The Fury

(They are both sitting in the meeting room, alone)

M - I don't know what you expect of me exactly.

D - I told you. You are my apprentice, you do my bidding.

M - But, I'm still a Jedi. No matter what you think happened earlier, that fact doesn't change.

D - Is that so?

(She looks at him inquisitively)

D - A Jedi would have chosen death over kneeling to a Sith.

(She lowers her eyes)

M - Yes, you are correct.

D - So, how much of a Jedi were you to begin with? I gave you a choice. You chose this.

M - Yes. I did. Indeed, I did.

(She looks at him, they look at each other in silence for some time)

D - You are very beautiful.

M - You said that before.

(She smiles)

D - I'm guessing you get that a lot.

M - Not as often as you may think.

(She smiles)

M - You are very attractive also.

(He leans closer)

D - Do the Jedi form relationships?

M - You are asking about the order's stance or mine?

(He smiles)

D - Well, both.

(She gets more comfortable on the couch)

M - Well, the order shuns attachment, but there is no prohibition to relationships. Some Jedi even get married.

D - Really? I thought they were stone cold icicles when it came to feelings.

M - No, we feel. But we are taught from a young age to be wary of them, to control them.

D - They.

M - Huh?

D - You say "we" when you should say "they".

M - Right… It's gonna take a while to grow accustomed to my new… hum… situation.

D - Sure. Go on.

M - What else do you want to know?

D - Do they have families? Children?

M - Children yes, but no family. The children are raised as all young prospects are. None of us really knew our parents

D - We heard stories about that. Our parents used to tell us that the Jedi are kidnapping children and if we don't eat our food, or do our chores, we would also be taken.

(She laughs)

M - Really? That's funny. Many families would try to bribe the Jedi to take their kids.

(He smirks)

D - Another reason the Republic is going down. They are mostly stupid, useless people.

M - You really hate the Republic.

D - Don't you hate the Empire?

(She looks at him rather intensely)

M - Am I a citizen of the Empire now?

D - Yes.

M - Oh…

(She looks down)

D - And what about your stance towards relationships?

(She smiles, looks at him)

M - You want to know if I have a boyfriend?

D - Yes.

M - I don't.

D - Are you a virgin?

(She laughs out loud)

M - You don't mince words!

D - So?

M - No, I'm not. Not that's any of your business.

D - It's good to know.

M - Why?

D - I thought it was obvious. I'm attracted to you.

(She pauses for a moment, they are looking at each other)

M - Can a master have a relationship with his apprentice?

D - A Sith can do as he pleases.

M - So, Sith are the ultimate authorities in the Empire?

D - It is called the Sith Empire.

M - You don't answer to anyone then?

D - To my master. He to his master, and ultimately we all answer to the Emperor.

M - Is your ambition to be the Emperor?

D - Now, that's a bit much.

(He moves slightly back on the couch)

M - If there is a pyramid of power, isn't it logical that all relatively close to the top aspire to ultimately end up there?

D - You are already grasping the Sith philosophy. Very good. You should begin studying the Sith code as soon as possible.

M - Right… the Sith code.

D - I will bring you a copy, along with some appendixes.

(He gets up)

D - You should start acclimating yourself with your new situation.

(She gets up)

M - Yes, you are right.

D - Master.

M - Excuse me?

D - "Yes, you are right, master" accompanied preferably with a slight bow of the head.

(She laughs, he looks at her disapprovingly)

M - Yes master.

(She bows her head slightly)

D - Excellent.

(He starts walking away, she does the same, he stops, he turns)

D - Oh, apprentice.

(She stops, turns)

M - Yes master?

D - If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. I have a more liberal approach to teaching than my master had during my apprenticeship.

M - Thank you master.

(She bows her head slightly, he walks away, she does the same)
