Kathleen Wells seemed to be preparing to have company over. Her interdimensional house was spotlessly clean, and she was finishing making snacks and coffee. The entire thing would appear ordinary to anyone. However, there was one bizarre thing regarding this. Kathleen was curious to know who would be showing up for coffee! She only knew the Ancients of the Ghost Zone had arranged a coffee date for her and another individual. Yet they hadn't disclosed who it was. So Kathleen took in stride and hoped for the best.
She checked the clock on the kitchen wall and noticed it was five to three. Her guest was supposed to arrive at three. After placing the homemade coffee cake on the table, she checked her appearance in the hallway mirror. Kathleen Wells took pride in her appearance but wasn't a vain woman. She wanted to look nice to her unidentified guest. She'd pulled her auburn hair into a French braid while weaving fresh lilacs into it. They complimented her lilac short-sleeved shirt, white pants, and black flats.
There was a knock on the door, indicating her visitor was there. Taking a deep breath, she unlocked the door. Standing before her was a gorgeous woman with waist-length auburn and plum hair. The lady sported a chartreuse short-sleeved shirt, blush pink trousers, and a pair of earthy sandals."Hello!" she greeted Kathleen, "My name is Magdalene Masters. You can call me Mag for short. The Ancients sent me a letter expressing something regarding you, and I needed to bond?" she looked a tad confused.
"Nice to meet you, Mag. My name is Kathleen Wells. I, too, received a magical scroll telling me we'd be having coffee together today at three. Please come inside. I've made some coffee cake."
"That will be splendid indeed," as the tan-skinned woman followed the pale-skinned woman to the kitchen. She looked around the house before saying, "I love how gorgeous your home is," Mag complemented her host.
Kathleen blushed, "Yes, its a modest home which is shortcut between more then one reality. What's your home like?" she asked curiously.
"I live in a castle with my husband and three children. When my husband and I bought it, I told him I'd be the one to decorate it because, knowing him and his obsession with the Packers? He'd have turned it into an eyesore with all the green and gold!"
Kathleen couldn't help but chuckle at that. "So how did he take it when you told him that?"
"I told him the foyer and his man cave room could be done however he'd like, but the rest was up to me. I've ensured each room has fresh flowers, symbols of our faith, and overall feels like an actual home," as they sat at the table.
"Well, technically, I have two ex-husbands, Robert Jackson, and Alexei Petrov. However, we're never actually married. The three of us owe our existence to the Ancients. They gave us life to help Danny Fenton/Phantom and Ceci Masters/Spirit see each other without raising suspicion."
"I did encounter Ceci once. She seemed like an intelligent, level-headed, and responsible young woman. I'm a little surprised to know in another reality; my only son is the child of my husband's ex-friends, Jack and Maddie Fenton."
"Well, for me? Maddie is supposed to be my third cousin. We get along quite well. However, I speculate the Maddie in your reality isn't so nice?" as they sipped their coffee.
Mag took a bite of the coffee cake before replying, "Maddie and Jack Fenton, in my reality, are in two separate prisons. Primarily because they're deemed a danger to society and broke multiple laws in their pursuit to hunt ghosts."
"Oh my! That's undoubtedly not something I wanted to hear!" Kathleen looked stunned at that unanticipated news.
"Well, if we learned anything about the multiverse since this crisis began? There are thousands of realities and versions of different individuals within each one. And no two versions are the same," Mag pointed out.
"I see your point, and its an excellent one. So tell me more about yourself. Like, what are your interests?" Kathleen asked as she refilled their mugs.
Mag sipped her coffee before answering her new friend. "I love to garden, play the piano, and am a devoted Christian. I've ensured that faith is a vital aspect of my family life. I've read the Bible so many times I've memorized it."
"You memorized the Bible? I doubt that was an easy feat to achieve," The petite woman looked impressed.
"Well, again, for my family, religion and God are vital to us. So, we study the Bible several times a week for three hours. So now I can recite on the spot any piece of scripture," Mag replied proudly.
"Again, I'm impressed. I also love gardening, but I've not genuinely been into theology. I'm not an atheist. I've just not been alive long enough to explore it, is all," Kathleen clarified.
"I've nothing against anyone's choices when it comes to religion. Whether they believe in God or not. I do me, and they do them. My best friend Leta is a biracial Jewish woman," Mag divulged as she sipped her coffee.
"How is she biracial?" the ivory-skinned woman questioned.
"Her father is African American, and her mother is white and Jewish. They also don't care that their daughter is a lesbian. They've accepted it since day one. My friend Leta loves anything about magic, crystals, and mythology. She runs a new-age magic shop. Her business is doing incredibly well, and she's a wonderful person to be around," replied the tan-skinned woman.
"How are your cooking skills? I'm very gifted when it comes to cooking. I'm sure you could tell that from my homemade coffee cake."
"Well, we've hired cooks who make our meals since we need human and ghostly food mixed because we're all hybrids."
"I see why you don't cook yourself if you don't understand how to prepare such meals. I'm sensing there more then that too the story. Am I correct?" Kathleen asked uneasily.
"You're very perceptive. Yes, my children and I all suffer from chronic anemic and weakened immune systems. So its even more important to have a human and ghost chef prepare our meals."
"How did you become half-ghost? If your entire family is hybrids, I'm assuming you are a half-ghost."
"Long story short? I ended up in the same hospital as my husband, Vlad. I was very sick due to my health issues and needed a bone marrow transplant. Vlad was a perfect match, and through that transplant, I became a half-ghost."
"Wow, that's even freakier than either of the kids getting zapped by a malfunctioning portal!"
"Freaky, yes, I do agree. I take it you're not a half-ghost?" Mag questioned, to which Kathleen nodded.
"I'm completely human, but I do have a good life. I'm an advice columnist and have also written a popular blog. Again, I'm quite content with my simple life, and I love all five children like my own."
"Yes, family is essential. However, true family is those who love you, not whose blood you share. Well? It's about 4:30 now. I should be getting back to my reality. I hope the Ancients can arrange another coffee date for us soon."
"Yes, I'd love that as well. See you later, Mag."
"You too, Kathleen," as they walked to the door, and Mag returned to her reality.
