Chris POV

I slowly opened my eyes as I felt the sun's rays on me. I slowly sat up and looked at my surroundings. I seemed to be on the shore of some island.

'How'd I get here?' I wondered briefly before I recalled the latest events I could. Ad, Survey, swellow island, East Blue-

''East Blue? That can't be right.'' I said to myself as I stood up started walking wearily towards the village I could see in the distance.

As I slowly made my way there I started wondering on my situation and what to do. If I had actually ended up in the world of One Piece then I may be screwed if I don't get stronger. Sure, I could live on an island and not get involved with the marines and pirates, but then what would I do if pirates like Arlong came and decided to attack, I'd be dead quick.

So yeah, I need to either be a pirate or a marine.

Pirates. Adventurers, Explorers, Partyers, Pillagers, Killers, Rapists. All of these words can be used to describe pirates because pirates can be any of them and all of them. The Strawhat Pirates may be good people but they are the exception, not the rule. Pirates like Don Kreig and Arlong are the kind of pirates most other pirate crews are like. And they are the kind of pirates the marines and common people think all pirates are.

Being a pirate, while fun, is extremely dangerous and unpredictable. As much as I want to explore this world, a life of piracy isn't for me.

Well that left the marines. Upholders of Justice, protectors of the people, and people bound by their duty. While some marines such as Axe Hand Morgan and Nezumi are corrupt whereas marines like Sakazuki are extremists woth their belief in Absolute Justice, there are also many marines who are like neither. Vice Admirals Garp and Tsuru, Future Admiral Isho, Captain Smoker and Tashigi are all examples of marines who are what I believe to be the model marine.

" Hey kid!"

I was brought out of my musings by an old man who was walking towards me.

" Sorry, I zoned out there. You say something Mr?" I told the old man.

" Jonathan. Mayor Jonathan of Oak Village. I was asking who you were and what you're doing kid." Mayor Jonathan said. As I looked at the man properly now, he seemed to be in his early 60s yet looked quite fit, well except for needing a cane to support him.

" I'm Cristopher North, You can call me Chris though. And to answer your other question, I got stranded here after I lost my boat." I informed him as I made up a story quickly. Hopefully he bought it.

" Is that so? Where are you from then boy?" He asked. Well shit. I need to think of something quick.

" Well I don't really have a home to be honest. I grew up on a ship and then started traveling on my boat after the ship was lost. And now that the boat's gone, I'm kind of stuck here for a while." I told him praying he'd buy my story.

" That is unfortunate to say the least. Come to my office and lets see if we can get you moved into one of the empty houses we have." He informed me.

" Thank you mayor. I have to ask though, why are the houses empty?" At this Jonathan looked at me for a moment before sighing

" Pirates. Our island is close to Logue Town and thus Reverse Mountain. So many pirates who are afraid to go there use our island as a pit stop to restock. Some pirates are friendly enough and don't cause any trouble but the majority are troublemakers and looters. The marines try, however we aren't the only village and they can't be everywhere at once. So sometimes they can't get here on time when they're called. So a family or two sometimes leave to a safer location out of fear. " He told me with a solemn look on his face.

" Oh. That is unfortunate. I have to ask though Mayor, how are the marines on the island?" I asked the old man. Now that got him to smirk.

" Interested are you lad? Well the marines here are mostly island natives and are good at their jobs and nice people. Captain Mustang makes regular visits to all villages and sends out a group, usually the Elric brothers, to a village to scout out any sign of trouble." He informed me. The names did catch my interest and just got me more interested.

" Well they seem like a good bunch." I say with a light smile.

" Aye, those lads are. Though they are quite the eccentric bunch." He said smiling fondly as we made our way through the town and reached the office.
