Chapter 2: Party Planning

Thalia approached Percy Jackson.

It was time to use her powers to make other people's lives better.

"Hey, Percy!" exclaimed Thalia.

"Yes, Thalia?" asked Percy.

"i have good news. Apparently I can make other people gamers as well. It's not limited to just me." spoke Thalia.

Just because Zeus was the strongest god around doesn't mean that she had to be the strongest half-blood around.

Though she wouldn't mind toning down Clarisse's ego a peg.

"Are you sure that won't paint a target on our backs? Being a halfblood is dangerous enough." noted Percy. The children of the elder gods were considered to be the biggest threat, and Thalia was one of them.

"I think we might be in enough danger already. Atlas has returned." warned Thalia.

"Atlas?" asked the teenage boy.

"He's the titan who was forced to hold up the sky by my father. I would imagine he's looking for revenge." explained the teenage girl. He would definitely bear a grudge.

"And you're worried that he'll take revenge by killing you?" questioned Percy.

"Now that I think of it, that would be a good revenge scheme." explained Thalia. She knew that her father didn't want her soul to go to Hades for that reason. If there was one thing that Hades could hold, it was grudges.

"I suppose it would be a good idea for you to grind then." noted the boy.

"Atlas must be pretty strong to be able to hold up the sky for all these years. So the more grinding we do, the better." spoke Thalia.

Now...how did this work?

"Would you like to make Percy a gamer? Yes or no?" questioned the messenger.

Thalia nodded.

Percy started receiving messages of his own.

"Congratulations! You are now a gamer!" exclaimed the messenger to Percy.

"Your level is almost the same as mine...why doesn't that surprise me?" questioned Percy.

"No surprise there." answered Thalia.

The messenger told Thalia about Percy's hydrokinetic abilities, but she already knew about them.

The dungeon with two stars was Level 6...which was just above half their level.

So it looked safe.

Inside were serpents that attempted to bite them.

It looked as if they were poisonous.

Luckily Percy could not be poisoned by them because the water washed away the poison.

Thalia had something to worry about though.

But not too much, because there were antidotes inside the dungeon.

There were also blue slimes.

"I guess we're encountered our first palette swap." noted Thalia.

"Palette swap?" asked Percy.

"RPGs have a habit of reusing the same enemies with different colors." explained the teenage girl.

"Oh yeah." noted the boy.

There were also hobgoblins. They too were palette swaps of the goblins. They had orange skin instead of green skin.

And there were also wolves. It seemed there was a variety of monsters that they could fight.

"I am not looking forward to being used as a chew toy." noted Percy.

"I imagine you aren't." answered Thalia.

This dungeon had two different floors.

Most likely, the monsters on the second floor would be stronger.

And indeed they were.

There were giant spiders on the next floor. Unsurprisingly, they shot webbing.

"I should consider myself lucky I didn't invite Annabeth here." noted Percy.

"Yeah...she would flip if she saw spiders of this size." nodded Thalia.

She herself considered herself lucky that she was in a cavern and not in a tower. She didn't do well with heights, even if she was the daughter of the sky god.

She might be brave enough to do a tower dungeon someday. But for now she was content with these underground dungeons.

They encountered sahagin, who emerged from the water.

They were wielding spears.

But unfortunately, Percy had an advantage in this element.

And the sahagin's attacks did little damage to him.

Being the son of the sea god had its perks.

And to make matters worse, Thalia's electricity did wonders against them.

"I have to admit, we're making a good team." noted Thalia.

"We sure are." agreed Percy.

Percy noted a message saying that he had formed a bond with Thalia...which meant that he could use cryokinesis.

"It looks if as I can use cryokinesis now that I've formed a bond with you...I wonder why?" asked the boy.

"Probably because I'm cool?" asked Thalia.

Percy chuckled.

The boss of the dungeon was an ogre.

He wasn't attractive. Not Medusa ugly (otherwise, Percy and Thalia would have been turned to stone just by looking at him), but ugly nonetheless.

"Me crush you flat!" exclaimed the monster.

"To be honest, I'm not surprised that the author included one, given that cyclops and ogres are similar." noted Thalia.

