The Craftsman

Mid-Morning

Charlie sighed as he ate some cereal, amazed that Don had somehow managed to talk him into taking a day off, though given his workload due to finals and the big case they had just finished, he couldn't complain too much.

Too bad that there was no one around for him to have the day with. Don had to leave for a conference that he couldn't get out of, otherwise they would have gone to a movie together or just watched TV altogether. Though Don would be able to go meet with Robin in the nearby town where she was working a case. Amita had to deal with a family emergency that needed to be dealt with in New York City.

Alan had to go to San Francisco due to a business issue where he and Stan had to explain a misunderstanding with a client, though he couldn't remember what exactly, just something about the size of the building and then they had to leave in a hurry to get there.

Colby and David were doing some training that wouldn't be over for another few days, so he didn't have their company either. And Megan and Larry went away for the weekend and he didn't want to try to bother them.

He decided that he'll check to see if anyone was available later like Liz or Nikki, as he knew that they were working at the office on a short day and if they wanted to meet somewhere for coffee or something.

He watched tv for about an hour before finding himself bored once again and decided to look through some books that he hadn't read yet.

After reading a couple novels that piqued his interest, which Don had brought home once as he encouraged Charlie to expand his reading habits, Charlie was glad he did, as he was amazed that Don found a few good historical fiction novels, and he made a mental note to thank him when he got back home.

After finishing the second novel, which was about two people investigating several disappearances during the Cold War, he decided to see if Liz and Nikki were available to hang out or not.

Luckily for him, they both had just finished up some paperwork and were going out to a movie and were also wondering if he wanted in.

"Sure, I'm in, meet you there." Charlie answered happily as he grabbed his keys, glad that he had so many people in his life that he can hang out with now and he can get the scoop of what has been going on at the office and the like.

Fin.
