won't. He is only half blooded like the rest and he's already twelve." Luna said with a sound of optimism in her voice. 'Half blooded? Like the rest?'
"We don't know that. Lisa said even if they're half bloods their DNA is still mostly pure, they're basically full blooded." Lori said as Luna sighed and spoke, "Then we need to tell him." A quick silence, maybe three seconds followed as Lori responded, "You're literally crazy. No. Absolutely not!" Lori's voice gained the edge he and his sisters are all too used to, yelling in a whisper so as to not gain the rest of the family's attention, "He's a twelve year old boy Luna, he's far from responsible-" Luna cut her off as it sounded like she stood up, "And the power inside of him is thousands of years old dude! What's the pressure? If we tell him, train him now, he'll be ready to figh-"
"No Luna. I'm not going to say it again." Lori said as Luna went quiet. Lori's voice had her usual bossy tone but this time, Lincoln shivered at how serious she sounded. He'd never heard her like that before. A pause followed, this one longer than before.
"Fine." Luna finally spoke up, "But when they arrive and he can't defend himself, don't look for my help. You won't get it from me." Suddenly the doorknob started to turn as Lincoln had to think on his feet. As Luna opened the door she was shocked to see her little and only brother standing there, Lori wondered why Luna was just standing there as she approached the door, her expression now matching Luna's.
Luna looked to Lori as the two exchanged some sort of silent agreement, then back to her little brother. She spoke up, "Lincoln.. What did you he-"
"Trash." He said holding up his trash bag to her.
"...What-"
"I'm on trash duty. I'm here for Lori's trash. I sorta.. Well I did, forget about it all day." Lincoln really hoped that worked. Luna didn't say anything as her expression told Lincoln she was wondering if this was a lie or not. It felt like she could see right through him. It didn't matter though as Lori handed him her trash and pulled Luna back inside her and Leni's room, "Great! Thanks Twerp I was wondering when you were going to come by and grab it, now go away!" She slammed the door in his face as he held his knees.
He couldn't believe that actually worked. He looked at the trash in his hand that Lori had given him as he added it to the others. Their conversation still on his mind. 'What were they talking about, more importantly, who?'
As Lincoln walked outside to the front lawn, he opened the trash can as he went to lift the trash inside, only it was heavier than he anticipated and fell backwards with the trash bag all over him. Annoyed, he pushed it off of him and stood up clenching his fists.
"It's just a stupid bag of trash. How hard can it be." He said aloud as he grabbed it again this time walking backwards to gain some ground. Using all his strength, he threw the bag of trash inside the can. What he wasn't expecting was when he threw it into the air.. And it kept going.. And going.. Until you couldn't even see it anymore. Lincoln went quiet. He looked at his hands then back into the evening sky.
He just threw the trash into space. He looked around to see if anyone had seen him. He saw and heard nothing except the birds in the trees. He then ran back inside as he figured out who his sisters were talking about.
He's only twelve.
The closer they get the more his abilities will manifest.
The power inside of him is thousands of years old.
Lori and Luna were talking about him.