"Did you break the fourth wall?" asked Percy.

"I guess the messenger is starting to rub off on me." spoke the teenage girl.

"I know what you mean." answered the teenage boy.

Fortunately, Thalia got an idea.

She had Percy splash the ogre with water, then she zapped it with electricity.

"Aargh!" exclaimed the ogre. He had learned a valuable lesson about water and electricity.

However, he punched Percy in retaliation.

"Ow!" shouted the teenage boy, who was knocked backwards.

This ogre packed a punch. It wasn't as strong as Polyphemus was, but it was strong nonetheless.

Luckily, Thalia could use healing rain on him.

And it did twice the healing for him since he was the son of Poseidon.

Percy stabbed the ogre and it collapsed to the ground.

He then received a treasure chest.

"Something tells me we can make ourselves rich by doing these dungeons." noted Percy. This would be a good way to support his mother. Though he was pretty sure his dad was already loaded.

"True. But money won't buy us happiness." answered Thalia.

"But it will buy us new equipment, right?" asked the teenage boy.

"Yes, it will." nodded the teenage girl.

They decided to buy some new armor.

Hopefully this would give them an edge against the titan army.

Percy wondered if he should make Grover a gamer next.

That way they could venture into dungeons as a trio.

Speaking of Grover, he decided to warn them of something.

"There's a cyclops attacking the camp!" exclaimed Grover.

Sure enough, an alarm was going off.

It was a good thing that they had installed.

There were crazy things that could happen at Camp Halfblood.

"You have received your first quest!" shouted the messenger.

'Let's hear the details." spoke Percy.

Granted, he already knew at some level what was going on, but still.

"There's an evil cyclops rampaging throughout Camp Halfblood! Success: You get 1000 exp and an upgrade for your weapon! Failure: You get your butt handed to you by the cyclops! Accept or refuse?" asked the messenger.

"I don't think we have a choice in the matter." spoke Percy. Though he sure didn't want the cyclops to clobber him.

So they accepted the quest.

Sure enough, the cyclops was indeed rampaging throughout Camp Halfblood.

"You think more of these quests will pop up from time to time?" asked Thalia.

"Yes, they will!" exclaimed the messenger.

"I guess we won't have to worry too much about level grinding then." noted Percy.

Unsurprisingly, the cyclops's weak point was its eye.

But they had to avoid his fists.

"Me hungry! Me want half-bloods to eat!" exclaimed the cyclops.

"We're not on the menu today!" shouted Thalia.

Percy used his ice powers to freeze the cyclops's legs.

"Me feel cold..." remarked the cyclops, who had been stopped in his tracks.

This gave Thalia an opportunity to ram her spear through the monster's eye.

"Aargh!" exclaimed the cyclops.

He collapsed to the ground.

It looked like he had breathed his last.

Well, maybe not his last. Monsters had a habit of coming back after a while. Though the duration depends on the monster.

Because they completed the quest, they received exp, which was enough to level up.

Their weapons were now a little stronger as well.

"Congratulations! Though I'm not sure how you slew the cyclops so quickly." noted Chiron.

There were certainly other halfbloods that could slay a cyclops (it would be best not to tell Tyson that), but Thalia and Percy had probably broken the record for it.

"Let's just say we've received a gift." explained Percy.

Sure enough, the campers were very happy with them.

For a moment they thought they were going to be cyclops food.

Thalia noticed there was a quest board nearby.

Apparently, she could do more quests if she wished to receive more rewards.

None of the other campers seemed to notice it.

Perhaps it would be best if she decided to do another quest.

She decided to weigh her options.

"Let's see now..." said Thalia.

There was a quest to slay a troll.

She decided to do just that.

She succeeded, though the regeneration abilities that the troll had proved to be a problem.

The quests had letters indicating their difficulty.

It seemed like a bad idea to take on a SSS rank quest at her current level.

No doubt that would have her deal with fearsome monsters.

On the other side, the F Class Quests seemed too easy to her.

One of them was to kill a goblin.

She had already done that pretty easily.

So she decided to do a D Quest.

It was to kill another minotaur.

She did that...and got a burger.

"Mmm..." spoke Thalia.

It was nice to have something to eat after a battle.

