A/N: Boredom overtook me again and this is the result. Let it be as you may.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Calli looked at the pictures that she had saved of her and Spike on her phone. Each one had meant something to her. Then he'd gone and destroyed it all.
Bodies tangled on a bed…
Soft moans and gentle growls…
Calli shook her head to clear it of those images, those sounds that were not hers. She felt tears smart her eyes and pulled her glasses off to wipe them away. Her thumb hovered over the delete button, but she didn't push it.
I wish…
Calli looked out at the world and saw someone watching her from across the bar. Calli mentally noted that he was cute, but no one compared to Spike. She lowered her gaze and went back to scrolling through the memories.
Her phone vibrated in her hands and she received a text.
Where are you? -S
Calli's eyes narrowed and she typed out: Away from the office.
I can see that. Where are you, pet?
The witch frowned and shook her head. None of your business.
Her phone started ringing and Calli threw it down. She ignored it as she helped herself to her white sangria.
"Sounds like someone is in the doghouse," someone said. "I'd hate to be him."
Calli glanced over at Mr. Cute and frowned. "No kidding."
"Mind if I join you?"
"It's a free country as far as I know."
Calli looked at him as he sat across from her, beer bottle in hand. She wasn't going to fall for his charms as he talked to her. Too many men had done that and she'd had enough.
"You're telling me that this guy slept with someone else right in front of you? And you've both been dating for how long?"
"Does it matter?" Calli lifted a pretzel to her lips. "The point is that he cheated and I found him in the act of doing it."
"Ouch! I'd really hate to be that guy!" He flashed a smile. "You look like you could pack a punch."
"There's no question in that. But kicking is more effective for me."
Mr. Cute chuckled. "I see."
Bodies moving with one another…
Sweat glistening on entangled bodies…
Breath shared…
Calli saw Spike come into the bar, looking down at a ring on his finger. She mentally cursed, knowing that he had used a locator spell to find her. On a ring that she had bought him because it reminded her of his eyes.
"Great…" Calli sighed, taking a hearty sip of her drink.
Mr. Cute glanced in the direction of the vampire. "Him?"
"Yep."
"Do you want me to say something?"
"Nope."
Spike walked over to her, looking confused and a little worried. "Pet, what are you doing in this part of town at night? It's not safe for little birds like you."
Calli shrugged a shoulder. "Eh. I can go wherever I want. Especially if it keeps me away from you."
More confusion filled Spike's eyes. "What?"
"You fucked up, buddy," Mr. Cute stated, grinning at Spike.
"And who the bloody hell are you?" Spike looked at Calli. "Who is he?"
Calli shrugged again. "A distraction."
Spike's eyes darkened. "Pet, we need to talk. Alone."
The witch rolled her eyes and climbed to her feet. She put her hand on her hip and glared up at him.
"We don't need to do anything," Calli informed him. "Because we don't exist as a pair anymore."
"What? Pet!"
"Go fuck your whore in your bed again, Spike! Maybe that'll jog your memory!"
Spike paled. "You – you saw…"
"Fuck you."
Calli pushed past him and headed outside. She heard him follow her and she kept walking. Spike grabbed her by the shoulders and stopped her in place.
"Calli, you didn't see what you thought you did," Spike told her.
Calli stiffened under his touch. "It's pretty obvious what I saw. You were fucking someone else." She turned and glared up at him. "I never thought you'd break my heart. But I should have known better, seeing as you're a guy."
Spike looked at her imploringly. "Calli, I didn't want to do it. I had no choice."
"There's always a choice, Spike! There's always one!" She threw her hands in her hair and pulled at the roots. "I just wish that I could break your heart like you broke mine!"
She started walking again. "But I can't! I can't break your heart like that! Because I don't sleep around or trust anyone! I don't have people throwing themselves into my path like you do!"
Spike wrapped his arms around her and held her close to his chest. "Pet, she would have killed you…she'd already laid the curse out and…I couldn't be without you like that."
"Right! She was going to kill me, so you slept with her. Yeah, right!"
Spike lifted her hand in his and showed her the mark on her wrist. "Curse mark," he said, touching it with his thumb. "It'll be gone in three days, she said, as long as I did what she wanted."
Calli frowned and stared at the mark. "The hell?" She turned her head and looked at him in profile. "How did she - ?"
"Bookstore."
Calli paled. "The lady who bumped into me."
Spike nodded. "Yeah, pet. She was going to do a bloody number on you. And I couldn't let it happen…I whored my body to save my most precious gift from the Universe."
Calli turned in his arms and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face against his chest. "I'm so sorry!"
Spike held her, fingers tangled in her hair. "You didn't know."
"And I wanted to break your heart too!"
Spike offered her a crooked smile. "The only way that you could break my heart is if you disappeared from my life, forever."
"You wouldn't let that happen."
"Not on anyone's bloody life." He gestured at the bar. "You still want to get some drinks? I'll be the Big Bad that protects you from the naughty blokes."
The witch looked back at the bar, then at the vampire. "Nah. There's plenty of that stuff back at home. Which is where I want to be. With you."
Spike smiled. "Movie night."
"Netflix."
"And chill?" Spike smirked.
Calli grabbed him by the front of his duster and started pulling him along behind her. "Possibly…"
"Love…"
Calli laughed and continued pulling him along. There wasn't anything that she could think of that she wouldn't do for this vampire…
OOOOOOOOOOO
A/N: I really need to create a longer story for the characters. But where do I have the time these days? We'll see. -Scarlet