'FYI food heals your HP." said the messenger.

"Don't potions do that too?" asked the girl.

"Well, the potions heal more." noted her guide.

"I see." answered Thalia.

Still, it would be a good idea to visit the cafe after a battle.

"By the way, you have a guide for the monsters you fight." spoke the messenger.

Thalia had a look.

Indeed, there were monsters inside the guide that she had faced before.

Athena did say that knowledge was power.

Perhaps this would be of use to her in the future.

Thalia wondered if she should try making friends with someone from the Ares cabin.

Ares was the god of war, after all.

However, she didn't think that would be easy.

The Ares cabineers were known to be bullies.

Percy had once told Thalia that he had first realized his powers when Clarisse tried to dunk his head in the toilet.

Thalia wondered why a girl like herself would want to enter the boys' restroom.

She certainly wouldn't.

Perhaps if she defeated Clarisse in combat she would earn her respect. That seemed like a good idea.

But Clarisse was higher-leveled than a lot of the other halfbloods. She had a tendency to boast how strong she was.

Perhaps she should do a bit more grinding first. If she lost Clarisse would probably make fun of her. She would know how it felt when Annabeth called Percy "seaweed brain." Though he had gotten used to that lately.

She could make her into a gamer...but she wasn't sure that she wanted to venture into dungeons with her.

So she decided to make Grover a gamer first.

But she received another message.

"You can only make someone into a gamer once per day." spoke the messenger. After all, it typically took time in an RPG to build up a full party. Though there were a few exceptions.

"I guess even this gaming power has limits." noted Thalia.

She would try again tomorrow.

For now, she decided to check the quest board again.

"Wait...if I accept one of these quests, is it going to send another monster to camp? I don't want to endanger my friends." noted Thalia. They would be mad at her if she did that.

If she got one of her friends killed, she wasn't going to forgive herself anytime soon.

"Nope! The quests will take place in a safe location! The cyclops attacked on his own!" exclaimed the messenger.

"That's a relief." noted Thalia.

As much as she enjoyed doing quests, she wanted to prioritize her fellow campers over herself.

She was getting used to being a gamer.

She noticed one of the quests was to defeat Clarisse.

If she succeeded, she woud indeed earn her respect.

At this point, they were about the same level.

So it was worth a try. Though it was on the fence as to whether she would win or not.

She would decide to take a risk.

"Hey, Clarisse! I challenge you to a duel!" exclaimed Thalia.

"I guess you want to get creamed then." noted Clarisse.

"We'll see who gets creamed." answered the brunette.

The two of them clashed, spear versus spear.

Thalia zapped Clarisse with electricity.

It caused her hair to stand up in end.

In retaliation, she began to charge herself up.

It seemed this was one of the perks that came with being the daughter of the war god.

This naturally made her stronger.

Thalia dodged a spear strike and jabbed Clarisse in the leg.

"You're good, but I'm better!' exclaimed Clarisse.

Clarisse hit Thalia in the arm in retaliation.

It was a good thing that wasn't her weapon arm. Otherwise she would be in trouble.

Though she wouldn't be surprised if being a gamer would allow her to develop a proficiency for fighting with her bare hands.

She used healing rain to undo the damage that had been done.

"Where'd you learn how to do that?" questioned Clarisse.

"It's a crazy story." explained Thalia.

After a long battle, Thalia managed to defeat Clarisse, knocking her to the ground.

"You beat me? But...how?" questioned Clarisse.

"It looks like luck was on my side today." noted Thalia.

"Fine...you win. But I'm going to want a rematch with you soon." pointed out the daughter of Ares.

Thalia helped Clarisse to her feet, and she shook Thalia's hand.

"You have formed a bond with Clarisse! You get a boost to your strength!" exclaimed the messenger.

"Talk about the power of friendship." noted Thalia.

She was glad that she was getting stronger. It made her feel less and less worried about fighting the titan army.

Though she would want to avoid picking a fight with Atlas if she could help it.

She wasn't sure how high his level was, but it must be pretty high if he could hold up the sky for so long.

For now, she would continue her training.

And that makes two.

I would imagine soon that we'll have three.

See ya!
